Structural engineers have a tough job, they have a lot of people to please and sometimes there isnt a definite answer without more investigative actions, such as tearing out drywall and flooring. Kurt did everything he could to help me with my property. He was honest and open and i found him very helpful!

I agree with Marc! We were buying a new home and wanted to know why the floors sloped and what we could do about it. Our realtor recommended this company. He was polite, he agreed the floors sloped. Heres the summary of his findings:A conservative engineer would say that it is possible that there is movement taking place (but earlier in the report said there was no signs of movement) that the beam in the living room maybe undersized (but there is no way to know that without taking out the ceiling). He asked for a $500 retainer and said the bill could go as high as $750! We almost fell over but thought well his report could save us thousands on the house. Then the report came, with statements like its possible and maybe the report did nothing for us, with no definitive answer. Then we got the final bill, $900: 6 hours and 72 miles, no other description! In reality it was $900 for spending an hour with us, writing a non-conclusive page and a half report, including 4 pictures. Almost $1,000 for what! It will be well worth your time to run the other direction from this company!

I am a professional architect and utilize the services of Structural Integrity, Inc. regularly and repeatedly. I have found Kurt to be extremely knowledgeable and very easy to work with. He is not necessarily the least expensive, but the results are excellent and professional.

Caveat Emptor!I scheduled Kurt via email to evaluate a small interior wall for weight bearing possibility at the suggestion of Sweeney construction. He arrived on time at 8AM. He was very polite and courteous. When he arrived I asked him, how much do I owe you, oh, $300 should do it, he replied. My wife and I were shocked because $300 seemed like a lot, but I paid him. He was at the house for less than 30 minutes. I loaned him my ladder so he could see into the attic - he did not go up into the attic. He then offered to provide an evaluation for a sliding glass door I was also adding. I honestly thought he felt bad about the $300 so he offered to help with something else. He took some laser pointer measurements and was on his way. At 12:00p that day, I received two documents via email. A sketch of the sliding glass door opening, and a form letter with my information added describing the wall to appear to be non-weight bearing and a suggestion that a contractor evaluate it further! 2 weeks later I got a bill for $696.00 more, which was broken down as 4.5 hours of work and 40 miles of travel @ $.54 a mile. He told us when at the house that he had other appointments and may not be able to get the completed report to me until that evening. Instead I got the report less than 3.5 hours after he was at my house and he charged me for 4.5 hours of work. When I called him to ask about the invoice, he told me that the $300 was a retainer, and I owed him the rest. If youre going to use this business, make sure you get a quote first and scrutinize the time quoted carefully. The work done for me couldve been completed in an hour and I had no idea where he was traveling from, but assuming it was 40 minutes of travel and 40 miles as invoiced, and his hourly rate is $150, this shouldve been less than the cost of the retainer. Considering I got the paperwork back in 3.5 hours and he had to travel to another customers location the invoice he sent me is nonsense at 4.5 hours of labor and 40 miles of travel (His office address to my house is 18.9 miles).
