Even though their counter sign said nobody was around after 11pm at the main service desk, at 10:20 pm there was nobody there. So, then you go and wait in line at the Hertz/Budget/Thrifty counter with a bunch of other disgruntled Hertz/Budget/Thrifty customers for 20-30 minutes. Then they give me a car with a 1/4 tank of gas that constantly beeps that its overdue for maintenance and shakes with the right combination of moderate speed and a certain angle of the steering wheel. Then you call their customer service number, and get four options - none of which is to talk to a person about your awful rental car. I get that there is a worker shortage at the moment and that some things can be forgiven, but lets also remember that car rentals cost twice as much or more as they did a year ago, but now you get a sketchy car and no help. God bless corporate America!
Terrible service!!I have 2 hours waiting for attention in call. I got transferred so a specialist in flat tires answers. This week the car also had a dead battery and they did not help me. They offered to send the towing vehicle but that I needed to go to Nashville to pick another car. How am I supposed to make a 1-hour trip with no car? I had to solve this myself.Wont rent from them again.
So many unnecessary fees on top of that wait hours for a car in the airport. What a joke. ALSO the customer service takes 1-3hrs to respond IF you need roadside assistance. You’ve been warned.Be sure to have insurance, BUT even with insurance they will milk you dry. STAY away from dollar, thrifty, hertz. They’re all failing businesses that need your hard earned money to stay aliveEnterprise, Avis, Alamo DOES BETTER service.
Car was great. Buick SUV ran good, was easy on gas. We rented the car in Nashville Airport and intended to return it there. We had an emergency change of plans and returned it to Memphis airport. Thrifty was extremely accommodating to our sudden change. We have used Thrifty many times and always been happy with the service. The only negative with the car is that it had a lingering cigarette smell - very mild but there none the less. I tried to air it out completely but we had a lot of rain so I was unable to keep the windows open very much. Neither of us smoke but it really wasnt strong enough to cause a problem. I mention it because if you are allergic to the smell, check your car before you leave with it. Im sure Thrifty will gladly switch it for you. I will always recommend Thrifty because of their great service and very reliable cars. Thank you Thrifty.
This company is horrible and I will never rent from them again. I had a reservation 4 weeks out and paid in advance. When I arrived they told me they dont have a car available andi was stranded at the airport. I had to come out of pocket to get another car. Now they are giving me hell about giving me my refund. They told me initially that I would be refunded in 3 to 5 days now so I waited. Now, they are saying that I have to go through another process. Dont use this company!!!!!!
Had to make a change in pick up, they canceled the reservation and rebooked with and additional charge of $50.00.It took three different calls, with over 2 hours spent dealings with people who could not speak fluent English. Extremelyaggravating and frustrating. Nothing is simple anymore. All I wished to do was assign a later pickup time for my car rental. Their service was disappointing.
Stood in line over a hour even though there were only 6 people in front of me. At BNA. Hidden fees! I had a prepayed rental through Priceline but still had to pay an additional $480 through fees. I turned the car in before the time it was due but they added enough time to it to put me into another day by 2 minutes. That resulted in another full day rental fee. They will not get me again!
These guys are crooks they charged my credit card 53.00 2 weeks after returning there car with a full tank of gas and tried to say it wasnt full and they wont refund the money. I would not recommend using these people this is Fraud.
Great customer service. Did not get her name but she took care of me. I will be back. When I returned the rental, I was told the customer service person at the desk was named Melissa. She took care of me. Very good service. While I was picking up the vehicle on Thursday, a customer next to me was having an issue about his credit card being used for a rental. He lived in the area but did not meet the minimum requirements for the rental, plus he did not know when or where he was going to drop off the car. It was suspicious. He raised his voice to the other customer service desk person, who remained calm and explained to the irate customer that he could not provide a vehicle for him to rent. It was handled very well.
The worst experience ever. Hidden prices and scams between thrift and the company Priceline. The woman at the front desk told me because it was my birthday she was giving me a discount on my rental and that she will give me a better car. And I took the offer and I asked her about my previous reservations with Priceline and she said it’s ok don’t worry about it. To Surprise thrift and Priceline doesn’t communicate between them. I end up paying 600 for a rental. The woman thrift at the front desk never told me I have to cancel my previous reservation myself with Priceline. Priceline will not do nothing about the because once the reservation is done you can’t cancel. they have their cut on the money and thrift will not do anything about it either and they have their cut too. Thrift a scam company. Be careful.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Car rental pickup was at 8:15pm and there was a line of over 30 people and no employees working at the desk. Everyone was waiting and trying to contact them. I called the corporate number and they confirmed they are open until 11pm. I asked the corporate if they could send an employee to the desk and they said “someone will be there shortly” I asked how long and they replied “I don’t know but management is coming” I asked for a name of the “manager” that is supposedly coming and they placed me on hold then hung up. It’s been over an hour and still no employees.
I have stood in the line for thrifty over an hour and there is only one person it looks like taking care of all the people. I have a reservation too. Will never use Thrifty again. I have back issues and can’t stand on hard concrete very long. Very frustrating!!
Arrived at airport about 10:30. Plane was 1 hr late. So not in good mood. Arriving at rental location and find a long line. 30 or more people and only 2 people at counter. So far my wait has been 30 minutes and I would say given the pace of processing I have another 30-45 minutes to wait. DONT USE THRIFTY.
In three recent rental episodes at the Nashville airport withThrifty as a Blue Chip member, I have been incredibly underwhelmed with the total incompetence and carelessness with which this company does business. In spite of being a Blue Chip member, which means that everything is supposedly taken care of in advance and you should walk up and see your name and parking space on the board so that you can go directly to your car, my family and I have had to stand in the cold line at the Nashville airport in their windy parking garage to wait for someone to help. Each time, I was given a different set of excuses for why the car wasnt ready and why I had to waste as much as 25 minutes in line waiting to get help. I have written to the company and Ive even been told by one representative that my paperwork and my phone number would be put on top of the managers desk for him to call me the next day. Here I am, 10 days later and still waiting for a phone call that will never come. Do not waste your time, your money, your effort or your energy on this company at BNA airport.
There was a $200 billing error on my rental agreement in the Phoenix airport. It took me 2 calls to customer service to reduce the error to $80, and the issue is still not completely resolved. Both customer service representatives were unable to comprehend the issue, and when I finally got through to a supervisor, he was rude and refused to acknowledge that a mistake had been made. I am appalled and cannot believe that Thrifty allows their customer service staff to speak to customers that way. Next time, I will go with a rental company that is upfront about their charges, even if it means paying more. Not worth it to get burned on the back end!
I paid when I booked the car. I paid for a full-size car. I was only supposed to be charged $44 when I picked up the car. I had to fight with them to get the car I paid for. First they tried to give me a compact car they called a “crossover SUV”. They then tried to give me some other cars whose mileage I would not have trusted. The woman at the counter was rude and was trying to belittle me for holding out for the car I paid for. Don’t rent from Thrifty. They also fraudulently used my credit card. The $44 I had to pay when I picked it up——they hit my credit card for $244 and now customer service won’t answer me. They FRAUDULENTLY charged my card. Also—I was told to go to the desk in the Baggage Claim area. Nobody is there. I had to walk about a half mile to the garage area and wait about an hour before I finally got my car. It’s probably easier to steal a car than to rent from this lousy outfit.
Very bad experience. Waited in line 30 mins just to get my car at the airport. Only 1 employee was attending people even though there was a long line. Totally ridiculous, I’ll never use Thrifty again!!
Rented a full size car for my husbands birthday weekend. Had a reservation a least a week in advance. Arrived off our flight at the Thrifty counter in Jacksonville airport to be told “cars are coming in slowly.” What this translated too was cars were not returned and needed to be sanitized. For myself and guests, and the other 20+ people waiting in line we were all very frustrated. We stood inline to be checked in for a min of 30 min only to have to wait an additional 2.5 HOURS to get keys to a car. Again there was no explanation other than- cars are coming in slowly. Families and individuals were stuck as there weren’t any cars to be rented and many of us were literally stranded at the airport waiting on a car we reserved weeks ago! When we did get to the counter we were offered a Porsche Cheyenne at $300/cash a day! No other accommodations were made to improve the situation- no vouchers, discounts etc. worst experience. Will not recommend nor use company again.
Terrible signage inside the airport. It says there is a rental car sign in and you have to go to first. But when you get there there’s no one there and you just have to go to the garage. Once at the garage multiple car rental places are manned by one single person. I kid you not.Approximately one hour in line to get to the rental counter on 3/19/21. Amazingly bad service at Nashville airport
Aynalem was very rude. Never will go back.
If I could leave negative stars I would, I had the hardest time with this company this past weekend. I booked a rental with them & everyone who worked there kept telling me it was different prices & they ended up over charging me at the end. Customer service is terrible, would never recommend to someone I cared about, maybe an enemy though. Its honestly disheartening that companies like this are out here taking advantage of people. Wont EVER use this company again.
My experience was fine. I was worried because of the bad reviews, but we had absolutely no issues with our rental.
Scammer Alert. This company is a complete joke.Me and my wife rented a vehicle from them for a whole month for a quote $924 which we prepaid and that was ok for us.We returned the vehicle 9.days earlier cause our plans have changed and we had to fly back home .And we never asked for any reimbursement or anything cause thats what we agreed on and payed .Well 1. hour later we got an email that they charged us additional $850 .For what ?They said that we returned the vehicle to soon and thats the new charge. Please be careful does people will rip you off.We complained and it has been 7.days still no response from them.Scam,scam,scam.
Let me ask you to go somewhere else, they are a scam on renting vehicles
Guy working the returns on 6/6/21 very rude and Ghetto. Wont use thrifty at BNA anymore
I would give them a -10 if I could. Customer service is rude. They don’t listen to you. There is no direct line to contact where you got the car from. This is the worst rental place I have ever used and will never use again. Avoid this place if you can. My husband is a truck driver we are stuck in Georgia trying to get help with this rental car and we just get a repeat of information we already know and no one will give us a direct number to contact the facility where we rented the car from.
Empty counter with no signs saying to go outside. I thought they might just be pooping, but after too long I finally asked the nice lady at Alamo if anyone actually works at Thrifty. She said the counter was just for show and that I needed to go out where you actually pick up the cars. Terrible experience, would not recommend. Will go with Alamo or Enterprise next time, they had people working.
Easy rental.
Picked up late night, car was dirty and the low washer fluid warning was flashing. Car also said it was due for service. Other than that was as expected.
SCAM ARTISTSThey charge a $15 fee PER TOLL that you pass (WHICH ARE NOW CASHLESS) in South Florida. They dont disclose this and have had a class action lawsuit in regards. So basically, you rent a vehicle and can no longer stop and pay tolls via card or cash. There is no consent to this. If you drive through a $2 toll, they bill you $2 + $15 per toll. They now legally have a limit around $95 due to the class action lawsuit where they cant bill you more than $95 in admin fees on this. Except guess what.. they keep trying to bill my credit card each month! Its been 2 months since our vacation and I have an $80 charge, a $12 charge, and now another $12 charge.AVOID THESE SCAMMERS like the plague! I will be contacting the florida attorney general about this anti consumer practices.
The rest of the rental area has kiosks. Thrifty, Hertz, and Dollar have one person working, and a line Ive been in for 45 minutes, and Im still 4 people from the counter. I prepaid because rental cars are expensive...next time Ill spend the extra.
Doesnt deserve a half of star . . . horrible customer service and cannot get anywhere with them and now I have to go back to the airport and pay parking to deal with the incompetence
Smooth pick up.and drop off. Prices very reasonable. Friendly professional staff.
Didnt pick up phone
I paid for a portion of my rental before arriving at the airport to complete purchase, and collect the vehicle. Upon arrival, I found out I did not have the correct documents (which is understandable), so my friend, completed our booking for us instead. The problem is, Thrifty would not acknowledge the fact that I already paid a portion of the same rental online. They refuse to allow me to use MY funds towards MY rental, AND they refuse to then give me my money back, OR allow me to use it toward a future THRIFTY rental. Not to mention, the rates they charged us at the desk were higher than the rates I was given on Thriftys website, the same rates, I already PAID on.To add insult to injury, the same car we OVERPAID for, got a flat tire, 20 minutes in to the trip. I called Thrifty for assistance, because I paid for road side service, and they refused to send someone out stating over the phone about our insurance, The insurance does not cover that, even though my receipt, and rental contract states otherwise. They also did not allow for me to then have the tire changed by the near by tire shop, and instead told me that my only recourse was to drive back to the airport, and exchange the vehicle. I did as I was advised by the Thrifty agent on the phone, and received another vehicle.Upon returning the rental car at the end of my trip, I found out that I was charged for a return/exchange fee -- the return they TOLD me to do, because THEY refused to acknowledge the insurance that I PAID for. My receipt also confirmed, that I was in fact charged for the road side assistance, the same assistance that I pleaded for over the phone, and did not receive. I was also charged for the Tires. How pathetic.Ill never rent from Thrifty again. This was THE absolute worst rental experience.
Thrifty will be the cheapest you will get at the Nashville airport when you compare it with other rental services. DO NOT USE THEM. Nor Hertz or Dollar, as they are all owned by the same company.Unfortunately, some of the employees at this branch are severely underhanded and you must make it ABUNDANTLY clear that you do not want any extras with your rental. Just saying so is apparently not enough.I was charged 3x the agreed amount for my rental (which I was told that $200 of it would be returned when I returned the car) for apparently agreeing to extra coverage. I never do this, and would never unless it was legally required. I have rented from Thrifty and Hertz previously around the globe while in the military, but I have never experienced an issue such as this with any other branch. Nor have I ever agreed to extra coverage unless legally required.I contacted Hertz customer service explaining that I was miscommunicated the total of the rental, but was told that I had agreed to all charges and they refused to refund the amount of the extra coverage.Honestly, do not use this branch, pay a bit extra and go for a service that will not disregard its customers as one-off purchasers. Its unfortunate that such a large company can still swindle you in 2020.Also, please note that another reviewer has experienced the same issue in a recent period. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident.
Was charged a grand total of 1803 for a rental that was quoted at 735, was charged twice for the under age drivers fee, called, put on hold for over two hours and then told that they didn’t charge me, despite over 1000 dollars more than quoted is missing to thrifty car rental, I will never rent here again, nothing but crooks and thieves
This place is so dishonest. I rented a car that was $125 for 3 days. When signing the contract, the clerk asked if I wanted to purchase insurance, etc. I said NO. I always do. I have my own insurance that is sufficient. The only thing I EVER elect to get is the fuel. When I got my final bill, it was $419! I called, and they said it was because I elected to get the insurance that ended up being over $130/day. They would not remove the charges. I even suggested looking at my past rental contracts that clearly show that I never get insurance. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who never came on the line...big surprise. What a scam, and clear example of taking advantage of your customers. I will never us Thrifty/Dollar again.
Horrible experience. Rented a car in advance. Provided the flight info and pickup time. Got off the plane which landed only 15 minutes late and got to the thrifty counter to find no one anywhere except us travelers staring at an empty thrifty rental. Numerous calls to the 800 number got me nowhere. To be fair hertz was also empty. In a fact all the advantage rental companies had packed up and left us without help. Thankfully budget and Avis we’re open and doing brisk business. They had me in a car at a better price in no time and explained they stay until the last planes arrive while the rental agents on the other side of the rental plaza leave when things start to get slow. Rent at budget. Don’t risk it with thrifty. I can only imagine how they would’ve ruined the weekend and stranded me in the airport because they didn’t care to rent the car they contracted to rent because business got slow near the end of the day. Thank you budget for saving the weekend.
Wish I had read the reviews before renting from this location! As an experienced traveler I have rented my fair share of cars and NEVER had an experience like this one! As per usual, I declined any additional coverage but, you guessed it, discovered on my receipt when I returned my car that I had been charged for insurance and roadside assistance! I specifically said I DID NOT want additional coverage when asked at the counter. I also asked if the amount I was seeing on the credit card machine when I picked up the car was just the usual hold they put on and was told yes and reassured it would come out to the original price I had booked it for.Called the 1-800 # thinking surely they have some sort of protocol for when things like this happen and was told that I should have read my entire agreement before I signed no matter what the employee said, and that there was nothing they could do since I signed. Never once were they concerned that the employee had tacked on unauthorized charges and just reiterated that it was my fault for not reading an entire contact and trusting that I wasn’t getting taken for a ride!!I have a feeling there may be some sort of incentive for employees to add this additional coverage, otherwise why would so many reviews for this location literally have the same story? It looks like the last thing Thrifty wants to do is take responsibility for their employees on both a local or corporate level.Ugh ok, rant over!Moral of the story is lesson learned! Read the google reviews and apparently your rental car contracts carefully so you don’t get taken for a ride like me!
Words can’t describe how slow they’re taking to get people keys. A line of about 20 people. Only one person working the desk. Taking 15-20 minutes per person.
They will say you smoked in the car when you don’t even smoke and charge you an extra $300!! be weary of these scammers.
AWFUL. Do not rent here. I was mislead by their agents and mis-charged. I have been in dispute with customer service and billing disputes (which wont communicate aside from threatening letters). When you call customer service you get a recorded message saying they are closed. I cannot stress enough how difficult they have been to deal with. Ive also lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
They seem shorthanded.
Worst telephone customer service I have ever experienced. Change of location fees contradict the website info and increase by hundreds of dollars when asked for clarification. Their agents hang up on you or put you on indefinite hold without telling you. Theyre not even cheaper than other firms. How can they remain in business?
Derrick was awesome at the front desk. He helped me and went further than any of the other companies would for me. I was a diehard Enterprise customer and now have a new rental car company. Good people are the face of your company, Thank you.
This is the WORST PLACE TO RENT A VEHICLE!!! I reacted the car thru another website ( thank God because who knows how much money I’d be out of if I had of went thru thrifty) and got a week for 310$. Got the car, went on my trip, had the car cleaned, brought it back and the guy checking returns said looks good, I leave. Three days later I see a 400$ Thrifty charge on my account. I received no phone call not an email explaining why I was being charged. (I called the day before returning to ask for the return date because we had a mix up at the front desk. They answered gave me my info.. that was that!) I call to figure out what’s going on!!! Automated message, on hold for literally 30 mins waiting on a representative! I decide to go up there. Manage says it was a smoking fee... I HAVE NEVER SMOKED A DAY IN MY LIFE!! Then he says let me look for PICTURE proof! What in tarnation is PICTURE PROOF FOR A SMELL! He says they’ll refund me the money it’ll take 10biz days. I email him for confirmation, no confirmation of refund okayyy. A week has passed I check my account this morning... THRIFTY HAS TAKEN 45$ out of my hard earned money AGAIN!!! No email or call as to why I have a charge and I haven’t had the rental in 10 days!! At this point I’m going to file a claim because this is beyond SHEISTY!
Customer service is at a 0 terrible attitude immediately walked out
Is there a way to give no stars? What a horrible experience. My initial bill was Base rate $170.50(Excludes car rental extras) $239.54 on a mid sized car for 5 days. My total bill was $593.92. Nearly 120 dollars a day for a no frills ride and less than a half tank of gas burned that week. Nothing Thrifty here. The worst part was when I challenged the number the lady behind the counter said 200 of it would be reimbursed upon return and then charged the full amount. When I asked upon return they said it would take a few weeks to show up. It never did. After dealing with their customer service about it they determined that there was nothing to reimburse and the charges were correct. Buyer beware.
I went to the thrifty counter and rented a truck. Their computers were down so it was hand written. I called 4-5 times to extend the rental. No one could locate a person to tell me exactly what was going on. I was told it was rented from dollar. I wax told it was rented from Hertz. I was told they don’t know what was going on with this rental. I get a miscellanies charge from Dollar rent a car for over 1600.00. They had a party on my money and bank account. I have a thrifty rental agreement on thrifty paper and they without my permission gave my information to Dollar rent a car. I might check dominoes to make sure they did not have pizzas ordered as well. For all I know the guy at the counter assumed my identity and gave my credit card information to his girlfriend. First of all the charges I dispute, no way was it 1600 dollars when this guy just told me the truck rented for 18.00 a day. Second besides fraud just adding whatever they feel like there is the matter of privacy laws and identity theft. Now that it is over 1000 dollars that is felony grand theft. Dollar receiving stolen property. Dollar then charges whatever it decided to make up; fraud by dollar. Thrifty complicit in a felony. Identity theft disbursement of stolen goods. That money better be in my account tonight or in the morning I file federal charges against both companies. David [email protected]
I am writing this review mainly for employee who went above and beyond in helping us.I arrived at the Nashville airport to pick up my rental car but had a slight issue of loosing my ID. We were hoping to switch the reservation name to my boyfriends however since it was booked through hotwire they had no control. It was late at night and there was no way to call the dmv to be sent a temporary ID and also there was no way to change the name on the reservation since there was a no change policy.Islam the site manager worked with us for over an hour trying to help us so we wouldnt loose our money or reservation. I am very grateful for his kindness and willingness to help. Thank you
The prices are good! But it does not help when you get a very pushy person representing the company that is supposed to be helping you. When it is very clear he is pushing his own agenda!!
The check in was simple, the agent was very pleasant, the car was nicer than expected, the value was incredible and the return was a snap,
I used airport location pick up was longer than expected considering I’m a blue chip member (they’re program that’s a joke.. you also have to be approved for it). Drop off seemed fine until I got my receipt. There were a bunch of undisclosed fees... needless to say I will be going back to Avis and enterprise! Don’t waste your time with this company. Customer service couldn’t even explain anything
I never post online but I truly felt motivated after meeting Melissa out of the Nashville Airport location. She has to be the most pleasant and informative person I met on my trip. She not only set us up with a great rental but she took the time to give us highlights in the area. Wonderful employee! If anyone deserves a raise at work its her.
I rent a car and I give that guy my drivers license and my zip code the total estimate is $123 .37 and he said the car cheap cause the covid -19 when I got here in oakland airport they charge me 967 $ I tried to call them for 3 hours I couldnt reach them horrible experience and unprofessional customer service the guy have eschew hearing so do I have to pay his mistake and they dont even answer my call every time I reach them they hung up on me
I would not recommend this company as they with try to up charge you. They ended up charging me for fuel after I repeatedly declined. ( I also returned the car with a full tank of fuel as well as I had stated that I did not want the offer )Come to find that they still charged me and put it in my agreement. What is the most unsettling about this is the fact that I repeatedly declined the offer, yet apparently the staff member of Thrifty still kept it in my policy.Be careful when dealing with them, or save yourself the hassle and rent with someone else.
If your expectations are for no one you interact with in person, on the phone or chat to help you in anyway, you should really enjoy yourself. If youre expecting to be helped, hard pass.EDIT: to respond to Nikeya- My review was written AFTER interacting with at least 8 social customer care team members
Made a reservation for Thanksgiving day months in advance. Our flight arrived and we made our way to the counter. Another customer advised us that they told her car would be ready in 15 minutes, but she had been waiting for over an hour. I approached the counter and advised the gentleman that we had a reservation. He proceeded to take all of our information and credit card, etc. He then told us it would be 15 minutes. I thought he was checking us in because perhaps we had a different class of car than the other customer. We then told him, wait, this other customer told us she had been waiting over an hour, and asked him if we are waiting behind her. The poorly trained employee just said, Im sorry, but that is what Im told I have to tell customers, even if there is no real expectation that a car will be available in 15 minutes. We then asked to speak to whoever told him to say that, and he said sorry, he is not available. This was Thanksgiving day, and we had reservation for Thanksgiving Dinner in Memphis, which is a 3 hour drive away. We ended up spending an exorbitant amount of money to rent Hertz last luxury car, so that we could enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner. Terrible management of reservations (obviously way overbooked) and terrible customer service.
I rented a car last week. Within 2 days of having the rental I hit a deer that pretty much totaled the front of the car. I called Thrifty and the next morning they sent a tow truck with another car so my vacation would not be held up. My location was 2 hours away from theirs!! They went above and beyond. I am a Thrifty customer for now on.
Atrocious customer service. Rental delivery and return were perfect, but trying to pay a toll charge has been a nightmare. I have been calling them for several days and no one helps. Online reviews appear to be correct when they warn drivers about these practices. They wont tell drivers about the tolls issues so they can overcharge them when they get the bills. I am trying to avoid that, but they are making it incredibly difficult for me.
I had an awful experience at the Ft Lauderdale airport location. I rented the car and paid in full and when I got to the counter they charged an extra 200.00 deposit in which I was told I would be reimbursed 5 to 7 business days. It has been two weeks and I still have not received my deposit back. Also when I rentedcrhe car the person at the counter pointed me to the door to the garage and said someone would help me. No one was in sight. I had to walk around the garage for 10 min before I saw a gentleman who was very rude walking by and just waived be in the direction of the cars and said just pick one and go. Then he turned and walked away. No one walked around the car with me to make sure there were no issues with the car when I first picked it. Needless to say I will never ever use Thrify or Dollar car rental again. I tried to save money by using Thrifty and I had ended paying more than I would have if I had just used Enterprise. I will always use Enterprise going forward.
Great selection of cards. They are the friendliest group of employees I’ve ever met. Very helpful. I highly recommend them.
I love that you can choose your own car. The employees are very attentive & have the southern sass. I love it!
The associate that assisted me was very friendly and able to confirm my reservation within 10 minutes of getting to the counter. I was able to pick out my car selection from the Full Size line with no problem. Returning the car rental was a smooth process as well. I was able to check out in less than 5 minutes. Keep up the good work!
Be careful about tolls. They charge $15 on top of the toll. Thats for EACH toll. I have used one bridge 3 times a month normally and I would get one bill in the mail for $21. They wanted to charge me $66. Even though there is only one bill and only one needed administration fee they still want to shaft you on the other $30. Ask if they have a toll package.
Thrifty had cars when the others didnt, but they snuck an $9/day optional charge that I had declined when renting the car. Have to file a claim and wait for my money to be refunded. Double check your receipts!
Do not trust them, trust the companies known. trying to save a few bucks in not worth these jokers. customer service is awful, try to switch rates, hidden fees. just go to enterprise.
Reserved car a week before and still had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get the paperwork signed. Went to pick up my car and there did not have any cars in lot but one full size SUV which they would not give me. Waited over an hour for my car in the cold with an 19 month old. No apologies, the service guy named Bill at the Nashville airport was extremely rude. 6 other people showed up after us and they had to wait as well. After an hour, they pull up with the car and 3 employees hop out of the car. Why they need 3 employees to deliver 1 car is beyond my comprehension. I asked to speak to the manager and the old man Bill would not call the manager. The manager knew that people were upset and refused to come speak to us and instead waddled in the other direction to avoid the customers. Called customer service line 3 times only to be hung up on and then put on hold 20 minutes. STAY AWAY FROM THRIFTY!
Unhappy with my experience with Thrifty at the Nashville Airport. Returned the car a day early on a non-prepaid reservation which typically refunds the unused day. Agency refused the refund.Unfortunately this location fails to meet an industry standard claiming a weekly rate discount will not trigger the refund. A rental above $300 is not a discounted rate.
Driver side steer tire needs to be replaced
I am very pleased with the customer service, the speed, efficiency, availability of cars, staff etc. However, I am not satisfied with being charged an additional $30 penalty (I call it) a day for being 5 months away from age 25 without being told that this would happen. My rental went from $84 to $222 just because I am not 25. Who made this rule? I have been driving since I was 15 with no accidents on my record. Why would I be charged so much when the price per day of the car was only $18?? I am upset about this. I read all of the fine print and nowhere did i see I would practically be charged the price of two cars for one. This is upsetting. But everything else was cool.
Worker who signed us in was very friendly and obviously didnt know what he was doing. He said our total $600 and 200 deposit came back. So $400 right. Nope! Showed us the total not included the deposit then stated 200 off that number, which was the full total not including the deposit. Overcharging!!
Flight delays caused me to come in late. Once I got to pick up my rental, I had to walk quite a ways to find this company. At the service desk, I was informed that the SUV I had rented was not available and that I’d be given a full-sized car. There were only two to choose from. Didn’t even leave the airport property and I have a tire pressure light on. This company did not state of a $200 hold on my credit card on top of my rental fee. Trying to get ahold of anyone has been an absolute joke. I will never choose this company again. Absolutely HORRIBLE service!
Unfortunately 1 star is as low as it allows you to rate. This was the worst car rental experience Ive ever had. I rent weekly due to work travel, and I only used thrifty this time because they had cars available where others didnt - I guess now I know why.I never received a receipt, though several charges showed up on my credit card, well above the agreed upon amount per the rental agreement. I had also turned the car in early. Upon return, (at the airport location in Nashville) there was no one at the garage office or at the counter inside the airport. I called the next day to check in and state that I had turned the car in, left the keys in the console with a window down (as instructed at other locations before). They advised that the transaction had been closed out. Now an additional $360 fee has appeared on my credit card several days later. Ive spent 45 minutes so far on hold with 2 different numbers (main customer service number and local office number). I guess Ill be visiting the counter at the airport, if they happen to be there tomorrow that is.Terrible service. I will never use them again and wouldnt advise anyone else to either.
Dont rent from these ripoff artists. Charged me $300 for vehicle damage. I called and said what damage? They claimed they found ashes on drivers floorboard. BS, we dont smoke. They didnt clean it well from previous renters. I disputed it and they still charged me $300 and you cant do anything about it. You cant even dispute it with American Express since they have some BS deal with them. Basically Thrifty can rip you off for finding no damage, not clean the vehicle and do the same thing to the next sucker! This place cannot be trusted!!!!
I had a great experience renting a car through Thrifty. I was quick, affordable, and fast. Shaun, the sales agent, was great and spent time answering my questions about the policy and the car. Rented a Hyundai Sonata and it gave me no problems. Will rent again from Thrifty.
Our service wasnt great - they did very little to explain our charges or options. We got more info online than with the counter afterward. The car was fine, in good shape.
I was caught off guard by the extra $200 deposit but other than that, service was great and the car clean and fantastic.
Even one star is too much. Having booked and prepaid for a car and drivers, I was delayed at the desk with the hard sell, upgrade to a similar car for more money??? Finally got away from the desk to only be told in car park that my car wasnt available yet, it would take a while to get it, buy they could get me an paid upgrade immediately. I said Id wait and lo and behold within one minute my car arrived. On inspection in daylight, it was filthy. Hadnt been cleaned at all, parts missing (took photos). This was my first and last time to use Thrifty/Dollar in BNA.
After a horrible experience with Peter at Avis and the whole Avis customer service department I could not of been happier than to be served by the team at the Nashville airport Thifty Car rental desk. My first encounter was to inquire about rates and availability. I then got back in line to rent a car and Jim was the CSR we helped me! WOW!!! He knows about customer service and engaging with his customer. It was a pleasure rental ing a car from him! He turned a frustrating morning into a great morning! C Quigley
Tyrone was great and very patient. He exhibited great customer service.
My husband and I rented a car for a couple weeks for Christmas to visit family. We had a TERRIBLE experience. First, we reserved online for approximately 560 dollars. By the time we left the counter, the attendant had charged us an extra 300 dollars with fees and insurance that we told him we didn’t want. (Total 836 dollars) He told us he had to charge these things. But, that we would get a 100 dollar deposit back when we returned the car. So, few days later, we check the credit card balance. Thrifty charged us 1400 dollars. I call thrifty, after speaking with three different people, they say the charge will be resolved. Fine. That charge comes off a week later. Then, we return the car and are waiting on the 100 dollar deposit back. After three more calls to Thrifty (2 agents assured me I’d get my deposit back. The last one says there was no such thing as a returned 100 dollar deposit). I’m furious at this point. We finally get it resolved and the charge is correct. This was A LOT of hassle for a simple car rental. I’ve never had so many issues as we have had with this company. We will NEVER do business with them again. DONT EVER RENT FROM THRIFTY.
Great service and price. Hint: join their loyalty club. It expedited the whole process and costs nothing.
We rented a car for less than a week. Specifically said we did not want insurance as we had this covered with our own State Farm agency before we left. The charges us any. A bill that should have been 168.00 ended up being over $486.00. Tried to talk with them and they just dismissed us. WS also td we could pay with a different credit card when we go back that was a lie also. Do yourself a favor there are lots of other rental car companies use one of them. Will never use Thrifty again.
It was a great experience! Everyone was super helpful, polite and a pleasure to work with. Thanks again!!!
Poor customer service at Jacksonville international airport counter. I had to upgrade to get my car early. I asked how much the upgrade cost. If I had not asked she would not have told me. She NEVER told me there was a $31.99 daily charge for damage protection but she charged me. When I signed for it i thought I was signing for the $15 upgrade. She did not go through the list of extra charges what was supposed to be a $71 rental for 4 days turned into $333.00. I called customer service and they gave me a whopping $25.00 discount. Dont rent from Thrifty. They totally ripped me off!
I signed up for the Blue Chip Program last year (no fee). First time I used it! It was so efficient. I went from the airplane to the car lot. My name was on an electronic board with the space number of my car. Keys and contract paper inside. Stopped at the gate on the way out, had a quick check out. From deplaning to leaving the rental car lot, 25 minutes (washroom and baggage claim included)! Thanks Thrifty!!!!
Wasnt told there is a 200 dollar deposit for the car plus they dont take net spent cards either.
Mr. Emil went above and beyond his call of duty to help my fiancé and I along with our two year old son get back home to Atlanta if It had not been for Mr. Emil we would have been stuck in Nashville with no way out. It’s people like Emil that gives me hope that there are still great people as hisself in this world of confusion. I just wanna say God bless you Mr. Emil and keep up your great work.
I wish they would respond to emails. I left my keys in one of the cars we rented. We immediately went back to the location and the person working was more concerned about getting off in 5 mins that they couldnt go to the car I just dropped off to grab my keys. I filed the item lost at the beginning of the month and no one has gotten back to me. I emailed them following up with it, still no response.
Do not rent a car from this company! I rented mine from the Nashville Airport (BNA). They threw in all kinds of hidden fees, mileage charges and upgrades that were not discussed at the time of purchase. I even pre-booked my vehicle online at a price that we agreed on and by the time I dropped it off the price was more than double! I called and told them there were some mistakes on my bill and they basically told me that I signed for it and there’s nothing they could do. I asked to speak to a manager and he said that there were no managers that could help me. Lol. Really!! Extremely unethical business!
I had to go through 3 cars to get to one I could keep. First had a dealer needs to address issue and I was told it was ok. Wrong. Then as I was trying to leave I was stopped at the exit and told the 2nd car needed service. Ended up with a vehicle not nearly as nice as the first 2. Not using them again.
Worst experience ever! Wouldnt recommend this company to my worst enemy. I went to rent a car. The lady said it would only be $130.00 for the economy size car with everything included. When we went to check out, the bill came to $300.00. After telling her several times we did not want anything extra, she still tried charging us. They are very shady. Worst customer service. They are rude. We left and rented a car from National for $160.00 for a better car.
Would give -2 stars if I could. Hidden fees. Terrible customer service. Lack of help when their tire blew. Made us buy a new one just to get home. DO NOT recommend this location or any other! Worst customer experience ever. Cost me over $1,100 to get a car for a week
A+++ Great staff, thanks to islam hussein for all help offered.
Good but did not have the car I thought I was renting. Had an equivalent replacement though.
Great service when picking up and returning. Extremely friendly and the associate at the exit booth knows how to make you smile.
UPDATE: We were charged twice for our rental. It has been very frustrating.THERE ARE SO MANY RENTAL COMPANIES. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR, DO NOT USE THRIFTY.Original Review below was 2 Stars.Overall not a terrible experience however the initial check in attendant Ron told us he was putting a $200 deposit against my credit card. He actually put an additional $400 hold on top of the rental agreement price on my credit card. I am not sure why but he has definitely cost Thrifty/Budget a customer as I will not be renting from them in the future.
Could not have been an easier car rental experience. Very nice fleet of vehicles. Highly recommend.
