I’ve been looking for a good barber for a while now. I was encouraged that this place is by appointment only. Figured they were going to be on their game. Made an appointment, and waited.Four days later, on the day of my appointment, my appointment was canceled, and I received an apology email stating that the barber I was scheduled with had something come up, and wasn’t working that day. No worries, things happen.Made a second appointment for four days later, which was today. Walked in, five minutes early.One of the barbers said hello, and that was it. Sat there for 15 minutes, and no one else so much as greeted me, told me that I was next, asked me if I had an appointment, nothing.In summary, my first appointment was canceled, and my second appointment was 15+ minutes late before I just left.By the way, no one asked me where I was going, nothing.This is unacceptable for a place that is by appointment only. They make such a big deal about their cancellation/no show policy, I thought for sure this would be a minimum wait. Sure was disappointed.The quest for a good barber continues.

Absolutely love this place! I went on a Tuesday mid-afternoon and was helped with no wait. I was preparing to wait for a while because I heard this place was popular but they were able to take me right away! This is a hip place with style and I love everything from the empty whiskey bottles that they use to dispose of old razors to the mirrors with stickers on the back. This is a place with personality. I love the haircut I got and got my beard trimmed up nicely too (Thanks Shannon!). I feel like this is the type of place that turns people into regulars after their first visit. I will definitely be returning!

My husband has been going to see Corey for a while and has always been so happy with his hair cut and beard trim. 5 stars for that. But this review is really about how Corey took care of my 2 year old son today. For my sons precious 3 haircuts, we went to one of those kid specific hair cut places and my son has always had a meltdown. We figured wed give Daddys barber a try. Corey was fantastic. My son was happy throughout the whole haircut and is so proud of it! So, not only does Corey do great haircuts (for all ages) and beard trims, but he handles stubborn, tantrum-prone toddlers with ease! Thank you so much!

Ive been coming here for the past three almost 4 years and I just simply love them. Every single one of them has their own style of cutting hair and ultimately leave you with he perfect hairstyle/cut. And that is simply because they listen to what you want done. I dont go anywhere else, even if my hair is looking a hot mess and needing a cut asap. I wait until I have time to go to GBS!!!

This seems like a nice place to get a haircut if you become a regular. I had a single hair cut here and had to come in on one of their non-appointment days, because they were booked up for the next several weeks. I mean, good for them for getting that much business, but it was really convenient for me. I waited for over 45 minutes, though the haircut itself was very nice, and the price seemed reasonable for what you got, but it might be a bit much for your average Joe.

Garret’s came highly recommend by a friend, I chose to get a cut and shave there the day before my wedding. The atmosphere is awesome, great music, and the chairs are super comfortable. Corey did an amazing job, he spent an hour an half on me making sure everything was perfect for my big day! As a first time customer I was blown away by the service of this place. I’ve never looked so good, nor had such a great experience with a barbershop. I will be back for sure!

I have been looking for a place to get my hair cuts for a very long time.Been to many different barber shops. This is by far the best.I get mine done by Greg, if he is not available than the owner.Could not be more happy, I can finally stop switching from place to place.

Very professional and a great haircut. The ambience is great and all the employees look like they care about what they do. Additionally the model of having one barber constantly doing walk-ins is great, they were fully booked yet I still got a haircut without a long wait. Would recommend, and Ill tell my dad to start coming here since hes been looking for something like this.

Garrett and the whole team put a great emphasis on making sure every customer is satisfied and comfortable from the second they walk in the door to when they walk out. Check out their hair products too, Founders pomade is the only product Ive used that can hold my hair without leaving me looking like a a shiny porcupine.

Garretts is an excellent barber shop with a lot of talented people working there! Ive been going since I was a kid and had the opportunity to get my hair cut by Garrett himself.My only issue is the price is a little high but you always end up with a great haircut!

Ive been getting my haircut here for a few years now. The staff is friendly, shop is kept clean, free WiFi. Squareup for appointments is rock solid and theres never an issue. Danielle is wonderful and always cuts my hair perfectly!

Get a great look and what you need for so much less with a blended casual/gentleman atmosphere to boot. Ive gotten my beard/haircut done at art of shaving a few times before for special occasions. Whole 9 yards treatments but the bill to match. Ive gotten two excellent trims/cuts so far with everything I wanted and nothing I didnt for less than 1 trip to AoS. Im going to Garretts now.

This place is great. Garrett, Elias, and Danielle take pride in their work. I go 20 minutes out of my way to enjoy their services, conversation, decor, music selection, and overall knowledge. A professional shave is a lost art that theyve perfected. I always enjoy my visits.

Made a 2 oclock appointment, got there 10 minutes early. About five other customers arrived after me. No one asked if I had made an appointment. Every single person that arrived after me was seen before me. I sat down at 1:50pm, I walked out at 2:30pm. No-one spoke too me. I will not be returning.

The only negative reviews of this barbershop are people whining about how hard it is to get in. Really, doesnt that tell you everything you need to know about the quality of their service? Demand is high for a reason. The barbers here know their trade, and the atmosphere is classic and comfortable. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment.

I went there with my son because it seems to be a cool barbershop. the guy on the first chair told me that some one would take us shortly, then 3 barbers finished and no one acknowledged me and my son at all, then one of the barbers took a gentlemen that came in way after us also as of walking just like us. after wating for a while I decided to leave.

Walked in without an appointment. Didnt have to wait. Great Service. Good Price.

Ive been here a total of 2 times while living in Connecticut, and the atmosphere is great dont get me wrong. But the same guy has cut my hair both times and when I leave always regret spending the amount of money I did. If you get the right barber I guess youre good to go, but the barber I get is not great.

Referred by my spikey styling cousin, whose hair is always amazing, I figured this place has to be great. I was a walk-in, so I waited my turn and then was called up next by a barber named Jon. He understood what I wanted, suggested some great ideas and went at it like Mr.Scissorhands. was amazing to watch him work and when he was done, I couldnt be happier with the end result. Made an appointment for 2 pm and waited until 245 before I was even talked to also no reason of why I had to wait so long or a Message to let me know I would have to wait an hour after my appointment start time to get seen. I don’t know if it was because appointments ran over or what.

Had many bad haircuts while searching for a good barbershop. Have been going to Garrets for years and its the only place I will go when visiting from CA. They use classic and current techniques. Professional and stylish cuts at a reasonable rate.

A thoroughly modern barbershop, but with classic barbershop vibe, and a touch of hipster. A fun, light, eclectic atmosphere, with people who know how to cut hair.

Yesterday I had my second haircut from John at Garretts. I have never had so many compliments about a haircut as I did about this one. I am in my 60s and so when Im told I look five years younger, that is saying something. I hesitate to recommend John however as I dont want him getting busier as it will make it harder to get an appointment!

I highly recommend not going here. The owner Garrett is arrogant, and rude to customers. Dont be surprised if you stop by to find the door unlocked and the open sign still displayed only to get turned away like youve just broken in. Much higher quality haircuts available at New In Town Cuts (Newington) and Finesse Cuts (Middletown).

Great haircuts that are difficult to find

This review is of a particular barber that works at Garretts. Went here twice before and received wonderful service. The first time I received a great cut from a barber that does not work there anymore. The second time my experience was similar as the same barber cut my hair. So I figured the third time would be the same. However, I was terribly wrong. A barber by the name of Jon butchered my hair. He is a very unexperienced barber, who did a subpar job listening to my inquiry. I asked for him to fade my hair starting from 1.5 to .5 and he agreed to do so. From the moment he started cutting my hair I knew he was doing it wrong but it was far too late to stop him. A few minutes later he showed me my hair cut all around 1.5! He had not idea what a fade was in the first place.... ( like seriously) I look awful now and am very upset. I was so upset that I nearly walked out halfway through the hair cut. In addition, this dude put a pair of clippers to the top of my long beautiful hair and chopped off too much hair accidentally then tried to salvage the hair cut by cutting off, even more hair (complete mess). This is by far the worst haircut I have ever received in my life and when I was younger my mom cut my hair.... (says a lot). This barber does not meet the standards of other barbers that work at Garretts and should return to barber school in order to learn the basics of hair cuttery. He might have had a bad day because he was sick and constantly sneezing and coughing, however, that just shows his lack of professionalism from not staying home. Just because he was having a bad day doesnt mean that he should ruin the next two weeks of my life because now I have to walk around with this garbage haircut on my head for two weeks. Even though there may be other good barbers at this shop, I will never be coming back again and will never recommend this place to anyone.
