Came for brunch with a party of 5 on Sunday noontime. We were seated on the second floor, which was thankfully quiet. Food was fantastic. Ive been here for lunch before, and am happy to report that I may like the brunch menu even more. I will say the iced coffee I ordered was underwhelming—very watery, even for an americano—and very pricey, at $6. I could have made better at home. Otherwise, it was a lovely meal, with above and beyond service from our server, Rachel. Be aware that a party of 5+ is considered a large party, meaning an automatic 20% gratuity, but this was not a problem for me.
Visited Soccarat Midtown location on a hot summer evening for their Happy Hour special deal. We did not have reservations but were promptly seated by the staff at a table inside which was air conditioned. They also have outdoor seating which is cute. We ordered about 13 items from their Tapas menu and each dish was delicious and we went for seconds. Red wine sangria and lemonade went well with the food. Some of our favorites were Octopus, bacon wrapped dates, shrimp gambas, squid, scallops and jamon, chorizo and croquettes. Service was excellent and prompt. Will be back for more!
Lets see..Went with family on Aug 6, 2021. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very good, clean and good customer service. We order some Tapas and were good, nice wine selection..BUT...I felt I was tricked with the Fideua, we were so excited when we saw it in the menu that they had it, but when it arrived to our table our question marks were activated..This is not Fideua.. we noticed that they didnt use the right pasta for Fideua, instead they used regular pasta, it was very thick and not well prepare, very messy, also, nor well cooked. The Fideua must to have this chewy texture and the pasta should be thinner, but of course, it wasnt because we think they used regular spaghetti ...I believe we were tricked !!...
Big fan of this spot - its close to my office and is consistent in quality with the rest of the chain. Their bacon-wrapped dates are my favorite thing on the menu, but the paella is of course great too! Decent wine selection and love their sangria. I recommend red over the rose, personally. The last time I visited our waitress was so kind and charming - their staff in general is professional and nice.
Came here for their Thanksgiving dinner with some friends. We were looking for somewhat traditional food with a twist and that’s just what we got. It was Thanksgiving Spanish-style. A turkey paella - that’s all you need to know. The menu was nicely curated and we felt like we had a proper dinner - turkey and the traditional fix-ins in one way or another. It seemed amazing on paper, but in terms of execution - we felt like there was something missing. The food in the end was just good, not great. We honestly couldn’t put our finger on it, but these were our honest feelings. The best thing I had and that I’m still thinking about and would come back for is the Café Bombón - a shot of espresso with condensed milk. It was amazing! Overall, we’re glad we tried it, but maybe we’ll stick to a completely traditional dinner next year and we’d love to come back for their regular dinner.
Since Mother’s Day I’ve been here a few more times and each time I leave so satisfied! The Gambas, albondigas, carne paella and deserts are always exquisite ☺️☺️☺️ I came today and the server Patricia was extremely pleasant/funny, she made our dinner so much more enjoyable. Lolo is very attentive, come eat here you will not be disappointed!
Restaurant week is upon us and I knew I had to finally order from here! The special included your choice of paella and mushroom croquettes. The croquettes were to DIE for. The rich, creamy earthy filling and the crispy outside was the perfect bite. Heavenly. The seafood paella fell short for me though. Good, but definitely not great, and not something I would order again I think.
Delicious foods makes you feel at Spain during your stay in New York.Employees are friendly and makes you comfortable.Especially this restaurant has a very clean restroom which has a Dyson hand dryer. They only have only few outdoor tables. Lunch set including an appetizer and a main dish is 25 dollars.
I don’t want to be the Spaniard food vigilante but some things have to be said. We ordered croquetas, “jamón ibérico 5Js” and seafood paella. Good things first, the croquetas were very good. The paella not so much. Although I appreciated the “socarrat” honoring the name of the restaurant it felt more like rice with stuff on top. The seafood wasn’t particularly good neither was the rice. I get it, it is a complicated dish, but you are a Spanish Paella restaurant. And last and most important, you CANNOT LIE in the menu offering “Jamón Ibérico 5J” and then serve Jamón Serrano. That is not an honest mistake. Especially because you also offer Jamón Serrano at a cheaper price. That is not acceptable.
Loved it. Good paella and Spanish food in Midtown. Great service they gave us some Cava at the end on the house
Saturday brunch is very tasty. The restaurant is very well ventilated and all the staff are masked. Highly recommended!
Very cozy and warm. Love the ambiance and the feel. They decorated it for Valentine’s Day, which was cute. They have a minimum of two servings for ordering paellas, so we didn’t get any, but the tapas we ordered were very good. The service was warm and they were very attentive. The flavor combinations complimented each other very well. Overall a great one time experience.
Food is good, if a bit overpriced for what it is. For example, my appetite was not satisfied by the $19 entree, so I ordered some toast to sop up my egg yolk and they charged $4 for a small piece of toast with a slab of butter. Felt a bit nickle and dimey. So it was okay, but I wouldnt go out of my way to return.
Big fan of Socarrat Paella Bar. Their bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with Valdeón cheese & almonds in a roasted apple purée were AMAZING. I was just SO impressed with all of the tapas. It really says something positive about a restaurant when the appetizers are just as delicious and well thought out as the main dishes! Can’t say I didn’t love the seafood paella as well, but I’d be tempted to go back just to try out more of their tapas 😋
The tapas are consistently good, with occasional greatness...paellas always top shelf along with their drinks! recommend the black seafood paella and the flagship Soccarat paella. Dont forget the pulpo (octopus) appetizer.
Always my go-to spot when I have friends visiting New York. Love the paella here! Especially the one with squid ink. It’s probably one of the best ones I find in the city. However note that the paella takes an hour to be ready so make sure you budget enough time (for lunch or dinner) when you visit. Last time we were in a rush so I got their grilled cod fish and it was great!
Must try paella and every tapas, love it! and highly recommend Torrija Caramelizada for dessert.
Duck Paella was okay, not great as the waiter recommended and definitely not worth the price. Duck pieces were mostly fat! Rice was stuck to pan, very hard to serve. Also portion is very small for two, so if you have an appetite you will be hungry within 2hours. Expected more for a dinner over $100. The chicken stewers are delicious, but not worth the price for just two.
Worst experience of my life. Do not waste your time going to this restaurant. I am not sure how you can enjoy tasteless food. We had ordered the Valentines Special menu, the Lobster Seafood Paella had no flavor, the lobster tasted as though it was boiled and frozen, the scallops had no seasoning. That too at the end of the night I had asked the server to kindly pack my food to go which was not returned to me as is a standard practice. I paid my bill and left a 20% tip on top of everything that was wrong with the night for me. I got up from the small table I was sitting at with my Wife to walk in and asked for my food that was to be packed to take home. I had requested the hostess to confirm that the bag I had was my food, she said yes it was. Today February 15 2021 I opened up the container and the food inside was definitely not mine. It had a sausage paella of some sort with half a Shrimp head and a whole Shrimp. Today when I called the restaurant, the manager Name Paolo (so he says) first refused stating he did not need to give me his name. Then he started accusing me that I left the restaurant and returned half a hour later. Non of this was true. Finally didnt even bother apologizing, then asked what would you like me to do? I openly stated you tell me what you think you should do. Finally Paolo(Manager) said the paella is a minimum of two people what do you want to do? I told him I had half a Paella left with a Lobster and Claw so make me what is missing. His Attitude has definitely made me write this review more so now. Do not waste your time going here, even during Covid times you think people would be more appreciative to the business instead of the attitude. I am not a frugal person and could care less about the leftovers, it is now more of how the manager handled himself on the phone. Very annoyed.
Squid ink paella was so disappointing. Seafood was over cooked, hard, and bland.
One of the best happy hours in the city if u dont drink liquor. Great food and sangria and prices for those but worst over priced regular drinks. $20 for Titos and soda??? It is $30for a bottle! There is no reason each slightly over well drink should be $20+tax for soda water. A fancy restaurant charges $15 tops. It is not ok. Careful. Greg Goose may be $35 per glass.
Very tasty food! They had a small first floor but their second floor was massive! The artichoke hearts were a bit bland, but it was tasty nonetheless. The bread is complimentary and is nice and warm. Their paellas are amazing! Although you have to order at least two paellas, it can be finished by people. The restuarants atmosphere is warm and cozy, however, its a little cramped. The pictures below are the artichoke hearts, potatoes, bread, and shrimp. A dish you must try is the squid dish, as has great spices and is well-cooked. The service is great and acted very nicely even though we changed our tables 2 times! Great restuarant with okay pricing!
Delicious food, and I appreciated that they had the vegan items marked on the menu!
Excellent cocktails and Sangria, and classically delicious paella. Very tasty.
Delicious tapas in a great, rustic space. I recommend the gambas, patatas bravas (of course) and the bruselas.
Really great paella 🥘 the upstairs balcony is pretty cozy :)
Amazing brunch. 10/10 would go again!
The space inside is limited, the tables small and too close to each other but nevertheless the place looked clean and gives your a warm family sensation. The menu was quite simple, not bloated and the description clear. I’ve been before in Spain so I wanted to try the Spanish style food in Manhattan. The three tapas I ordered came fast to the table, and I must say they were delicious and cooked well, especially the octopus one and the small green peppers (which I ended up ordering twice). Finally we had to wait long time for the Paella (maybe 50 minutes), for which they warned us before hand. The wait was with worth it because the paella was as really well cooked and authentic. Overall I enjoyed the food here and I’d return to eat again. If you like to try Spanish tapas and food this is the spot you should go to.
Made a meal of tapas with my wife. Ordered six dishes expecting to leave hungry. Wouldve been good with five and left stuffed. Meatballs were the best. Brussels sprouts were also good.
Warm outdoor dining experience with very nice wait staff. We had a basically private booth to ourself and it felt very covid safe. Although the paella was on a pricer side it was very big and filling!
Great tapas, good paella, and good service.
Great food and great service
This place was beautiful and the food was great. They had dividers up between tables and it felt very safe. We had a pitcher of white sangria which was delicious and relatively strong. We also had the brussel sprouts, chorizo croquettes, and fish paella. Would 100% go back again.
One of the best dining experiences. Great sense of safety, incredible food and service.
ProTip: Ask to be seated on the second floor. A much better ambiance
We ordered the Thanksgiving prix fixe for 3 people. The table next to us order the same but for 2 people. They got as much food as we did, but we paid for 3 menu... obviously...They f... us!
Friendly enough staff, not going to be harsh on that front since were in the middle of a pandemic but by pre pandemic standards definitely sub par service. The paella is pretty tasty, nothing to write home about though. Unfortunately we had a very disappointing octopus dish. It came out barely warm and quite overcooked. It just wasnt very good. Overall the experience just wasnt good or bad just sort of meh.
5 stars if we were not seated right next to the door. Our paella was cold in 15 minutes cold seafood is not great unless it is sushi.
We had the Thanksgiving menu, which was very tasty and generous in terms of portions. Overall would definitely recommend for Spanish cuisine.
I was craving an authentic paella. Ordered Socarrat paella and few tapas. ( datiles) delicious. Sadly the rice of paella was bland and I had to give it cpr with a few spices I had from Despaña store from city.I have been to spain many times and I think a paella is a signature dish which should shine in a Spaniard restaurant.Im still glad I ordered from them to support them at this difficult time the restaurant business needs our support.viva USA and ESPAÑA.
Nice outdoor seating! Luis was a fine server. Kelly made sure that anything that was not perfect was remedied. She could not have been nicer to Chris and me. My fourth trip here and certainly not my last!
The food was good 5 stars! Great flavors and good amounts. The staff was amazing and nice.
We were with my husband walking along 2nd Av .and luckily found the restaurant! We were struck by the fact that its display on the street was warm and well protected; We read the menu and decided to give it a try, we will never regret it. I am a gourmand, very fond of cooking and good food, so I do not always find something fully satisfactory. The attention of Juan the bartender was spectacular, he illustrated the dishes very well and offered us the house wines ensuring their high quality and thats how it was !! A tempranillo from La Rioja and a Galician albariño, delicious. We ordered garlic prawns, mussels, lentil soup and the star of the house, the socarrat paella, which was extraordinary !! Thank you, we will repeat without a doubt on our next visit to NYC !!
Very accommodating and friendly. Great food. Cheese plate and artichokes were awesome. Hope the hostess is MVP
The food is amazing, and the staff is sweet... what more could I ask for? Definitely the seafood paella you can’t beat. Fried Artichokes, Octopus... My stomach is ready to pop.
We enjoy to go out. Last night we came to this magnificent place which we didn’t know before. We enjoyed a lovely time there with superb cooking and a well-trained stuff and a talented chef. We put this venue in our phone list and we shall definitely go again soon. Highly recommended.
Great brunch.
The food was good, but we were ignored by our waitress and food took 45 mins to arrive. There was no bread, nachos or other bits offered. The table sat empty the whole time. Probably wont be back.
I had a great time with my family in this place. Tapas were so good, paella was nice but to me, was a bit dry, I personally prefer it a little moister. Service was great, very friendly and helpful. A plus, happy hour at the bar, tapas half price and 3 different kinds of sangria, that was nice!
Great paella and top notch mohitos
Really kind staff which makes a huge difference in your dining experience! Personally I prefer the tapas over the paella. You can also share and they are very flavorful. Drinks also good. A great place to go after a tough day!
Good paella
Nice paella, tasty and huevos a la flamenca were also good. Desert was delicious, torrija camelizada. The outdoor seating worked well, we had a table next to the restaurant.
My friend and I were craving something different than our normal Irish Pub/Burger type of dinner, so I chose Socarrat. I was craving a good Paella. The place is small, but cozy, and the servers, hosts, and bartenders are all very friendly. We went with a couple of Tapas dishes to start, which were excellent. And the Seafood Paella. The Paella was good, but it did not knock my socks off, as I hoped it would. Dont get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with it, but maybe my hopes were too high, as I was really wanting more flavor in the rice. Nevertheless I did enjoy the meal, the waiter was excellent and helpful, and I will not hesitate to go here again.
Surprisingly good paella... great happy hour and chill spot. Its small and gets crowded so be prepared. But its a fun little spot. Grab a drink and have a good time!
We had such an awesome time here. Amazing food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. We LOVED the seafood paella. We also had a brunch of different tapas - all delicious. And the red and white sangria were amazing, especially the white! I’d highly recommend this restaurant!
Absolutely Amazing.. The food was spectacular, the atmosphere was beautiful, the service was Amazing, Juan was very helpful with his suggestions... My sister and I went on a whim and it was the best decision we made.. Totally love this place and we are looking forward to going back again... First time having tapas and we fell in love.... A place where you can actually have a conversation, Good food and enjoy your company....💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Service was good. The tapas-especially the ones with shrimp - were delicious. Also the host, Catherine, was amazing!! So friendly and nice. She is lovely.
Great balcony outdoor seating and service and food were excellent t
They serve an excellent seafood paella, and the service is top notch.
Great place for small groups. Paella is so delicious! We also love their octopus.
The food was fantastic. Very affordable. The Sangrias are out of this world. And the customer service was fabulous. A perfect place for couples and groups to go to.
