I had my wedding here Oct 25th. 2020, The Venue at Dawes is beautiful, but in the evening it is gorgeous. I cant say enough about how wonderful Lori is, she was out of town when we first came to tour, so her sister ( I think it was) showed us around, she had lots of information which made the choice less stressful. The easiest and most rewarding part was her upgrade package. At the start we wanted to do the 6 hour, but the upgrade is not offered with that, so we had to book for the 12 hour day. At first I was worried it would not be worth the extra money, but after hair, makeup, getting food, ice, drinks, and the day of rehearsal, it FLEW by. I AM SO GLAD I did. Being able to show up with everything put together, and leave with only our left overs was the best gift I gave myself that day. Everything looked so perfect together, no one knew I didnt pick the decorations out myself. Lori was there to help with anything we needed during the wedding, and she has lots of advice and answers to your questions. She even took a few photos and sent us a video of our exit walk! I highly recommend The Venue at Dawes for the perfect stress free beautiful wedding.

A converted home, it has a lovely outdoor space, but the lighting is poor at night

I was lucky enough to have my wedding here and it was simply amazing. Even though we were married during the pandemic Lori made a great effort to make sure it was beautiful and welcoming!!! Absolutely love this place and Lori!!! Recommend this venue to all my friends!!!

The venue at Dawes is a beautiful facility that has a well trained staff!! They ensure that every need is met from the moment of arrival to the moment that you have to leave. They never make you feel rushed and are prepared to ensure that no matter the event you are respected and taken care of. This place is a hidden gem to Mobile!! 10/10

The owner lies, puts love of money over neighbors where she put her business in their backyards. She comes across as the sweetest person to your face as long as you agree with her. She has people fooled.. My husband lay sick with cancer and asked her to turn down the volume of the music and the announcer; she ignored. She told us when she first set up business she would invest in mitigating the noise. When she didnt we reminded her and she said she didnt have the money for it yet she continues to make upgrades to her business. She had the gall to tell us we could move. While I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree with their unnatural marriage policy, I see why people get turned off of Christianity when you have such examples. She doesnt love her neighbors as herself. I have repeatedly called her to see if she is going to do as promised and she will no longer return my calls. I have told her everything I have written here so I dont feel bad going public. She has zero consideration of her fellowman when it comes to her business. One day she will have to answer to God.

Anytime I’ve had an event, or been to an event here, it’s been amazing. It’s a beautiful place and wonderful people who run it. I’m so happy that they still stick to their personal beliefs that a marriage is between a man and a woman.

I cannot brag on The Venue at Dawes enough! My now husband and I were both a little skeptical when we first pulled up to tour it because from the front, it just looks like a normal little house. But let me tell you, this place is BEAUTIFUL! My husband and I were both absolutely in love once we walked inside. The bridal suite was my favorite part since us ladies spent all morning and into the afternoon getting ready. It is so elegant and comfortable with plenty of room to get ready! The ceremony area was more beautiful than I could’ve hoped for. The covered reception area was perfect. We loved being able to have the space to have our cakes near our table but also being able to have the food separate under the covered porch. All of our wedding guests loved the venue. I truly couldn’t have found a more perfect place for the wedding that I pictured having. The staff was extremely helpful during our time there and Lori was always available and responded promptly whenever I contacted her with questions. Not to mention, they’re all extremely sweet! To say that Lori takes pride in what she has created with this venue is truly an understatement.

I just want to say that the Venue at Dawes is the best place ever. I was in search of a venue for my daughters Sweet 16 party and stumbled across this gem online. The owner share her story, mission and vision with me at our first meeting and immediately I WAS SOLD. Her dream, passion, purpose and love for what she does rings true in her words and all throughout the grounds of her Venue. Her staff was excellent and took care of us, not as a assignment but as an opportunity to serve us with love and that goes a long way! I was able to create a memorable moment for not only my daughter but also for my family and vendors! Everyone left with a sense of AWE and was so amazed at what they discovered here in Mobile! It was perfect for all the important things that I considered in my search, FAMILY FRIENDLY, COVID FRIENDLY, INTIMATE, DETAILED, SPACES TO CREATE MOMENTS and MEMORABLE!Everyone left with a lasting impression of her party, the Venue, of Mobile AL (for my out of town guests) and a lasting experience! I’m so shocked and saddened to know that there are wedding venues in 2021 that would use religion as a guise to be hateful regarding marriage and a day that is supposed to beautiful. I will make sure my clients steer clear of this place so they don’t have be embarrassed by the anti equality ideals held by the owners.

It’s 2021 and they still think it’s okay to discriminate against others. If you’re looking for a great venue that’s accepting of EVERYONE, Mobile has much more to offer. You couldn’t pay me to host an event here.

Lori and John have taken a brick home with a large yard and turned it into a masterpiece. Each room has been renewed and set up for weddings, parties and graduations. The yard is beautiful. It has several different venues. This is the place to go for Weddings or what ever your family has in mind. Great place.

I had my wedding here June 09 and it was wonderful. The staff was very helpful not only that day but throughout the whole process. And they are very sweet and understanding. Definitely and beautiful, happy, and completely stress free place to have a wedding!

The girl who worked for the venue was so kind and helpful with me! Right as the guests were being seated, I noticed her arranging some of the seating and frantically pulled her aside to see if she’d mind asking the bridal party (all still inside) where I was supposed to sit. She was so sweet and very quickly ran inside to find out. Lifesaver! Cute little cozy venue.

It was Avery nice little outdoor wedding. With big beautiful trees and a big covered porch where we had the reception.

I recently attended a wedding here. The Venue is well equipped for small to medium parties. It has a wonderful canopy of live oaks out back as well as a shaded area where you can set up tables and chairs for eating. The main house has a few rooms and is air conditioned. It also have a full kitchen that you could cook in if needed

Wedding was beautiful. Venue was very pleasant. Unfortunately the neighbors did decide to run every yard machine they had at 7pm on a Saturday. Other than that it was a very nice experience.

The venue is incredibly beautiful. However, the staff is surprisingly unknowledgeable. We had a Mississippi marriage certificate and the venue manager informed us we could not get married due to this. She proceeded by calling the court circuit to present a persisting unfavorable argument. After having the courts approval we proceeded with our marriage. The hired officiant, provided by the venue, was also of great disappointment. He failed to ask my grandfather to give me away and stated the shortest version of vows. Nevertheless, he mindlessly failed to sign our marriage certificate as we had to meet with him the following day to get this completed. Upon this meeting he did not have the knowledge to seal the certificate stating that I should ask the court about this signature. I then had to arrange another meeting to get the final seal.

When i saw photos of this place on Facebook, i just KNEW i had to have our wedding here. The owner and her assistant are so friendly and so willing to help with every detail. I truly felt like they were friends of mine helping me instead of them just doing their job. The day of my wedding could have went a little better because it rained and the only reason I didnt put 5 stars is because the venue isnt exactly well suited for rainy days. They DO provide umbrellas and such but i was thoroughly disappointed not using the stuff i paid for for the day, like the pergola was decorated but we didnt get to use it. Decorations i had in certain places were totally ruined. I just wished there was a way for staff to help work together in a pinch when it rains so that your experience is still a beautiful and enjoyable one. I will say that even with me being annoyed they did refund me a small amount and i still had a good time so i didnt ask for more. This place is beautiful and basically decorates itself.

Last Saturday, November 11 I got to marry the love of my life here at the venue at dawes. It was a beautiful wedding; unfortunately I was unable to enjoy my own wedding for one mistake that was completely out of my control made by someone else. When you book the venue at dawes they make you sign a contract saying you will not allow hard liquor at the venue, and I signed it with no problem. But one of my husbands groomsmen brought in a bottle of liquor. I wish they could have just turned a blind eye and cut us some slack considering it was not at the actual wedding only in their grooms room and NOBODY had become belligerent, but they didn’t and I understand why. I did sign a contract and they have a job to do. However, they could have atleast waited until after the wedding to bring it to our attention. They came to us right before dinner started and threatened to shut the whole thing down and then said we won’t do that but you do owe us five hundred dollars. Keep in mind my reception had just begun. My dad told them that we didn’t have the money to give to them considering the thousands we had already spent on the venue alone. They pretty much said that’s too bad we’ll just draft it out of your account. So for about an hour and a half we were worrying about how we’re going to come up with the money so they wouldn’t overdraft my account. Thankfully all of my husbands groomsmen pitched in and came up with the money. But, that still doesn’t give me back the time that I could have spent enjoying my wedding. They took time and stole precious memories that I will never get back. I will forever have to remember my wedding day as a stressful time. I just wish they could have had the courtesy to bring it up after the wedding. But in the end it doesn’t matter to them about making other people happy and making sure they have good memories to look back on. All they care about is making their pockets fatter. I WOULD NOT recommend the venue at dawes.
