We rented tables, chairs, deluxe outhouse, snow cone machine, and popcorn machine for an outdoor birthday party. Most everything was in decent condition with the exception of the snow cone machine. I recommend staying away from the snow cone machine in the summer months. It will not work properly on hot days (confirmed by staff after the fact) as it doesnt produce the ice needed for the cup. Everything else was fine.

It would be helpful if they showed you how, and the way the machine works, helpful advice...I did have a good experience with the two floor sanders I used. Easy in easy out. GOOD PEOPLE.

Rented a slit seeder from them and a trailer. When I first called they got me booked in no time and was happy to explain the process once I said I was a new customer. Once I got there they loaded me up and helped hook up the trailer in minutes even though they were very busy Friday morning. When we got back they came right over to help unload after helping load another vehicle. I will be renting from them again. Side note they have some nice sturdy trailers.

Great place for most things we use for work.

I ordered a tent, tent setup and takedown, tables, table cloths, chairs, and delivery for my wedding. Everything showed up on time. We asked them to not setup the tent, given that the yard was pretty soaked from the prior nights rain and it turned out to be a nice sunny day. They followed this instruction.Other than some table cloths that my family found esthetically displeasing while setting up (elastic variety for tall cocktail tables), everything was as expected. In addition, and importantly, they refunded my payment for the tent setup and takedown before I even asked. Now thats pretty darn honest. Give em a try!

Rented a trailer here and the associate Megan that helped me over the phone was so great. She helped me figure out how much extra time I needed and made sure my pontoon would fit. Everything worked out perfectly and the people working in the office and yard that day were super helpful and nice also.

They had just what I needed and avail now .they were helpful and did not stick it to me when I returned it broken . They are good people with kind and generous hearts. I will always recommend refer them and use them in the future .

Not happy. No help no one to tell me how to work a rented machine. Managers reasoning was that he has kids working in the lot. Machine did not work. I left a message a hour after I left with the machine stating that it does not work and would be returing as soon as they reopened. Still got full charged. Said that it worked for them. (After 4 guys worked on it.) will not return and Im really disappointed in a small town business. No customer service or help.

Dave and his team here at General Renal Center have helped me out on numerous occasions and always with great service and communication! They have so many items to choose from and the pricing is very fair compared to the competition. Staff inside and outside were great the rental process was clean. They are busy on Saturdays. It was my first renting from them and I think it went great.

I read reviews and dont write them until this one. If the green tag on the piece of equipment says Ready to Rent would that tag indicate everything was checked over and in working order prior to the tag being installed? The equipment cant be held together with electrical wire instead of the proper safety pin and be expected to properly work. Dissatisfied with the way business was conducted and will not be renting from this store again.

Prices are fair, staff is great. Wish their parking area was better designed. It can get busy and with only one way in and out it makes it a chore getting out when they get busy and you have a trailer.

I went to rent a dump trailer and the info I got on the phone was one price then I got there and they didn’t have the one I had spoken with someone 10 minutes earlier so I had to get what was available. Ok then I missed the time by a couple hours. The owner ( he said) charged me the weekly rate instead of another day saying I cost him a rental. I agreed that I should pay the 3 hr or extra day but to triple it is insane. I have been going there for over 20 years and since it is a new owner that I feel is a thief, never again!!!

Beware the $10 cancellation fee. I was a regular customer, never returning late. By mistake I reserved equipment that would not work for what I needed. I called to cancel more than 24 hours in advance. Nailed me with a $10 fee for canceling. Never told me anything about a fee when I made the reservation. Wouldnt even apply the $10 towards something that would work for me. Nope. Never going back again. Too many other places out there that are willing to bend the rules for an honest mistake.

Beware of doing business with these guy, i was a faithful renter, never missed a payement nothing, they then told me they would no longer rent to me because they had 2 cards on file and where tired of trying to figure out which one to charge, I laughed because its not hard to remove one of the cards. I cant believe something so stupid and petty would put me on there do not rent, but I guess they dont like money.

Called and received a price of 15.00 dollars to fill a 20# propane tank. The over confident non-mask wearing old man that filled it, didnt have ANY weights on the scale, NONE! And when I asked him about it, he tried to sway me away by saying Just go in and pay When I came home, it fell short of the marked weight of previous propane tanks from various places. Eyeballing a fill seems dangerous and pilfering. I HIGHLY recommend going anywhere that will at least weight the fill...Apparently its safer for them to under fill and you take the loss than overfill. Gee Thanks! (Go to Von Hansons. They are honest and you can get a beef stick on the way out!)

We had a great experience with this company renting a wood chipper. Rented it for 4 hours, but had issues with it after 2. We called them right away and they told us to bring it back. It was determined that the machine needed a repair that couldnt be done quickly, so they refunded half our money. We only had to pay for the 2 hours we had it. Thats the way business should be done.They were also very helpful in educating us on how to work the machine.

Last week I rented a tile saw from General Rental Center for a backsplash project my husband & I were doing. I brought it home and due to my husband getting home late because of issues at work. The project didnt get started until about 8:30 that night. Well we were having an issue with cutting the tiles, due to the blade not lining up with the guide. So needless to say we only got two tiles cut and the store was closed by then so we couldnt call to ask questions. The rental needed to be returned the next day by 11:00 am. We were expecting that we would just have to get a different saw and pay for another days rental.Upon returning the saw I was greeted and kindly asked if we got the project done. I explained what issue we had, Mike who was extremely helpful and nice came out to the vehicle as he knew what we probably did. He showed me the two pieces that should have been taken off and then the blade put in and pieces replaced. AS it turned out thats what we didnt do so it was us that made the mistake and it wasnt the saw. Instead of making us pay for another day he let us use the saw again and just reset our rental time, so we could finish our project!!! What great customer service as he could have charged us another day due to it being our fault blade wasnt properly in. We have rented multiple things from this company and will continue, as they have gone above and beyond what they didnt have to do!!! Keep up the great job and being so customer friendly!!

I rent equipment all the time for different jobs for my company. This is the first time I needed to rent in the Monticello area and they were first ones on Google. We are 2 hours away and they were able to accommodate to our situation which was awesome. We had a bit of a misunderstanding about when the equipment would be picked up but they worked with me and i didnt get any fees for the problem.PS. Ive rented in lots of different places. These are great prices compared to other places Ive rented and the equipment worked wonderfully.I rented a 19 ft lift

You saved me a lot of money. My basement flooded and I had to almost pay 2k for a company to come and dry up my basement but I rented your drying equipment for very cheap reasonable price for 1 week and the price was still under $500.

My original rating was one star because I had some issues with the equipment that I rented. At that time, I was frustrated, disappointed, annoyed & a little angry. I sent an email after business hours & promptly received a phone call well before business hours the next day. Instead of blaming me for misuse, Todd made it right with me by explaining a few things & allowing me to pick up a different unit to keep the entire day. He stated We just want you to be able to get your job done.. Rarely these days do I ever experience top notch customer service but I sure did there!!

Beware they are Crooks that Steal your money!!!!We Rented a stump grinder from them because they were the only ones around with one in stock. When we got it to our house 45 minutes away we couldnt get it to run. We called them several times asking what was wrong or if we were missing anything. We did everything that 2 different people said to do and couldnt get it started so we drove it back. When they came out and looked at it they noticed there safety pin that they tried to tape on fell out which is why it wasnt running. I dont know why several people couldnt tell us to look at that safety pin if its a common issue that there hack tape job doesnt hold in there safety pin correctly. By this point we had wasted 4 hours and just wanted our money back but they said it worked properlyAnd they refused to give us a refund. Its not our fault if their machine needs to be taped together to work properly. There goes $80 and 5 hours for nothing. Its bad enough that they have bad equipment and waste your time but then they steal your money from you its just wrong!AVOID this place unless if you want to waste your time and money.

Rented a tiller and it was literally falling apart as my husband was tilling. He had to fix it himself to keep working. When he brought it back he told them what had happened and that he was pretty frustrated that the machine was not in working order. No apologies or money taken off the bill. We told them we wouldn’t rent from them again since we were charged $109 for a poorly functioning piece of equipment that if was working right could have been been returned within 2 hours for half the price. The staff let him walk out the door without attempting to make any type of amends.

Horrible service way over charged me for for 4 hours of use on the equipment we rented do not ever rent from these rip off artists.

We have been renting equipment from Todd for years. We have never had a problem when equipment issues arise because the guys at General Rental take care of it quickly. They have worked with us when we forgot to bring back rentals on time and were an hour late. They have stayed open late so we could get a trailer returned the same day so we didnt get charged an additional day. Todd has come in and opened the shop to rent us a specialty tool we needed after hours to repair a customers plumbing. We couldnt ask more of these guys.

100% would recommend and will be renting from them again. They helped me out by letting me keep equipment an extra day for free because of rain. Awesome people and I really appreciate their help.

I rented a trailer and a winch that had a cord to use for remote control. When I plug that in it would not allow the cable to come out. I moved the cord at the plug in sight and then it worked. But if the cord moved it would stop working. When I was ready to unload again it would not work to release. I worked on this for an hour and finally had to use another way to unload. I call to say I would be late because of that but arrive at 5:25 to return. I told them of the problem but everyone seemed more interest on leaving than dealing with this. I asked if there would be any discount because of the faulty unit and they said no, it would be someone else to make that call.

We rented a canopy for our wedding it was set up with multiple holes and one of the seams was not looped right. They sent guys back out to patch the holes the next morning we were not able to set anything up until it was done. They left and we looked again and they missed one. We also got table,chairs, and Table clothes these were great. The porta potty’s were is not the greatest shape but worked, but when they came to get them after it had rained for two days they drove the truck threw our yard and left big ruts. If I had to do it all over I would definitely use someone else for all the time and effort I had to put into getting everything straightened out before we could even set up!

I had reserved a moving truck from Sunday till Wednesday. I forgot about the closing time of 1pm and went to pick up the truck at 3:30pm...UGG! I called and left a message, and to my surprise Todd not only returned my call, but he came to the store just to get me the keys! Ive been a long time customer and Ill continue to use their services. Super pleased! We used them for a wedding reception too, tents were set up nice, tables and chairs were in perfect condition! A+ service! A+equipment!

Lost my 50 dollar deposit due to weather. They Would not refund or count as a credit for next rental because I couldn’t make it work with their Monday-Thursday offer (I rented on a Saturday). I won’t be going back.

They used to be good place the rent equipment But now there are new owners their the bad place to rent equipment be where peoples over charge not going back anymore.

Ive rented many, many times from GRC over the last 20 years, or so. Tents for a couple different events, tables, chairs, trellis, trenchers, telescoping lifts, scissors lifts, trucks, trailers, tools, etc. I have always felt the staff was incredible. Yes, I have had problems with equipment a couple of times but Todd, Kevin, Melissa, Ron, and all the rest have taken care of all problems in a quick, professional, and equitable manor. They know they have a customer for life in me. I go out of my way to rent here over any other company.

I have rented here many times, trailers, post hole digger, chain saw, drywall lift, pressure washer.... the items have always worked and the staff has always demonstrated anything I may need to know prior to use. Friendly and well supplied, I would recommend them to anyone.

As a contractor who frequently rents equipment, other rental places are better. The lifts dont work for more than an hour or two, the 10 chipper wont get up to operating RPM so it doesnt work properly and anything hydraulic from here leaks and causes property damage and clean up costs. Waste of time and money.

Read my other reviews, it takes a lot for me to give only one star. Dont rent from this place.Tool malfunctioned repeatedly, couldnt do the job. I asked to have lowered to a one day rental from a week and they refused. They offered to give me another one which wasnt an option because I live 45 min away. Ultimately knocked $35 off which meant I only wasted $100 and 3 hrs of my life on their trash equipment. Now to go rent from somewhere else to get the job done.

I rented an ice cream machine for our wedding we had on August 8th. The machine didnt work at all. It kept plugging, pouring out runny drippy mix, and wouldnt work for anything. Upon returning it I called to explain the situation. When I got there to return it, I asked the owner if he would work with me on the rental price. He looks at me and said Ive worked with you enough! I then told him that I would not pay the charge for renting me an unusable piece of equipment. I was told thank you for saying that into my microphone, you will now have an arrest warrant out for theft of service.. At all cost do not rent anything from these people. Do yourself a favor and go without before you attempt to do business with these very unprofessional crooks!Customer service is supposed to be number one! I dont think these people even know what customer service is. At all cost stay clear.

Nice and friendly, small town feel!I dont own many things regarding handyman anything. This place has me and others (if any) like me covered. The rates seems fair enough since Id rather not buy one of everything Id ever need when a new situation arises.Basic tools all the way up to things you didnt know you could rent!Check this place out if you are in a pinch, or planning a job you arent quite equipped for! Of course call ahead for availability.

These guys are a very unprofessional . Don’t know how to run there own equipment.. If something breaks while you’re using it something as simple as a hydraulic line leak they will charge you parts and labor to fix it.

Beware! These folks are not honest! Do not rent from them! There are many other rental places in the area . They told me the chairs and tables and tent would be non refundable if I canceled my event. Fair enough. I then added on table clothes and heated dishes and was never told that these were also subject to the non refundable clause. The event is 6 weeks away and I was told I could not cancel the add ons of table cloths and heated dishes without losing half of my deposit on them. I am still using them for the tent and tables and chairs but wish I knew the kind of people they were before I originally rented from them.

Very happy to work with these folks. Weather didnt cooperate with my project today, but the folks in Monticello did. Thank you. Will be back next weekend to finish my project.

Good friendly staff that are responsive, just be a aware they are quite picky about their policies. Sunday counts as a full day, once you rent it dont attempt to swap or return early, they will charge you. Fill up gas to the extra click or they will and charge you.Equipment ran well and helped me do the job.

Horrible customer service from KEVIN and cheap junky rental items, and 6 HOURS LATE. We ordered tables, a tent, and other misc. items for our wedding. They said they could not set up the tent ( over 900$ for tent ) because of the position of it. My wife had specifically told MELISSA where the tent would be set up and the positioning of it and she said that would be fine. They sent the guys out to our house without the proper weights. They were 6 hours late. We had to cancel our rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding because they were so late. I spoke with KEVIN on the phone about the tent, he offered NO help to try and find a solution. He raised was yelling over the phone about how they couldnt do ANYTHING to help us and its not their fault they were so late. I asked to speak with the owner, he said no, and I could hear the owner telling KEVIN what to say.I felt VERY disrespected and upset about the whole thing. So they didnt even take the tent out of the truck and they said I could only get a 50% re-fund, and they offered NO HELP OR SOLUTION.This was a month ago and we have yet to get a re-fund. They have no contacted us or responded to our inquiries about the re-fund.The plants and arch that were delivered were held together with clear tape and green electrical wire. These items were complete garbage.Me, my wife, and my family have never felt so disrespected from ANY company ever.The guys who delivered the stuff were nice, and made it very clear what they thought about KEVIN and the owner. They said they ALWAYS do this type of thing to rip off the customer and make extra money!!!!

Returning scissor lift was different. Walked in to pay but did not want to even up had to go out and help disconnect trailer, then went back in and payed the bill, went back and I left. They are busy and have alot of equipment onhand. customer service was nof the greatist but they friendly enough.

The worst experience with the rental company in my life rented a nifty 50 Self driving called an hour ahead said they had it after I had it scheduled from the night before still wasn’t ready or loaded had to wait and switch to a different lift And that left broke down while working had to run back and swap out lifts Took four extra hours out of my day and still charge me the same price without no credit or no discount

I wish I could put down no stars this place is nothing but a huge rip off!!!! I went to rent a lawn mower because mine broke down. I get it home it wont even start to get it off the trailer. nothing no start. So I head back to the store not even a hour later. Drove from the store to my house in big lake 8 miles no start and turn around to go back. This guy Todd accuse me of breaking there stuff and said I must of messed with it and when I said no sir I just tried to start it, he call me a liar right to my face in front of other customers and staff when clearly there was no reason to. He jumps on the mower and no start, again accuses me of tampering with it. I told him why would I do that I just want to get my lawn done. He then says hes going to charge my card 300 bucks for a damages. I never got it off the trailer! Then this other worker comes over checks the mower finds the seat switch had come unplugged. Said to Todd this is the one that needs the new switch because it vibrates lose. So I say to Todd whos the liar?! I think you owe me a apology, he says I dont owe you anything. I said fine im taking my business else where. I said I will not be paying for this rental being I could never get it off the trailer. He tells me fine you will get theft charges for not paying. I said go right ahead and press them. then he said better yet I have your card on file I will just charge it. I told him that would be unauthorized. To make a long story short thats what he did the next morning charged me 300 for a $97 dollar transaction. Now I have to cancel my cards. Who the Liar and crook? Todd treats people like they dont even matter yells and threatens them. I would never go there ever again nor should any one else.

My husband rented a walk behind trencher. When he got it home the blade kept binding up. He immediately brought it back. The machine had less than 30 minutes on it. They said it works just fine and that he must not of been running it right. They refused to give any money back and had no sympathy for him wasting his whole morning driving around.He then went to Klat rental in Buffalo and got the job done that afternoon with no problem!Do not waste your time with these people. This is no way to run a business.

I rented a chop saw and blade to cut part of my driveway. I wasnt even done with it and the knot in the pull cord pulled through the handle. When I returned it I said what happened and they claimed I missed used there equipment and attempted to charge me more, luckily the mechanic was on my side and heled me out. Then the guy charged me more for too much wear on there crappy chipped up blade that I already paid extra for insurance on. There equipment is JUNK!Do not do business with these crooks!

General Rental Monticello is 5 stars all day long. I have a construction company and am renting equipment from big to small all the time! And I mean almost monthly! Their prices are very fair and their service is above and beyond! I have had issues off site and they have either talked us through it or made a effort to make it right. I have recommended them.to absoulty everyone I know. I know other construction companies from Mpls that drive to them for their customer service. I would have to think that if anyone has had a bad experience with this business they probably did not know what they were doing, broke something and did not want to accept responsibilities for it. I know the General Rental Staff always goes over all equipment and if something happens that is unforeseen they will be fair every time.

Very helpful staff that know a lot about the equipment they offer. Everything Ive rented has always been is great working order except for one thing and they apologized and adjusted the price fairly with no arguments.

I rented an 18ga Floor nailer this week as well as many other pieces of equipment this past year.The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. The nailer worked flawlessly compared to a competitors I rented the previous week. Todd went over & above to make sure I had the correct nails for my application and showed interest in my project I did not expect.

Safety chains on car dolly were so long they occasionally touched the ground in transit even after I wrapped the chains multiple times around the trailer tongue to try and keep them off the ground. They charged me over ten bucks because they said I damaged them. If they had the correct length chains on the equipment the possibility of them dragging on the ground would be eliminated. Because the guy behind the counter really didnt seem to care or think about why this happened I wont go back.
