Always picked up on time, bill has never changed, driver ALWAYS has a smile on his face! If he spills anything he cleans it up. Every Republic employee I have talked with has been super nice. Great customer service. I would give this company 10 stars instead of 5 if I could.
Horrible company to deal with. They are rude, I wish I could post all the communication with one of their reps. Guys stay way from these people very unpleasant and rude. They are refusing to pick up their containers from my property claiming liquidated damages for cancelling the contract for $2134.00 yes that much! We paid on time all the time and now this. We had to get someone else because people break into trier containers throw everything out. They have a locking mechanism but it does not work.
Republic just came to get our neighbors garbage, he stopped at the corner of Algonquin and Manitou Blvd. in Norton Shores, got out of the truck and he threw out 3 blue colored paper towels, and then proceeded to throw a jar of urine on the towels and drove away. I will NEVER use their service! We are not a dumping ground. And yes, I have it on video.
Will just ignore pickups. customer service reps are nice, but have no power to do anything.update: Ive since talked to more people, and they insist its the townships problem. republic have been fine with trash pickups, but since the township handles recycling, Ive gotta go through them. township has since changed pickup days without warning, and claimed its my fault. however, republic services customer reps have told me wrong dates multiple times, and left me in limbo for more than a week despite 6 calls. i cant change my rating in good conscience with this level of miscommunication, although Ill be giving the township 1 star if I can.
I am very unimpressed with their services. Constantly they leave my yard waste on pick up days and pick it up later in the week, sometimes not at all. They missed a pickup for my yard can so I had to use it again the next week. Its been raining as well so the can has gotten heavier. I have called three different times and every time they said theyd be there the next day to pick it up and now they are refusing. They have poor customer service and poor handling of their job performances.
I paid for a full year, to pick up every week. Picked up every month if that. I called every missed pickup, still wouldnt pickup. A total waste of money. My last scheduled pickup, the driver took all the contents out of the can and ripped the bags and spread all over my front yard. I had him on surveillance video doing it. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.
We have had continued issues with this service. In the beginning, they would cancel a pickup due to missed payment when the payment had actually been made. We then set up auto payments to relieve the issue and figured there wouldn’t be any further issues. Well I was wrong! They failed to notify us that they changed the pickup day. When I called to tell them about the missed day they said there had been a change and if I wanted to have extra trash picked up the next week they’d charge me $4 for extra trash removal. I should not be charged for them failing to notify me of a changed day. They said they had mailed a letter and called. I never received a call or voicemail and never received a letter in the mail. I never thought I’d have so many problems with a trash removal company. It’s ridiculous. I will be changing services promptly.
The people who answer are polite, but signing up for automatic payments is a joke. I signed up twice and both times I had issues with it not taking the payments. I do not even get bills in the mail anymore I just have to randomly call and see if the bill is ready and pay over the phone. They always apologize and say they dont know why its happening but nothing gets fixed.
15 years of overcharged and underserviced. Go with any other company. I didnt have a choice and the price got up to $145 per quarter! Any other company charges $50. They charged me to cancel another $83.25 to cancel!
Did not pick up garbage when scheduled / changed pickup date without notice/ Took garbage can “ on accident “ replaced it with shorter receptacle/ when I called to cancel on the first day of the month they informed me that their internal policy is to not cancel until the end of the month so they will continue to charge me until then, had to argue with 4 people to get that undone. Then they charged me 30 dollars to come get the receptacle. Getting your trash picked up that you pay someone to pick up shouldn’t be that hard. And you will not get beyond the wall of CSRs these people have to deal with you.
Ordered a extra recycle bin back in December I paid 36 bucks over the phone there was nothing about a delivery fee or anything like that they told me it was $36 for the year fast forward to this month I get a discontinuation email because they need $36 for delivering my recycle bin which was never told to me over the phone back when I ordered it or I would’ve paid for it back in December they charge for the service and for the delivery smh makes no sense why bill me later and you could have gotten it all before irritating
After reading reviews and noticing a lot of people had the same problem as me I wish I wouldve looked at reviews sooner. Like so many other people on here my bill doubled in the 2 years i had service with them. I just got done with an online chat, the representative told me that rate fluctuation is normal just like any other utility company and that im in a free market area so rates will vary every quarter...then abruptly ended the chat. made no attempts at solving the issue or keeping me on as a customer, just a well thats how it is mentality. Dont be fooled by the initial rate they quote you, it might be a few dollars cheaper now but when they feel youre not looking those rates will start slowly climbing over time.
I canceled service after 3 years of raising our rates. Now I cant get them to take their cans off my property
I rented a dumpster for a remodle project (redoing the bathroom, not a large room) Was quoted and charged 338.55 for the dumpster. Was absolutely a reasonable price. The job was completed the dumpster was picked up two weeks after the date they were supposed to pick it up (when I called they came and picked it up)A month later I received a bill for 419.67, evidently it was for container pick up, the materials and the service to so. It was never explained in the renting of the dumpster that the original price did not include the above. I personally think that it was very unprofessional to not make it clear when you inquire about the rental and price. This is to just let people know to look around, $800 dollars for a dumpster that was average size is expensive. There are more reasonable prices and companys out there. Take the time to look around and learn from my mistake.
Leaves you on hold forever and then guilts you for cancelling service. Theyre not the cheapest. Theyre not the best. I dont know why anyone with an option chooses this company.
VERY inconsistent trash removal! Last week they took everything by the road, this time they wouldnt even take the extra trash bag by my can?! I called and she just said that maybe the other guy was just being nice. Also, my bill doubled for no reason. Will be switching to a more reliable company if they dont pick up my trash every week.
Republic Services is very unprofessional we are a distressed city trying to clean up and these jerks are not doing there job, I went to the City of Muskegon Heights commission meeting to either fix this problem or fire them immediately again
I have used this company for almost7 years and I have had great service. Only 1 time My garbage wasn’t picked up. I called and the came right out and picked it up.
Total scam. They were charging me and all new customers in my area 132$ 😱. But my neighbors only paid between $30-$90. After much hunting I found a better more reasonable service that charges a flat $50 without all the silly fees that Republic tacks onto your bill. AVOID this company they are scam artists.
I was a customer from 2006 - 2019. The prices at first were reasonable then I think greed took over and lazy drivers. I got tired of the extreme price hikes and picking up trash from my driveway and road side after the trash was picked up. I switched and saved $40.00 every 3 months. The real kicker is they charge $40.16 to pickup the can. They got me once never again.
I will be brief. My bill $140. My neighbors bill was $54. Customer service states your bill is high because you have been a long time customer. They were correct over the years they increased my bill slightly, my reward for being a loyal customer.
Missed pickup on Tuesday, used the app tuesday, wednesday to report the missed pickup nothing. Called Thursday talked to Ashley was assured it would get picked up on Thursday, still there. Called Friday talked to Theresa, again told it would be escalated and picked up almost 6pm on Friday still no pickup. Use any other service you have access to. Waste Management, PotLuck, Suncoast, anyone other than Republic. My neighbors have complained and now the township is demanding I remove my cans till next week. Probably wont pick up next week either. Ill remove this post if they ever show up
Thanks for eliminating your recycling drop off in Muskegon... If I drive to Holland (as your company suggests) it eliminates the purpose of recycling. Go burn 5 gallons of gas every time I want to Recycle, great plan....
Had A-waste for my services for years. A-waste got bought out by Republic a couple months ago. Cancelled my services because I was moving in with my elderly mother who also has Republic because she had A-waste. When I talked to the lady when I cancelled she said we were all set. Get an invoice for 60.00. Called them Kenyata answered and stated it was a rental removal pickup container fee. I said 60.00 to pick up a can?? She asked how many containers I had. I said 1. She said oh then we will only charge you 30.00 since you had 1 can. I said I dont have a contract with you I shouldnt be paying anything for you to pick up a can. She stated I had to pay the fee. Why should I have to pay a fee that I never had with A-waste! If I could have given a 0 rating I would!
Do NOT use this company. They dont even deserve 1 star. They gradually increased my bill from $50ish per quarter to $140 per quarter and did the same thing to my parents. When we called to cancel service they didnt have an explanation for the increase for either of us.
This company SUCKS!!! Been with them 15 years and every year they increase my bill. This month they increased their administrative fee to $5.25 up from $3.25. When I called to complain about my bill going up $13 since December. They said they would give me a flat rate for 1 year if I would stay with them. But after the year is up I would have to call again to try to get a cheaper rate. Total BS!! I was never notified about the administrative fee going up. When questioned about why I never received a notice the fee was going up she said oh you wouldnt have. Why the hell not, they give NO explanation why theyre increasing their fees. I called today to cancel my service. Found a place that is $15 cheaper every 3 months. I have notified all family and friends and told them whats happening and that they should cancel immediately. Most said it happened to them also. STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS CORRUPT COMPANY. I wish you could leave minus star reviews as theyd get -100
Did business with this company for 7 years, and struggled the the last 2. Every billing period, my bill would go up. When I called to ask about the increase, I was told that it was because diesel went up. I would point out that diesel actually went down quite a few times, and wondered why they never decreased my bill. They said that they dont set the pricing, only read what their computer tells them.After threatening to leave, they did lower my bill back to my original $30, but it went up again the next billing period. Other trash pickup was $35 with no hidden fees called republic to cancel service and was told Tha there would be a $30 can pickup fee. Told them I wasnt paying that and wanted it waived, and was told they could not waive it. I asked where I culd drop it off myself, as the center is 10 minutes from where I live, and was told I could do that, but could not be told where or when, to drop it off.I ended up leaving it in front of their Main office door for them and took pics expecting them to say that they didnt get it.Stay away from these crooks.
Have had this company for many years. Put out a few small pieces of paneling and they left them lay on the ground. They said they consider that building material and would not take it. After 20+years of service I am very disappointed. I told them I wanted to cancel and go with another company and they told me I couldn’t cancel until the end of the month and they were going to charge me an additional $25.00 to come and pick up their trash can. Unbelievable!!
Cancelled service for my community. Recieved letter four days before they stopped. Granted I already payed ahead for the next two and a half months. Money has been taken out of my account that I have had refunded. Then I received another invoice! I wish I could give less than 1 star! Another example of corporate greed!
Moved to Muskegon from Evanston IL made the the mistake of not looking around before signing with these theives!! First of all they overcharge you $30 by delivering the can and also charge you an administrative and fuel/environmental fees around $30 every 3 months, I dont feel that I should pay for the secretarys stealing pens & paper or their trucks gas I have my own car to put gas in I cant afford to pay for them too. Found a place where recycling is free and trash pick up is one cost and NOTHING more. So make sure you shop around before paying an arm & a leg

Nickle and dimes.... they charge to pick up containers when you cancel your service, also I have to call them to make sure they refund my money and then wait 4 Weeks to get a check in the mail! I reside in Norton Shores and this is the worst experience I have ever had with a garbage service. Prior to this I never realized how much I took garbage services for granted. In the first few months my garbage pick-up was hit or miss. I had to call at least 4 times due to no one showing up to pick-up. When I called they could not guarantee when they could pick it up; it typically was at least 2 days later. We were finally able to get this resolved when they began requiring their driver to call in and confirm they had picked-up my garbage with a supervisor every week. To me this seems pretty inefficient and they should focus on correcting the root problem.The last straw was when they suddenly quite picking up my recycling. By now this was my 5th time having to call and it was almost comical. I am not certain if this sketchy service is for all customers or if Norton Shores is out of their normal route but would not recommend any Norton Shores residence using this service.

Awful customer service. Always on hold for a minimum of 15 minutes when calling them and they always try to push you off to the next person. Do not use them if you have a choice
