I love everyone at Pure Hockey! I’m an older guy living out a childhood fantasy and have no business on the ice. I was self conscious going to a place like Pure Hockey, but they were all so welcoming and encouraging and got me everything I needed. They have all been extremely friendly and helpful.
Kind of a cold experience. Cool store, has the stuff, but the guy I worked with couldnt have cared less about me or my son. I stopped past to grab a hockey helmet ahead of my sons first exposure to ice hockey later that day. When I asked the employee if he could help me find a helmet for my 9-year-old son he said bring his head in. I explained that we live an hour away and I am swinging past on my way home to get him a helmet he needed later that night, and added if it doesnt fit right Ill order him another one. He said, he could be any of these helmets, even if youve measured his head I cant help you unless you bring him in. I asked if he could point me in the right direction of where he would start, and he said youth helmets on that wall bigger ones over here. No way to guess what size he might be. Some quick googling on the Bauer website helped me select a size small, and it fits him great. Cool we have a hockey store here in Salt Lake, but I was a bit taken back by the brash help. Ill do my best to order online in the future.
Short background: I’m a novice player and asking about hockey advice can be intimidating at times. I walked in yesterday looking for new skates and a stick. Chayce offered to help me and was OUTSTANDING . He walked me through different styles and helped me get fitted for the right skate. I couldn’t believe it when he told me it was only his 4th shift at the store. I am beyond happy with the level of service and friendliness Chayce provided and will be happy to come back for anything hockey related.
Service was great, got my skates baked and sharpened in under 20 min. Staff was really knowledgeable.
Best skate fitting Ive ever had. All Pure employees are amazing. Custom Skates baby.
I guess I might be spoiled by the small run hockey shop in Vegas, but the customer service was less than desirable here. We are in town for a hockey camp for my kiddo who of course lost/broke gear while we were here so we had to come visit this store multiple times. Im disappointed to say the least with the level of care the employees showed that we were in the building. There was a hey each time we came in, but no effort to move toward us, or even help us when we were struggling with sizes on both a helmet or elbow pads. We would ask what size they thought was needed and they would just point to the 2 walls as he was in between sizes. Gee, thanks. Makes me not want to buy anything from not just the store, but online as well. So disappointed. I cant wait to go back to the Penalty Box in Vegas so I can actually get what I need and the help I need.
Reid has this place running like a hockey shop that will serve as the heart of the Utah hockey community. Great shop!
Nice to have a store front to get the hockey gear you need, online shopping is convenient, but sometimes you need to get your hands on your gear to try before making a purchase. Pure Hockey Staff was friendly, they had a good variety and supply for adults kids roller section could be better.
Nice people, well run. Bauer dealer.
Great selection service. Will order anything off online and save you shipping. Good guys
Super Good great Helmets
This store is such a joke, these guys are a joke. We come in very regularly and they have such terrible attitudes towards customers. We ask for our skates to get sharpened and they act so put out like they are doing us a favor, most of the time they make up excuses as to why they can’t sharpen them even when we are the only customers in the store. This place needs to get it under control
I came in to get my pad repaired and browse for myself and look for Christmas gifts. I found some baselayers that I was interested in. I asked if I could try them on and was told no. I asked what if they dont fit and was told I can return them if they didnt. I live over an hour away from the store and dont come by as frequent as maybe some other customers. The gentleman told me oh well. I ended up trying them on the bathroom. They ended up fitting and I decided I was going to purchase them. I was then scolded by two different workers for trying them on and then was told that I have to buy the baselayers. After their rude attitude, I decided I dont want to give this store anymore money and left instead. I spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on equipment at this store and I dont expect to receive any special treatment, but its illogical to buy something not knowing if they fit and have to drive 90 minutes to make a return. I wont ever come back to the store and will take my business elsewhere. In the past, Ive been helped by Reid and hes been such a great help getting me fitted with gear. However, hes the only person I would ever consider doing business with as the other employees are very rude and dont seem to care about customer relationships and business.
Im a goalie and I called ahead to the store to see if they had ccm pads for me. Unfortunately they didnt but the store manager, Reid, who is also a goalie offered to get me sized since I am getting not only a different brand pads but also a size up. He was so much help, I got a helmet, stick, and pants which I also needed. Reid helped me find the pads I wanted on sideline swap. He has been an amazing help for this and I definitely give him a 10/10 review without a doubt.
I had THE best customer experience yesterday at Pure Hockey! My son is new to this sport, so I was not educated on the pros and cons of pads and equipment. Logan spent time educating, having my son try everything on to get the right fit and looked for online discounts on gear that was last years model to save us some money. They didn’t have every size we needed in stock, so they will ship everything at no additional cost to our house. Worth the two hour drive each way! Pure awesome!!
I needed some goalie gear for my son who needs it for an upcoming tournament and even though they did not have the gear in stock they were able to get it shipped for free and took good care of us. Thanks guys!
Have been into this store and paid a bit each time since going. Went in yesterday with a pair of skates I didn’t even buy from them and they baked them for free. These are great guys to work with. Always willing to answer any questions. They informed me last week on stick promotions and where to look for a certain price range. Thanks for the help guys. I’ll be back for sure!
I stopped here to buy my first pair of hockey skates and the staff was amazing. The manager helped me out and got excited when I told him it was my first pair. He helped me find a pair that fit well even though I needed a special size and he was very respectful of the budget that I set for the skates. Then he went on to tell me proper care, and how and where to practice. It was a great experience.
I decided to get back into Hockey after 15 years. I went to Pure Hockey to get the basics so I can fool around at a few stick and puck sessions before embarrassing myself at a pick game. Reed was extremely helpful. He helped me understand the different options of skates. He did not try to sell me anything I didnt need. He was even familiar with all of the local pickup games schedules and told me where to start to get my feet wet. I will be a loyal customer.
The people here understand the definition of “customer service.” I came in looking for bearings for in-line skate wheels. I only needed two because they were for my suitcase and not skates. I knew I would have to buy a whole package of eight, and I was willing to do so. But, one of the employees said he had to cannibalize a pair of skates anyway and I could just have two of the bearings from them. He even put the bearings in my wheels for me. When I asked how much I owed, he said “no charge.” WOW! My faith in humanity is restored! Thank You!
Visiting from Oregon and never having been truly “fitted” for skates Kevin and Cooper spent as much time and effort as necessary to make sure I got the best skate for my feet. Incredible experience with well educated and knowledgeable professionals! Thanks guys!
It has anything you need for hockey and great workers
The staff is hit and miss. Great place to fit your young hockey players and than buy online. If the teens are not there its a good experience. Wouldnt get my skates sharpened there. Not sure if the kids know what they are doing....
Im there right now with my cousin Travis buying some new ice hockey skates. Its great there at Pure Hockey and Im very happy about the time I spent there.
Came in to look at and purchase a pair of skates. Told the kid at the door as such he pointed me to the skates. Once there I was completely ignored, another customer came in and was helped with skates instantly, I asked for help from the associate helping the newest customer and was told he was already busy. Then the kid from the door walked by I waved at him and he walked right past me. When I left made a loud comment to the person I was with well if I cant get help Ill just leave. The two people at the sharpening station then told me to have a nice day.One of the only hockey focused stores in town and you cant be bothered to grab a pair of skates to let someone try them on? Ill take my business to cottonwood hockey from now on.
They had the street hockey gear we were looking for that other Big Box stores did not.
I like this place. Havent been there in a while, but its a great place to get just hockey gear. The staff was super nice, they have decent prices and a good selection!
Great employees!! Super helpful. Ordered skates for my 16 year old on the internet. They didnt fit, and it cost 30 bucks to send them back. The employees helped fit him perfectly, let him try on like 5 pairs of skates, and even though we were probably annoying, the guy helping did it with a smile. Seriously great place in my opinion.
Loved this place when it was total hockey. Customer service has suffered since the transition to pure hockey and the rewards program is basically worthless for your average hockey player now. Sad to see free sharpening incentive go away. It was a good reason to go in and my friend and I would usually end up spending $50+ while waiting. Still a decent place to get gear locally if you cant wait to get it online.
Never going here again to get my skates sharpened. After getting them sharpened my first time on the ice, my left skate had no inside edge, so I kept slipping out. So today I took them to the rink to see if they could help me. The guy I was talking to was telling me that it looks like my left skate didnt have any inside or outside edge, and the right skate didnt look like it was even sharpened.
Sharpened my skates here a few weeks ago, and they work perfect! They have all your hockey needs. Good priced hockey sticks too👌
Customer service is awesome!
Great staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Great place for Hockey in Utah. Only complaint is is their skate sharpening. I have had my skates sharpen there at least 10 times. It is a real hit or miss there with good sharpenings. I bought some skates the other night and watched a guy sharpen them. Well I get on the ice and I couldn’t stand. After the game I looked at the blade, you could see where he missed and these were not small misses I had no inside edge on my left skate and no outside edge on my right skate. Great place for gear but they need to work on the sharpening.
Our cashier was so helpful and patient with us. Made for a great Christmas Eve experience. Thank you so much, we will be coming back.
I went in with my 6 year old to buy hockey gear. We received the best customer service! All the associates were absolutely amazing with him. They took the extra time to make sure he was getting the proper equipment and also helped get me the best prices. We have purchased things from them before and received the same treatment! I highly recommend them!!!!
Been a fan since they moved into this spot. Not a lot of places dedicated to hockey out here in SLC. Great staff that are very knowledgeable and are more than willing to help get you or your kids outfitted properly. Prices are competitive with the big box places but definitely better quality.
Always a nice and helpful staff
Went here to get fitted for new skates. I was helped immediately by Spencer and quickly found the right skates at the right price point. Excellent service and selection.
This shop has changed ownership more times than I can count, but since becoming Pure the selection of sticks and such has been much better. The only drawback is some times the kids sharpening your skates can be so-so, but I suppose that’s part of the learning curve.
I paid $500 for skates.. the blade cracked at practice. No big deal. I’m understanding and patient and I actually gave this store 5 stars back in the summer. But when I took my cracked blades back for warranty in December, Jim, the manager, promised to upgrade my blades and order LS5 blades for me, for no charge. I was excited and happy about it.But when I went to get the new blades a week later, they were NOT upgraded blades, and he informed me that they don’t make them for my size of skate. Why would he promise an upgrade and then order something different? When I left though, I looked online and discovered that they totally DO make them for my size! He had every ability to order them, but he didn’t.I spent so many trips, back and forth to this store, and on one of the visits, I heard him tell his worker, “Forget about skate sharpening for the next hour”... as I was standing there waiting for my skates to get sharpened! I didn’t really want to stand around for an extra hour waiting for a service that should take 10 minutes or less.I also bought a stick for $220.. I spend money there all year. They should have done better with this situation, because they lost my business.I’ve had enough of this place and their shenanigans. I got what I needed at the Cottonwood Hockey store today. Cottonwood Hockey is not as fancy or big, but the service was great, the guys were nice and were not too busy to help me, the price was right and they had what I needed.
Very kind and helpful staff, alas, they have stopped carrying goalie gear of all kinds as of 3/19/2019. Disappointing because we came in intending to spend about $3k on new goalie gear. Will just have to purchase online and hope it fits okay. :(
Amazing hockey store all my equipment is from pure hockey and it was a great choise.
Best hockey supply store i get all my stuff here
Have purchased 4 pairs of hockey skates, in the past great service. This time the lady that helped us was not as knowledgeable or as attentive as in the past. Really hope it was an exception and doesnt reflect a change in their attitude towards customer service
Good staff but skate sharpening is very horrible 9 out of 10 times they mess it up. Not any inside edge on one skate then no outside or inside edge on other.
The staff is awesome. They know what theyre talking about and help you find everything you need even if you dont end up buying through them. Great selection of skates and gear and their warranty is quite a bit better than anywhere around.
Great customer service! Took as long as I needed to make me feel comfortable making decisions and getting educated. Darren the manager is especially great.
Great place to spend a lot of money quickly, they also have everything you need.
After getting my skates sharpened I was told they no longer honor the prepaid skate sharpenings on my account and charged me the $7.50. I had at least 7 or more sharpenings left so I’m glad that money is gone I guess...
Very fast at sharpening our skates.... good price too.
Though these guys do have a large selection and USED TO (note the past tense) be helpful, I fear they have grown too big and beyond caring. If you go, you will wait forever to get help, and then only with the feeling that you are a major inconvenience or you’ll be met with condescending remarks for not knowing all the nuances of hockey equipment.Instead, go to Cottonwood Hockey Shop at, 2594 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. Same know-how and same equipment as the guys at Pure Hockey and these guys will work WITH you to get you the right equipment and the right price. As an example, the teenage salesperson we waited a half hour to see at Pure Hockey for my son’s beginning skates response to not having skates that would fit was to make us pay in advance to order skates that may or may not fit. If they didn’t fit then he would have to live with it. Our experience with the guy at Cottomwood Hockey was the opposite.
Decent hockey shop. Finally got rid of all the other junk. Sharpening is hit and miss so beware.
I would still go to this place even if it werent the only option for hockey year in a 50 mile radius. Nice people, good selection of gear. Best skate sharpening around.
Awesome atmosphere check it out!
They have a large selection of hockey gear and the people were nice. Had skates sharpened and they looked perfect.
Best and only hockey shop in town helpful and not pushy.
Fantastic service! Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Will is amazing, what an awesome employee!
Jim at Pure Hockey is fricken awesome. We drove down here from Boise and Jim helped us for two hours. My son was indecisive and Jim walked him through making the perfect choice for his skates. I definately reccomend for all of your high hockey needs.
Phenomenal staff that works hard to answer all questions and give genuine help for the person rather than trying to up charge and sell. They want their isomers to love the sport as much as they do.
They have a good selection of hockey gear and they sharpen skates as well
We buy a lot of our hockey gear here. The staff is always helpful and friendly.
Amazing store they helped me find the right size
Jim and staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of gear inventory to choose from as well as loads of parts and paraphernalia.
Friendly helpful staff.
The staff is always friendly and helpful even when theyre super busy. My only wish is that they would get a little more goalie equipment.
Theyre the only place Ill let touch my skates. Super helpful with gear recommendations. Ask for Darren.
Good help from friendly staff. Lots of good quality hockey gear.
Very helpful. I like the new layout of the store.
Great place to get my hockey gear. Great employees!
They do have everything you need for hockey but it is pricey. I wish there was more clearance items or sales.
Bought some skates for my son today, they were very helpful with finding and fitting.
It was pretty fun.
Good gear selection, helpful staff
Competitive prices, great shop.
Nice cute girls with huge boobies
Whats not to love about a hockey store?! I only wish they had a location closer to me!
Kid was watching TV while sharpening skates and did a very poor job. Everytime I come into this store I leave disappointed and frustrated.
Good service
This is the place for Ice hockey! Also they always are available for skate sharpening. We have often stopped on our way to practice (of which I dont suggest) 😀 and the staff have always been acco mting
Awesome customer service!
All your hockey needs
Love this place, they have great staff!
Expensive but good products
Only hockey store, staff knowledgeable and helpful
Great Hockey Equipment
Good hockey store
Great merchandise but uninterested staff
Not busy
Had a few great experiences here. The manager, Logan and the rest of the staff are dedicated to getting you the right fit and function to maximize your performance and comfort. Even for a total novice such as myself. They also don’t seem to push up sales. Knowing that you have a knowledgeable and helpful staff getting you on the ice with the RIGHT gear is invaluable.
Great advice from a pro. Machine that gives the models of skates the most adapted but the information of the salesman is of quality with products which are worth financially.
