Upgraded from 1 star but still has a lot of problems - long lines, short staffed. My packages are at least not rifled thru (anymore), lame postman on my route was replaced, & people who work here seem friendly. Really gotta figure out how to staff properly during peak periods.
I ordered a Christmas gift and it was “delivered” 12/11/20. When I looked there was no package in sight. I sent an email online about the missing package and had to wait until the next business day to receive a response. I talked to Athena and she told me there was nothing that could be done because it was GPS scanned outside my door and that maybe somebody stole the package. I proceeded to tell her that the home renter checked the security camera and the mail carrier never delivered anything to my door at that time. She proceeded to tell me I could come to the office and receive the report that it was scanned at my address. All the other mail and packages that were delivered that day were there. She said she would contact the carrier to check with my neighbors and I haven’t heard or seen it since. I contacted the company that I ordered the gift from and they told me their records show my item was delivered on 12/1/2020. Either way, the post office was no help and I’m out an expensive gift for my mother-in-law for Christmas.

First visit here; they had no problem charging me for the tape, but refused to take my packages when it was a little after the official closing time. I’ve worked at a post office before and our policy was to always clear out the remaining people in the lobby before we lock the doors. We never kicked anyone out. I could have let that go, I understand time-crunches and how annoying it can be when people walk in at the last minute (I had gotten there with eleven minutes to spare and was packaging, then counting up how many of what kind of stamps I would ask so they wouldn’t have to go through every envelope. Once it hit 1:03, that was when she demanded I get rung out for the tape but not my packages). It was the fact that when I walked in, one of the workers was heckling a customer after his card was declined, and was insanely disrespectful. I live right down the road from this office and I still will never be coming back.
The window clerks are always helpful and kind, answering all my questions and sometimes suggesting less expensive ways to ship things. When my husband & I renewed our passports there, the gentleman who helped us was terrific, taking us through the process step-by-step and making it a relatively quick and painless experience.
The lady at the counter was suspicious about a money order I was sending, and advised me to do some research. She saved me a fortune. Respect and thanks to a very pleasant and helpful lady.
I ordered a gift on amazon. It was supposed to come Friday and didn’t. There was a failed delivery and both USPS website and Amazon say to pick up the package at the NL location. So I drove there and tried picking it up. The “supervisor” told me I “wasn’t allowed to just come and pick it up.” The USPS tracker should not advise to pick up if they will not fulfill it. “There’s too many of them” isn’t this your job? You should be doing it. Ridiculous that I have to leave empty handed when your website told me to pick it up.
The staff here are great! Very friendly and very helpful. Ive gone in here with lots of questions ranging from an address change to shipping or delivery. They are always patient, kind & helpful.The building is always clean. The lines can get long during busy hours however the staff are fast and efficient.*Also- I have had great experience with New London mail carriers. Friendly & great.
The people inside are nice. I paid extra for a signature, and they waived it, without telling me and left it at the door.
By far the worst set of people. They didnt want to do a passport renewal. So they pretty much gave me bad information, made me buy another copy of a b.c i did not need to renew passport because my expired passport was sufficient enough. But because this old grumpy man doesnt like doing passports, they cost me additional $100 didnt need to do. Worst people to go to
Come see the awesome whaling themed WPA murals! (they finally have info displayed about them). Better lighting would help. Ive been coming here since there was a blind man selling newspapers and candy in the lobby. 2 of 3 clerks seem to pride themselves on who can move slower. All in all, a valuable and reliable government service which we all should use and treasure. Save the USPS from the demagogue-prone proto-oligarchs (GOP)!
