This was hands-down my best customer service experience while on a 4-day trip to New York.I came to this place because its included in a New York Pass (get it if youre visiting, btw), and used it to rent bikes to check out the bridge and the park across the river. The person who helped us, Smiley is a gem. Not only was she super-helpful, but cheerful and efficient as well. She has that straight-talk New Yorkers are known for, but kept it professional at all times. If shes not the owner or manager, I hope they know what a stellar employee they have. That said, the bikes were in good condition and were pleasant to ride. We didnt get upsold on the more expensive bikes although we were of course given the opportunity to see if they fit our needs better. The locks worked well and we had no problems whatsoever. In fact, this experience has encouraged me to get a bike back home in San Diego!Highly recommend.
Fantastic service! The girl who helped us (Smiley) was awesome!!! Got us setup with the bikes and gave us very helpful directions to explore Brooklyn. Appreciate people who live their jobs and excuse positive energy.
Smiley was very nice. Price was reasonable, especially for NYC.We had two ebikes. They were perfectly functional, but the brakes on one were a bit finicky and the other didn’t shift gears at all. The electric peddle assist more than made up for it.We had a mishap with one of our locks not working, but that was user error. Tip: test out EVERYTHING before riding away. Including locks. We had two different model locks that may have added to the confusion. A bit of idiocy on my part. All in all, a great experience. The bikes needed updating and I can’t knock them on my own error with the lock. Will visit again.
We chose Blazing Saddles because of reviews, multiple locations (in hopes we can return at the end of our route), and a 24 hour drop-off (or so we thought). We reserved and paid online before coming in that morning because there’s a small discount when doing so. After paying, we received a confirmation letter which states, and I quote:“Our Pier 17 location at the South Street Seaport (93 South Street) is located right at the start of the Brooklyn Bridge bike path! Our drop-off facility is open 24 hours at this location!”But sadly, we were informed this is not true when we picked up our bikes. We were told we had to drop the bike rental back at closing time which is 7p even though the rental is for 24 hours. Oh, there is a higher security deposit if you do choose to keep it for the full 24 hours. We were then later again disappointed to find out that in order to drop back off at a different location we’d be charged $5 per rental. Understandable, but it would’ve been nice if these things were disclosed on the website during reservation.Otherwise, our experience was fine. Bikes were sturdy and did their jobs. Drop off was quick. Staff were informative when giving instructions for the bikes which came with a saddle, bike lock, map, and zipped pouch in the front.
Smiley was absolutely amazing. She was informative and very pleasant to deal with. She was incredibly helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. Biking the Brooklyn Bridge and through downtown New York was an incredible experience Ill never forget. Im so glad we did this. Anyone looking to do this should check them out. Their bikes were well maintained and their customer service was on point. Thanks again!!
Lets start off by saying: I am not an everday cyclist, only leisurely and I felt safe biking the city streets even without a designated bike lane; drivers are very aware of cyclists.Biking is a great way to see the different boroughs and not have to cab, subway or walk everywhere. We had the bikes for 24 hours, split into two days...one to see Manhattan, Central Park and Harlem and one day to see Brooklyn & Williamsburg. Blazing Saddles is nicely situated by the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges; you can go over the Brooklyn bridge and return by the Williamsburg. The bicycles are in great condition and sturdy, includes a bike pouch, map and bike lock. The staff at Blazing Saddles were fantastic, very accomodating and informative.*There is no 24 hour drop off; you can drop off at a couple of different locations by 7pm and pick it up the next morning, unless your hotel will store it. The only critique would be that the bikes need a water bottle holder.
This sports store is massive and Ive never seen a store with this much selection in NYC. I was there to pick up my bib for The North Face Endurance Challenge (an ultramarathon race) the next day. I was instantly fascinated with the variety and the little things that make the visit more fun.
Smiley was super nice to us from the moment we walked in. Shes super friendly and she gave us bikes suited for our hight and our kids.... We got a really nice view of the city west streets and water, what a beautiful day .
Go see Smiley! Good value, easy to work with.
Bikes are in good condition, storage, lock, cargo tray, map. Friendly service highly recommend. Closes at 6pm.
Reserved bikes for a full day, prices were decent and location was easy to find. The bikes we used were in good working order. Locks and helmets were included. Upgrade to electric bike was fun and I recommend for a full day of riding!
My girlfriend and I booked electric bikes from Blazing Saddles to tour the Brooklyn Bridge. We HIGHLY recommend using electric bikes when touring the city as it made the ride effortless. We didnt have to worry about being sore, feeling tired, feeling sweaty, etc. I ended up proposing to my girlfriend at Brooklyn Bridge Park and we had incredibly memories made during our rental. We needed to return the bikes by 7 PM and the staff contacted us at 6:30 PM to check if we would be returning them by the time they closed and I confirmed and said we were on our way back. Along the way we got lost as we arent from New York and we ended up being 15-20 minutes past 7 PM and were rushing and stressing out about getting back on time. We thought we had missed the chance of returning the bikes but we tried anyways and they ended up still being open. The whole staff waited for us to return the bikes past closing and they were the first to celebrate our proposal with us with so much excitement. We were so appreciative of everyone working that day (June 28, 2019) who stayed open late just for us and were so happy for us and shared in our excitement and special moment. THANK YOU BLAZING SADDLES!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!
Fun times at fair price. We enjoyed the day biking around lower Manhattan, including Governor’s Island. My only caution is that the Brooklyn Bridge gets very congested with pedestrians on the weekend.
My family - wife and 2 kids - thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. They didn’t hesitate to exchange my son’s bike when he wasn’t satisfied with it and brought it back. Would highly recommend as one of the things to do when visiting Manhattan! Special mention to Smiley who attended to us at the store and was very courteous, pleasant and professional. I would definitely come back.
Used our New York passes to hire bikes from Blazing Saddles to ride up the Hudson Greenway from the Southern Sea Port to Pier 82 for the Intrepid Air and Space Museum. The friendly and efficient staff set up the bikes, gave us a detailed map and helpful advice. The ride was a flat and relaxing way to get a totally different perspective on New York City life and you didnt need to be super fit to enjoy it. We handed the bikes back at Pier 82 where more efficient staff checked them in. This was a great way to see the river with all the boats and ferries and a pleasant contrast to all the walking wed done in the city. We would thoroughly recommend Blazing Saddles to anyone.
Friendly staff. Good prices. Just don’t leave your bikes locked up anywhere. Thieves have found a way to bend their bike locks. My rental was stolen in broad daylight. That blazing saddles pouch in the front is a dead giveaway for thieves. Wish they would get rid of them. Heard from others they had the same thing happen. Cost me $400 to replace the bike. Not fun.
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and a great location to rent bikes from and enjoy a beautiful waterfront ride around Manhattan.
Good quality bikes. Smily is full of energy and information, she will give you all the tips you need.
Rented a tandem for my husbands very first bicycle built for two experience. Picked up at South Street Seaport and dropped off Near 42nd street on the bike path, West side. Fun in the Sun!
Very good service & nice staff
Very helpful and nice. Good to find and staff is really trying to give a perfect experience!
Nice trip by bike around the Central Park 👍😉😃🚴♂️🚴♀️
Great service, good directions, bikes well-maintained. They give you maps, bike lock and handlebar carry-all. Reserve online for 20% off. You can also dropoff the bike at their west side location for a small fee.
Although we rented bike for first time ever the staff was really nice and willing to answer all our questions patiently.
I went to this shop and experienced racism. I walked in on my phone and within seconds one of the employees pushed me out of the store. She didn’t say hi how may may I assist you. DON’T SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS.
Great bike rental, good quality bikes, elaborate map with bike routes, good explanation of how to bike and what route to take
Knowledgeable staff, providing excellent and customer-oriented service, great bikes.
Super good bikes!
Okay.
Without waste. Touring NY by bike ... the best experience. Served by Smiley, a genius.
Prejudiced or arrogant treatment? We arrived in family (5 people) to rent the bikes. We were promptly attended by a nice guy and, as it was very hot, we asked to enter the shop. While we received the explanations came another 03 people who were attended by a girl who, in order not to suffer in the sun, told the young man to do our care outside.
Great bikes, enthusiastic rental team, good tips, free route map. Wonderful 3 days cycled through NYC Manhattan and Brooklyn
Friendly and helpful staff, the bikes are technically ok but could be replaced. There is still a discount when booking online in advance.
Bad service. Hired with the New York Pass and we did not take them because everything was obstacles, it was 2 hours and the store man told us 30 min and took us € 100 from each bike and it is impossible to come and go at that time the bridge
They are correct bikes, but the price shoots up if you compare it with municipal citybike. 12 $ 24 hours, compared to 15 for 1 hour. The quality of the bikes is very correct.
A very pleasant walk. Thanks to Rocio for the explanation of the route.
Pleasant welcome, smiling people, comfortable bikes and map provided with pretty walking routes
Friendly staff and service🔝
Excellent they have good bikes
