I love Newberry opera house! Its a cool place to experience. They have all kinds of different shows, & the venue is definitely the prized historic building of Newberry. You should definitely go! There are a lot of big name people that have played here!
So much fun was a great experience and such a nice place to see
My wife and I have seen a variety of performances at the Newberry Opera House. What a fantastic venue and they offer such a wide selection of shows. In my opinion, there is no bad seat in the house so we never worry if we cant sit close to the stage.
Came down from Richmond Virginia to see the John Anderson concert. The Opera House is a wonderful place with friendly staff. Beautiful both outside and inside.
Ambassadors training was excellent. As always NOH very professional.
Went to Tams concert lovely place Great venue
Delightful small venue with great acoustics. Seating is currently distanced for safety, all of the very friendly staff masked and gloved, patrons masked. Wonderful return to live music.
An awesome theater with class acts of all kinds.
We happened to stop on a tour day, which I found out are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Our tour guide, Heather, was very gracious and knowledgeable. She showed us the dressing rooms and historic pictures that filled the walls. Then, she took us to the autographed walls with many hundreds of artists and musical bands that have graced this hallowed venue. I saw the likes of Mickey Rooney, Barbara Eden, and many country music stars from decades past and present. It was all very impressive! The last stop was the stage. It was humbling to stand there looking out to the intimate auditorium of some 450 seats and imagine what it would be like being out there on opening night! This was a very delightful stop and highly recommend it.
Disappointed, there is only one ghost story for such an old building. It is nice but was not restored to original condition and the theater was changed from the original. I appreciate the people who raised money to save it and respect their decision as to what was done but...... it was a disappointment. Its free to visit and there is even a tour guide. Visit if you pass through Newberry and have an extra hour.Leave a few dollars as a donation to help with expenses if you can.
What a wonderful experience Friday night for Deaz Guys. Best show ever. Staff was above and beyond kind and helpful. Cant wait to go back.
Saw the nutcracker, awesome show. The opera house is always a neat place. The place was clean and people were cleaning continuously the handrails and such.
Cola Jazz was great. Thanks to the opera house on the save distancing and reminding all to keep their masks on while on the premises.
Such a great community organization. Saw many shows there as both a patron and as an Ambassador.
Attended a performance of, Balsam Stage. An award-winning blue grass ensemble. The show was impeccable and the musicians were at the top of their game. I am not Blue Grass affectionate but enjoy well played music regardless of genre. The lead vocalist was impressive. Recommend the group if performing near you.The Newberry Opera House is a favorite venue of mine. Built in the late 1800s and restored a couple of times. Very comfortable, good acoustics and great staff. Tours are available. The green room walls have many signatures, some of which are notable. Some on their way up to fame and some going down. I recall someone telling me,You have to have been a been in order to be a has been otherwise youre just a never been.
Such a cool historic place!
We love the Opera House. We are so blessed to have such a gem in Newberry. 💕
Enjoyed the show of the Malpass Brothers great little town.
A really great place for entertainment!!!
So personal. I really enjoyed the experience
Beautiful place. An absolute must if you can catch a show here.
Just saw the John Denver (Ted Vigil) show there. Great show and great friendly staff at Newberry Opera House
Matthew gave us a great tour and shared the history of the building from the 1800s to today.
Great venue for concerts because theres not a bad seat in the place and ticket prices are reasonable. Hotels and restaurants are close making for enjoyable visits. Opera House staff are friendly and helpful.
My wife and I took a one tank get away trip to Newberry to experience the town. In early afternoon we took a guided tour of the Opera House provided by Phil. He was extremely thorough and very engaging. We enjoyed the history and knowledge shared. The facility has a great life, and the storied past allowed the imagination to run wild. Well worth the time if interested in architectural and small town history.
It had been a long time since we saw a show at the Newberry Opera House and with COVID 19, any other experiences were even further delayed. My husband and I were looking for something to do for our upcoming anniversary and I saw the Electric Light Orchestra Experience with A New World advertised for Saturday, October 17. I remembered some songs that ELO played, but my husband loved them so I got tickets. The seats were great in Orchestra Left, Row J. The theater has made provisions for COVID by blocking off at least half of the theater seats. There was no one immediate in front, to the side and behind us. This made for some great viewing and less crowding. Everyone was good and wore masks and there was hand sanitizer available should someone need it. The show was FANTASTIC. The strings, the drums, the guitarist, keyboards and singers....I would most definitely pay and see them again. I only regret not taking a short video clip of the finale ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN...what an ending. PS. We had reservations across from the park at Steve Ws (you do need a reservation). We had a great meal prior and just walked across the street for the show...I would most definitely go back again to see another upcoming show. Best Wishes to all! Debbie Franco, Augusta, GA
Attended many performances there and the acoustics and facility are wonderful. Recently attended their Park Jam Series on a Friday. Best live music ever. Vilai Harrington and the Hamptones were wonderful.
Just saw Travis Tritt perform at the Newberry Opera House (January 22, 2020). I love this place! Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful. Cant wait until my next visit. Keith Perry, Lexington, SC.
Been coming here for 10 years. Great theater to see the artists as you are close enough to really get a feel of their talent. Many artists leave the stage and perform in the theater aisles. Prices are very reasonable. Also enjoy the fantastic town that is Newberry. Also enjoy eating close by at the Grille on Main. Altogether a wonderful experience. Also enjoy the annual Oyster Roast put on by the Opera House Guild.
The seating is good. We were greeted as we came in and thanked for coming as we left. To me, The Opera House has a charming old world feel.
Well prepared for COVID! Nice small opera house.
This was our first time at this place. It was easy to spot from the road. The inside were beautiful. The sitting could be more comfortable but that is being picky. The staff was wonderful is getting us to our seat. Most of all, my mom love it.
Great venue to see a performance.
This is an historic opera house built about 1880 and is totally restored. There is not a bad seat in the house.there are snacks and drinks including coffee but none can be taken in to the seating area. There are drawings to support various efforts and there is something going on most any day. The Christmas concerts are fabulous. There is an elevator for those that need it but the wide carpeted stairs is a wonderful experience. Across the street is a terrific UPSCALE restaurant and a walk down the street window shopping reveals many historic features of the community. Check out the Thanksgiving figurine collection! For those that want to stay overnight at the hotel across the street which also has a good restaurant and free parking.
This is the cutest and most quaint theater Ive ever been to. Since Im a lover of everything old fashioned, I greatly appreciated this venue. Its located in downtown Newberry which also gave me my healthy dose of nostalgia, and the Opera House was nothing short of vintage perfection. Theres a nice reception area downstairs with the theater located on the upper floor. I cant wait to see another show here, I really enjoyed myself!
Beautifully restored venue, that presents an intimate setting for any type of performance. Along with that comes excellent acoustics with literally not a bad seat anywhere in the audience. I have been to over a dozen performances here and every one was top notch !
Quaint, historic opera style theatre. Quite small. I have only been inside once for a ballet so I cant speak for the acoustics.
A beautiful venue with great acoustics! Staff was very friendly. Super clean facility, good parking.
Amazing place. Though not that large the acoustics are great without being overpowering.Staff is very friendly and can give suggestions on other local attractions and restaurants.Ample free parking is more than sufficient to cover any event.Definitely coming back.
Neat space with a friendly staff
Love attending events at the Opera House. The staff are so welcoming and fell like your family. The venue takes you back to your youth. The accustic are great. Not a bad seat in the house. We enjoyed The Embers performance.
Newberry opera house was beautiful and well-staffed with courteous, friendly people. There was ample public parking in a lot only one short block away. The tickets were fairly priced and they offer a military and student discounts. The show was stunning and inspiring to watch from our comfortable orchestra box. Intermission was bustling with a variety of choices for the very young to the most seasoned patrons at affordable rates. The restroom was clean and I was pleasantly surprised to find a sofa in the waiting area of it. We also enjoyed the local restaurants that stayed open until after the performance let out. We especially liked the coffee shop and the ice cream parlor. What a lovely place.
Beautifully maintained historic building!! Fairly comfortable seats for seats that are all connected to each other. Looked like most every seat would be good seat for viewing stage. Super friendly and abundant staff/volunteers.
A spur of the moment evening. Had a good time with friends. Really nice opera house and a must go at least once if the opportunity arises.
Although it has been some time since performing there I always found the front and back of house, management and especially those awesome ladies and their delicious fried chicken they gave us in the green room to be easy to work with and fair with the acts . The theatre itself has an intimate vibe and the location, historic and has great acoustics for piano concerts!!! Id love to play there again and hope that everyone Breaks a Leg!!. :) Sincerely, Rocky Fretz
What a great night! We went to see Don Felders concert on February 14th. We found the Newberry Opera House to be a terrific venue to see a concert. I dont believe that there was a bad seat there. The acoustics were great! It was our first visit so we dont know if it was the fact that Don Felders band was so good, or the Opera House acoustics, or both. We drove from the south side of Charlotte so we loved staying across the street at Hampton Inn. It was great to walk back to the hotel. Thanks for the fun night! We will definitely be back!
Saw Don Felder last night. Man, what a show! The acoustics are unbelievable! Will definitely be back!
Classic venue. Always a variety of shows through the seasons. Worthy of a special trip to see an event and the town of Newberry is charming.
Beautiful historic building, but it is beginning to show signs of its age inside. The lobby has taken on a cluttered appearance in the past year. Every time I attend an event, it seems that more tables and displays have been added. Things that give information on the history of the building and details about performers are nice, but not when they add to congestion, make the lobby difficult to navigate, and dont match the aesthetic of the building. Most of the ushers are very friendly and eager to help, but I have been to multiple performances in the past year when they continued to seat latecomers well into the show and made no effort to do so in a quiet and discreet manner. It was disruptive and rude to both the performers and the audience members. At the most recent event I attended, one of the ushers sat in the back watching something on a mobile device for the entire second half of the performance. Overall, the Opera House is a beautiful facility that is a great asset to the community. There are many great performers that appear each season. However, the general operations seem to have become quite sloppy in various ways over the past 2-3 years. If this trend continues, I will think twice about attending events.
Beautiful place. Great tour and information from Ken! Looking forward to seeing a performance there.
The venue has been restored beautifully. The sound quality was fabulous. There are very few seats that might have an obstructed view. You can bring drinks to your seat as long as you have a covered cup, one that you can buy there. Overall a very pleasant evening. KebMo was so Good!
I love this venue. Great shows and concerts at affordable prices. EVERY seat is a good seat. Staff always friendly, helpful and attentive. Everything is spotless.
Great small venue! Got to see Jake Shimabukuro and loved its intimate setting!
Awesome venue. Great staff. Always a wonderful experience.
We saw the The Nutcracker ballet and the show was excellent but our seats had a severely obstructed view. We sat in balcony box E and could not see but half the stage. There should be a disclaimer with the purchase of balcony box D and E seat purchases to advise the consumer that the view of the stage is significantly obstructed.
Great venue for music. Staff very friendly and helpful. Look forward to more visits in 2020.
What a treasure this place is. Intimate and friendly staff. Great acoustics.
Had a great time at Opera House! Went to see SALIVA concert there. Saliva rocked that place!! I had Never been there before. It was a beautiful place and every one was very friendly. I definitely recommend this place to others. . :)
Newberry is a Charming little town and the opera house is a really cool historic venue. The staff for almost all home-grown people and they are so kind. Some great entertainment comes through here also!
We went on a tour and it was wonderful! Marylin was a terrific guide and the opera house is beautiful. I look forward to coming to a show in the near future.
One of the best venues to see a concert in the south. Small intimate location that has great acoustics for all shows that we have seen. Not a bad seat in the place.
Whether youre in town visiting or a permanent resident of Newberry, the Newberry Opera House is a go-to for great entertainment. Also offered are tours of the magnificent building with a rich history.
We saw the Dailey and Vincent Gospel hour here in March of 2018. Nice venue for a concert. The sound system is good and there’s no bad seats. Even the balcony has a very close view.
A great venue to see any show, very personal. The staff is very helpful and very nice to deal with. An excellent auditorium, theres not a bad seat in the house.
We had a convention there staff is nice, only one that works on the stage group was a little snobby. But if you are going to see a show or tour the Opera House know you will enjoy it.
Not a bad seat in the place. Great performances
Great show by Gene Watson. Opera House was spectacular as usual. Great artists are always booked here and people come from all over to enjoy the performances.
Wonderful show! Cozy beautiful old theatre.
Awesome venue. Like having a concert in your living room!!
Absolutely wonderful!
Great place for shows always someone help find seat
The ten tenors were wonderful. Great venue.
Lots of fun! I love the acts they bring here!
The Newberry Opera House is a state of the art performing arts center presenting the best the industry has to offer. With over 200 shows a year, the locals can treat themselves to world class performances all season long without ever leaving town. But the high-quality, high-caliber performances combined with the beautifully restored, 400-seat, intimate theater is not limited to locals by any means! Fans come from states away to see their favorite performer in the best venue in the lovely town that is Newberry, SC. Which shows have been my favorites? The Little River Band!, Richard Marx!, and Christopher Cross! and their New Years Eve galla is the best!
Enjoyed a great show, with friends. Reasonable location and affordable prices!
