My sweet Amber was recently diagnosed with a rapidly progressing autoimmune disease SLO. I was able to get an appointment very quickly with a board certified dermatology specialist and be by my girl’s side the entire time until the needed procedure. The nurse Tiara and Dr Farver were beyond caring and phenomenal! Attentive, caring and extremely knowledgeable. They didn’t rush, listened to my concerns and questions. Took extended time to discuss medication protocol options. I was kept updated the entire time. Tiara helped me take Amber out to the car and lift her in. The front desk team was just as attentive and kind. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking general care or a specialist!!! It is also a very large hospital, up to date, beautiful with the newest technology. They did what was needed to bring my Amber some relief and pain reduction. I am so appreciative and grateful I found them!!! I also think it’s important to share that when I made the appointment they said not to feed her after midnight in the event she would need to be sedated for any procedures which I knew she would need. It didn’t require and initial consult and then another appointment. They are prepared on first visit to do what is needed to bring comfort to your fur baby. Just phenomenal!!
I can’t encourage you enough to go to this place. The vet business is slammed right now. Places booked months in advance. My dog had a fast acting melting corneal ulcer and needed seen by an eye doctor as soon as possible or it could rupture and need surgery.I had no luck getting in anywhere for months ahead (must have called 20 places) even when I was having an emergency. I left a message here and they called back saying they had an appointment available from a cancellation in three hours. I dropped everything and drove two hours and was seen immediately. If they hadn’t taken us in Shasta’s eye could have exploded and we would have had to wait for surgery or gamble with an ER. I cannot express how grateful I am that they cared enough to call me back and get us in.The doctor was wonderful and friendly and the price reasonable for all of the medications he needs. This took a huge stress off of me and my dog.Included is a picture of my baby.I am a 20 year old commuter college student with a job. This really was a miracle for us. Thank you met vet!!!
Drove over an hour to get there. It’s scary, Not knowing if your pet will have a surgery or not, or just the unknown. They were so wonderful!! I left there feeling so relieved. Great experience. Very thorough.
After experiencing about 100 yellow jacket stings, I rushed my dog to Metropolitan. The receptionist Katie was quick, prompt and super attentive to Lunas needs. They quickly called for a nurse who took Luna straight back to be examed. Once Luna got back there Dr. Gaunt was very thorough and explained all her medical needs to me. This place was well ran and the staff was amazing. So glad I took my Luna here!! 🥰
I saw Dr. Hauser for my dogs newly developed storm phobias and we had a great experience. I highly recommend the behavior services at Metropolitan if your pet is suffering with a behavioral issues. Seeing a specialist is the best path to relief for your pet and I am so glad the option is available to us.
I have had my rescue Shine for a year now. She came to me post-op and Metro Vet had done her surgery. My local vet suggested that I return for a consult due to some limping she was experiencing. The staff was terrific, everyone remembered Shine and treated us kindly. Her surgeon Dr. Schwab went above and beyond to reassure me and treat her condition and explain the long term prognosis. If Shine needs any future surgeries I will definitely go to MetroVet and ask for Dr. Timothy Schwab.
The doctors, nurses, vet techs and front desk staff at Metropolitan are all fantastic people. They all took great care of our cat and of us humans. We so appreciate the warm care, the expert knowledge and the kindness they bestowed upon our beloved cat and us. Thank you, Metropolitan. We highly recommend this hospital.
I had a great experience at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. This was the first time I had ever been to this facility. From the start they appeared to be very well organized and well managed. My cat needed a neurology consultation and advanced imaging was recommended by my primary vet to diagnose his condition. I decided to do the MRI so I could get a conclusive answer as to why my cat was so off balance. I was extremely satisfied with the staff and Dr V. They listened to me and explaining the options. Unfortunately my cat Tiger had a poor prognosis and didn’t have much time left. Even though I was concerned this type of testing was expensive, it was less than what I was quoted and I am glad I was able to know the end was near so I could spend quality time with my pet. They also have support staff (Jennifer) who contacted me to follow up after the appointment which is a wonderful & unique service provided to benefit the pet owners.
I had to take my lab, Cookie, to emergency for heart condition. All the nurses were very kind and they gave her all necessary care. The bill was less than expected, a nice surprise. Also, they called me back and emailed me the paperwork and my vet. Lastly, a social worker called to offer support for free. Nice touch.
Took my 15 year old cat Magical in, no appointment. While the outcome is heart wrenching, they were so warm, kind, knowledgeable caring and patient. They helped explain the diagnosis and what needed to be done going forward to help our precious Magical. Their compassion and understanding means everything !! I cant possibly thank them enough for looking after our Magical the Mystical Mischievous Menace (his given name) A special thank you to Dr. Marisa Suvannavejh
My K9 SAR partner Mac went in with a pneumothorax (air in his chest cavity) of unknown origin. The caring, knowledgeable team of doctors and staff diagnosed him, performed surgery, and cared for him AND me better than most human hospitals, in my experience. In fact I think that Metropolitan is cleaner also.Prepared to lose my best buddy, I am elated to be writing this review from home, with an icepack on his wound in less than 1 week from admission. It wasn’t an inexpensive procedure, but I believe the care provided was a great value. I received a call from one of his doctors at least twice per day, with a full update of his condition, even when there was no change. The doctors provided me with options for his care in a clear, non-judgemental way. I know that not all admissions end this happily, but you can be assured of the best care possible regardless of the outcome. Thank you!!
Words aren’t enough to describe how nice and caring the people are here!My wife and I brought our dog here in August and the doctor spent 25 minutes with us to give us all our options and then again we had to rush our dog back in on September and Amy was nothing but excellent from the phone calls to in person!I highly recommend this vet!
My daughter & I made an emergency visit last Sunday with my cat Mim. We were so impressed with the entire support staff & Dr. Chou. Sounds trite but best way I can describe staff is they were just nice. And nice is good & hard to find now days. And Dr. Chou was so thorough & patient & took time to explain our options. We are returning for a ct scan next week. We feel extremely fortunate to have been referred there by our vet. Highly recommend.
This place is amazing! The facility is beautiful and they allow people to wait in the building (waiting area) while your pet is being examined. From the CCRs to the support staff and doctors they were a pleasure to interact with. Everyone is very polite. The doctor was very knowledge and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend this facility! Thank you all for taking care of my baby boy ELROY
I cant recommend Metro Vet highly enough. My cat needed a vet who specialized in dentistry. I called around to several vets and they got in touch with me almost immediately. I found them to be well organized and the staff demonstrated how much they truly love animals. They were kind and gentle with my cat and answered all of my questions. When I was concerned about the cost, they told me about CareCredit. What stood out was when I received a call asking how my cat was doing the next day after his surgery. My only thing I dont like is that they are not closer because I live in Philly. They were excellent and took the best care of my cat.
I am so glad I came to this facility. My poor baby girl has glaucoma. I’ve been to 2 different vets over the past few months, they both said it was just an abrasion. It wasn’t until I came here because she was in obvious pain that they told me what she has, glaucoma. They did an emergency procedure and carefully instructed me with what to do from here on out for the rest of her life. I call if I have any questions and they call to check in. This experience has been absolutely terrifying and heartbreaking for me, the entire staff, from nurses to doctors, to the administrative dept, have all been amazing. You feel that they absolutely care about what they do. I’m so grateful for my experience here. Thank you. I highly recommend this emergency location and vet in general. Thank you a million.
I was referred here by my local vet clinic after my cat, Frankie, had been treated there for several days of vomiting and not eating. Metropolitan was the only place out of 5 emergency hospitals my vet contacted that was willing to see us on a Saturday. Frankie was thoroughly evaluated and given an ultrasound. Both doctors who treated him over three days were extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. The wait was long, and the treatment was expensive, but Frankie is doing well now. Thank you, everyone!
Metro is basically the place to bring your pet to see a specialist - because they will do a fantastic job. Youll get a detailed email with everything that was discussed and a clear treatment plan. Yes the place is expensive - but so far my experience has been that they have been worth it.
Metropolitan is the best and Dr DeBiasio is amazing! We moved out of the immediate area but would still travel to them as they are worth the ride.
I was so impressed with the communication, availability to make an appointment quickly, and the kindness and knowledge of the staff. Everything was explained fully, and Dr. Backel and her team left me feeling at ease and confident about the treatment of my dog, Wolfgang, moving forward. I also appreciate the detailed report that was emailed to me.
I am new to the area and havent found a regular vet, so Saturday when my hairless Sphynx cat wasn’t eating or using the litter box I was immediately concerned. I called a regular vet near me and they were unable to get me in, but recommended this location. I called metro to explain my circumstances and they told me I could come in immediately. When I arrived, the woman at the desk got me checked in and was very friendly. After a five minute wait, a nurse came to ask me a few questions about my reason for the visit, and then took my cat to the back to check his vitals. A few moments later, two critical cases came in that they had to triage for priority (totally understandable of course) which was communicated to me when I asked about wait times. Only about an hour later, they called me back to explain their findings and recommendations, which gave me a few options to work with depending on my own level of concern. I opted for bloodwork for my cat and they got that rolling right away and thankfully after drawing the blood, they let me wait in a private room with my cat, which I really appreciated! Within 40 minutes, they came back to let me know the results and all was looking good so I was able to take my cat home. They gave me a full printout of my cat’s visit with detailed descriptions of his physical exam and the tests they ran, and told me they would send the records to the regular vet I had called earlier that day. They even gave me a recommendation for a supplement I should give my cat, but told me to get it on Amazon because it’s half the price (which just reiterated their honesty and care). All staff was so kind and friendly, the waiting room and exam rooms were clean, the pricing for services was standard, and for a visit I expected to take 6 hours, I only spent 2.5 hours from start to finish! Fast, but thorough.I would highly recommend this location for anyone that experiences an emergency situation with their animal. It was very clear the staff truly cared about my concerns and the well being of my beloved cat. I will most definitely be using metro for any future emergencies!
Everyone here was so caring and wonderful. Can’t say enough good things about them. My dog is anxiety ridden and they were so good about it. Dr. Corr is so compassionate and thorough. I highly recommend metropolitan veterinary associates. Thank you for being so great to Teddy!!
I work with Midatlantic Bulldog Rescue and recently took my foster dog to have a surgical consult with Dr. Niles. After experiencing crazy traffic on 76 and being pretty late for my appointment, staff was more than understanding and accommodating. During the appointment, Dr. Niles explained the entire process of Bean’s surgery (including pictures drawn!). She was very thorough and made me and my coordinator feel very comfortable, even taking time to answer additional questions by phone. I could not recommend the staff or Dr. Niles more (especially after working with MANY vets and surgeons through my work with rescues!)
Metropolitan Veterinary Associates is just the best! My dog recently needed arthroscopic elbow surgery on both legs, and they completely walked me through the process and made sure my girl was comfortable and taken care of. They have 24/7 care and I knew my dog was in really good hands. I 100% trust these surgeons and am incredibly grateful for the work they performed on my dog. The surgery went exactly as planned, if not better, and my girl is healing really nicely. MVA is always there for your animals, and I cant recommend them enough!
We took one of our kittens to a radiologist here and they were fantastic. A very large, clean, beautiful facility. All the staff members were very friendly and answered any questions we had. The pricing was incredible compared to other vets we called. Thank you for seeing Duey! 💕
I recently had to take my dog in to correct his entropion. I was able to schedule an initial consultation and surgery faster than I expected and everything went smoothly. Jess did a great job keeping me informed the day of the procedure and followed up with me after we got home even though she had a much longer day than expected. Dr. Corr did the surgery and did an excellent job correcting my dogs entropion. It seems like the procedure was done just right. Although my dog is still healing at the moment he is looking good and seems to be much more comfortable. Thank you to Dr. Corr and her team for everything they did. The attached picture was taken 10 days post surgery.
My dog was experiencing sudden onset of paralysis in his hind legs. We drove (1hr) for emergency treatment at 10:30pm and he had emergency surgery the next day. Everyone, from the woman who took my initial call( thank you Amy) the veterinarian working ( thank you Dr. French), and the neurologist who performed the surgery (thank you Dr. Lipitz) and was so caring, knowledgeable and just left me with a sense of comfort and relief that my baby would be very well cared for...I will always be grateful!
We have seen several physicians and specialties at Metropolitan and have always had a great experience. The physicians and entire staff are always very pleasant and helpful. They go out of their way to explain procedures and diagnoses and all options for treatment. They take the time to get to know your pet and their personality. The doctors that treated our dog for a rare disorder pulled her through and she is now in remission because of their knowledge of unusual conditions. We have recommended Metropolitan to several friends.
After bringing our elderly Boston Terrier to BluePearl vet with symptoms of poor breathing, walking in circles, inappetence, and constipation, we were left with no answers. We headed to our regular veterinarian and we were referred to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. We brought Harpo to them and they immediately gave him oxygen and did a full evaluation. Metropolitans staff is caring, understanding, and thorough. Harpo was diagnosed with heart disease and also had other conditions that were addressed during his two day visit. He appeared to improve after his treatment, but it did not last, and we had to put him to rest 7/19/21. He had begun to suffer and had many challenges that his elderly body could not fight. We let him go with love, but we will miss him deeply. Metropolitan was there when we needed them and did a fine job of caring for Harpo. Thank you.
My vet suggested I take my dog Maddie to a cardiology specialist. The office staff members are friendly. They did an excellent job communicating with me prior to my appointment. They responded quickly to any emails I sent and requested the records from my regular vet prior to my visit. They are also doing a great job with Covid safety. The vet tech who talked to me over the phone and did the intake was very sweet. Dr. Poad discussed everything over the phone and was kind and thorough. The staff emailed me a detailed instruction and summary sheet the day after our appointment. I feel confident that I am on the right path to get Maddie the help she needs. Thank you all very much.
This is the second time our dog Bailey has been to Metropolitan for an emergency appointment. Both times we were very satisfied with the care given to Bailey. From the moment we checked in until the time we left Everyone was very kind and compassionate. Our visit on Thursday night was due to a Medial Patella Luxation. It is difficult to not be able to go in and be with your pet, but they made the best of the situation. Very organized. Bailey saw Dr. Wilson. When she called me she was super thorough. She originally didnt see the problem. She took a little extra time watching and petting Bailey, she was then able to see her having difficulty getting up. She called me back and again was so thorough and compassionate. She gave me the opportunity to ask questions. I have already recommended them to several people
We have had a very good experience. The doctors listened and communicated to me, they explained why they did things and gave us options for treatment. They were very thorough.
I called on a Friday to make an appointment for a surgical consult. Someone from the office called me back on Monday. I was asking questions about the surgery and whats involved (cost, recovery, etc). The woman I was speaking with wasnt exactly friendly and seemed to be in a rush. Also, she couldnt answer all of my questions including the ones about the doctor. It got to the point where I asked if I should call her back at a more convenient time. (Remember, she was returning my call.) She said no and said she just didnt have all the answers to my questions. Listen, my questions didnt require a brain surgeon to answer them. They were questions that Im sure are being asked multiple times a day. After making the consult appointment the woman was ready to hang up, but I was able to get in my last questions. Do you want my dog to fast in case you want to drawl blood on the day of the consult? (I knew to ask this because another facility with whom we had a consult wanted this.) Oh. Yeah. Do that. Needless to say, even though Metropolitan Veterinary Associates came highly recommended, I couldnt bring myself to take my dog there. In the end I cancelled our consult and went with another orthopedic surgeon at a different facility. Very glad I did.UPDATE:I called last week to cancel our appointment and had to leave a message. I included in the message the reason why I was cancelling. Just got a call reminding me of the appointment. I told the woman I had already called and cancelled. No one updated the system. She couldnt care less when I explained why.
I called the hospital to report that my 15 year old cat had a seizure and was panting. I was told to come immediately, to bring her to the desk and tell the receptionist that she was a panting cat. They IMMEDIATELY took her into the back for her examination - even before we could complete the paperwork. With compassion, we were informed that euthanasia was the best option (she had a collapsed lung due to fluid in her chest cavity - a sign of severe heart failure or end-stage cancer). She was humanely euthanized in my arms. We were given as much time with her as needed. I am grateful that she left us so peacefully. I am grateful for the compassion shown by EVERYONE at the hospital.
After being rejected (not a client) from several local vets for an emergency visit we came across Metropolitan and drove over. (after calling ahead) Not only were they available on the weekend eve, but they were understanding and empathetic to the circumstances.Pricing was reasonable under the circumstances and they even quoted over the phone. It was worth the drive and easily accessible off of 422. We will always consider Metropolitan for future pet care.
Even when faced with some of the worst case scenarios that we came to Metropolitan for, everyone was as caring and empathetic as you could ever hope for. I am thankful that they cared and listened and were able to help our family in the ways they did. Life isnt full of good days but the folks at Metro sure made our bad day a lot easier.Wonderful people, facility, ease of use and cleanliness. Great and simple Covid policies and vets and staff that embrace the art of caring for animals AND their owners. Many thanks to all.
Had to take my little Scottie, Marty, in for major tooth extractions. Everyone from the receptionists to the doctors and nurses, was so kind, caring, informative, and reassuring that my pet was going to be very well cared for. And she was! Thank you to everyone!
They took care of our Siberian Husky - who had 3 different issues - over the weekend. The bedside manners are impeccable. They spoke to us about her as if she were the only dog there. It made my nerves so much more calm than they were at the start of this whole experience. Highly recommend.
Our dog was very sick from either a bee sting or ingesting something in the yard. While it was a little far for us, we knew Abby would get the best care at Metropolitan, and she did. They were patient, efficient, honest and kind. They could have pushed for expensive tests she didnt need like other vet practices do, but they didnt. Our girl was sent home with fluids and meds that had her feeling better the very next day. I cant say enough good things about Metropolitan. Years ago they saved my other dogs knee with successful surgery. They are the absolute BEST!
Metropolitan hospital is top notch A++. Every singe emergency visit has been beyond well organized. Staff has the best personality and love their job, front desk is empathetic and knowledgeable, and the doctors are outstanding! One in particular is Dr. Pohd veterinarian cardiologist. She treated my dog Sofia Rain as if she was her own. She is extremely knowledgeable, loving, caring, takes the time with you because she truly cares, and simply just a remarkable person. Best place to take your pet in any type of emergency situation!
Within the past year, my pup was seen twice for emergency visits and each time, we were given such attentive and professional care. Every member of their staff that I’ve come into contact with has been patient, thorough and knowledgable. I couldn’t recommend Metro enough to any pet parent in need of emergency services and am so thankful for the comfort of having a reliable 24-hour veterinary center close by.
One of the best vets I’ve been too, especially for an emergency. Brought my critically ill cat here and they took care of her very nicely and quickly. I trust them.
The service, professionalism and sincere caring for our sweet Clementine (golden retriever) was amazing. I had heard from my parents how wonderful this place was, but to experience it first hand w/ our Clem was incredible. We went because of sudden issue with her heart (Dilated Cardio Myopathy), we were preparing ourselves to have to put her down. They gave us options and ultimately hope and we brought her home in 24 hours. Shes on meds forever but every day is a bonus day and a blessing. Thanks so much!!
Great care and concerned vets. Can be a very busy parking lot, especially with COVID but the professional staff from reception to the vets make it a great place for pet care. Our dog was diagnosed with potential bone cancer and MVA found us an appointment quickly and scheduled the surgery in 1 week. We are grateful and are hoping to have at least a bit more time with our dog.
I can’t say one negative thing about my experience. They were kind with me on the phone when I had to bring my cat in immediately, treated me with calmness and respect, laid everything out clearly from start to finish, and never once made me feel any additional anxiety (taking a fluffy loved one in for a medical emergency is tough enough!). The doctor, Marisa Savannavejh, was SO kind and helpful and informative. She was the light I needed throughout the whole endeavor. I would recommend this emergency vet to anyone in the area!
Thank you very much for all of the exceptional care you provided my dog. Everyone on staff is professional, caring, and knowledgeable. We are thankful for such an outstanding veterinary experience! -Hines
I love everything about metropolitan vet. associates except that they dont have regular vet visits, i would definitely take my dogs there for regular check ups as well as emergency or specialties. I have two crazy labs who get in to everything so I frequent this place for both. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
All of the staff from the front desk back to the doctors and more were all very informative and respectful and helpful. Its not easy to deal with people and their furbaby medical issues but they are very considerate of the stressful time.
Dr Hagar Hauser is fabulous! I would use her for my regular veterinarian if that were possible. She gave me wonderful feedback on ZaSu and saw things my usual vet had not mentioned to me. We discussed a variety of ways to deal with her behavior problem and decided medication is the way to go. Love her!
Only good words to say about this place and all of the people I met while they were taking care of my pup 🐶
Our dear Ryely needed emergency, immediate care and we contacted Metro Vet Hospital and we are so glad we did. They took him in immediately and constantly gave us updates on their findings and how they were going to treat him.His condition improved and we got him home after 1 night at the hospital. We know now an exact diagnosis and they have given us an exact method of treatment. Thanks to all who helped getting Ryely back on track to living a daily comfortable life.
Very prompt, friendly staff and doctors who put my anxious senior dog at ease. The doctor was very informative and straight to the point, which I love. They let you make your own decisions without pressure while letting you know all of your available options. Highly recommend.
MVA is professional, kind, gentle, and truly caring when it comes to you and your pets. The thing that I appreciate the most is that they are considerate of costs when it comes to treatment plans. They work with you on finding alternative options before diving right into the most expensive procedures. I love them!
We had a very positive experience at Metropolitan with our dog, Sophie. She has been having disc issues and our regular vet recommended we see Dr. Vansteenkiste. She was very patient with our questions concerning an MRI for Sophie and didnt want to do anything unnecessary. Were hoping our girl will be able to get through this without an MRI or surgery but we feel confident that Metropolitan is where we want to be if thats the course we need to follow.
The staff was very attentive and caring of my cats needs. I was concerned about radiation exposure when I brought my cat home. All my questions were answered and I felt comfortable handling my cats care. I appreciated the daily updates to let me know how he was progressing. It was a good experience.
My cat Jeffrey had been battling cardiac disease and had been a patient here for months under specializes care for his cardiac disease. We had invested thousands of dollars for Jeffreys care at Metropolitan Vet when we brought him in with some concerns about a recent change in his health, specifically a bloated belly and increased appetite. I brought him in to see if they could help with any relief for his belly and to get a better understanding of why he was so hungry, despite feeding him 3-4 cans of food per day. The evening I took him there he was bright eyed, lively, able to walk with no issues and although battling a long-term illness, he was still full of life. They asked me to leave him overnight for more tests and within six hours of taking him here, he had declined so rapidly and drastically that he was near death. When I rushed to the hospital to see what was going on, Jeffrey could no longer walk, lost control of his bowels and could barely lift his head. They said they offered him food and he had no desire to eat. I had brought a can of food, opened it up and with the last bit of strength he had, Jeffrey devoured the food. No desire to eat? Not true. The doctor was extremely defensive, condescending and seemed erratic, when all we asked was, what happened to Jeffrey overnight in SIX HOURS??? We were never told. We were talked down to and at one poi t I asked the doctor to calm down as she was nearly shouting at us. She had zero understanding for our position - We were utterly confused and in shock about what happened to Jeffrey while in their care. We felt betrayed and lost trust based on the doctors reaction to us - She was beyond unprofessional. It was the kind of reaction that youd expect from a child that just got caught doing something wrong. Very unusual behavior for a doctor. We realized Jeffrey was in a dire situation so, we gathered him up and took the hour drive back home. We took him to an emergency vet closer to our home and had to have him euthanized based on his condition. Twenty four hours earlier, he was alive, bright eyed, walking, eating, drinking, engaged in life and now I was taking him to die. We never heard a word from Metropolitan Vet after we left that morning with Jeffrey. They certainly collected their funds for killing our cat but, never followed up with a call to see how Jeffrey was - To see if he was alive or dead after visiting their hospital. We recieved cards from the other emergency vet who put Jeffrey down as well as from our primary vet. Each card signed by multiple members of the veterinary team with caring messages about Jeffrey. Never a word from Metropolitan Vet - NOT A WORD. If that doesnt solidify their responsibility in this, I couldnt tell you what does. Horrible place with heartless people. There are veterinarian hospitals all over the area - I would strongly advise that you NOT take an animal to Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital. They were dishonest, completely lacking in care, had zero compassion and gave zero follow up after playing a role in the drastic decline in Jeffreys health. Jeffry was a gentle, kind, peaceful cat and I hate myself for taking him here to suffer through this at the hands of the people of this hospital. I should have NEVER taken him here. Dont live with the regret I now live with and please just avoid this place.
I am so glad that I brought my little Chihuahua, Dot, to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates for a second opinion and repeat diagnostic procedures. Dot has been in ill health for the past three months, and, thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff at Metropolitan, we finally seem to have the correct diagnosis and a plan to restore her to good health. Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for a very positive experience at this hospital.
I have said this before as I have used Metropolitan Veterinarians for other emergencies, they are the best!!I’m so grateful the care they gave my Piper. He is doing so well after his surgery. Thank you so much!
I absolutely love bringing my mini schnauzer Lucky to Metropolitan. They provide his cardiology medical services. The staff is so friendly and their processes are super organized. When I arrived yesterday I wasnt sure how things were going to work due to the COVID restrictions. Boy was I impressed. When I arrived, a nice lady walked over to my car and checked us in and gave us instructions. Then we received a call from the nurse to ask a few questions and to let us know when to bring Lucky under the green awning. They took great care of my Lucky and when he came out he was happy and smiling. Also, his Doctor is the best. Dr. Miller is super friendly and he takes his time to explain everything in terms that I can understand. I can tell that he loves his job and that he loves animals. At the end, the nurse brought Lucky out and took him to pee which I thought was very sweet. I am so happy to work with them and will definitely return.
Our 9 year old Burmese cat, Leander, had to visit Metropolitan Veterinary Associates for an emergency appointment, which we got immediately. I can not speak highly enough about the veterinary doctor who examined and cared for him, and for the nursing staff who helped treat him so caringly and attentively. When your pet, a member of the family, is sick, this is the kind of caring treatment you want. I trust these professionals. If your pet needs medication attention, he/she will be in excellent hands here. Our Leander has returned home with us, resting comfortably and healing, thanks to these wonderful people at Metropolitan.
Kind, compassionate, professional and honest. They take such very good care of you at Metro-Vet. They’re everything you hope for when an emergency happens.
Everyone I encountered was very professional, compassionate and patient with excellent explanations and empathy. Our little Crissie is feeling much better and seems happy these past 10 days since we were in, even though we got sad news. Were counting this as borrowed time. Thank you!
We had an unexpected tragedy with our blue nose pitbull. Our original vet never stressed our concerns with our boy which lead to a heart breaking end result. Metropolitan Vet was one of the only 24 hour facilities near us and were absolutely the best. Every single person at metro was so kind, sympathetic, caring, patient, helpful, and reassuring. They truly care and it shows. Will always recommend.
I had to bring Braveheart after I accidentally cut his back trying to remove matting. I have never been there before and I have to say it was so busy that Sunday night but I have to say everyone working out front was exceptionally nice, caring, and helped me relax and have confidence that my Braveheart was in great hands, I can’t say enough. Then when I meet Dr. French and other collegue’s I knew I made a great choice with having him under their care. Just know that your pet is in great hands at Metropolitan Veterinary Assocates!!!!…from the bottom of my heart, Thank you guys!!Bill Mc
I had a wonderful experience at Metropolitan Veterinary. My 8 yo Shetland Sheepdog required an Emergency Visit and ultimately was scheduled for surgery the next morning. From my first phone call to check out two days later, the care and service was impeccable. Dr. Buckman in the ED and Dr. Niles, the surgeon were compassionate and clinically exceptional. Every person I encountered, patient representative, vet tech and nurses were unfailingly kind and patient. Many thanks Metropolitan for giving my sweet boy great care. Jane Hofherr
I was referred to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates by my local vet because my little guy needed to be seen by an Ophthalmologist. The nurse that came out to greet us was absolutely wonderful, very caring & gentle. Dr. Spertus examined Zippy & was also very caring & gentle. She was very thorough & explained everything to us so that we could understand what steps we needed to take in order to help Zippy see. We are very appreciative for the service that they gave to Zippy & us.
Friday morning around 5 am we called the metropolitan vet when our dog started having seizures. Katie answered the phone and she walked us through how to monitor him at home or told us we could bring him in. After a few minutes of the seizures not stopping we decided it was time to bring him in. The staff was so incredibly friendly. We had to put riot down that morning and they managed to make the worst day of our lives a lot easier. They gave us all the time we needed to spend our last moments with him, and truly made him as comfortable as he could’ve been. I want to thank them all for the generosity and help they gave us while we were there.
I found this service to be extremely professional very up on your appointment time and the doctor gave all the time that you needed to explain and to look at your pet
Everyone at Metropolitan veterinary was absolutely wonderful when we had to rush our dog in this past weekend with a bite wound on his head. The individual who I first spoke to on the phone was extremely compassionate and very patient with me as I tried to describe my dogs injuries while dealing with my own nerves, and both nurses I interacted with showed the same level of empathy and patience with both myself and my dog. The nurses and doctor took excellent care of him and kept us informed along the way with an accurate estimate of cost up front, and detailed discharge information that was also shared with our regular vet. I am so grateful to everyone who works here, and would recommend them highly to anyone who needs emergency veterinary services.
We came a long way (out of state) for the 2nd time to see Dr. Backel specifically, and were not disappointed. She knows her stuff, she listens, asks a lot of questions and is very personable. Very pleased with treatment.
Forever grateful for all the staff at MVA - The only ER that would take Paisley in critical condition. It was a terrifying two hour drive, but as soon as we walked through the door they were prepared and took her right away. Everyone was very kind, soft spoken, & I knew right away she was in very good hands. I called about 4x for during her stay, very concerned and upset and each time they kindly updated me on her condition. I was terrified and they comforted me… I cant thank them enough for saving my lil girls life.
I waited in the parking lot for 7 hours with no communication whatsoever....cardiologist finally told me my dog was going into heart failure and needed a pacemaker. The next day I went back to my primary care vet and got an abdominal ultrasound which revealed a large adrenal tumor. This vet tried reaching back out (on Friday) to metro to discuss a future treatment plan. Metro didn’t call them back at all and didn’t call me back until Tuesday when my dog had already died...
Cant say enough about the great experience at Metropolitan Vet Hospital. My Lab was diagnosed with oral melanoma but also was showing some neurological deficits so the oncologist at Hope Vet Hospital asked me to get a neurology consultation before they would do surgery. Hope did not have a neurologist at this time so I called VRC since they were closest but they were booked for two months. I called MVH and they luckily had a cancellation two days out and I grabbed it. The waiting area was clean, well-lit with free coffee and the reception staff were very friendly. Dr. Lipitz was excellent.....knowledgeable, caring and even picked up a murmur that needed an immediate cardiology consult. She made sure I didnt have to wait for another appointment and got everything done that day even though the cardiologist was booked. I feel she went above and beyond to make sure my dog could get cleared for cancer surgery that day. Love MVH and will definitely be back.
OVERPRICED AND UNDEREDUCATED!!Initially, I felt that the assistant was very nice and helpful. I explained to them that my pregnant female cat was due any day and was looking ill. Sitting up while sleeping and breathing funny. There were other cats in my household with colds at the time. I basically was guessing that either she was in labor and having difficulty or she had the cold and possibly an upper respiring infection (I have had many cats over the years). The reason I brought her to the ER was in case of possible labor problems. To my surprise, the vet told me that she was deficient in calcium and that her lungs sounded fine. He said she wasn’t in labor and to give her TUMS.When I got home, within a few hours she gave birth and refused to feed them. One she didn’t even chew off the umbilical and I had to cut it myself. She sat in the corner and by this point she had snot coming from her nose. We attempted to had nurse the babies but they all began to come down with the cold and died even though I removed them entirely from the other cats. This vet charged me $700 for the visit. The next day after she had the babies and I realized that I had been right, it was a respiring infection, I called them saying that I would like antibiotics for her as well as told them of the doctors misdiagnosis. They actually had the nerve to tell me if I wanted the antibiotics it would be an additional $25. By that point, I had spent just about every penny I had on the visit the night before. AND WHO THE HELL TELLS SOMEONE TO GIVE THEIR CAT TUMS??ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE.
Traveled 2 hrs each way for my dog to see the veterinary cardiologist, Dr Risa Roland. This is our second visit to see her. Dr Roland and her nurse were both wonderful. The physician herself called (unable to go into building due to the covid-19 pandemic) and answered all of my questions. I had multiple questions and I did not feel rushed. I felt fully informed of my pets health after leaving the facility. I have complete confidence in this provider and would recommend her. It was also great to be seen on a Sunday not having to take day off of work. Also, this visit was rather emergent due to other issues and the staff member that took my call who does the scheduling recognized this and gave me the earliest appt available.
We had such a pleasant experience here! The facility practiced excellent COVID protocols while keeping things efficient at the same time. Our pup was treated by Dr. Durand for a dental procedure and she was such an incredible person to work with. She treated us and our dog with kindness and respect, and we felt completely confident leaving our sweet Maggie in her care! She took her time answering all of our questions and explaining everything we needed to know.Every single staff member we encountered was professional, helpful, and so warm toward our girl! We are so thankful for everyone that helped us!The pricing was great for the level of care we received. We drove over an hour each way to come here, and would do it again in a heart beat. Highly recommend!
They failed to send us home or tell us about crucial pain medication that our cat needed!!!. We took our cat home and he was clearly in pain. They mentioned that he may be a little uncomfortable at first... ok no problem we’ll monitor him over the next day or so.Flash forward 12 hours and our cat is moaning and screaming in pain. We call metropolitan and they tell us to give him the provided pain medicine. THIS WAS NEWS TO ME. They never gave us any medication when we were discharged! In addition, we were billed for medication that was never given to us. (FYI our bill was $1800 dollars. I expect top notch service if you’re going to charge such an outrageous price for a simple procedure.)Long story short, our cat dealt with extremely unnecessary pain for 24 hours because of metropolitans incompetence. They sent me home with a “hey we’re really sorry!” and a free bag of food. Needless to say we won’t be back.
This past Sunday was our first visit to Metropolitan and it was amazing. Ginger, our 4 month old female Boxer, broke out in bumps all over her body and her face was swollen to twice its size. We were referred to MVA by our Vet. We called and they took us right away. The staff was so helpful, starting with the phone call. The nurse who met us on arrival was great with Ginger and and eased our worry when she said it was probably hives...it was!! After 2 shots and a brief wait we could take her home. They gave us instructions if there were any complications later which there were not. They even called the following day to see if she was okay. MVA was very professional, thorough and compassionate.Hopefully, we will not need them again but, if the occasion does arise, we will immediately head for MVA.
My wife and I woke up last Sunday morning to our dog Mario shaking and moaning with stomach pain. So we took him (and his brother Luigi. They go everywhere together) to Metropolitan. Not only are they very professional, but they are very friendly and easy to talk to. With Covid procedures in place, we stayed in the car as a young lady came out to get Mario. Mario took to her immediately. The doctor ran tests and gave some meds. We took Mario home and in 24 hours he was back to wrestling with his brother. We couldnt be more happy. In addition, while we were in the parking lot waiting for Mario to come out, a car pulled up next to us with a couple who was obviously upset. Sadly, their dog had passed away and was in the back seat of the car. We witnessed 3 young ladies come out with a stretcher. In a gentle and caring manner, the ladies moved the dog on the stretcher and positioned him in a respectful manner on the cot and took him inside. It was upsetting to see, but how they treated the dog and family restored my faith in humanity. Hats off to all of you for helping our furry children and truly caring. You are all wonderful.John & TaraMario & Luigi
The entire staff from the time you call until you are discharged, are fantastic. Everyone is incredibly empathetic and kind. I was impressed with our Dr and nurses and the level of care my cat received. He is my bbaby! Thank you for saving his life🙏🏼
They had great COVID safety protocols in place. Triage nurse came out promptly and took care of my dog. I waited only an hour during a very busy time and the emergency vet called me to talk through her thought processes and procedures. She explained everything to me and involved me in the decision-making process. She laid out the timeline for the visit. At the end, the discharge instructions were given in great detail. I have used Metropolitan many times over the last 10 years and they have always been great. I trust the care of my dog immensely at this place.
We brought our dog Ruby to MVA early Sunday morning to be evaluated for a few different (and unrelated!) issues that had occurred since Thursday. (We are new to the area and a friend of a friend recommended MVA.) Despite not having called in advance, Ruby was taken back immediately and evaluated. The wait time was half of what I was told it might be - bonus! - and I met with with Dr.Moyer twice before opting to leave Ruby in her care for further evaluation and observation. Ruby returned to us 24hrs later a healthier and happier pup - and she is continuing to improve with the medication and rest regiment that was prescribed by the team at MVA. The entire team at MVA was communicative, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
The care is here outstanding! I had an emergency with my yorkie and they were so wonderful and calmed my fears! This little love bug means the world to me and the communication throughout the facility is awesome; Everyone from the receptionist, nursing, and doctors were amazing! I would definitely recommend and go there with any emergencies in the future!
Words cannot fully express my gratitude enough for the staff of Metropolitan.Recently, our beloved chihuahua became ill. We had taken him to 3 vets in our area in Reading and were not given clear answers as to why his health was rapidly deteriorating. He was diagnosed with Type I diabetes but was not responding well to the insulin. We took him to the emergency vet in our area (Berks Animal Emergency & Referral Center - DO NOT EVER GO HERE) -- they didnt read the urinalysis results correctly, they were flippant and uncaring, overcharged for their services which yielded no results and the facility was unkempt and uncomfortable for both us and our dog.We made the decision at 1 am to drive the 45 minutes to Metropolitan in an attempt to save our dogs life. The difference between the first emergency vet and Metropolitan was night and day.Firstly, the facility is calm, welcoming, and updated. They have comfortable seating, soothing lighting, and even a wide arrange of complimentary beverages/coffee (And not just an old pot of coffee! No, this was a deluxe system where you could make a latte, cappuccino etc.).Secondly, and most remarkably, is the staff. These are without a doubt the most caring, loving, empathetic and professional individuals that I have ever met.The receptionist who checked us in, who unfortunately I cannot remember her name (I believe she had pink hair and glasses), was *unbelievably* sweet, composed and gentle. The vet, Dr. Jennifer McGough, who was equally compassionate and gracious, was able to read the urinalysis results correctly and understood that the situation was grave. We had to make the heart wrenching decision to put our dearest dog Juan down. He was only 6 years old.I am tearing up as I write this as it has only been a few weeks (February 26th, 2020), but I at least have the utmost peace of mind knowing that we had done all that we could and that he was able to pass in the most peaceful setting. We had our own private room where we were instructed to spend as much time as we needed with him.Last year, when I saw him in my laundry hamper, his favorite, most comfortable spot, I had made the promise to him that whenever the time came, I would make sure he would be in his hamper. They were completely accommodating and understanding of this. He was able to pass contentedly in his favorite spot.Losing a pet is one of the hardest things we as pet-owners will ever have to experience. You form a symbiotic relationship with an animal that unconditionally trusts and loves you every day of their existence, all the while cursedly conscious of the reality that one day you will have to part. The greatest gift is knowing that you did everything that you could and that they were able to go peacefully. Had we stayed at that first emergency vet, I would be carrying an unbearably heavy weight with me everyday.Weeks later, when I picked up his remains, the male receptionist who was there was also very sympathetic and gentle. He handed me a beautiful bag that I waited to open in the car.I couldnt believe how special and thoughtful the contents were.Inside there was a beautifully carved wooden box with his ashes that included an engraved plaque of his name. What I didnt expect was the custom paw print of his that made me sob uncontrollably. When I hold it, its like holding his paw again. Something tangible that I can keep with me forever. In our society, the grief of losing a pet is often minimized because they arent humans. We dont hold funerals, so you have to find your own closure. What astounded me, is that they paid tribute to him the way I valued him - as my ultimate companion. The gravity of his loss was not discounted.Metropolitan gave me the gift of the best version of what is ultimately a pet-owners most dreaded experience.I will be forever grateful for them and will continue singing their praises to every pet-owner that I know.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I went to Metro after my cat would not eat for 5 days. I went to my regular vet and they said they could not do much more for him. My cat was seen that day, they didnt do any extra tests, they wrote a detailed report of what they did and what are the next steps. The visit was affordable. The doctors and nurses were so nice and helpful. My cat is doing great I am so thankful I didnt wait any longer and he got wonderful care here. I would definitely recommend this ER Vet.
The wait is long but it’s gonna be at anyplace like this the staff was so helpful and everyone was so kind.
I have taken three of my dogs to MVA. Two for cardiac care and one needed his eye removed. The vets at this practice have taken wonderful care and I highly recommend them.
My 5-year old, very active three-legged cat was having a variety of symptoms and behaviors – hobbling, legs splaying, pacing, staring into space, stuck in corners. I had an appointment with her vet, but her symptoms worsened over the Christmas holiday. Then she began howling while losing her bowels. I rushed her around the corner to Metropolitan. It was very difficult during Covid, handing a pet over to someone and sitting in the car for hours. The ER vet, Dr. Strand, said her blood work was normal; she was on the floor, didn’t want to move and didn’t want her spine touched. She was diagnosed with lumbar back/spinal pain, prescribed steroids and Gabapentin, a lower litter box, and follow up with my vet. She slept a lot, improved a little, with no problem using her regular litter box. After meds were completed, her symptoms returned and I returned to her vet as instructed. He ran additional tests but did not think it was her back. He mentioned cancer instructing me to return to Metro.Thankfully, I had a different ER vet, Dr. Suvannavejh, on my second visit. She immediately suspected a meningioma compressing my cat’s brain. She noted ear twitching – a subtle seizure. The vet asked who said it was her spine – Metropolitan! A chest x-ray ruled out cancer, but an MRI revealed two brain tumors. The steroids had reduced the compression, which is why she showed improvement. Unfortunately, six weeks were wasted treating her for non-existent back pain, and the neurologist did not recommend surgery. I had to make the difficult decision to euthanize her, something I had never done. I have family and friends who euthanized their pets and, although difficult, it was a quiet, peaceful passing. The vet said they would wake my cat from the MRI anesthesia so I could spend time with her.I returned to Metro, paid my bill and escorted inside to a small cramped room where I waited - and waited - for over an hour – listening to the laughter from the front desk. When my cat started jerking, I went out to the desk and said she needed attention, asking if someone was going to wake her, or had we been forgotten. I was about to take my cat home when a doctor appeared through a crack in the door and placed a machine on the table. Between the stress and trauma of going from lumbar back pain to two brains tumors to euthanasia, and struggling through the long wait, I had no idea what the vet said through a mask and cracked door. Before I knew it, my cat was euthanized with a loud beeping and banging machine by her head. There was no prior communication or explanation about a machine anytime during my long hour wait. No quiet, peaceful passing.I called several vets in the area and no one heard of a euthanasia machine. I learned Metro rigged it up “due to Covid,” but there was no mention of a machine in Metro’s published Covid euthanasia guidelines. My entire experience with this hospital was horrible. My bill was over $5,000 and below my standards of excellence and care. I learned from another very experience vet that my cat showed visible neurological symptoms during my first visit and notable seizures, so a neuro consult should have been advised. I can only wonder if something could have been done during those six weeks, instead of treating my cat for non-existent back pain. Meningiomas in cats usually do not invade into brain tissue and are easily removed. At the very least, I could have made her more comfortable.I know Metro is running a business for sick pets, and they appear to be understaffed. Standards of care are dependent on which vet examines your pet. Euthanasia is not a priority – but it was MY priority. Euthanasia is a last step and deserves empathy, compassion and respect – not rushed through the convenience of a machine. There is no do-over with euthanasia. I could have taken her to my vet for a respectful and compassionate passing. My cat deserved a peaceful, respectful and quiet passing. It breaks my heart that a loud beeping machine by her head was the last thing my cat heard. I expected better, and my cat deserved better.
We took our Boston Terrier to MVA emergency after we noticed he was having difficulty breathing, fainting spells, lethargy behaviors and swollen abdomen. He was taken into their hospital for treatment. I was notified of his diagnosis within a half hour. He was hospitalized overnight and given medication for his condition. Every one I had been in contact with was friendly, knowledgeable and appeared to be very concerned for our dogs well-being. The only concern we had was that we were unable to make an early appointment for our dog to see a Cardiologist prior to this emergency visit.
We have a one year old lab who had been spayed and since coming home she was vomiting and having diarrhea. The diarrhea became full of blood and she was vomiting blood as well.We took her to Metropolitan. Dr. Jennifer McGough took our pup’s history and shared her treatment plan. She listened with interest and included us in her plan. She was very patient as we babbled about our scary experience. We left Maya in great hands. The following day Dr. Crossman took over, and was equally through and caring. Thank God, Maya, with the help of these dedicated emergency Vets and technicians was returned to us after less than a 24 hr stay. I am grateful she will be okay! I highly recommend this group for pet owners who are knee deep in a critical emergency situation, they cared for Maya like she was there own.
We had to bring our 16 year old recently rescued cat to the Emergency Room at Metro at 11 PM last Saturday night. Several years ago we had a less than optimal experience with the Metro ER but I had heard from my primary vet that things had improved, so when our cat got sick that night we chose to go there. We were very impressed with the compassion and knowledge of our ER veterinarian at Metro. She diagnosed our cats problem and he was admitted to the hospital for treatment. He stayed 3 nights and the same ER vet kept us updated every day. She was extremely caring and the nurses were very good too. I would recommend Metro for emergency care.
They were very attentive to my dog. Took the time to explain everything to me and stayed within the promised fee even though my dog had to stay longer than expected.
This was a situation I never thought I would be in. Just a back story, my pup ate something he shouldn’t have without me knowing. He became very nauseous, and anxious over a 24hr period. I knew something was wrong, and took him to an emergency vet close to home without consulting anyone. This emergency vet (not my usual vet, and NOT Metropolitan Veterinary Associates), took X-rays and said his stomach looks a little distended, but there is no obvious obstruction.Fast forward 48 hrs later and I can finally get him into my usual vet (still not Metropolitan Veterinary Associates). They take their own X-rays, and clear as day, he has an obstruction in his stomach. Infuriated with the emergency vet (NOT Metropolitan Veterinary Associates) telling me the opposite, I ask my vet what’s next. I was told since my pup was not showing signs of immediate need for action and to go home and maybe we can get him to pass it...That night at 12 in the morning my dog did not pass it, he began to show signs of distress, vomiting, pacing, etc. I call my usual vet’s personal line and ask what I should do...It is at this point she tells me about Metropolitan Veterinary associates. I don’t live close by, about 75 minutes away to be exact, but my vet tells me if I am up for the drive, it will be the most favorable option to me....let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it.If I had 100 emergency vets within a mile of my home, and metropolitan was even 2+ hours away and I needed them, 10 time out of 10 I would pass every other emergency vet to go to them. They are so compassionate about you and your dog during the entire process. It might have taken 15 minutes from the moment my pup walked into their building for them to have diagnosed and given me an update on the next steps, which included emergency surgery. Mind you, there were several other cars waiting in the parking lot, and they were still able to make a speedy assessment. My dog is very large, and very anxious, and they assured me they were taking good care of him and constantly made him feel at home. They’re not a vet you need to constantly check in on, but they will be adamant about calling you to give you updates. They will do their best to treat your dog like their ownI guess if you take nothing else away from my story, take this. No one wants to be in a situation where they need an emergency vet in the middle of the night, and no one wants their pet to go through surgery. Metropolitan Veterinary Associates took amazing care of my pet. I will be forever great full for what they did for my dog. I hope I never need them again, but if I do, they will be the only place I will turn to, no matter how far I need to travel to get there
We brought our dog in last night. Although she ended up being euthanized, the vets were kind, quick, empathetic, and informative. They quickly explained Athena’s diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis. They were compassionate and understanding when we chose to put her down, and they allowed us to be with her until the very end.A top notch, kind, professional staff. They treated us with kindness while we made a very difficult decision.
Great experience with a wonderful staff . My puppy was seen by the neurology department who was wonderful and provided such good care to him. They also were thorough, took their time to explain and answer all my questions common and I had a ton. I left there feeling very informed and knowledgeable about what was happening.
I love Metropolitan. Oncology gave our family another year with our beloved 17 year old bengal cat. We will be forever grateful.
