I got injured while traveling and had to stay at a motel for a couple days. This restaurant was conveniently located in the parking lot. It does say that baked potatoes arent available till 5. Well Im warning you, dont ask for mashed potatoes before 5 either. They will VERY rudely tell you they arent available till 5. I dont know why they couldnt put that on the menu. Horribly rude to customers. Only ate here because I had no other choice. Avoid it!!

Not amazing but not horrid either. Pricing pretty much matches what you get. The owner works hard to keep customers happy and decent food. Most of the waitstaff is very friendly as well.

Have eaten here before and years ago it used to be really good food. Lately the food hasnt been great. Im not sure if there is a new owner or what happened but its definitely gone down in quality. Recently my family has tried to go to eat here for 2 weeks in a row and both times when we went in we were asked if we had reservations. We said that we didnt because Everytime we tried calling no one answers the phone. The man behind the counter was incredibly rude and said that they dont have time to answer the phone. Well then how are people suppose to make reservations if you dont answer? I think it will be a long time before we try going here again....if at all!

Im just gonna keep this review the same way our waitress served us. Short, simple, not sweet.The wife and I came for dinner one night due to it being recommended by locals.Chocolate milkshake was great.Her Reuben was great as well.My teriyaki tenderloin tips tasted like they were not marinated or seasons and might as well been chewing on a seat belt.Waitress never gave us the bread that was suppose to be included, which I didnt mind. If it was anything like the steak tips, I wanted nothing to do with it.Lastly, got a slice of cheese cake to go. Didnt really think you could mess that one up, right?WRONGThe cheese cake was really a dense white cake with raspberry filling, and che top layer of frosting was a cheese Danish filling.To sum it up, I paid $86 hard earned dollars for a good Reuben, good milkshake, flip flop textured tenderloin tips, and a science experiment slice of cheesecake.Dodge this, save the money, get a little gas, and drive to an applebees.

Went here last year and it was great. This year not so much. Take out only for out of state even with vaccinations. Biscuit and gravy really poor quality. Service lady rude and they add 15% for gratuity to your take out order when you arrive to pick it up. They do not tell you this when you place the order. It feels kinda dishonest to me. Gave the second star because the pancakes and the bacon were good.

On a weekend vacation with my husband, 2yr old, and 7 yr old to Smuggs. Stopped at Charlmont for breakfast on our way home. The owner refused to to serve us inside because we were from out of state. We ate out all weekend no problems. We’ve played by all the rules during the pandemic (YES we are both vaccinated and wear masks everywhere.) we ate outside because our 7 year was so hungry he was in tears. Both of our children were freezing as the sky was back ready to storm and the wind was blowing everything off the table and picking up the umbrella. We chose to humble ourselves because our children needed food and accept the severe discrimination that happened. The wait staff was lovey and felt very uncomfortable passing the message along because owner didn’t have the guts to come out of the kitchen and talk to us for them! A good (but hard) life lesson for my son as he was begging for us to eat inside and we had to tell him we weren’t allowed. We have taught him to love all... Now he’s learned what it feels like when others don’t.

Very good food and nice service but horribly slow. If your willing to wait and hour for your food, then its good. But if your in a rush then not your place.

Went there for mothers day dinner. Got deli turkey and cold serving. Been there before and liked it. Not this time!

Here on business from Maine with co-worker from NH. We entered fully masked and were immediately asked if we had quarantined 14 days. When we said no we were asked if we were vaccinated and were asked to show our vaccine cards. As I am not considered fully vaccinated yet they refused to seat us. First time I have ever felt discriminated against.

I would like to give zero stars, after not being allowed in even with the entire party receiving the vaccine. It was easy to order over the phone, but when the food was picked up inside, a phonecall brought an actual scoff from the woman with her mask pulled down behind the counter so the phone was clearly not answered easily. I will say the one star is fine because the bacon and pancakes were ok, but the sausage and gravy were microwaved. Add the required 15% gratuity for take out, and I say the zero star review works out well.

First time we (my gf and I) visited, staff was polite though service was a bit slow. Chalk it up to Covid. Food was basic breakfast fair and was good. Second time we visited we were the only 2 in the restaurant. We were treated rudely by the owner. The food was mediocre at best and was slower than ought to be considering there was nobody else. Our waitress was super nice and bubbly but we noticed the owner and her coworker treated her very poorly. She is too good for this place and her co-workers. This was enough to turn us off a return visit. Food could be better. Staff and owner are rude. Take your business elsewhere.

Excellent food! Burger was cooked exactly as ordered and arrived promptly even though we were in a group of 30 + people! Wait staff did a great job of being attentive to our very large group and made everyone feel very welcome. Definitely a great spot to meet up with friends... Even if you show up with a lot of friends!!!

Good food. The place is dated, but nostalgic like. Classic breakfast foods, fast service. Seemed a bit rushed in bringing me the bill and then just standing there waiting for me to pay...I just wanted to finish my coffee...but no big deal. Will be back tomorrow.

My family and friends used to eat at this restaurant frequently. I stress used. After last nights experience, we will never eat there again. Due to the pandemic, reservations are required. We made a reservation and showed up about 5 or 6 minutes late, due to traffic issues. When we arrived, the parking lot had 2 cars in it. When we walked inside, there was 1, Yes 1 table wth customers sitting at it. The owner/manager (Steve Benson), could not wait to attack us about being late. He has to be the rudest person I have ever encountered in any restaurant, ever. I can understand talking to your customers about being late if they were holding a table for you and there were other people waiting. This place was dead and during the whole time we were there only 2 other couples were seated. He knew we were upset and then proceded to stand behind the counter and stare at us. It seems to me that during a pandemic when your restaurant has been shutdown for a while and finally gets to open back up, you would be a little nicer to paying customers. I took a minute while I was here to read reviews about this establishment and was shocked at how many people complained about his attitude. It`s amazing this guy has any business at all. The only good thing about this place is, the waitresses are very nice. They deserve to work for someone better.

Decent diner. I liked their background music a lot, they played super oldies music from the 50s. Menu was mostly sandwiches and pasta options prices around $9-17. They also had a seafood stew special that sounded good. The staff was very friendly. And there is plenty of parking.

The food was terrible. Paid $60 for 2 over cooked burgers on soagy bread, grease soaked French fries. The onion rings were inedible, dry, hard and chewy. Mozzarella sticks were just so wrong on so many levels. Will never revisit.

I have visited the restaurant for breakfast meetings, work gatherings and a retirement party. I have always found them to provide very good service, friendly atmosphere and good food. When traveling through this area, the Charlmont is a good, reliable place to eat.

Staying in the hotel next door so gave it a try. Very good food, service and atmosphere! Prices are good as well! Salad bar was good but could have some more veggies, (peas, squash (zucchini & summer), and maybe some black beans, less salads such as potatoes and pasta. The kidney beans were in a white sauce, as well as the peas... Js

Had the best Sunday morning breakfast ever! The coffee was nice and fresh! My 3 egg omelette was to die for! It came with the best hash browns ever and very tasty home made wheat toast!!! The price was great! I was so full when I left! Can’t wait to come back again! The cooks are amazing!

Good food,friendly family atmosphere

I will start by saying that a group of eight of us that were snowmobiling today and stopped in for lunch and were met by a gentleman that immediately told us we had to put our jackets in a coat closet and the sat us in the back room all by ourselves and at two small tables so three of us sat at another table so we could at least not be rubbing elbows sine the place was empty. Same gentlemen made a comment that we would have to move if more people came in As we were leaving another group of people sat down and all had their jackets with them. While on vacation we stopped to grab lunch and couldnt believe how amazing this place was! The restaurant was more than accommodating when it came to my daughters food allergies. They made sure everything was soy and barley free for her and they even went as far as bringing the bread out (without me asking) so I could double check the ingredients. Thank you for an amazing experience!!

Appetizers were tasty; stuffed mushrooms and fried pickles. Then my boyfriend was served a raw burger where you could see it was raw on the outside. We will not be going back.

Was ok, average customer age is mid sixties, so a bit of an older crowd. They should take pub out of the name as well, since other than being American Pub Food, it is far from a pub. Has more of a nursing home estetic than a pub. 50s music probably didnt help. In the heart of the modern American brewing revolution, you would expect a pub to have beer, especially the myriad of great local options.They have staples such Burgers, Buffalo Wraps, other Sandwiches as well as a few pasta dishes and seafood. Hand cut fries were good, Turkey club was as expected.

The food was nasty!!! Our waitress was very nice but forgot about us after delivering the food. This visit was us giving it a second chance after our last horrible meal. Not going back. I see good reviews and am guessing that maybe we keep getting the wrong chef!!

The quality was the absolute lowest it could be and get by inspections. Everything is heated up from frozen, pre-packaged food that you could easily do at home. The prices on the menu dont make sense. Eggs Benedict is $14 and the only difference between it and the breakfast sandwich ($4.95) is that the eggs are poached (probably in a microwave) and hollandaise sauce ($.79 packet from the store). If you get the Egg Plus it comes only with toast or biscuit instead of on a English muffin and is $5.95. I hope the owner pays the staff well with all the money he is saving. The green peppers in my omelet looked like they had been in a jar for years. Cheese wasnt included in my omelet but I got 1 slice in my 3 egg omelet for $.50. That was so rubbery it was probably microwaved as well. I dont blame the staff for anything. Im sure they do theyre best. They were honest at least.
