The laymen and clergy here were very, very kind. Even though I was visiting from out of state, they made me feel very welcome. I have only ever attended mass in primarily northern or Latin American influenced parishes, so it was really neat to see how it compared to a parish with a more southern influence to the liturgical music and sermons. I highly recommend the experience!
Beautiful. Spacious. The Ten Commandments are on the ceiling, very clear. You could learn about our faith, our Creed, and the sacraments, by reading the stained glass windows. Three black deacons participated, with a white priest of Jewish descent. The parish is racially diverse. Jazz was part of the music, which was mostly lively. The liturgy was respected. There were two seminarians. There are kneelers. The confessionals look very discreet. The people are lively, welcoming, sensitive to human realities.
Beautiful church and congregation. My husband and I were traveling through town and stopped for the night in Montgomery. At the beginning of mass, all visitors were asked to rise, we were greeted by the congregation and also received a blessing. We were lucky enough to witness the First Holy Communion of six or seven children. After Mass, we again were made to feel very welcome. The topper is that when we arrived home, we had received a card from the church thanking us for our attendance and wishing us safe travels home!
