The staff at Studio 523 are exceptional! They are very professional and attentive to your needs. The atmosphere is very welcoming and diverse. Ron (my personal barber) provides one of the best hair cuts ever! He is well-rounded in the barber trade as well as the other barbers and cosmetologists there. I commend Ms. Muriel Lewis, owner, and her entire staff for providing a service needed in this particular area of New Orleans. Job well done!!

This was the worst haircut I have ever received. First I waited an hour and a half with two stylist working and two people in front of me. I asked for a number 2 with a fade up to where my hair is long and the first stylist said she couldnt do a fade and I should wait for the other. So I waited another 20 mins for her to finish. I sit down it the chair and she has to grab a clipper from another station. She then starts in the middle of where I wanted the fade and starts poking with the clipper with the grain and making a line. I figured she just had a different style than Im used to but after about 5 mins of this I asked if she had a guard on it, she said no. I asked her to put one on and she went back to the other station to grab them.She then started doing the same thing with the guard on. Not really cutting anything. I finally tell her how shes supposed to use the clippers and she starts doing it right but she still creates a line instead of trying to fade it. She then tells me she wants to grab a number 1 guard to blend it. With the number 1 on she creates 3 lines on the right side of my head. I realize she has no idea how to do a fade so I ask her just to make the lower part of my head thats shaved a number 2. She runs the clippers over my head a few times and really didnt fix the the spots she originally messed up when using the clippers with no guard. At this point she asked me if I want to keep going and I say no. I stand up and look in the mirror and see just how bad it really is. She asked me to tell her honestly how bad it was. At this point I just want to leave and see no point in hurting this girls feelings so I just say its ok I can fix it and leave.I then go back to my hotel and have my brother do what he can to fix it. Its better but still really messed up. I now have to wake up early tomorrow and go get my hair fixed before I go to work.Ive never had my hair messed up this bad in my entire life. I dont understand how they can operate a barber shop and not know how to use clippers.I should have read more reviews and not just the star number. Do not go to this place, you will regret it!

Went in on my birthday to get my first ever hot straight razor shave. Ashley took care of it and made it one of the most awesome experiences ever. It was gentle methodical and surreal at the same time… I wish I could give a 10 star rating

Working on the cruise ship and having limited time, Studio 523 was able to get me in with very short notice! I always try new styles and Ron was very understanding of what I was looking for with my newest style. He made sure I was happy with all steps of the process. Ron and Jay made it very easy to just come in, relax and have a good conversation. The atmosphere of this place is very relaxed! If youre looking for a good haircut with some chill guys come this way!

Great Barber shop and salon. Amazing location. Muriel is always welcoming to all customers, regulars and walk-ins. Very professional atmosphere but still family oriented. Any services you need you are sure to get a great service at Studio 523!

Walked right in and was able to make an appointment after breakfast. Great service in a cozy environment. Got a fresh looking fade and face shave for WAY less than I thought it would cost! If I wasnt traveling back to Australia tomorrow I would make this my local barber for sure!

I still can get over that they shave my eyebrows. I asked them bring down my beard, edge me and clean my eyebrows. They completely shave my beard. I did not notice until I made it to the hotel. Fellas, do not go here!

From out of town, in New Orleans for 311 Day. Just wanted a quick buzz, and most places were too pricey or required an appointment. These guys got me in, out, and on my way with a fresh cut at a good price. Very thorough and a great staff. Highly recommended!!

Awesome awesome awesome. Im from NYC and I go to the Red Door Spa usually and coming here was so different and I enjoyed every minute. Two people worked on my hair I cant remember theyre names but the gave me the best fade with the cutest part I ever got. Whenever I come to NOLA I will be stopping in.

My friend and I were in town visiting so decided to check out Studio 523 and it was sooo nice! The staff were very friendly and gave us great information and history about the city plus they did a really good cut for my friend. I would definitely recommend this place and visit again.

Jay was great, great haircut for a great price, and they do a razor fade as well. Very enjoyable experience for an out of towner, and they are open Sundays when every other shop was closed. Would most definitely return.

Really bad haircut. Too busy with hot towels and blades round the back of my neck... Basically forgot about the top - left it completely different lengths. Nice guy though and friendly, but not a good cut.

After I got my beard lined up I notice that it was really crooked and wasnt done well. A bit pricy as well. The only good thing is theyre open on Sundays, thats all.

I would give zero stars if that was an option. Jazz is the rudest stylist I have ever met. I get my hair done weekly and know what i need. She was unwilling to take any directions, got angry and shouted at me and in the end charged me $65 for a blow out. That is more than what I pay in high end salon I go to in New York. If you want to be attacked and robbed, this is the place to go.
