I have had great support from Walk in counselors, regarding deep issues, ranging from gettinf better at beinf assertive, help finding resources for further care, and interpersonal relationships with people of different backgrounds. Id say 5 out of the 6 times ive come out of a session feeling much more at ease.

Wait times were reasonable the two times I went. However, being a free walk in service wait times would vary. Since you are not a able to pick your counselor, you may have to go a few times to find a counselor you like that you can then make an appointment with. I appreciate this service because I have to meet a $6,000 deductible before my insurance will even pay a portion of therapy. So, I am in the process of finding a counselor here that I can work with. I’ve had one okay counselor here and one who I thought was totally unprofessional and thus unhelpful. But there are many people who volunteer their services here so you might get lucky. And if you need help and need this resource don’t be discouraged. I’m a single mother who is thousands of miles from friends and family and, has suffered a major trauma here in Minneapolis. Since the Walk in Counseling Center is my only resource, I’m determined to make it work and keep trying for a good counselor.

Really nice counselors! Peaceful environment. Helpful! I haven’t gone there again because my schedule, but when I needed the most they were there to help me out. I’m glad I found this place where I know I can go back and be treated well.

Waited for counseling for 1.5 hours after being told we’d be seen after 20 minutes. Then, counselor said it’s best to make an appt. because they were closing. Did so for the next day and was running a little late and called ahead. When we arrived, the counselor wasn’t there and no seemed to know who she was or could say. Disappointing.

Free, one time or short term counseling: Ive never heard them mention insurance or payment. They do ask for what name would you like to be called clearly respecting privacy.They will get you in same day.

The counselors are pretty cool, and wait times arent bad. Plus its free, if I remember correctly.
