The Animated Child Team is absolutely amazing! My son has been attending Animated for approximately a year and a half. With the COVID crisis, my husband and I had absolute no clue on how to balance full time jobs along with virtual learning. Animated Child has saved us! The Director put strict health measures in place for families and staff; I feel absolutely confident that the center is/has been taking all appropriate measures to makes sure that my family stays safe! I couldn’t ask for more, this center cares about families!
This place is amazing and will set your child up for success. If you want independent and confident children this program is what you are looking for. The program here is the best my child has been enrolled in (2016/2017)and were a family thats been all over the nation. I recently contacted Mrs. Alexi with some educational questions and she responded. I trust her because she was honest from the get go and able to point out my childs struggles socially. She pointed out his strengths too :) This was years ago and allowed for early intervention. She took time to discuss what our challenges were at the time and were going to be in the future. She is an honest and strong woman! We grow with honesty, our children cant grow without honesty. I really dont understand the complaints on here. Clearly the complaints are from people who have unrealistic expectations and cant handle the fact that they are not the most important people in the world. There is a responsibility first and foremost to the children in the program. The childrens safety and development comes before someone unannounced at the door wanting a tour. Safety is important to this school and parents of this school find comfort in the fact that some stranger is not just allowed to walk in. The children come before your expectations of getting an instant email reply or getting millions of questions answered over the phone that you can find on their website. The hours that go into running this program is more than I can imagine and when you get a reply at 7pm that should tell you that the person behind that email is busting their butt during the day.
So surprised to see the personal attacks! My experience at Animated was great! They are sometimes a little slow to reply but they deliver the most amazing childhood experience for the children in their care.
Smart, caring folks run this operation. You can tell they have a ton of experience working with kids. There are lots of interesting activities offered for the kiddos. My experience with this group has only been positive!
This is my daughters first summer at the camp. She absolutely loves it! It started off a little rough because a kid was bullying my child but the director took care of it very quickly. My husband is a programmer and engineer. He would love for our daughter to show remote interest in coding and we are pleasantly surprised to find that now our daughter loves coding! We owe our thanks to Animated Child and Ms. Brittany. My daughter adores her and loves the way she teaches. I wish she would become a school teacher, too!For the first time EVER, my daughter is excited about summer camp and wants to attend Animated Child again next summer. We have zero regrets.
At first, I was not going to leave a review but since we never received the follow up email like told, I want to share my experiences. Granted my wife was not interested in enrolling our son based off of how the flow of things went but I would have probably saved this review if she honored her word. Now I would like to add that we did show up unannounced but we did call before we came by and rang the doorbell. I understand they have their policies. The owner came to the door (Who was not the most pleasant) and there were things said, that was uncomfortable and cringeworthy. We would have been fine turning around and coming back another day but we were allowed in for a tour. As said before, we did try calling and this establishment is located in plaza with other open door kid friendly programs.1st cringeworthy thing said was, we all look healthy, thus allowing us to come in the building. Even though we were allowed in, there were snarky remarks that did not make us feel at home, especially someone whos willing to pay service at this establishment. The owner made other remarks to Parents (who came later), that we showed up unannounced, while we were in her presence. The owner was suppose to email us a list of upcoming availabilities. The owner called us later that night (She was returning phone calls from when we called earlier in the day, not that she intended to call us with availabilities) and she told us that she would by the end of night. It has been a week and weve received no such.I rated this 2 stars because she did give us a walkthrough and the facility is pretty decent but her as an educator and someone who brought up their education/multiple degrees, I feel customer service is severely lacking
Our daughter went to preschool, science camp programs this past summer and goes to the after school enrichment program. I cannot say enough about how happy she is to go to Animated Child every day. The staff keeps our children engaged and makes learning fun! Also, the director/owner is transparent and communicates with us on regular basis. Thank you for all the great programs at Animated Child!!
I wanted to give this place a try however, They barely respond to emails or return phone calls. Talk about customer service, I couldn’t imagine sending my child to a place where the staff or owner don’t even return a phone call SheeshAdd on: I called this place several times and left messages with the staff with NO RESPONSE before I even attempted to send a request for information online. It still does not change the lack of responding to a inquiry when I asked a question, simple as that. Saying that your response is a calendar invite that was not even sent is the wrong answer, how about answering the darn email. My advice is incorporating a follow up process with customers. My review remains as I stated.
I’d like to share how pleased I am to see how much the facility has to offer the kid’s that attend and how much the kids seem to enjoy themselves while there.
They have been excellent with my child, have accommodated for allergies, have excellent choices for child play to entertain. Pay is same for after school no matter how many days they have school, camps are offered and snow days offered.
I do not recommend this place. The owner is rude, inconsiderate, and unfriendly. We received a terrible treatment from this person. She does NOT know how to treat people and I do not understand what she does working with children. There is notable turnover of employees, some days you see someone new, and the next day you do not see them again. We ended up very disappointed by owner’s angry attitude towards us.
In 2016 our son turned four and we decided to find a preschool that would be able to get him ready for kindergarten but that would also allow him to be a child so he could run and play but learn while doing it. We interviewed and toured five different preschools in and around the Woodbridge area. The last on the list was Animated Child. I had an amazing feeling when we walked through the doors and met Ms. Alexy. We toured the school and asked all of our questions which were answered honestly and thoroughly. Based upon our visit, we decided to enroll our son at Animated Child starting in late August. In June of that year, at his four-year well visit, the doctor had asked our son to do a number of things including drawing a picture. He could pick anything he wanted to draw. He drew a few lines with a quizzical look in his eyes. I was shocked that my son didnt know how to draw so much as a square house based on his in-home daycare. Id obviously been remiss as a parent as well. Fast forward to October of that same year. My son had only been in school for two months but he was able to draw elaborate pictures (he had a hidden art talent) and he was able to spell his own name and recognize and sound out letters. He LOVED going to Animated Child on a daily basis. He said that they were able to go to the park every day regardless of the weather, they had field trips to the library (a short walk away), and they had fun activities on a daily basis. His teacher, Ms. Tori, was especially influential in my sons life and she helped shape his knowledge through play.Ms. Hall has set up an amazing curriculum which takes the best of the Multiple Intelligence, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia approaches. I love that he was surrounded by kids his own age but also ones that were older and younger and that he was able to communicate well with both. Animated Child also embraces diversity and inclusion and celebrates both. Our son was in a class with a diverse group of students and each of them learned from the others on how they thought and celebrated various holidays. No one was ever excluded based on race, gender, or beliefs which is important to teach our next generation. During our sons year at Animated Child, he also came to understand how to play and interact with kids with special needs. Our son received more attention, love, and fun play-based education in that one year than he had prior to attending Animated Child. Its important to note that Animated Child is 15 minutes in the opposite direction from mine and my husbands commute to work every day. However, we felt it was more important to find the right environment for our son than to find something convenient for our commutes. It was extremely worth it. Additionally, our son returns and looks forward to returning every holiday or snow day when we put him in Day Camp (or Science Day In as it’s called). And, in 2018, we enrolled our daughter at Animated Child, in Ms. Tori’s class as luck would have it, at 3 years of age. She also LOVES going to Animated Child every day. She loves going to the park, the weekly cooking projects and show-and-tell Tuesdays, and the Open Exploration option provided at Animated Child that allows her to explore, play make-believe, and satisfy her curiosity on a daily basis. Too many daycares and preschools are focused on the wrong things. Animated Child gets it right in focusing on the child and what they need which isnt sitting in a classroom on a daily basis learning until theyre blue in the face. Being able to have the freedom to explore and be outside running around every day yet still learning important things in a fun environment is where kids thrive. Mine have but I dont think they would have without the program at Animated Child. But more, I think its hard to find a good preschool that also cares about the community around them and donates time to local causes. Animated Child does though and I think that influences the children to adopt a similar outlook.
A fun place for kids to blow off steam. I dont know anything about the pre school services but i took my children to play in the play area for an hour and they loved it. The got to feed the guinea pig and watch the fish swim around. Theres lots of toddler activites to do and some 4-5 year old stuff. I gave it 4 stars because ive been to a lot of places like this with more activities and they have a daily rate instead of this place having a hourly rate.
The Owner is really Rude. Has no respect for anybody! Heard her countlessely disrespect people.
I called in today and the lady was so rude unprofessional, and impatient can not explain to me instead referring me back to their website even when I’m telling her it’s my first time and I don’t understand the program, I’m so disappointed and angry.
We are at the end of the day and caller
