As a volunteer teacher for three semesters in NYC, I have had the most rewarding experience of my teaching career delivering instruction to adult learners from around the world, but primarily from Guinea, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Gambia, Burundi, Togo, Liberia, Haiti, Tibet, Yemen, and Iraq. I witnessed learners landing jobs, reuniting with family members, and graduating from one level of English to another. The organization provides so much support to struggling refugees, asylees and immigrants, mostly from donors and volunteers. It is truly an amazing place.

I have to say, that place is everything else but office that helps people in need. I been there for 90 days and they could not find a job, or a English class for my wife, which they said that they are capable of doing so. The only person worth mentioning in this case as hard working man, is NIK, everyone else at that office are more or less a simple deceiver.

I work as a Consultant for an NGO in Kigali, reading some complaints about HR made me write. I just met a German guy the other day in Nairobi he was even saying the same that he applied for several positions with the IRC and no matter which Job he applied he was usually turned down within a day or two. A second oen I met, an Austrian confirmed the same. I was so curious about it that I compared his background with a job he just recently applied, and „surprisingly“ even though his background and experience would be a great match he was just turned down without any further comment. He told me that he even wrote the IRC asking about the reason, they never responded.Myself I find the HR at the IRC is very questionable. I sense some bias here based on nationality, seems liek those discrimatory AMericans are no good. Many other companies/organsiations same problem. Greetings Luigi.
