The orchid I ordered came quickly. However the plant is not of good quality. Two leaves have been cut back. The pot it is in cant stand up by itself. I contacted them and was told I could send it back but that I would have to pay for shipping. I was expecting a quality plant, this is not it. I will not order from them again. I suggested that they give me half of what I paid for the plant back which would be $19.00 and they have not replied back.

My husband raves about them all the time. We do a lot of online orders and the plants are alway healthy with great the roots systems. Its amazing how beautiful the flowers and buds are when they come right out of the box. Its pretty incredible that they can ship halfway across the country and have the plants arrive in pristine condition. Their packing is awesome.Weve had very few problems on our numerous orders mostly with FedEx delays due to Covid. Customer service is great. Theyve helped us track down lost plants and never failed to fix a problem or concern.They seem to be really nice people who want to help you succeed. Occasionally my husband would get flowers for our special day. Our last anniversary, he got me this one big Dendrobium orchid. Flowers are big, white and absolutely stunning! If you love Dendrobium, this plant is a must have in your collection. The plant is over 2.5 feet tall with flower about 3.5 inches across. This Dendrobium is super healthy. The orchid nursery is owned and run by a family warm. kind and friendly. I have gotten several orchids from them. Their orchids are healthy and pretty. If you love orchids, then you should go to visit their greenhouse and meet with these people.

Amazing nursery with great orchids!!! The ones I got came in very healthy and nice with great progeny! I got a Phal Princess Kaiulani and Yin’s Green Jewel ‘Montclair’. One came with 8 spikes and the other with 2. They have both bloom for me in a matter of 2 months. The Princess Kaiulani is especially a very frequent bloomer, she has bloom for me 3 times in a matter of 6 months. Very Impressive. They are to die for and I can say enough to describe how happy I am to receive these two gems. I definitely recommend this website. Norman is also very helpful and is a pleasure to work with! Discovered Normans oh so helpful and generous weekly live classes at the beginning of the pandemic and wow.....I am a devoted customer. Beautiful plants, AS ADVERTISED, packed carefully and, if the worst happens and FedEx screws up, Karen in the office is always to the rescue. I ordered the first photo of the peach color for $150. I received the second photo. The explanation was those are out of season and i was given no warning ahead of time so i could change my mind or chose something else. They said i could return - they were a gift. :-/ here’s an idea - maybe don’t put things on your website you can’t offer? Or at least call to offer the customer a choice of substitutes.

When we shifted to work from home last March I started to expand my houseplant collection via online ordering. Ive grown African Violets for as long as I can remember and dabbled in Orchids over the years. Needless to say Im now knee deep into Orchids and I have ordered from 4 different people including Normans. I admit I waited and waited and waited to order because all the plants are beautiful and I just couldnt decide which ones to start with. The unofficial reviews in multiple Face Book orchid groups I am part of are what I rely on when selecting someone to order from. The plants from Normans are incredible!!! The root structure is amazing and overall the plants are very healthy. Im actually getting ready to place an order this week, if I can stop adding and swapping plants in my shopping cart. I dont get to travel for work right now but Im looking for a reason to travel to Southern Ca just to go see the Nursery, walk through all the amazing plants and meet everyone!!

As someone that is fairly new to orchids, I was not sure where to begin when I first took on the task of hobby growing. I had a few grocery store finds, but wanted plants that were more special and exotic then what I could find here locally. A good friend steered me to Norman’s company and I’m very glad that they did!! I have ordered from Normans nursery several times now, and both the health and quality of their plants has exceeded my expectations EVERY time. The plants I have received from Norman’s are packed with meticulous care and have arrived to their new home in wonderful shape. The couple of times I have had to call their support department (due to a blunder on my end), they were very helpful, friendly and professional at resolving my issue. This is a wonderful family operated business located at Montclair, CA. I have made serval orders online and finally took a trip to visit the nursery personally. Right upon entering into the nursery, the staff were all very prompt, polite, and efficient. They all worn masks and followed the Covid protocol. I felt safe. As for the orchids, I was very impressed with the quality and the selection. The orchids were robust, healthy, and I didnt see any pests. The fragrance just permeated in the air...I felt I was back in Maui, Hawaii...Overall a very pleasant experience. If you want to get into the hobby of orchid and are tired of the Trader Joe, home depot, and other poor quality big box store orchids. You should definitely buy from Norman orchid nursery.

Ordered 5 orchids on-line. One was out of stock when they shipped yet they still charged me for it and I had to nag them to get a refund. Another of the plants clearly was diseased. I requested a refund and offered to return the plant if they sent a pre-paid shipping label. They told me the obviously diseased leaves were normal old leaves and refused a refund. They have refused to respond to my emails since. Im now disputing the charge for that plant with my credit card. This business may be fine to purchase from in person where you can inspect the plants but I wouldnt order on-line from them as they send out clearly defective plants and then refuse to take responsibility.

I have ordered about five times from the orchids.com. which is also Norman Orchids Nursery. I never had any problem with my online orders. Every Saturday Norman also gives a podcast on the orchids history, care, and trade secretes. I have learned so much.(on youtue) The attached beautiful orchids photos I took was at the nursery two weeks ago. Mind you, I still use an Iphone 5. The antiquated phone still cant deny the wonderful coloration and health of the orchids. I think all the bad reviews are from his competitors....

I have received 23 orchids from Norman Orchids Nursery. Paph, phal, Cat, and Prag. Not once did I encounter a problem, The Orchids arrived healthy and very well packaged, I will not hesitate to buy from him again and highly recommend to others who are interested at more than those big box store orchid! Which are often forced to flower without proper root growth. This is the main reason why many people fail growing orchids. Norman orchids grow orchids at the right way, without using hormone forcing the flower on immature orchids. The bad reviews are probably from his competitors!

Your plants arrive looking like they just left the nursery even if they’re in bloom the flowers will be undamaged.They are great people with a staff who actually want you to succeed with your plants not just sell you more plants like most other places.They even take the time to do a weekly podcast with tips tricks and cultural info on the various orchids they sell.I’ve ordered a lot of plants and rarely had a problem, but when I did customer service took the time to investigate and verify the problem then went above and beyond to take care of me and make sure I was satisfied. This nursery is so nice. I don’t know much about orchids so I had a lot of questions. I was able to find the help needed in this nursery. The workers are super nice and they have a wide variety of selections for different occasions. I was able to pick out some for my grandmas birthday and they even gave me a discount on one.

I went for the first time last July. I was hesitant to go because of the reviews, but I could see online that they had a lot of beautiful orchids. The showroom is a decent size, and the plants that are there depends on the time of year you go. When I went in July, it was more sparse. When I went in December, there were definitely more plants. You can also go into their other greenhouse where most of the phals are. What I learned between July and Decembers visit is that calling ahead for a particular orchid(s) work better, especially if the orchid is not in their showroom. The workers are filling orders, so do not have time to go to the back to look for particular plants. If you call ahead, they will pull the orchids for you (and be willing to pull other ones too after that that you fancy).Since my visit in December, Ive also ordered twice from them online. They pack the orchids very carefully and the orchids are healthy and thriving. The pictures below are from my most recent online purchase.

My first time purchasing four orchids from Norman and orchids.com. They were supposed to be delivered by FedEx on a Friday but didnt arrive until Monday because of a FedEx exception. I called and Karen was helpful and also called FedEx to track the package. Upon arrival, their packaging was exceptional and everything arrived in great shape. In my last delivery which came on April 21st, I had an unexpected issue.I sent an email with photos and a few details to the customer support address and through a few exchanges we reached a happy place.The solution came out to be more generous than I asked for. HORRIFIC!!!! The first two photos are a premium orchid that cost $125. All of the buds are torn off and only one flower. Most of the roots are rotten as well. The third and fourth photos are of another premium orchid with all of the buds torn off. I attempted to contact customer service multiple times; however, they refuse to respond. I purchase a lot of orchids from many sellers and this company is by far the worst. You are better off going to ebay or etsy to buy your plants.

Love their seedings - its always a surprise! Or if you prefer to know exactly what the flower will look like choose a mericlone. I have been shopping here for exotic orchids. Yes they are more expansive than your TraderJoe, Homedepot, or Costco baulk orchids. But Norman’s orchids usually bloom longer. You can also find unusual orchids here too. If you have any question the staff are always very helpful and teaching me the orchid tips.

I have placed several orders both online and have gone in person. I probably own about 15 Normans plants now and I have not had a single issue. I think the nursery is lovely, and my fiancé and I had a great time when we visited in February. Jeff Young showed us around the nursery and we even got to chat with a bunch of the staff and other visitors. All of my orders have arrived healthy and have continuously bloomed since arriving at my home.

I’m very disappointed in the customer service towards the in store customer they are so involved in the podcast/online live they forget about the shopper in store. I felt rushed and uncomfortable I buy orchids here for special occasions and bdays and anniversaries Ect. The guy over charged me 4 orchids 200$. I don’t mind the price, what I do mind is the bad customer service. They are always in rushing. Never answer the phones. The employe shoved a orchid in the pot and broke a stem never answered the phone.

I ordered a specimen sized dendrobium aphyllum. It was not anywhere close to specimen sized and did not look like any of the pictures online. Also, it came COVERED in snails. For an expensive orchid, I expected MUCH better. Would never buy from them again.

I started buying my orchids from our local orchid nursery 7 years ago today. I bought many different orchids and took their free orchid class. I struggled for years to keep my mixture of box store and nursery orchids alive to the point of giving up. I killed many going from 40+ to 20 and completely stopped buying any new plants.Last year during the Covid lockdown I started my orchid venture again. Buying online was the only option and I started buying from several nurseries across the US and joined more online groups. Finally I found Normans Orchids! I joined their group and sat back and watched for several months. Then the one came up from Jamie. You know that one you cannot live without! From there it was on!! The quality and selection of plants is just incredible and I cannot tell you how much I have learned from the podcasts and the group members!I want to thank Norman, Jamie and the entire staff for renewing my love for these amazing plants! I’ve ordered orchids here for many years. Shipping to Northern California is always quick. The plants are meticulously packed and of the highest quality. My blue vanda has bloomed twice in the past two years, and the phalaenopsis plants have re-bloomed a few times.

I have been buying orchids from Normans orchids for at least five years now and I have been so pleased with the quality of the plants, as well as the customer service. I live in VA and so my shipments have to come all the way across the country. They are always packed beautifully and have a heat pack in the winter. I have purchased several genera Including A number of Cattleyas, Phals as well as paphs, Phrags and encylias.i am always impressed with how the Cattleya’s start pushing out numerous new roots about a month after arriving and the Phals are in bloom for months.i am still reblooming many of the Phals I bought from them the first year I started Buying from them. This winter for the first time, my shipment got caught up in transit in the deep cold and the plants in the shipment were damaged by the cold. I took Pictures of them and their customer service person Karen filed a claim with FedEx and I had My replacement plants the nexteek. I highly recommend this company for an amazing selection and very high quality orchids.

I received a sick orchid with bad root rot, sent email within 5 days of receipt. Despite my efforts it kept rotting. Emailed again within 3 weeks, no response. Reached out on Facebook chat and was helped and listened to, said customer service would be in touch. I got an email saying that they would refund my money. I got an email to check my order status online, so I tried to log on and found out THEY DEACTIVATED my account. I spent well over $100 and would have ordered more, but because THEY sent me a rotting orchid, they blocked me for complaining. I was totally prepared to leave a good review because despite others saying they were not helped, I actually was! Apparently they want your business as long as you keep your mouth shut if you get a bad plant. The other two plants I got were GREAT and I actually might have spent way more money with them. I was absolutely understanding until I found out they deactivated my account (however I still get their newsletter emails) They have a lot to learn about customer service.

Multiple broken canes with an online order. Customer service said the plant was “heathy” but ignored to address the condition of the plant itself. They offered to allow me to return the plant at my expense, but required 2nd day shipping and subject to their inspection, and a 25% restocking fee. This is conflicting with their return policy which says they will review and replace damaged plants, but in three separate emails they would not comment on the damage which looks like a box fell on the plant.

My husband and I visited San Diego recently, so of course we had to take the drive to Normans nursery. Wow! What a place! Beautiful collection of plants. I bought some orchids, and they packed them perfectly! No damage on the way home- all made it safely. Norman was there as well. He is so nice and so knowledgeable. It was great to chat with him, so friendly. He truly has a passion for what he does. So helpful. Great experience!! Highly recommend!

I should have paid attention to the google reviews. Horrible customer service. I emailed the minute I placed my order when I realized something was wrong. Took a week for someone to reply to me. Didn’t address my issue I asked for a cancellation. No response. Called daily multiple times a day finally sent an email saying cancel my order if I don’t hear back from you then I’m cancelling with credit card company. They emailed back and said was all ready shipped. Literally no attempt to talk to me. To offer solutions just here deal with it. I’ll be calling my credit card company anyway

Norman is very patient and wants orchid growers ro be successful. These are beautifully grown plants, they are so healthy and ready to grow in their new home. I would post a picture but I could not figure how.

TLDR; healthy plants, well-packaged, wrong plant, terrible customer service.I received two plants - both well-packed and very healthy, exempting one nematode that I took care of while repotting. On the recommendation of a friend who had received the wrong plant from Normans before and had a terrible customer service experience, I paid extra for a plant in bloom to ensure it was the proper plant. It was not. They sell 9 variations of schilleriana. While I ordered the schilleriana var Sabah, I received a plant marked simply as schilleriana and the bloom didnt exhibit a single trait of the Sabah variation. I thought by drafting a very detailed description of the deficiencies and including multiple pictures and offering to trade, I would be making it easy for them, and could avoid the terrible customer service experience of my friend. Not so. I instead received a very curt, dismissive, lazy and sarcastic response. Have yet to hear back on my second appeal but dont have high hopes. Would not recommend for online purchases. You simply wont get what you paid for and then theyll give you the middle finger when you point it out.

Not a single bud or partially opened flower on any of the five (5) plants. Instead of months of viewing pleasure, sorry Normans orchids will provide just weeks. Norman got my Phals from his must sell (dump) sales bench. I am so disappointed.

For those who likes orchid especially Phalaenopsis? I recommend Norman’s Orchid Nursery located in Montclair, CA. You can find both home orchids and collectible species. I love the plants I got because the flowers last for a long time. Some with flower spikes that continues to re-bloom. Every Saturday, they have Podcast that talks about proper way of growing Orchids. Are you tired of many different kinds of orchid fertilizer? The nursery sells 1 type of orchids necessary all year around. My favorite experience during my visit, was meeting Hannah Belle Fang Lee!

Poor attitude spoils any good business relationship.....had a conversation with norman about megathive vs. superthrive...he got very insulted and belligerent and could not carry on an adult conversation....poor little norman cant take constructive criticism...why would anyone buy anything from him??

Very very upset about my 2 orders. Buyer beware as you have to pay out of pocket for 2 day shipping (expensive) to get them to take their plants back so you can get your hard earned money back!!!! One had root rot, one was supposed to be premium mature and was not. One was 2 plants put together to look mature but was not. One had scale all under the leaves. They cut all the roots on one bc of rot and packed the air roots in moss to cover up the damaged crown. No more money of mine will be lost to this seller who will use every trick in the book to make his plants look worth the prices he charges.

Ive never been to a business establishment that has more rude people! First of all even though they had lots of greenhouses only the show room was available and judging from the plants available there, they looked like sickly imported plants. Some were ok but most were not in a good condition.And then the owner Norman I believe was screaming at the workers and then he came out of the other greenhouse, saw me, and with an angry face asked what do you want!! as if I was a nuisance by just being there. It was like he was having a bad day and thought it was OK to take it out on his employees and then on me because he happened to see me.Avoid this place. Rude people, bad plants. Disgusting.

Ordered a premium Dendrobium bigibbum rainbow. Arrived to the east coast in great condition and she even has a sizeable keiki on her--bonus plant :)

Where to begin. I ordered a phalaenopsis bellina var indigo, and was instead given a phalaenopsis bellina... Upon reaching out to norman, he stated they are the same thing. Completely untrue. I requested a refund and he said Id have to pay shipping back, so I sold the plant instead for a profit. He was not happy about this.. The customer service of this company like others have said is horrible. They do not take responsibility for their own mistakes, and continually ship out wrong plants to people. I wanted to like this place. Save yourself the headache and do not order from them.

Tldr; beautiful plants for private growers, but their web presences leaves one insecure and feeling unsafe with their information.Very nice plants! Ordered around several hundred dollars worth of items and they arrived promptly and in great condition. Tremendously well packaged.Website is kind of 20th century and does not display as a secure connection. Mobile site is rather rudimentary and also does not display as a secure connection.My first order was stunning for phrags and paphs - all absolutely beautiful specimen.Second order a bit less so. Paphs were fantastic, and all in spike. Cats were very overgrown in flimsy little pots - all very healthy and juicy in the proper shade of green but in bad need of a transplant. They were growing out all over with both roots and pseudos. Amazingly healthy, I dont know how they get all that very robust unrotted root growth around a tiny core of sphagnum.In all imo if they took a little more care of their presentation rather than volume theyd get better reviews than what I read on several various review sites of their business. A lot of the reviews are total #firstworldproblems, but they do offer very healthy and robust plants well worth the high ticket price.Knocked a star off for the website insecurity, whats that about? But quality of plants is top notch.

I received very beautiful plants. I bought my first ever Phalaenopsis belina from Norman and what I received exceeded my expectation!

Ordered 5 orchids-came on time and in good condition. They probably use non composting peanuts because the plants have moisture and decomposing peanuts would make a total mess. I used to work in an orchid nursery and they seem to pack and ship just like my old company did so not sure why there are some complaints. No damaged buds either. I would order again from this company. I think it is like anything-some people you just cannot please.

I ordered 2 plants, one Violacea var indigo and one phal micholitzii. On the day they arrived, I unpackaged both plants and the violacea was ok, some leaf damage but the mitcholizi was in horrible shape. Limp leaves and rot on the leaf. I immediately contacted orchids.com and the response I got was unlike any other response from any other company I’ve purchased orchids from. Norman was rude and in denial that he sent me a sick plant and tried to cover it up by saying the species has a dormant period and to keep it dry. Well Norman I can tell you I am experienced with the species and what you sent me for 35 dollars was a rotten wilted sickly phal that is on its deathbed and will definitely not make it. The horrible smell that wofted in my face when I opened the package was unbearable. I can’t believe this company is still doing this type of service on a daily basis and getting away with it. Completely rediculous! I refuse to spend more money to “ship a dead plant” back to your company for you to reserve the right to “deny” my return claim. Good luck finding customers! Horrible company! Spend your money elsewhere people!** upon taking the plant out of the pot it was very evident the plant has been sick for a while- no roots and the whole base of the plant was rotted***

I recently purchased some orchids from Norman, they are so healthy and beautiful!

Received my first 2 orders from Normans Orchids. I hate to say I am not impressed with the quality of the plants I received. All 6 plants had very weak/mostly dead roots and desiccated pseudobulbs. The paphiopedalum, dendrobium, and the miltonia should be okay in the next few months. The maxillaria and bulbophyllum have almost no viable roots at all. The Fdk. After Dark I ordered was listed as NBS...one shriveled pseudobulb and 1 very new growth will take some time to get to blooming size. All of the plants arrived in old sphagnum moss that was very tightly packed (probably part of the root problems).Overall, Im not impressed with the quality especially when you take the price tag into account. I would consider purchasing from them again, but not online and since I have no plans to visit California, most likely will not be doing business again. The growers in Hawaii and Florida I normally buy from provide me excellent, healthy plants with a lower price tag.

I was very pleased with my order. Ordered it in Saturday and got it on Wednesday. It was packed very well and the plant itself was of nice size and very healthy. I will definitely be ordering again.

I went to Normans today. I have been collecting orchids for several years now. I was very impressed with the quality and overall health of his orchids. I have approx 175-200 orchids now and added another to my collection. I have been there before and bought from them and have always liked what they have. He had one that caught my eye and I had to have it.I have to say Eric, Jamie, and Norman were all very nice. I spent about 2 hours talking to them about orchids and how they prefer to keep them. They all were very informative. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them again.
