At first, while I was on this Hi-Speed Ferry, I was like really??? It seemed to be going the same speed if not slower than the Staten Island ferry, but soon enough the ferry picked up incredible speed and I was actually impressed by how fast it was going. The seating downstairs were nice and comfortable and super cushiony while the seating upstairs were harder and thinner, but not uncomfortable - just uncomfortable when compared to the downstairs seating.Something to note is that if you want to sit upstairs, those seats usually fill up faster than the downstairs seats, so keep track of when the ferry is arriving and try to be early or at the front of the line when they begin to scan tickets.Even though there is no large city view like New York or anything, I took some of the best pictures while traveling on this ferry which definitely made me love the ferry even more. There ended up being a surprise storm up there so fair warning, if that happens, youll probably want to go back downstairs which usually leads to crowding so dont try to wait until everybody rushes.
The ferry service and the staff both on land and on the boat are timely and professional. It was my first time on a high speed ferry ( Im used to the ones in NYC, which are much more sedate) and it was an unpleasant surprise when the boat started moving at 28 knots against the ocean current. While people were enjoying the salty spray and leisurely conversation, I was hoping not to throw up. A concerned member of the crew brought me a few bags should I need to use them. I was dreading our commute back to Newport but the same crew member told me that itd be smooth sailing, and it was.In the end, I had a good experience.
The staff were super friendly and told us a bit about each spot we stopped at! This is such a perfect way to get into town without having to find one of the very scarce parking spots - we parked for free at Ft. Adams and then took this shuttle over to the wharfs for lunch! Plus you get a chance to get out on the water even if you arent a boat owner! We paid 12 dollars each and that let us ride for the whole day so it was easy to just wait for a pickup to take us back to the fort once we were all done in town. Know that they will need to shut early in inclement weather but they will do a final circuit to make sure they get all the stragglers before they shut down - just chat with the captain before you get off at your destination to figure out their plan for the day!
The way to BI no problem. The way home... my friend had a ticket for High-speed to Newport but was able to get on Pt Judith ferry. When I was trying to get some answers the Capt was rude. I get the whole late in the summer and a Hurricane baring down but still no reason to be so rude
Easy to get on board and enjoy the ride from Providence to Newport and return. No need to deal with Newport traffic or looking for park spot.
Was a nice ride my first time taking the Providence to Newport ferry. Not really a bad thing but it does take longer than I thought. There is inside seating and you can sit up top out in the open I didnt because it was an overcast cloudy day and it was too cold to sit up top.
We went on a Sunday, it was early afternoon, we had a few showers, But it was a pleasant smooth ride. And a smooth ride comming back too. Very friendly crew.
Easy to find the dock in Newport. Pleasant ride. Tip: If youre connecting to the train station in Providence, get off the boat FAST because the bus shuttle leaves before everyone has disembarked. There wasnt any communication on the boat to say when you can get off/when they are finished docking and many passengers are going round trip for enjoyment so at port, everyone does not stand up and leave. And the shutte driver didnt have someone working on the boat confirm that everyone is off before he left. (I wonder how many people missed the shuttle that day).
I took the ferry from Providence to Newport and back. Convenient schedule and they have a shuttle service to bring you to and from the dock. Will definitely consider taking the ferry my next visit to Newport.
Myself and my wife went from Providence to Newport had a great time in Newport wonderful will come back again soon from Florida

Great way to get from Providence to Newport along beautiful Narragansett Bay. Parking is free and a round trip for an adult is $22. Cant beat it.

Nice ride
It is not hi speed ^^
Very enjoyable!!
Its a boat🤷♂️
It was nice
A tiny park that is really a small stretch of grass along the harbor side. The ferry to block island leaves from here and is well organized. The park is well maintained and has nice benches for watching life on the harbor roll by.
Just beautiful!
Great central place to relax or catch the water taxi
There are a TON of tourists in this area during the Summer season. Try to avoid this place if you dont like crowds. There is ample shopping in this area and it isnt too difficult to find parking if you show up eat enough.
Park is small. Please keep in mind that during the warm months cruise ships tender to shore here so it may be a little busy. During the week tours go out so check online for times!
Great
A good place to go if you want 4 police officers to put you in intensive care. dont recommend Newport to any single men. Only for elderly.
Nice area. Not much to see but shops.
Excellent place to chill out and watch the yachts in Newport Harbor. You can also catch the harbor shuttle and ride around the harbor and goat Island all day cheap.
