I’ve been taking our cats here for more than 25 years and have not only found everyone exceptionally friendly but very proficient and concerned about our pets. I recently lost our cat, Cairo after a several year battle and several different vets and their staff always went out of their way to befriend her. When we finally lost her the entire staff sent us a signed card expressing their sorrow. I wouldn’t consider going to a different Vet if you are concerned about your animals. At the moment they are expending an enormous amount of extra effort to keep customers safe during the virus and come out to your car to accommodate any needs! The veterinarian & technician (Becca) at this hospital were amazing. I work at a veterinary diagnostic lab and wanted to save some money and run some tests myself, and Dr. MacMillan was awesome about it and gave me advice on what tests to run and she was willing to work with me and do whatever she could while also allowing me to save some money to run the tests myself. She was quick, smart, and gave me great info and advice. If I wasn’t moving to a new city I would bring my pets back in a heartbeat!
I recently moved to Napa and needed a new veterinarian for my two dogs. I brought one of my dogs to Silverado Veterinary because she was ill. I brought a stack of all of her records, including all of her shot records. My dog had received her annual shots just prior to my moving, so she was not due for any shots. Because of Covid, I waited in the car while she was seen by the vet. The vet gave her every single shot a dog would need, completely ignoring the records I had handed to them. I couldnt believe it. They also charged me for prescription food that took 8 weeks to come in. I had to call them twice a week to find out the status (never actually getting anyone on the phone, just leaving messages). My dog had been on this food previously from the other state I lived in, and the most I waited for it was a few days. Very disorganized there. They gave me all sorts of excuses, including they forgot to order it. To make matters worse, the treatment for my dogs illness did not work at all. When I came in for a follow up that I requested because she was not getting better, the vet actually said to me she was better. She was not. I had to go to a different veterinary practice. It is also nearly impossible to get them on the phone. I waited 14 minutes on hold only receive a voicemail prompt. This practice may have been good in the past, but they have lost their way. The care at the other practice I am now going to is far superior to Silverado.
Called about having an egg extraction forone of my hens. The person on the line said that they were booked out until next month. I had to say it was an emergency before she would share any information about other vets that take avian emergencies.
Brought bearded dragon on fri. He died sat & now i owe 187.00. W. T. F.

I have been bringing my pets to Silverado Vet for over 20 years and have always been very pleased with their total expertise and professionalism, as well as their empathy for animals.
As longtime clients, SVH was our first Napa Veterinary and our only to this day. Dr. Hess and his staff are the best when it comes to the compassionate care of our fur family. Appointments are never a problem to schedule with the open late hours and wait time is minimal. From vaccines to major surgery, I wouldnt put my trust in anyone else.

I Love my Fur Baby girl Veterinarian Dr. Underhill . She’s very loving and compassionate Dr. she has been my Puppy Vet . Since she was 3 months old . I like the team Dr. Underhill and Tyler . This is a great place to bring your pet !
I would have happily resolved these issues without a negative review, but as the office manager and the vets ignore my calls, it seems that’s not a possibility. When we initially started with Silverado, I was happy with the service, and I still feel satisfied with the doctor who was working with our cat (I can’t remember her name, younger doctor, very knowledgeable). I think the bigger issue is the customer service. The phones are consistently left offline during business hours and when I tried to explain that they were, the staff member was rude and would not listen. This is on the days where you’re not put on hold for 20 minutes or longer. It was happening to me frequently before I changed vets, but I only got frustrated enough to say something once and the response was so rude and dismissive by the staff member that it sent me packing for good.I explained that there were two different menus (one where I was able to reach someone if I selected through the menu and one that essentially said I was outside their business hours and gave me no option to do anything but leave a voicemail). The problem is, I had many days where I would encounter the second message for hours at a time during business hours. On the day I complained it was off from 8AM to 2:30PM. Furthermore, they NEVER return calls, and will actually downright lie and tell you they did and they have it in their file that they called you back within a reasonable amount of time when they do not. They will even tell you they left voicemails when they never contacted you. This happened to me, my husband, and two of our friends who used to go there. No calls in our phone logs, no voicemails but “it’s written in the file you were called on X and a voicemail was left.” Funny how I’ve never had voicemails or calls not go through in any other situation...You might be thinking I’m exaggerating, how much could I really be contacting them? As background, I have four animals, so truthfully, we’d have to try to reach them a lot, which is how I noticed this pattern of communication breakdown. This would lead to situations like us paying hundreds of dollars for tests to be run and not being given results or the opportunity to schedule surgeries for weeks, despite the doctors assuring me things would only take a few days. When I tried to explain the communication problems, I was told there was no office manager and that they were a “very busy hospital” and there was complete gaslighting denying the phone problems and defending the false records. Somehow, as I continued to explain, there suddenly was an office manager who- surprise, surprise- never returned my voicemail. Turns out my dog had cancer, so I’m glad I left and found a place that was able to get us in quickly and without all the run around. There are still doctors I like at Silverado, but they really need to speak to their reception staff about customer service moving forward.
Silverado Veterinary Hospital closes at 8am. At 7:50pm our 12 week old Labrador puppy started showing signs of abdominal distress (yelping when touched). We called and Silverado said it was ok to rush her down. Once we arrived, Dr Hess calmly evaluated her stomach condition and provided fantastic advise on how to monitor her for any complications. Disaster averted and huge gratitude for Dr Hess and Silverado Vet Hospital. They set the benchmark for pet care in Napa Valley!
My dog got fleas from coming here. Will not be taking her here anymore.
Our technician today was Nellie and she was amazingly calm and efficient with my nervous, year old German Shepherd. I appreciated her approach with a difficult patient.
We had to put our 20 year old injured cat to sleep. I regret choosing Silverado vet. Ive had good experiences years ago. Now they are too big and run by if Davis Techs. Pay $ and hire competent staff. Contact me if you want to know what really happened. What happened today was innapropriate.

I walked in with less then 10 minutes till closing with my dog that was not doing well. They were there with her till 11 at night. The staff is phenomenal they took great care of her.
Dr McGrane is the best veterinarian I have I have ever taken my animals to. I have had animals all my life and am grateful to have found her. She is knowledgeable, kind and very caring.
The Drs and Staff has always been amazing. Ive taken my animals to them for over ten years now. They really care about animals and Ive much gratitude for all their care over the years. I highly recommend them. They are worth the cost of visit.
Knowledgeable staff is always comforting and this clinic is full of them : ) Keeping the doors open to 8pm just shows the level of understanding they have for all of us who work to 5 every day. You wont be told to take your dog to another clinic simply because they are closing. A fond memory many years ago..ended up having to pull in extra hours at work. A bit stressed as to what reaction I was going to get..hoping it wasnt annoyed or angry I called. They were so kind. One vet stayed much later even after they closed. I picked up my Basset hound with out so much as a hint of negative or annoyed energy from the vet! Never forgot that day actually! Worth every dime here! : )
I work at Napa State hospital an a few xs mostly young young baby squirrel s .injured raven an crows I have brought to Silverado trail Vet hospital an always eval/ assess their needs an send them to wildlife rehab for recovery an hopefully release. The. Veterinary staff have never turned away any wildlife in need ..grateful for their help

I took my dog here for the first time because she was in distress, it was late in the day, they were open, and just around the corner from me. I consider this a happy accident because they took such good care of her, and me. The people at the front reception desk were kind, and we got in to see the vet very quick. We saw Dr. Juliana Rockwood and she was so kind and knowledgeable and helpful. My dog went home feeling a little relief, and I felt calm & confident. I got a follow up call the next morning from Dr.Rockwood to see how my dog was doing. That was very nice especially because it gave me the opportunity to ask her about a couple of things that I didnt think of the night before because I was so stressed.

Silverado Veterinary Hospital is a place to take your pet if you want to be assured of great treatment. I have been going there for 25 years with my kids both cats and dogs. Our main vet is Mara Blevis and she is a saint with many years of experience and a big heart. And when Mara isnt there due to vacation or time off, we have trusted our kids to every vet there and have been well pleased. The front staff and MAs are excellent as well........very concerned and caring people. Dr Hess runs a great practice and we are blessed to have this hospital in Napa.
We went here on recommendations for our cat and on our first trip, they were friendly and basically up sold us a few shots, steroid and antibiotics, to fix what amounted to a flea issue that the day before we had already started her on Advantage II. Over the next week she began to sneeze, a lot, and a watery discharge started from her eyes as well as being lethargic. We called and got a 12:30 appointment. We showed up and checked in early and were asked to wait outside. At 1:10 wevwere shown to a room. At 1:30 we were finally seen. An hour past our appointment. Perhaps well look elsewhere for a vet. EDIT: They apologized.
Let me start by saying I might be the pickiest person out here when it comes to who sees my animals. We have used Silverado for over 20+ years, The veterinarians my canines see are professional, empathetic and caring.They also take the time to educate me. ( so important ) Jessica and team have a special place in my canines hearts ( nothing like a mani/ pedi) Cant say enough good things about the veteran staff there. Hope to always see Dr Hess, Dr Rockwood and Blevis. Being in the healthcare field myself its so important to have confidence in who you see and that they explain things in detail.
My cat paris has been getting wonderful treatment from Dr. Flowers at Silverado. Paris had suffered from decreased appetite and weight loss which her previous vet could not diagnose. dr. Flower treated her and she has CKD/Renal Failure .Since the the diagnosis and treatment Paris has gained back almost half of what she lost and has a beautiful fur coat now.The entire staff has been wonderful.
They took great care of my beloved dog. I couldnt be happier with Dr. Hess.
