Great People, Season, cand Grateful! Garrett and Square body came out at 6pm Sunday night. All the games on and came out to tow us in! Back on the lake. Thank you!π
I just wanted everyone to know Jay at Gerardβs Marina is the best. We are so happy with our Sunspree Pontoon boat we purchased from them. Itβs always a pleasure working with them.Although we purchased from them in the past, this time we ran into some unforeseen medical problems at the last minute and had to do the entire transaction without ever seeing anything except a video of the boat until the boat arrived in MA. Everything was just as promised. We definitely will call them for our next boat.
5 stars doesnβt seem enough to describe the amazing experience that I have had with Gerardβs Marina and interacting with Jay. He has been more then patient with me and so accommodating in every sense. I have had countless emails and phone calls with him and he has gone out of his way to assist me in my boat rentals. Most people would have given up, but Jay and the staff at Gerardβs have demonstrated perfect customer service. Jay even drove the boat to my dock and went out of his way to assist my husband in teaching him all about the boat. Jay also accommodated my husband by going out on a practice run with him to ease his fears. While we are only renting now, we will be sure to be purchasing our first boat from Gerardβs Marina. Thank you Gerardβs Marina!!
Well itβs 5:30am and Iβm enjoying my first cup of coffee of the day β¦ on my new Crest Pontoon on Candlewood Lake. Great way to start the day! Back in March when I began my quest to purchase a boat my hopes of this happening this year quickly began to fade. Boats in general were hard to find and new pontoon boats seemed impossible thanks to Covid shutting down the world. Thatβs is until my good fortune lead me to Jay at Gerardβs Waters Edge Marina in New Milford. Jay told me he had none in stock but still have a few to be built and expected delivery by July. He invited me to come look at some sold pontoons he had, answered my many questions and in general educated me about this new boating world I was about to enter. We ran some numbers and after a generous discount we wrote up an order for this new Crest 22ft pontoon I find myself now floating on. The entire purchase experience was a pleasure. The boat arrived as scheduled, they registered it and hooked me up with certain boat accessories and supplies I needed, and here I am now watching the sunrise on Candlewood Lake. Life is good! Thank you Jay and thank you Gerardβs! Would I recommend them to anyone considering a new boat purchase β¦ you bet! Highly!
Not a very courteous group of folks. If thats important to you, its probably best to steer clear. We had engine trouble a few hundred feet from the end of Gerards dock. We paddled in to see if they could do anything for us. This seemed reasonable, given that a Marina is typically a place where boats are repaired. When I entered the main office, the woman working at the desk had clearly seen us pull up, and was complaining *loudly* to another customer about how people like us were a nuesance. Need I say more?
Do not store your boat her!. We paid to have our boat stored in October and were told wed be able to pick up our boat in April. April came and went- they said our boat was not available yet. May came and went- Memorial Day came and went- and still they tell us the boat is not available. The customer service woman hung up on me when I told her I wanted my boat back. We are now paying for a slip at the dock- and a boat that we cannot use. Do not store your boat here if youd like it back.
First day on water - of first boat (purchased through Gerards) - got stuck in a hail storm. Gerards staff helped us quickly dock and get her covered with large/cold hail pelting us- on a day they werent even supposed to be working. Cant wait for a fun summer season and to be a part of the Gerard family!
We have purchased multiple boats from Gerards and have been very pleased with their sales and service. Along with servicing our boat, they are also able to service our jet skis. We have been super happy and would highly recommend them! Everyone is always incredibly friendly and helpful!
Very convenient, clean and safe place to get on and off your boat.
I made an appointment with Jay to see and buy Four Winns boat. When I came there Jay was coughing and met us without a mask. I asked him to wear a mask and he just refused saying that wearing a mask is against people freedom. I turned around and left their business. Im sure I cant trust such people in any case.Same week I bought a boat from another brand. Im not sure if I cab trust Four Winns if they let work such people to represent their brand.
We just purchased our first boat from Gerards. Jay was excellent to work with and we could not be happier with our new boat. Thank you!
I have my boat docked at Gerards for many years now and Ive made many friends during this time. Family oriented and one of the best places at Candlewood lake.
Love our new sea ray
Being Danbury based, I first tried looking for a used pontoon boat at the various Brookfield based marinas. I wasnt very impressed, so I decided to go to Gerards and see what was available. Needless to say, they not only had a very good used boat selection, they also offered me an excellent deal on a new pontoon boat that was customized for my specific needs (large family, young children). GWEM is highly recommended.
I am very happy with everyone at Gerards Marina. Garrett is super friendly, all staff so friendly and accommodating. This is our first year using the Marina we bought our boat from them at the end of the season last . So far so good Iβm not sure why so many negative comments but it seems to all be from renters. As far as regulars we all seem very pleased . Do t like NEGATIVITY SO PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE. We are here TO ENJOY OURSELVES DO NOT LIKE HATERS!!!
Rude employees. Stay away
We just bought a new boat from the marina and rented a slip for the summer. Both Garrett and Jay were terrific to deal with. Honest and straightforward negotiations, friendly open communication on progress, and a nice feel that we are joining a family run organization that will treat us with care. Taylor is also very sweet and helpful and has treated us like we matter. We are still early in what I expect to be a long relationship with this marina, but everything we have seen so far continues to make me happy we choose Gerardβs.
My wife and I had a great experience buying our beautiful new misty harbor pontoon boat from Jay at Gerards marina! Everything was seamless, got a great deal on the boat with trailer and even a dock slip for the season. If you are looking for great service and a staff that really cares definitely give the crew a call. Happy to be part of the Gerards Marina family!!!-The Skellyβs
Bought a used Stratos from them. Jay and Garret took good care of me. They were professional, easy to deal with and sold me a good used boat. Even dealing with Covid and registration issues they continued to communicate well with me and extended my temp. Registration so I wouldnt be stuck with a new boat I couldnt use. Very much appreciated. I look forward to continuing to do business with them!6-11 update - These guys continue to be great. I will be doing more business with them as a result of their great customer service. Jay thank you. You have been great. Highly recommend these guys.
Jay, the sales manager at Gerards is by far the best salesperson I have dealt with in the marina industry.Hes smart, fair, and well informed. Most marina salespeople never even bother to return a customers call, and when they do its as if they are doing you a favor.Jay quickly returns all phone calls and e mails and is attentive and respectful of his customers.I would highly recommend buying or selling a boat with Jay.The marina itself is in a beautiful spot on Candlewood Lake and the employees are friendly and helpful.I have dealt with marinas for decades,Gerards is the best.
Went in to buy a tube for the lake, they were very helpful and patient with all of my questions. Got a pump, rope, the whole bit. They even helped me carry everything out to the boat! Good people!!
When my wife Linda returned home one evening, she casually announced at dinner that she buying a boat and that she would like to go to Gerads marina on candlewood lake in Ct. since she heard from some of her close friends that this was the a great marina to have a slip. Her love for boating started, Since when I previously owned a boat, when we first met some 23 years ago in N.Y. Well, after 23 years of wanting to be back on the water, I reluctantly agreed to the visit. We were met by three lovely young ladies with smiles that directed us to their sales rep. Jay who took us on a tour of the boats for sale and explained in detail about each of the boats we viewed. we picked one we liked, and left a deposit. Jay was extremely helpful and gave a discount, agreed to, since we were two months into the season, and repairs, needed at NO extra charge. Upon arrival a few days later to secure the final arrangements, Jay informed us that he would NOT be selling us the boat we put a deposit on and that when they went over the prep. they found a problem that eventually over time would give us a major problem. WELL, you dont get this honesty and professionalism in a used car lot let alone in any marina. I was blown away to say the least ! Jay showed us other boats for sale, and we found the one she wanted. I requested a slip close to shore having knee problems and Garret, the owner accommodated. from Dave at the gas dock that also polices the slips, helpful with arrivals and knowledge in knots to Cobby assisting with the parking, We found, what we feel, is a top shelf class act run marina !
I recently rented a pontoon boat from Gerardβs marina for a family vacation during the July 4th weekend. Honestly, couldnβt have made a wiser choice. Very reasonable rental price, brand new pontoon boat and went with the premium package. Couldnβt have had a better day on the lake. They have such a friendly staff there, and everything youβll need for a fun time on the lake. Iβll definitely be back!
Iβve always had a good experience over at the marina where the dock hands are helpful and the staff inside is pleasant, friendly, and accommodating. Taylor is especially a good person to ask for help as well as Mark on the docks. This marina is close to the dam so if youβre looking to go fishing consider this marina as a place to rent a slip for the season.
Stopped in to inquire about services and rentals, and while those are currently limited, the staff was extremely helpful.
Have used this marina for 3 years now. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and patient. Have no complaints. The staff they hire in the summer are positive, help seniors with their boats and do so with a great attitude. The full service marina is also a nice feature if anything goes wrong. Krista, Gerard and staff are excellent. Very happy to have our boat there.
Its the best place to be after a long day of work
Not sure why there is so mach hate on here. These guys are great. Boats are reasonable (if you are renting a speedboat on the weekend.....in the summer....its the busy season people) and no one has been rude to me I have been doing this for years. Highly recommended
Are you kidding me. Pull your boat up to the dock, have lunch and a drink(Or two) and hit the lake again. This is summer to the max.
We rented a pontoon boat for a family of 4 for a full day and had a terrific time. We did a walk-through before-hand and took pictures of slight damages to the boat, and the staff were very pleasant and quick to point out any slight damages to the boat and prop. They also pointed out great spots to anchor and swim on a map they provided to us of Candlewood Lake. They also pointed out places to not bring the boat as the debris in those areas could cause damage. Afterwards we had a terrific day following their recommendations - really a great way to spend a family (screen-free) vacation day! It was Memorial day weekend and despite that was easy to navigate the waters without too much traffic. When we returned the boat, the staff were very friendly and the check-out process went quickly and smoothly. The price was reasonable and overall the experience was great. This was my first time renting a boat and I am very glad it was such a good experience.
Weve rented a pontoon boat from this company for the last several years. Some very rude and not pleasant people that work their. They treat you like garbage. Every year when we returned the boat they would try to find a reason to charge us extra. Ie-seats had juice spilled on them, returned 15 minutes late, used too much gas, etc. every year it was something else. And they try to charge you anywhere from $50-$500 extra depending on the reason they come up with. Since they have your credit card, they tell you what they are going to charge and its not an option. We only went back since they have a large selection and good availability. I guess the availability is due to no return customers. Proceed with caution.
GREAT TIME AT THIS PLACE. i only wish i discovered this place sooner. if you have a family or a few friends and you want to rent a boat for the day, this is such a good place to go to. i read some of the other reviews on here and i noticed people commenting on the staff being rude. i dont think the staff is rude here, i think they really urge you to be cautious because not everyone who drives a boat has boating experience(it was my first time) and so there are some things you NEED to be aware of or else you could mess something up on the boat. i would never call them rude though, i even forgot my license inside and the woman behind the desk literally came running out to my car as i was pulling away to hand it to me. a lazy person couldve easily just called me, but she came out running to my car. if you dont consider that good customer service, then i dont know what good customer service is. i highly recommend this place, and Im definitely going there again, worth every penny.
I have only had four experiences with Gerards Marina. Each time I was unusually impressed with the professionalism, courtesy, and clear communication that was offered in an easy and friendly manner. I have been on the water all of my life, and Gerard and his group are the kind of people that you hope to meet along the way.I am not a relative, employee, hope to get a discount, none of that. They have no idea that I am writing this. If you are a nice person, you will get along just fine with Gerard
Rented a pontoon boat for the day to take my daughter and a friend out on the lake. The marine sits on the northeast fork of the lake, far away from the heavy traffic of the south lake. Due to an initial misunderstanding a ski boat was reserved for me, but that was immediately rectified upon arrival and I was assigned a brand new pontoon. The staff at Waters Edge Marina was incredibly friendly. Ask for Dawn, and tell her the Cheese puff loving German referred you and I promise you that you will be in good hands.Loved the experience and would recommend to anyone.
DISRESPECTFUL AND DIFFICULT STAFF AND THEY MAKE MONEY BY OVERCHARGING YOU. Ive been renting boats from Gerards for the past 4 summers and at the end of every experience I find myself disappointed with the staff. Without fail, every time we return the boat at the end of the day, they tack on several hundred dollars of extra charges for damages. Its gotten to the point where we most recently took about 20 pictures of the boat before we departed, so that we would be able to prove to them that their tack on charges are completely unjustified. They still charge you!!! THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE MONEY...BY TAKING AT ADVANTAGE OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS. RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Much better and less expensive choices for boat rentals at Candlewood Lake.
Drop your boat in elsewhere! Weve boated around the country and this is by far the most expensive and one of the worst ramp weve used. Moreover the management staff was rude and unaccommodating. Loved the lake so we will be back, but will be sure to avoid Gerards.
I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about... we had a great experience. We rented a pontoon for a full day. Our day out consisted of my husband and I as well as our two daughters (18 months and 3 years). We had a GREAT day! We drove up, a nice young man greeted us, we went in, we got a map, etc, got on the boat, another nice young man went over everything we needed to know and then we shoved off. The boat was clean and enclosed so we didnt have to worry about our little ones. We found great places to anchor and swim.At the end of the day, we allowed enough time to get back to the Marina and turn in the boat. We waited in line to get gas, but it wasnt bad. We filled up the boat, the staff did a quick review of the boat and propeller (to make sure there wasnt damage)... we paid the gas and went home. GREAT DAY!We have rented from Echo Bay 3 times prior to this and the experience was great as well. They were booked so they referred us to Gerards. I have to say, based on the other reviews, I was nervous to rent from Gerards. It was fine. We followed their very explicit cancellation as well as return policy and all went well.We will definitely rent from Gerards again.
Have been renting here for years. Christa and company are always straight-up and professional. The rental staff and dock crew are patient and friendly. They want you to have a good time.
Our pontoon rental was lots of fun. Candlewood Lake is amazing and there were lots of fun people out in their boats. The pontoon we rented was clean and new, no complaints. I would rent again, the price was right.
Low key relaxed style, long time local family owned business. Location is BEAUTIFUL. This is where true Candlewood boaters dock and youll understand what that means if youre one of them. Ive seen them help a lot of people who dont belong to their marina who break down out on the lake at the end of the day, stranded and their own marina has closed/ wont pick them up or tow them in. Gerards is one of the few, if not only marina left on the lake that embodies the atmosphere of what life living on Candlewood lake was built from and has been.New and used boat dealers, on site certified service & repair and summer time rentals.Proudly representing Four Winns, Tige (wake surf) and SouthBay Pontoon brands.LOOKING FORWARD TO SUMMER!!!!
100 Ton Licensed Captains review of Gerards:MAYDAY. MAYDAY. MAYDAY.Rented a boat today. After a walk-through for previous damage- there was damage noted to the propeller. Fast-forward 30 minutes....the boats oil pressure gauge sounds and then the boat starts to violently shake. We anchor immediately and phone for assistance. Appx.30 minutes later boat assistance arrived on scene. After diagnosing a prop issue along with oil issue, another gentleman was summonsed to the scene. The same propeller that was damaged upon check-in had cracked off and we needed a new prop. 2 gentlemen ended up helping us with the three issues (motor, oil, prop). The boat broke down FIFTEEN (15) times on the way back to Gerards with the mechanic following behind us.Now comes the commitment to customer service that Gerards apparently is known for:Immediately upon entering the office the manager assumes a hostile posture and tells me Im lucky he doesnt charge me $1500 for hitting something and the mechanic staff is going to run a diagnostic test to see what we did to the motor (even though we sat anchored the entire day waiting for assistance with the motor off after the previously-damaged $50 aluminum prop cracked off). He refused to return my drivers license until I signed a receipt for the phony charges. He told me I was responsible for everything and started to get very hostile and then told me he was going to call the police. THANK GOD he called the police to the marina. PD arrives, tells him I dont have to sign & he has to return my ID to me.Long story short, it sounds like this place has been ripping people off for a long time. Get your act together Gerards-- its 2017, you really think people will continue to tolerate your BS?RUN- dont walk away from this place. Blue collar staff is great- Management belongs in federal prison.Bye Gerards.
Staff is extremely rude and will go out of their way to charge you unnecessarily. Do not believe quoted price. Highly unprofessional. Would not let my friend and I change our rental date without billing us for an extra deposit, inexplicably quoting company policy (even though it was within 24 hours of original booking and 2 months out from the reservation date). Strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your boat rentals.
Very good service - proper explanation of rules and regulations, briefing on board, very helpful and cordial staffLake and greenery around it is awesome.
Family friendly Business staff is very friendly very helpful and always accounted for.Gerards has supported jobs for young men who are always very kind and helpful.Always at the gas dock working very hard in the blazing heat. They so rentals, and also provide dockage and storage for your boat which is very useful for people out there who are new to the boating system.Their prices are very reasonable for what they provide you with there different packages for different activities and benefits. Those Prices are also reasonable. They do not rip you off in any way.I totally recommend Looking more into them and their website and social media for more informations.
I feel its the best Marina on the lake, great service and everyone always friendly and willing to help you out
The management is incredibly rude and tries to bully you into paying false damages. How can a business operate like this. Do not recommend!
Absokutely love the staff customers & owners. If you want a good time renting a boat def go here!!!
People working at this marina are very unprofessional, rude and nasty. We just bought our first used boat and for some reason could not start it although it had a new engine put in. We brought it in to Gerards marina since we knew that they specialize in jet boats to run the diagnostic. On the fourth day they call and say that there is nothing wrong with the boat, that they took it for a ride on the lake and charged 125 dollars for the diagnostic. We started the boat but does not run and it still has no power. Obviously they did not check anything or they hurt it in some way. These people working in this marina are unfriendly, stuck up, low class and judgmental.
Did not like anything about the place. I dealt with them before with no issues. My family has dealt with them numerous times. Bottom line i felt very insulted because i rented a premium rental and was given tbe oldest boat in the marina even though i was one of the first renters there. The staff was extremely rude. The boat was banged up. My horn was not working but was given a wistle instead. The boat was dirty from the previous rental. The doors were broken, wouldnt stay closed. I have a five year old and when i mentioned the doors and the fact my son could fall out the rude guy was like well its your responsibility to watch your son and he has a life jacket on anyway. In summary most of the staff was disrespectful and rude especially the young lady who purposely switched my boat .Will never rent out of here again.
HORRIBLE, UNPLEASANT, SELF ENTITLED STAFF. THEY WILL MAKE UP DAMAGES WHEN YOU RETURN YOUR BOAT AND CHARGE YOU HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. I WOULD NOT BE SUPRISED TO SEE THIS PLACE ON CHANNEL 5s SHAME ON YOU
Stay far away from this place, liars cheats and the most misrable people I have met
Nice people family run operation they really care about you they told us about at a very good price and maintain it for us
I think they are the best family Marina on Candlewood lake.
Worked here and quit due to disrespectful owner and staff. They didnt follow torque specs, decided if the client was wealthy enough to chargw them for problems and if they werent wealthy wouldnt notifiy customer of problems cuz they knew they couldnt afford it, drank during operation hrs, disrespected staff that wasnt family. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Go to echo bay marina. They are much more professional.
I made a reservation for a Premium Pontoon boat on June 9th with Nicole. She explained to me that if I cancelled or moved the reservation 3 days prior to the reservation date I was responsible for the $50, If i Cancelled or moved the reservation 3 days within the reservation date I was responsible for the full amount. I asked that if I called before the 3 days I would not be charged the full amount. She said yes. This is where things get tricky and quite honestly confusing because their written policy and knowledge of it does not coincide.NOTE: My reservation date was for Sunday, June 15thI had a major family emergency on Wednesday night June 11th. It was late and the Marina was closed. I set to call them 1st thing Thursday Morning (4 days within my reservation date, 3 days prior to my reservation date). My first call was at 10:10am to let them know I had an emergency and wanted to make sure that my penalty was only the $50. Nicole proceeds to let me know that I am responsible for the full $450. I cried. A lot. Because I did not have that money now that I had an unexpected Family emergency. She did not care and the conversation ended in me telling her that I was going to call her back.I tried to get others to go on the boat and reimburse me so that I would not loose that money. All of this mind you, before I realized that I had cancelled with MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO NOT GET CHARGED!. I called at 10:36 am to let her know I was going to try and find some folks to get on the boat. Anyway, the weekend comes along and no one can get on the boat.I start going through their site and the email confirmation and realize,: wait a minute I cancelled with in the time they allow for me to NOT GET CHARGED!THESE PPL ARE SCAMMERS they do not voice and or understand heir policy at all! This is the Policy: From the moment the boat is reserved to three days prior to the reservation date if the rental, for any reason, is cancelled or rescheduled for another date, $50.00 will be charged to the credit card of the renter. If the rental is cancelled or rescheduled within three days of the reservation date, the FULL price for the rental will be charged.3 days Prior:SundaySaturday (Day 1 Prior to Reservation Date)Friday (Day 2 Prior to Reservation Date))Thursday (Day 3 Prior to Reservation Date) THIS IS WHEN I WANTED TO CANCEL $50 apply here3 Days Within:Sunday (DAY 1 with in Reservation)Saturday (DAY 2 with in Reservation)Friday (DAY 3 with in Reservation)Thursday THIS WAS BEFORE THE POLICY TIME FRAME TO CANCEL. I was told i had to play the full amount... not true. Please do not rent from this place. ECO BAY is so much nicer! The boats and the people are much much nicer.I was shocked that they did not even sympathize with the family emergency and that they till the very end argued that I was the one in the wrong. I cancelled my debit card to not get charged and am proceeding with legal action in case they do.This is not good business practice.
What a great marina and the owners and staff are super friendly and helpful.
Great staff and the boats were great! Highly recommend it!
Will never rent from this Marina again. And yes, its obvious that the postive review was written by staff or owner of the company. Poorly maintained boats, and a complete rip off, they charge you a arm and leg, make sure you inspect the boat and have them mark everything down, or they will charge you even for the the most obvious previous damages. Will never rent again.
I left my boat with Gerards in the end of October to put new gas tank in it. It never got done. It took me two months to get my boat back. They never returned calls. When i did talk to someone it one story after another.
The people running this facility are terrible. A piece of our boat broke off almost hitting my baby sister in the head. AND THEY ARE MAKING US PAY FOR IT. IVE NEVER MET A GROUP OF PEOPLE SO IDIOTIC.
Excellent family owned marina!
These people suck, liars, cheats and the worst customer service I have ever seen
Stay away from this place, lieing right on the spot
Excellent service
Friendliest people on the lake.
Friendly staff.
