Great shoe repair. However I think there closed due to Covid. I’ve come two days in a row. 10/27 @ 6:15p and today 10/28 @5pm. Closed both days. Business hrs are listed as 8-6:30 m-f
Overpriced. Charged me $25 to replace the battery of a cheap non-branded watch. The owner also started working on my watch before even telling me the price.
Fantastic job! I’ve been coming here for show shines, but recently my favorite leather chair ripped. I brought it in and he replaced the leather and sewed it back in perfectly. Great, quick service.
Came to get the band on my watch repaired, less than an hour after having the repair the same spot broke. When I returned the next day the have the watch fixed again the guy said there was nothing he could do. Would highly recommend any other watch repair place in the city if you would like the repair to last a full day.
Amazing service. Genuinely fair and credible appraisal on a bracelet I had recently purchased. I couldnt unlock the bracelet and thought there was an issue with the bracelet screw. Alex - the store owner - opened the bracelet up for me, explaining that there wasnt an issue with the screw, but with the way I was trying to open the latch. He didnt charge me whereas another store would have taken the bracelet, pretended to have fixed it and then charged me a ridiculously high rate. I will be bringing all my future business to Alex - shoes, jewelry etc.
I brought in my delicate vintage Omega Seamaster for some repairs. Alex took great care of it and got it back to me same day! I was blown away by the customer service, turn around and great prices.Highly recommended.
This is a classic shoe repair and watch repair store. It used to be upstairs at a storefront on Bleecker Street, but now it is down the steps at the corner of Bleecker and Broadway. Ive been going to Alex since 1993. It is well worth the walk downstairs!
Very efficient service and reasonably priced. I’ve had multiple watches repaired and tuned here over the years. Very nice husband and wife duo make a great team.
Professional, swift, and friendly service. Very well priced. I found this place through a colleague and will be going there from now on.
Ive taken my boots to be resoled many times over the years and have always had a great experience. The boots go in looking ruined and come out looking almost new. Best part is how quick they work, most times I can have them back the next morning or even the same day.
High quality, Quick service at reasonable price :DAlex fixed my watch and it is working perfectly now.He is very nice guy, warm. Enjoyed talking to him as well.Definitely recommend this place, and will definitely revisit for future serivces
Asked to replace the battery on my G-Shock watch.Pros: There was little wait and the turnaround was very quick (about 30min).Cons: The battery replacement cost $20. When I asked the repairman what he did to the watch, he said battery replacement only. Seeing that I was upset by the high price, he called me after I left to tell me that he also cleaned the watch and it works “perfectly” now.
Always such a pleasure bringing items into this shop! Alex, the proprietor, is friendly, knowledgeable and always very helpful! All of my items that I bring it come out looking better than new! A hidden gem (they moved to a downstairs location on Bleecker Street). Definitely bring your shoe/ sandal/ watch and small jewelry repairs here!
I dont even live in New York anymore and I still come back to get my boots repaired here. Years ago I had a pair of boots that another shoe repairman told me couldnt be saved -- brought them here, and they fixed them like new in only a couple hours. This year my favorite boots had become very worn down and I sent them to my mother specifically so she could bring them here because I didnt want to give them up. Very good work for a very reasonable price. - Mary from Connecticut
My son received a new watch just before we left for NY. It was suggested we try here to get it sized. Im so glad we did! It was like stepping back in time when we walked into the store. I had memories of going to places like this with my grandfather as a child. The service was the same as it use to be as well. We were greeted quickly and friendly. My sons watch was sized while we waited and for only $10! Its customer service like it use to be!
Great old-fashioned nyc watch and shoe repair. Polite, efficient, reasonably priced.
The place is dirty and the employees are unprofessional . The employee did not say a word to me when I asked if he could replace the battery in my watch. He must have been mute or disabled; he made no effort to communicate.I was frustrated when the employee had black shoe polish and grime on his hands while he handled my expensive watch. He could have exposed the delicate inside of the watch to grease that could make it malfunction. That’s unacceptable.
Star shoe made my shoes look as good as new at lightning speed. They were ready the next day, clean and immaculate! I am very impressed and will use them again whenever Im in New York.
I have to disagree with the other reviewers - I really like this place. They unfortunately moved downstairs, which may mean the death of their business, but I have to speak up because I have had nothing but excellent service here. Yes, it was not the cleanest of places when they were on street level, but they are working with some messy stuff.Since they are close to the Bleecker subway stop Ive had occasion to pop in for some minor repairs, which they always were able to do as I waited, always at a very reasonable price (1-3 dollars to sew or glue something back on, to punch an extra hole in something, etc.) I just brought in two pairs of shoes to be dyed and they did a wonderful job, and it was not expensive -The owner is very nice - unfortunately the other two guys are kind of grumpy, but I hope they stay in business because for me they are the best around.
Did an amazing job resoling an old pair of boots - new soles look better than the factory ones, and the job was completely seamless. This place is the real deal!
Ive been to Star a couple of times to repair my watches and they have been great! They work very fast and have great prices. Im definitely planning on going back to repair some of my heels. Good stuff!
I wont take my shoes anywhere else. I have a few expensive Italian heels that theyve made last forever. They are so nice, and they can have them finished fast if you need! So happy with this place.
For over 5 years in NYC, this was probably the best and affordable repair experience I have. Hope he will keep the business open forever!
This is the best little shoe and watch repair place in NYC. The work is always done so well and right on the spot. Plus, the guys is so friendly. Just love him! Could recommend it more!!
Changed my watch battery here. Old school place with very friendly stuff. Non expensive, fast and professional service)
Great little shop! I needed links taken out of my watch, and he did it in 10 minutes for only $10. Definitely a good neighborhood spot if you need watch services
Great service they do a Wonderful Job with Shoes and other materials related to Shoes or boots and belts😍😍😍😍😍💖💕💓💛💜💚💙👍👍👍👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The best shoe repair out there! Took my sons Geox shoes that were completely ruined made them look brand new! These guys are hands down the best!! Highly recommend quick, efficent, and reasonably priced!
Best shoe repair and watches too!! Been coming here for 6 years. Also the cheapest and best shoe shine in NYC. Love them.
Found them thanks to a Google search and decided to give them a try. I needed the band on my moto 360 smart watch to be replaced. Needless to say after some excellent but albeit nervous work (I dont think anyone has ever brought a smart watch to them before) the job was done, I couldnt be happier, and the price was completely fair. Highly recommended.
No issues. Got my battery replaced and it all went well
Great work, very efficient. Highly recommend.
I pass by this place all the time.. I have these brand new diesel boots and want to add new soles but after reading these reviews it helped me stay very far away. thanks everyone.
This place is awesome! In a basement level shop (actually directly below a fancy watch shop), nice crew of guys, including one with a vaguely steampunk watchmakers eyewear, feels like something out of a Terry Gilliam movie. Put a battery in a tricky watch super quick and for a good price.
NEVER TAKE YOUR SHOES HERE! I took my favorite boots here for 3 stitches to close up a hole. Im very careful about who I let repair my shoes but this was such a simple fix I didnt think anything of it. The owner used a machine to do a very small job and didnt bother lining up the leather, completely messing up the line of the boot. He put in 10 stitches that went over the original good stitching. I had to take it to another place to take out the horrible machine butchered job and it cost me $30! The stitch job should only cost $10. If you care about your shoes, never take them here.
The latino man that works there is a thief. He bait and switched me with a very simple watch repair. STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLACE!
This is my favorite shoe repair place in the city. Very convenient location and fast and reliable service.
Fair Prices, Quick Turnaround, Great work and really nice owner/workers. I bring my beatup shoes here all of the time and they bring them back to life!!!!
They weren’t open at 8:15 am despite the posted hours saying they open at 8 am. Very disappointed.
I walked in to get an idea of pricing, and left 2 minutes later with a fixed Aldo heel. Highly recommend!
The owner is kind, efficient, and friendly. My watch is fixed and prices are fair!
Great service and prices and fast service
Dont think owner knew what to do and charging $20 to replace battery
We take our boots here to be re-soled and re-heeled whenever I need it. They do a great, sturdy job that lasts a long time.
Excellent service and price
Ive gone here many times over the last several years. The gentlemen that work there are nice, quick, and always do a good job.
Needed a spring bar for my vintage Seiko. They had one.
I take my boots here to be re-soled and re-heeled whenever I need it. They do a great, sturdy job that lasts a long time.
Great local place with friendly and accommodating owner.
Just FYI it’s downstairs. Fast and professional service.
The guy charged me 65$ to repair some shoes. He did an amazing job but its definitely overprice.
I had the best expirience with them. They fixed something for me with a very complicated instruction i was very worried but when i got my boots back it was way over my expectations and their prices are very resonable.
Overpriced. $15 to add a battery to a basic watch. Entire job took 30 seconds.
Ive been going to this great establishment for over 10 years and never had a bad service. i knew this place was amazing when i took my dior homme boots i bought at a consignment shop to have it shined and to repair the worn heels.they went over my expectations. the right side of right pair, the leather was slightly stretched out by 3/8 and they stretched it back into place with out additional cost and with out me asking to repair it ( not even knowing they can stretch it back into place)!!the boots looks almost brand new, like i bought it at dior shop instead of a consignment shop.ive always gone to this place to re-sole my vintage red wings. after years of wear and tear, actual tears of leather was torn on each side of the boots. i took them in last monday and just picked them up. the holes were patched from the inside and not even noticible of a hole ever existed.i love this place and i dont understand the bad reviews, i hightly recommend this place and have. all of my friends now go to this place for their repairs for shoes and bags.ive never ever had a bad incident and they also have great shoe laces for my boots as well.alex, (owner or manager) told me they will be moving in next two months around the corner downstairs to a bigger space on broadway and bleecker.
These guys are real pros. They fixed two broken watches and a shoe zipper for me in 6 minutes. They know what theyre doing.
Yikes! Dont go here.. Shoddy work, hammering on a very nice watch which damaged it, and very expensive for terrible work!
A total scam! Do NOT come here. They charged me 25 dollars for a battery thats only 4 dollars. Avoid this place that also smells horrible.
They are very helpful and caring people!
Fixed my watch !! Ana big service
Place was locked and no return on calls.
Great shoes.
Very accommodating of my rushed suede shoe cleaning!
