Not what they used to be. Weve been customers for 12 years and in the last 5 or so customer service has tanked. Lets start at the beginning shall we?When we bought the house we paid for a system inspection. Everything checked out fine. A few years later a technician tells us that the fill and vent pipes are a mismatched size and needs to be replaced at our cost to prevent fill issues.Shortly after that repair we had our first ever fill issue in which the fill pipe leaked. When we got home that Friday night after work I called repeatedly until someone in the office would pick up the phone. The answer was to keep calling their emergency number because the office was closing soon. Meanwhile we couldnt be in the house on a cold late fall night. When we stopped using propane because of a change in our water heater I told them this and asked that we stop getting the enertrac fill reminders. No one mentioned that a few years later we would receive a bill for $170 because we hadnt ordered propane. So here I am sitting on hold 6 business days after I called about this letter. I called on a Friday so of course once again no one can help me. I was told they would call back Monday or Tuesday. Im sitting on hold a week later from the expected call back. The whole time the repetitive ads on hold are about 24/7 service, and positive reviews enter you into a $100 drawing. When Ive finally gotten through I had to again wait on hold for the service rep to check something, but then still couldnt answer my other simple question, so I have to wait for them to call back. I wont hold my breath. Were done here.
Weve been customers (and now it feels like victims) of Proux Oil and Propane for 6 years. We moved into our new home and had our full system checked out for Propane (a 150 gal propane tank... which was MORE than what we needed) and Oil. Everything checked out fine and we were off. After roughly 4 years, we started noticing our Oil shipments were coming in later and later regardless of us calling ahead to let them know our tank was running low. This resulted in multiple times where the tank would run try and we would have to pay an additional fee to get it restarted. After almost 4 of these experiences, we finally stopped oil service.Fast forward to this year where Proux reached out to us w/ a $170 fee on our Propane for Low use / tank rental fee. I contacted Proux to try and discuss this and the customer service rep offered ZERO customer options outside of a not so subtle offer that maybe this fee would go away if we reinstated our Oil deliveries with them. I asked if we could have a smaller tank (we inherited the 150 gal tank), they said that was fine, but that we would still have to pay the Low Use Fee as well as a tank swap out fee. Literally not willing to budge an inch.Well, Im voting with my wallet. Were moving forward with someone else for our Propane as well as our oil. If Proux is interested in earning customers back... it seems like they have a long way to go with the trend of reviews right now. This feels like a pathetic cash grab by a company not interested in any kind of positive customer experience.
If I could give 0 stars I would. The have unfair and illegal business practices and will charge you fees you never agreed to. Steer clear!
Service people did not know how to work on our new system. Service person was watching YouTube videos to fix it. Had several labor charges when nothing was done to the system at all because the person didn’t know what to do. Got charged for pieces they said were replaced, but found out were not when hired a different service person. After three years of service, getting charged $420 because we were 30 gallons short on usage this year.
I find it very helpful to be able to check the amount of propane left in the tank. Proulx monitors it and they send a truck out to refill it when it gets low., which is convenient and worry free.
Ask any question and CS will put you on hold and blast an annoying jingle, so DO NOT call on headphones. Also, you are forced to buy an entire fill of propane, even if that is 3 years of use.
In the middle of our last official heat wave my whole house A/C decided to stop putting the drain water outside the house and started dumping in in my cellar! I called Proulx and within 2 days the tech was here to diagnose and fix the issue. He was totally personable and professional and did an great job. I was very impressed that even though Im not an oil customer of the company they responded quickly to come and fix the system (they installed it MANY years ago). I would definitely call them again if I have any more issues!
This will be my 3rd winter with Proulx. From the installation of our propane heater to delivery when I call. They are always friendly and helpful. Great company great customer service.. Thanks Proulx..
Steve the Technician was on time, came well prepared, installed our new water heater. Very nice and neat, cleaned up the area. Everything looks and functions perfectly. Very impressed!
This will be our second year with Proulx, last year we were very satisfied with our service and plan on continuing for years to come.
EDIT TO ORIGINAL POST=Bridget in the office escalated my issues and concerns to the Real Manager, unlike Mandy, who shouldn’t be in a management position, Bridget should be in her position. Anyway, the manager apologized for the issues I have had and credited me back all my monies I had spent. If you have any issues do not deal with Mandy, call and speak to anyone else but her. Thank you so very much to Bridget for working hard to fix my issues and make me a satisfied customer. And thank you to the manager who refunded me for my troubles.Proulx Oil and propane Newmarket NH stay far away from!!!Totally unprofessional customer service manager named Mandy over a tank rental fee.. Already paid for the propane, paid for the automatic refill fee but you have the audacity to charge yet another fee.. And Mandy in customer service is so utterly unprofessional. That’s okay because you just lost a customer, have to give a credit for the fuel I already paid for and earned yourselves a bad review and hopefully someone else will learn not to use your company... #proulxoilandpropane
Ive been a Proulx propane customer for over 7 years now. I appreciate the excellent service I have received over the years. And its always nice to work with a local provider, not the big chain. Support local business. In one instance after building our new house we had some issues with how the builder put the tank in. The Proulx technician came out in the middle of a freezing February snowstorm to break through ice around the top of the buried tank and remove water that had accumulated. Without his fast actions we would have been without heat. Our most recent tune-up to our furnace and on demand hot water unit was well worth it. The Proulx technician was very professional and knowledgeable. And he explained all his work to me as he was doing it. I highly recommend Proulx Oil and Propane.
I found it necessary to leave a review for this company. I have been struggling with my current propane company for years. The customer service I received from Mandy was amazing. I am not even a current customer with this company and she was beyond helpful with assisting me in finding out my best options for purchasing a propane tank. I would recommend this company alone for their compassion and understanding of needs! Thank you, and look forward to future fill ups!
Came home from vacation to a cold house. Checked tanks that were empty. Called emergency service and was immediately called back by Stacy. Set up for delivery that evening as it was a Sunday. Angel arrived, did a safety check and filled our tanks. The whole experience was excellent after a tiring day of flying...thank you for the great service.
As a new resident to New England from California, I was introduced to propane as the fuel that would be needed to heat our new build home. In California we had no choice, we had one service provider for both gas and electric and the customer service was awful. Our builder introduced us to Sean Murray our sales and account manager from Proulx Oil & Propane, for our propane needs. I highly recommend Sean, he has been a life safer more than once. Being new to propane, our first winter in New England and our electronic reporting monitor not working correctly, we ran out of propane during a very cold winter night. Sean had given me his cell phone number when we moved in and told me to call if I ever needed anything. Unfortunately, I had to call him after hours for help. He was so polite and told me not to worry I will get you fuel ASAP...he did not disappoint. The winter of 2017/2018 was an unseasonably COLD winter and many people in NE needing fuel. Sean was able to have a truck at my home within 2 hours from my call. The technician made sure all my appliances and furnace were working before they left. Proulxs customer service and technicians go above and beyond any service provider I have ever used. If you are in need of Propane or Oil dont hesitate to call Sean Murray with Proulx Oil & Propane, you will not be disappointed!
I switched my propane provider to proulx a few years ago and have had nothing but the best experience from the first phone call to start the switch the customer service is great as well as the pricing. I would definitely recommend anybody looking into either switching providers or starting a new account to give proulx a call.
The customer service person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful. He gave me pricing and explained all my options in a friendly and respectful way. I needed an emergency propane delivery for our home hat we purchased only a few months ago and we did not have an account with any supplier. The delivery arrived promptly in under two hours. The two delivery men were courteous and knowledgable. The experience was fantastic and made what could have been a very stressful situation much less so.
We have had an excellent experience with Sean Murray and Proulx Oil since we have moved into our new home. Sean has been extremely attentive, kind and has gone WAY above and beyond anything we could have expected. He even left the hospital hours after his wife had a baby to help us with a set up for an outdoor fireplace!!! I would highly recommend Sean and Proulx Oil to everyone! Anytime Ive called the customer service department with inquiries, everyone Ive talked with there has been equally wonderful. Thanks to Sean for being so great a pleasure to work with!!
Nothing but friendly, professional service so far! As first-time homeowners, my husband and I werent sure which fuel company in the area to do business with when we needed our first delivery and heating system inspection this fall. Were really happy we chose Proulx. Everyone weve communicated with in person or by phone--customer service, delivery, and equipment service personnel--has been so helpful and respectful. Not to mention, I called two days ago to request another (non-urgent) delivery and someone came the next morning! This team has definitely exceeded my expectations.
Ive used Proulx for almost two years now and have never had a problem with them. They came pretty quickly for initial setup and deliveries have never taken more than three days from requesting fuel. My only gripe is that I cannot view the market price for propane and their payment plans dont seem worth the hassle (but propane has been steadily low for almost a year and a half now).
1/19 update - they have resolved the situation. They took the difference between what they owed us (August ~$400) and what was charged in November (~$550) and only charged us the difference. They then allowed Dead River company to purchase our tank. While I wish the situation never happened, I’m glad it was effectively and fairly resolved.11/30 update making this company even worse:After overcharging us in August with no refund - your people showed up at my house yesterday without being called (11/29). I ran outside and REFUSED THE SERVICE - I have all of this on tape from my doorbell. He said that was fine and they left. He said the tank was at 45% and call us when it’s at 30% and he would change us to will call NOT auto fill.Today (11/30) WHILE I WAS SLEEPING - your company CAME BACK AND FILLED OUR TANK - are you psychotic? Do NOT come on our property again - and I guarantee you will not receive a cent from us for that tank fill you did today considering I REFUSED YOHR SERVICES.** also note on yelp they have 1 star. Not a single review on yelp is more than 1 Star **We called Proulx because it was who our builder used when the built our house for propane. They gave us an estimate of $1,007 for a 100% full tank (stupid because you can’t even fill the whole tank anyway but whatever). We let them pre authorize the charge. They said if the slip left at our house was less than the charge then we would have to call and they would credit us back. A little ridiculous but ok. We get the slip, it totals $652.46 for an 80% tank fill. Called the company, she said oh no that’s a mistake we didn’t charge you the right rate. Your total is actually $1006.XX. Conveniently close to the original $1007 you quoted us? NOT what our slip says. Yeah I don’t think so. They’re scam artists. Well take our business elsewhere.
Didnt really like them when I jad them on my lcondo complex, and aftet letting my tank run down and wanting to charge me $100 for a leak check Im discontinuing usong them as a provider.... Mainly because they identified my tanks meter as defective and left it that way for months without saying a thing.
They make almost everyone pay some sort of deposit. They cant explain fees at all. They cant read a meter correctly. Also one month say I use 4 cf then the next 40 cf with no change in usage actually my heat was off for three days so there are three days of just water 0 heat! I want someone to contact me from your office or Im changing over real quick to propane
We have only been a customer a few months but we have found them to be very easy to deal with. They are friendly and eager to help. So far the service has been excellent.
After a power outing in Derry NH we called Sean Murray he was great in helping through face time getting things going for us with the generator for the heat, very helpful.thank you so much mr. Sean Murray. .Victor
Helpful and respectful, satisfied with service.
I really wish I did NOT have to leave this company ANY stars. They DO NOT deserve even 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tanks are placed illegally. They took money out of my account when I dont have them anymore!!!!!!!!!!! $127.50 I could have used this weekend. I am so upset right now I could scream. They dont open until Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are many other companies that are much cheaper and have MUCH better customer service!!! I dont know how I will get my money back from them. They DO NOT call you back when they say they will. This is a very bad situation right now. I will be posting all pictures of illegal tanks if something isnt done on MONDAY.
Stacy, Art, Steve and Todd are wonderful to work with! I would recommend Proulx to anyone! Thank you guys for being awesome.
On the phone they told me once my new account was processed they could deliver in two weeks. The following day received an email with a completely different story with no clue when they could deliver. Sure, its a crisis and demand is up, but zero integrity from the start is not a winning strategy to get new customers.
When my husband and I realized our tankless water tank had tanked with no hot water timing couldn’t be worse. We were having 19 guests for Thanksgiving and expecting house guests. I couldn’t imagine how we were going to pull this off. My new routine: boil water, hand wash dishes and very cold showers. I made several calls searching for a quick fix and was told it’s a busy time of year. Most were booked 2 weeks out (after Thanksgiving). When I called Proulx they were also booked 2 weeks out. At the end of the day feeling hopeless about the situation the phone rang. It was Steve Gallant from Proulx - “Proulx can do this, I’ll be there in the morning.” Honestly I felt like an angel called. We are so thankful for their service and hot water. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We called Proulx to deliver oil to us, and because we are a new customer they needed to inspect the tank. No one was home but they were hiven access to the oil tank. We ordered 150 gallons and prepaid it. A reciept was left which stated we were onlyGiven 50 gallons. Three days later we revieve a phone call saying that our tank failed inspection because they couldnt tell if our pipes went intoConcrete on the floor but once we get it fixedThey will deliver the other 100 gallons, unless of course, we want to buy a new tank. We shoukd have been told immediatly if our tank failed inspection and had the option to not recieve the 50 gallons
I wont do business with Proulx anymore due to their dishonestly. I do not trust their drivers and will give my business to a propane company I have used in the past that I trust.
Very customer friendly.
I know the Proulx family and they are kind caring and super nice people
Ive been using Proulx at three different residences for nearly 10 years. I started with them when another company insisted I needed to spent thousands to replace older equipment. Proulx found a way to safely and affordably upgrade the equipment for much less. In our current residence we know have propane as well as oil and we never run out. As a big plus, whenever I have a question or concern I get a Real Human immediately upon calling their offices. As another Newmarket business owner Im also pretty impressed to see them stepping up to help the community in different ways. Virtually no complaints.
Inherited proulx tank with house never signed a contract and had to pay a $200 deposit for tank because we do not use credit ever, pay cash for just about every thing even house.. So we switched companies, old tank still had 20% fuel a few weeks later they pick up tank and send me a bill for tank pick up $80 no adjustment for my fuel also denied I paid $200 deposit.. BTW no mention was ever made if a tank pick up fee... Proulx you get nothing! And like it.
Recently has ordered inspection and repair services. Both visits were professionally performed on time and with high quality.
We have been customers for 4 years. I cannot and will not complain about their propane delivery. However, as for their service side....I grade it an “F”. I will not go into details here. They are well aware of my complaints. I even wrote a letter directly to the top and did I receive a response....NOPE!!!So buyer beware... all I want to do is buy my tank so I can move on and they want to charge me $2,500!!!! I can buy a new one for $1,600. It’s underground so it would cost a lot to dig it out. I should have bought it out right when we bought the house.***********************************************Your response below came 2 days ago (June 12th)....today is June 14th. Address my complaints with me?? Or just internally??? Wow! Now that’s customer service!!
This company is the worst I have every delt.with Im disabled I cant afford automatic delivery. Im on fixed income .they just came today took my regulator .so me and my 4 yr old child have no heat tonight on a cold night in november. They came at 430 pm .with no warning.they have all my contact info. For someone to do that after having them for 6 yrs. Is sad. I explained to them when they came .I wouldnt recommend them. Worst company every. Carama. 10 fold.dont let them do this to you go to another company. That works with you.
WHAT does autofill mean to you? To me it means reliable service delivery on a schedule. Called customer service for status of AUTOFILL delivery before the winter storm & Proulx is still a no show. Numerous calls :result in same excuse of getting gas to the people without gas. WELL now were without and its the same excuse. Seriously, how backed up can an oil and propane service company be? Reading the reviews posted, it seems service from Proulx is rated beyond extremely poor - deservedly so.
Great service !
They are always willing to work with you. I went through a hardship and they were understanding and helpful..I used them for over 13 years.
The customer services I received in todays storm was admirable. Rob and Sean were two of the nicest service techncian I have ever met. They had to worked in terrible conditions of todays noreaster and went above and beyond to make me feel safe and keep me in my home on the New Hampshire Seacoast. I have never had a bad expereince with this company, everyone is so considerate and I communicate with real people all the time. Thank you Rob and Sean for your quick replies, comminucation and positive can do attitude. You both are an assest to the Proulx team!Lou Fahey
“Proulx has been my fuel provider of choice for 20 years since I moved to my home in Rye. The team at Proulx make me feel appreciated! ”.
In a word - TERRIBLE. Run away. If I could give negative feedback I would. And unfortunately they dragged Bourque Oil down with them by association.
Excellent customer service and dedicated to safety and quality.
Horrible place to get your propane. They have no one to service boilers and cant recommend anyone that will actually call you back. Now my boiler is out on the coldest night of the year. Chalk me up as a former customer.
Customer service in my opinion was horrible, ya propane delivery was quick but tried having a generator hooked up and connected and was the worse experience and took forever so I decided to go with a diff company after the many excuses they told me as to why they kept coming out and couldn’t do the work, instead of being up front about it at the beginning of the job after I paid them half the money up front they always had a excuse why they couldn’t do the connection, and the customer service they talk to you like your a idiot
Awesome Company, reccomend highly.
Unreliable and shady. Extremely rude customer service. Late and behind on deliveries. One star is too much - if I could give zero stars I would.
Friendly people, and you actually get a real person when you call, not a robot. I see this company out and about in the community all the time.
We are on automatic delivery and have been out of fuel and calling for 13 hours with below zero temperatures and children freezing...with no response at all
