If you are looking to have an obituary posted for a deceased loved one save your money and do not even consider the Midland Reporter. After numerous edits they still couldn’t get it right and ran it with multiple errors for several days. Then after the memorial service we call the newspaper to speak about the errors and ask them to print it correctly their reply was “we will fix the errors but we won’t post it again for free.” How do you think a 75 year old lady feels when she sees the obituary of her husband of 55 years has errors and you won’t even fix it? Shame on you! If it was free that’s different but you charge exorbitant fees for shoddy work!
First of all, I dont even live in the Petroplex; so, my perspective is a little bit different.I am a Lubbock resident whos published six books, one of them the award-winning Fueling Victory at Home. After my book won the 2020 Best Indie Book Award (BIBA)--Nonfiction--US History award, I tried to make a moderate push for newspapers to get the word out about these books. The MRT was one; unfortunately, after my experience with them, Ive all but sworn off media interviews/media publicity. Ill find other ways of publicizing my work. The news editor was rather rude and dismissive. The MRT, it should be noted, is doing a great deal of office work offsite due to the pandemic. I offered to send him a first person essay to a begrudging reception from Doreen. His e-mail to me was this: We are holding off on running something that looks like native content to sell books. That was 2 months ago.Going forward, I will not be doing any media interviews with anyone. You can thank the MRT for that.
Just care about profit poor service l just had 1 simple question and l got transferred all over the place on hold for 2 hours and my paper was not delivered for a whole month and I told them and told them and everyone else on this route same thing.
