I have had a wonderful experience so far. Everyone has been very kind and helpful. I wish childcare was a bit more frequent..even until just a bit later. Perhaps that would only help me, I’m not sure, but it would be great.
Love this place - since snow birding and then moving to Myrtle Beach, this Y is a huge part of our daily lives. Lots of classes with something for every level of fitness. Clean and organized. Kind supportive staff- including management, front desk and class leaders.
Awful experience. My daughter was signed up for swim lessons. Had one lesson, the instructor cancelled the 2nd lesson and never showed up for the 3rd. We spoke with the manager who was nice and assured us they would take care of it. Never called us back or did anything when asking for a new instructor. Stay away from thier aquatics program.
Super clean facility and very organized as well! Staff is very friendly and helpful and they have great programs for kids!
I was deeply disturbed when I saw a woman jumping in her sportswear and a snicker shoes to the family pool area. I was swimming with my baby there and thinking where else her shoes might have been. One of the aquatic manager was notified by me right away, but she did not make any attempt to contact this lady or ask to step away. Sanitation is need to be worked on at this Y big time, I assume there should be some kind of sanitary/ hygiene standards from SC DHEC. Staff is trying to be nice and make some accommodation for everyone but it is a little to much allowing people swim in clothing.
I joined because I thought they would have a variety of classes for seniors. One very boring water fitness class, poorly taught. One stretch class. Im not renewing my membership. Plus I hate the swim lessons now for hoards of kids.
Huge fan of this place. Very clean facility with tremendous and family friendly staff!
We just moved to Myrtle Beach and can only be happier finding this place. My kiddos absolutely love swimming classes. Its very clean & everyone is super nice
We have been taking out 3 yo to their swim lessons and its been a great experience. Wonderful facility, instructors, and warm enough a pool to make it enjoyable.
Great place for a yoga class. Saturday mens yoga/trx. Registration is limited to 15 students. Growing class.
Best place Ever
Wonderful place to exerciseGreat staff and trainers willing to helpEquipment safe to use, sanitized after every use
Very clean great staff friendly environment
We are coming out of town to workout and we scan in and are told we can’t come in because we are out of town. I call them and ask for a manager and they guy doesn’t pass me over to a manager and tries to answer my question and he never really answered my question. He said we can’t come in because we aren’t from this location but we have a nationwide membership and told we aren’t allowed to come in. He tries to say we are “protecting our guests but y’all are welcome to purchase a membership for the week. Don’t tell me y’all are protecting your members if y’all are just trying to get extra money. Nowhere on the website does it say only location members... nope so therefore y’all suck at communication and are just money hungry. Very disappointed
We love this place, it’s so clean and smells wonderful. The Gym is fully loaded, We saved big on a Gym membership going here. Now my whole family can enjoy the experience ❣️
Will never ever go there again! I enrolled my son and his friend in semi-private swim classes under his mom’s name for 180$. I paid in advance. But her son refused to go, so I wanted them to change it for a private classes. They cost 125$. I tried to get a refund from them for two months! Eventually they issued a credit of 55$ to his mom but not to me, and I just couldn’t use it! Every time I called or came they kept telling me that the lady responsible for issuing refunds is not there. Moreover, after 3 classes my child got sick and we skipped two weeks. I asked them if we should let the coach know about it, but they said it’s ok, don’t worry. So, when we came back the coach said he was excluded from the program. So, I had to enroll him in new group swim classes! The next my mistake was to enroll him to a soccer classes. I paid 99$ in advance for the season. They canceled it due to Covid-19, but I have never had a refund! I don’t know what’s wrong with this place, but I will never ever recommend it to anybody! They are just stealing your money!
Great Job by Erik and Ivy in the Work Out Room
Had someone in town for vacation who wanted to use the facility. They are a member of another YMCA & were told they were not allowed. They wasted money on transportation just to get there to be told they are not allowed. TAKE THE YMCA out of the name if you are not going to allow other YMCA members to partake in what their membership allows, which is access to other facilities around the country. If you are not allowed to use your Y member ship there, then you are NOT the YMCA!
The YMCA is definitely for all. They have a great financial assistance program and THE best program and classes for all ages and abilities. They also have certified HEALTH COACHES, dynamic personal trainers, and Les Mills group exercise classes. Also, you cannot beat the pool, swim lessons and youth sports programs. This Y is changing lives!
I absolutely HATE leaving bad reviews. It makes me feel like I’ve done something wrong but I also like truthful experiences so I’d like to make others aware. We just recently joined the YMCA here in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago. We were looking for our daughter to start swim classes and thought we would try it out. It’s $65 for 8 30 minute classes. We signed up a week late so missed the first class but still paid the $65 for the rest of the 7 classes. When we signed her up, we were told there were 3 instructors with a max of 8 children total! The first two classes seemed to be fine. They went over basic things which seemed normal to me. The third class they said and did the same things so it made my husband and I question if our daughter was learning anything and also this time there were 11 children in the class. The fourth and fifth class there were 12 children!!! My daughter was in the water for 8 minutes out of 30. My husband was upset so we decided we were not going to attend the last two classes. When we made this decision, I called and asked to speak with a manager/director about my concerns and I was transferred back to the directors voicemail. I left a very detailed voicemail just explaining my concerns. I didn’t ask for anything back but a phone call saying that my concerns were at least heard. I feel like we wasted money for my daughter to be exactly where she was when we started. A week later I still have not received a phone call back from the director or anyone. Frustrating and disappointed.
Nice facility, very busy, has lots of classes. Nice swimming pool. They dont participate in YUSA membership.
The pool schedule on the website may say four lanes for lap swim that is often inaccurate. As a person with a physical disability I need swim for rehabilitation.Staff members use the lanes for individual swim lessons or to just walk while members wait for a lane. when the online schedule says there are four lanes for lap swim even two lanes are being used for school children and one for rehab. It would be reasonable to think the online schedule would reflect the actual availability.
The staff are excellent and warm
Very clean with friendly and courteous staff. On vacation. It was nice visiting here for quick workout.
My 17yo, his friend, and my 10yo son went here to play basketball, after being there for 5 minutes they were told to get off the court because it was reserved for another group. Then they asked to get a refund and was told no, due to lack of training and not knowing how to run a credit on their POS system(their taught how to run a sale but not a credit...hmmmmm). This place is a joke, I highly recommend staying away from this place.
If you think you are going to the YMCA you are not. This facility is no longer affiliated with the YMCA and not longer adhere to their mission statement nor standards. They are clueless as how to run a facility as big as this one without the YMCAs help. Example they have church, pickleball, babysitting and basketball in the gym. Nothing wrong with that, but when someone puts tape on the floor and it damages the finish they deny basketball players access to the gym. Hey guys, basketball doesnt need to tape off anything, the lines are already there, hence the name BASKETBALL COURT. Seriously this place has been going down hill for a while, their customer service is worst than Walmarts and the director is a joke. Do yourself a favor and go to the REAL YMCA in Georgetown. 529 Browns Ferry Rd, Georgetown, SC 29440
I consider this to be the most diverse YMCA with loads of exercise classes for all. I go there everyday and when I must miss a day, I feel out of sorts. The very best staff, always pleasant and helpful. ENJOY one and all
This place does not care about the members, staff or community.
Staff is very unpleasant. Pool is not like the other Ys Ive been too. The water is very shallow at one end and to deep at the other for water walking no resistance. The weight room is to crowded with equipment. On a visit to the Y I had to wait to use a machine because people were using them for chairs and chatting. I have been to others Y and this one needs to see what other offer for the same price. This gives YMCAs a bad name.
Joined on July 11,2017, the Staff are great. Enjoying my experience here.
Great cycling class Instructor Denise Lewis is the best. People and staff are very friendly.
The gym it is in great location and they have the best classes in the city....
Pretty small Y, limited weightroom/cardio equipment. Was surprised to be charged $5 even though Im an Away member.
The only YMCA Ive been to yet (among dozens and dozens across at least 9 states) that doesnt honor reciprocal membership.
Joined today and was treated like royalty!! So excited to get started!!
Major ripoff. Cancelled my membership in February and still incurring charges as of July. So much for a Christian organization. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Lady on counter is so mean and rude, I don’t remember her name. Don’t recommend
I will be filing a complaint. I was humiliated and embarrassed by a staff worker. I broke into tears when I left.
Great place for the family.
Cant say about my experience since I did not go. We are members in another state, and got in for free in a different state for 13 visits a year. Here it is $5.00 per visit. Very disappointed.
Friend
Excellent.
One of his employees is absolutely racist, he is always looking for some reason to say something, without just cause, I spoke to one of the workers and apparently they did not give it importance, the older adult man, he has a very bad attitude, I think that a training course Customer service would not be bad for them, I left planet fitness because it is far from my home, but I think I will cancel the YMCA membership and return to planet fitness, where their jobs are the best!
