Its a pretty decent gym with an above average cardio center, but what kind of gym is 0830-1630 on the weekends? I have never seen a military gym open less than 12 hours every day for a good reason
So this is where they are doing mass covid-19 vaccines. The front entrance is very clearly marked to go to the covid side or the exercise side. My experience is strictly for the covid vaccinations. When you walk in, immediately on entering wait for someone to greet you. They will escort you to where you need to sit and fill out paperwork. They do this in groups of 5 people. When you finish your paperwork someone will check it into a computer. Its on wheels, you dont have to get up they bring it to you. Then another nurse will verify your paperwork. If you have health concerns or are high risk for anything they will walk you to a PA to talk them before anything happens. They you wait for your row to be called. The downside, no privacy. You sit in the middle of the gym roll up your sleeve and they go down the line. Then each row waits their 15 min. Every 5 min they ask for a thumbs up to make sure everyone is ok. Not a bad process for a smaller clinic. If you have severe special needs you still have to be seen here bc these are the ones trained in how to mix the vaccine and it cant be done by the regular providers, that said your let then know what your needs are and these folks will do their absolute best to accommodate them. They also just started the Pfizer vaccine so 16 and over can get theirs now you just have to have a parent come and fill out the papers. You can also snap a selfie and get a sticker when youre done. Hope this helps! And sorry for typos on a mobile!
It went very smooth. They were very helpful. The lady that gave me the shot did not feel the shot. She knows how to give shots. She explain everything. Job well done
Weird rules for basketball, Apperently its an official gym rule to not allow 5 vs 5 basketball except for certaIn days of the week. Equipment equipment, staff seems unhappy to be working here. Might be time to look at who is running this place and make a change.
Its obvious that this is not the main gym for the base. That said, as far as secondary gyms go, Anderson Field House is pretty nice. My wife has been looking for a place to swim and they have a pool and allow dependents in (something thats not so common with COVID), so that meets that need. The locker room is one of the nicest DoD locker rooms I have seen. While thats a pretty low bar, its still nice to know that there isnt mold all over the place. Now wild life roaming around the showers either (though the frogs at Barksdale helped decrease the mosquitoes at the Iron Airman Gym). While I have had limited interaction with the staff, all the interactions have been pleasant.Only downside is the limited equipment for abdominal workouts. Would like to see more of that.
Very beautiful place to walk around in I has not been there since 1995 when I retired. The gym still look the same
I went there for my Covid vaccination, and I pleasantly pleased with the organization. The staff was amazing! Thank you medical staff
I have been going here off & on since Nov 1993 it has really improved & good Bennie for military & federal retirees & today I received my 2nd Cootie Shot.
Covid friendly, area outside to do some crossfit, and a good variety of equipment to fit all fitness needs.
I received my Covid vaccines here and it was a very smooth process! Thank You!
I got my second covid shot here obviously this is a gym recreational center but Im leaving my review cause I visit the facilities and I always have something to say. The nurses and staff where very friends ly they had us and the members that were coming for the gym and covid short on separate entrances by fences I think thats really good safety and cleanness was very appropriate the wairbwas absolutely 💯 fast. And professionals from the entence to the exit . Very good gob.
Excellent customer service!! Clean fitness center!!
Nice facilities... has limited occupancy with covid
What I think of when I think old school Army gym.
Decent gym but they are suppose to open at 0500 on weekdays. I arrived at 0515 and they were still not open. Its 0540 right now and there are plenty of people in the parking lot waiting. The morning time is the only time I can workout due to my schedule. The staff need to get it together. #annoyedUpdate! 0549 Apparently its a training holiday? They should really work on getting the word out. At the very least a sign. One of the ladys had to find out from the pool guy and get a sign from him to post since he couldnt leave the pool area. Glad a patron was there to save the day. I dont have to be to work until 0730. What should I do until then?
Good facility. People at the front desk are friendly. Social distancing guidelines adhered and masks required. The racquetball area where it’s set up to stretch does have an odd smell and some mold/mildew. Equipment has also been limited.
Had to get 2nd covid-19 shot
COVID vaccine on Ft. Eustis
Its a gym, what can I say!
Its a gym...thats rusting away because people who dont exercise themselves control the thermostat and thus its extremely humid. All metal has severe surface rust, but they wont listen to suggestions aka turn the AC down more or install dehumidifiers. Been this way for years, better than nothing.
Great open concept gym.
Very cold, alota equipment.
Get the staff a coffee pot for the morning shift. Nice gym with plenty of equipment. Great place for gains or loss ambitions. I would recommend different facility for Cross fit, nothing worst to look at than a wooded surface for basketball just to be taken up some of the footprint for an eye sore in the corner.
Good gym. Free weight room a bit small but all the right equipment is there. Great price...free
Love this gym! No frills, many classes, just not for those of us not Active Duty or employed on the base. All good though. The staff keeps the equipment and locker rooms neat.
First and foremost if you want to workout.l you want let the smell of sweat deter you or a small weight room. Been in there during the busiest times and if someone is using a equipment I find another workout till they are done. These people reviewing seem to forget where they are at. This gym is amazing for the size of the post.I come from Drum and McGrath is a amazing gym.. for the size of the post and just all around.
Closed effective 21 Mar 20 Covid-19. No time posted for reopening
This place has come along way from trashy old stuff to new and great!! Give it a go from Raquette ball to swimming. And the aquatic center is right next door for more swimming!!
Received my second shot today
Very nice
Been going to this gym for 20+ years. Sauna is great, good free weight selection, pool is nice. Staff are always professional and friendly.
Man I love this place. The staff are extremely friendly. Theres a basketball court, a inside CrossFit/calisthenics area, one huge weight room on the ground level, two cardio rooms (Im assuming the smaller one is for classes), and another smaller room for machines upstairs. The locker rooms are large and clean, and theres a sauna.Theres also a pool out back and an outside CrossFit area as well. No reason NOT to do your own PT.If you like running outside, you could lock your stuff in the lockers and use the track.
The gym is great but the pool has been closed to much the past 12 months.
Good people staff. Always ready to help you out. If youre unsure about equipment if they have it or not they would be able to tell you; as well as say hey this is what you can not do and this what you can and cannot bring.
Standard Military Gym.
Closed 1530 14 feb due to holiday weekend. I forgot the military is *0800-1600* for a lot of jobs
Staff is nice. gets crowded in the mornings, lunch, and after 5pm. Could have a little more weights but overall great gym
Swimming pool, gum, and court.
Great facilities but need more spots to charge equipment
Great place, friendly people .Good workout place .
This gym is the most awesome gym I had ever been to. Staff are amazing and cleanliness is top notch.
The staff are always professional and kind. The gym is in dire need of new and updated equipment and machines in the weight room
Great service for all of the patrons at Ft. Eustis!
Very nice free barbell area with multiple squat rack points and tons of olympic barbells and bumber plates for deadlifts with a chalk bucket (generally only a little in there).Weight area with in the back with the power racks and the bench presses is absurdly hot and warm. Like 82f when I was there.Upstairs cardio area is like a wind funnel and is very nice and cool.
Great facility for the amount of people who utilize it on a daily basis and a facility which is free for the soldiers.
Decent gym, but gets packed during peak hours. Needs more lifting equipment.
Great gym. Great amenities.
I love this gym. They keep it very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Nice clean facility with indoor pool and lots of well maintained cardio equipment to choose from.
The gym in 2015 to early 2016 was pretty good with nice solid equipment. You could get in a good workout and meet new people trying to get strongly and felt like a community. Came back in the end of 2017 to current and am extremely disappionted. After talking to old friends. I found out many of them were encouraged to leave for being intimidating. New equipment is garbage. This review doesnt really matter since its on a military base.
Nice facility. Kind of small, and not very user friendly to first time users. It can be a bit of a maze, but once you get use to it, it is good.
Awesome exercise equipment good hygienic supplies very nice sauna
Aside from the morning and right after work it doesnt get to packed and there is always an open bench.
They need to really clean the treadmills
Nice gym, but since the Air Force took over they never clean the basketball gym floor and the CrossFit is taking over the two basketball courts that was there.
A little bit of everything for everyone. The pool is average but it definitely gets the job done. The CrossFit area is pretty awesome if you want a place to do your own HIIT work out. The cardio selection is very sizable and if you want to play basketball there is always a game going on. Ive never rented gear from there but I think you just turn your ID in and you can borrow balls or equipment to work out.
Older gym but very well maintained with all of the equipment you would ever want or need plus a pool and raquetball.
This gym has plenty of machines for various type of exercises. Nobody bothers you, I enjoyed every minute of it.
Great equipment, and now with a large Functional Fitness area. Always clean.
Great place to work out
Kind of lacking on equipment in my opinion but has a great basketball court
Clean, and I love that they have classes for cheap. Everything you need!
Second time there. Really great gym
Great hours and you get what you need.
The weight room isnt that big to facilitate the large amount of people that go.
This gym has ample equipment, rarely overcrowded unless servicemen/women are working out indoors that day, and clean facilities for post-workout cleanup. Equipment includes a full weight room, free weights and machines, a Cross-fit styled arena, basketball & racquetball courts, laned swimming pool, spinning class, and a cardio room with stair-climbers, rowing machines, recumbent & uprights bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and punching bag. If you work for the military, are in the military, or are a family member with proper ID, you cant beat this place for convenience and full service.
Awesome gym. It has a little of everything.
Great gym lots of quality machines.
Speaking for the pool on site. Today I was at this location and expected to swim for about a half hour. When I entered the pool 3:37 I was told I only had 15 minutes to swim. All other patrons were told this. At 3:54 the guard went around to collect everyone out of the pool and he managed to get out at 4:02, now I dont know if or how well hes paid but if the hours say until 4:00 pm the I should be allowed to swim up until then with cortesy more to the patrons than the mans afternoon plans he spoke of. This is the second time this week this has happened. Last time was more of a time gap. If I could give it no stars I would. Go the Langley pool if you have the option any other day.
Clean and orderly. I always use these facilities when in the area.
Excellent gym. Has everything you need
Employees are dreadful
Great range of classes, a lot of exercise equipment to choose from. Only downfall is the cardio room stinks because they dont shampoo the sweat out of the carpets that often.
Good selection of cardio machines. Weight room is okay. Locker room is cramp.
Great staff. Only four stars because water/condensation drips from the ceiling in the locker room.
Decent facilities
Great gym with everything one needs.
The pool says its open from early till 2000. Its actually closed from 1330 till 1600ish.
Has a good track. Needs maitenence
If you love racquetball this is a great gym for you. Tons of space and lots of equipment.
Best swimming pool.
Big gym with little inside. Space is mainly for sports and weight room is neglected.
Ok gym pretty good equipment
Awesome functional fitness area.
Get a good work out here
Great service and excellent equipment
Heat and a.c. never work in locker room, crowded at lunch time. need more than one preacher bench
Great gym lots of equipment
Run off the mill gym, with run off the mill rules. Youve been in one, youve been in all.
Great facility with excellent equipment.
Good Facilites
For a field house it is sort of small, the basketball court only has 1 full court available due to the cross fit area out back. Needs improvement, but it gets the job done
After coming from FT Lewis this gym was a big disappointment. It does have what I must have but little else.
My favorite place on base💪😄
Great service, decent weight room
OUTSTANDING ARMY gym
Great gym for military folks
My fave pool.
Spin class! They have it too!
