$324.00 before even being taken back to a room. Waited an hour in the parking lit and another 5-10min in lobby after making payment before receiving any services. Dr. FAIRCHILD was completely rude and even said wow, oh my God as she walked out of the door. She came back to apologize after I asked for a refund and to leave due to them being rude and impatient with me. Im appalled by this visit. My dog has been waiting here for over an hour with a nail in his leg and they have shown little to no compassion and immediately start question finances. Then to be treated so poorly and have frustrations taken out on me all because they are understaffed?! This place use to be great now its really just money > animals I feel. Sad to say Ill be finding a new vet. This was it for me. Also Im being charged for an emergency visit but not being put as priority. This is insaneEDIT: after all the awful things that happened during the first part of our visit Dr Bailey came in to finish our appointment. As always very pleased with him and his nurse. At the end we were taken care of. Just wish the initial part of the visit had been as great as our short time in Dr Baileys hands. Unfortunately they have on top of everything else underestimated our vet cost as well. Only reason Im bumping up the stars on this visit is because of Dr Bailey and his nurse because they are always above and beyond with my pets and I.

Not only are they great vets (Dr. Bailey was our vet) but their staff is very friendly and kind. We recently just lost our dog Rusty and they showed so much care and compassion for my wife and i but also are dog. They let us say our good byes in one of the rooms before he was to be cremated. They said as long and as many people would like to be there. Not only did they give us that last few moments with our dog, they sent flowers and a card the next day knowing the pain we were in. They are awesome people and would recommend them to anyone who wants a new vet. Thank you for all you have done over the years for our family.

I have taken my pets to MCAH for many years and I have never doubted their care or expertise. All the staff is friendly and helpful. I have worked with all the doctors who are wonderful, but Dr Sandiford has gone above and beyond in caring for my 2 senior kitties. She is so warm and caring, answers all my questions, and always calls with test results and recommendations. MCAH is the best!❤

They all seem to care very much about the animals they see!! I believe that they do an excellent job at treating the animals well. I have only been there for simple issues but they have been good experiences. The only down side Ive seen is they are very expensive but for that extra money they seem to go the extra mile in treating the animals like the kids that to a lot of people including me, they are!!!

The staff was friendly, understanding and very supportive. They were very kind to us and made honest recommendations. We came all the way from Illinois to see them because we heard they were the best. They are.

I can’t say enough about how much the staff here helped me through one of my most difficult times. My cat unexpectedly got sick two weeks ago, I called and they got me in to see Dr. Dehnart that day. My cat was getting better at home but then began acting sick again a week later. Dr. Dehnart listened to my concerns when I called and, again, got me in that same day. Unfortunately, my cat had an aggressive cancer that had already become very serious. Dr. Dehnart was honest with me and referred me to a specialist for further testing. Sadly, my kitty could not be treated and they, once again, got my super sick cat in that same day for humane euthanasia as he was in total kidney failure. Dr. Standiford was amazing, she fully explained everything and gave me lots of time to say goodbye to my poor guy. Thank you Michigan City Animal Hospital for being so responsive and amazing during a really awful time! Words don’t do justice how appreciative I am!

Been w/ MCAH for over 20 years and four Rottweilers. Dr. Bailey and team are professional, awesome and caring. We live in Michigan but dont mind the travel to their Indiana practice. Always provide sound advice and treatment and are accommodating. I suspect would be very hard to find another practice like this - luckily we dont need to look. It will be a sad day for pets and owners when Dr. Bailey retires- hopefully not for a long time. Drs. Standiford, Fairchild and Dehnart round out the team and the staff are equally good complimenting this longstanding business. Theyve treated every single one of our Rotts w/ compassion from puppyhood to end of life. We couldnt thank them enough for being there.

The staff correctly diagnosed my cats respiratory condition, which a previous vet did not. They offer cat boarding and treat my cat like family. Facility is clean and spacious.

I love MCAH. I have a senior rescue and they are so sweet with her. I know she is getting great care. They are always on-time. My dog had some skin/allergy issues last summer and the doctor was very good figuring out what the problem was and treating it.

With in this past year I’ve been trying to treat my cats worms, I’ve been spending a lot of money trying to do so. I first took them to a different vet and they continued to have worms so I took them to the this animal hospital. I’ve treated both my cats numerous times. My cats threw up recently and I was asked to bring in the sample, I did that. Worms really freak me out! To me they looked like dried worms and I’ve seen them before. The lady called and gave me the total and I asked her about the refund because the worm medication hasn’t been working. Than someone came out and said it looked like string, but I don’t have yellow string around my house! I feel like I’m being sent in circles and no one is really helping me deal this this problem. They asked me to bring in another fecal sample. The last time I did they found nothing they said. I was under the impression I was paying for worm medication, but when I got home it was fea and tics. I’m just exhausted with the runaround and different information I receive. Each time I’m paying more and more money and I see the same results. They are all really kind but I don’t even know what to do! I guess I’m just putting this out here because I want to bring it to someone’s attention, because even with communicating it’s still a runaround!

We love Michigan City Animal Hospital. Dr. Fairchild has been my dogs Vet from the day we brought her home as a 3 months old puppy, 6.5 years ago. The Hospital is clean, modern, very well organized with amazingly responsive and caring staff. Dr. Fairchild has been willing to work with me on my minimal vaccination protocol, doing titer tests instead of automatic vaccination and not judging me for partially feeding my dog a homemade balanced raw meat diet. I am overall very pleased and would recommend this hospital to anyone.

The only Vet office I will go to, unless I need to the Emergency Clinic. There are several Veteranarians here. They are all very nice, personable, empathetic, professional and smart. It is obvious they keep up thier credentials.They are able to take care of exotic pets as well. Bring your pet here. You wont be sorry.

Dr Bailey has remained one of the best veterinarians in the area and his consultation, tests and recommendations for my cat with lymphoma are greatly valued.

They were very nice however they didnt communicate with each other. I told them what medications my dog was on & because they didnt tell the vet my dog was prescribed something that couldnt be mixed with one of his medicines. I had to give my cc # 3x because of the lack of communication. They kept trying to add things that I told them our regular vet was already taking care of but because we have been on the road for days it was difficult to keep on top of things. We were near the end of our trip & my dog got something like a little field sandbur stuck in between the pads of his paw. All I asked is for that to be removed & possibly clip his nails & it cost over $200 & thats after I said no to things because the first quote was $450. It makes you wonder if they saw out of state plates & knowing his regular vet is out of state if they saw dollar signs. The good thing I took away from this place is that they were nice & got the bur out & clipped his nails. I do appreciate that.

I just switched from a hospital in New Buffalo, MI since MCAH is in my town and is more convenient to me. I found the process of switching extremely easy as MCAH quickly requested my pets files from her previous hospital and gathered all of the data quickly and efficiently. The staff at MCAH was very timely, responsive, and courteous in their correspondence with me regarding the switch and made it so easy.My cat was boarded for 5 days and received an exam when she came in for boarding which was great that I didnt have to have the exam at a different, separate time. My cat received the exam and I was kept abreast of all that happened in the exam and was called promptly for approval of required vaccinations.I had questions regarding my cats exam and while I wasnt able to speak with the vet that completed the exam when I called, I received a call later that day from another vet, Dr. Fairchild, who kindly explained everything and answer all of my questions and more.I also found MCAHs service and business practice to be quite modern as well. The MCAH uses a very convenient text messaging system that allows me to easily and effectively communicate with the staff regarding boarding, drop-offs, pick-ups, billing, and more. As someone who appreciates modern technology, it was great to see a business taking advantage of it so well.Finally, at the time of my writing, we are in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic which complicates such business. MCAH handled this perfectly as well as all of their staff was courteously wearing masks when they interacted with us and their system for curbside service was easy and effective.All in all, I am very happy with my switch and recommend that any pet owner give MCAH a try. Im sure you will not regret it!

I worry about my guys when we are on vacation. However, it seems just when I get worried, I get a text or a photo on my phone letting me know my boys are doing well. Then, I know they are okay and it helps me not to worry about them anymore! The people who are in the kennel seem to know this. Thank you sooooooooo much!

Dr. Bailey always has an animals best interest at heart, even if the owner fails to agree. He speaks plain and doesnt sugar coat the facts. Hes very good at his practice and his medicines are similar in price to online stores.

The care was amazing and everyone super polite. I do however find it simply awful that they have credit card machines all over to take your payment as they go. It makes it feel like money is more important then your sick pet.

I changed vets and Im glad I did. We didnt have to wait for the appointment and everyone was concerned about my pets welfare and very friendly. The exam was thorough and stress free. MY dogs health issue was corrected and hopefully we wont have to go back. There is a chance of a more serious issue. I definately recommend the place for people and animals.

My pets have been clients of the Michigan City Animal Hospital for more than 18 yrs. I choose only the best for my pets..dogs, cats and the occasional snake. Everyone is consistent in their concern, the care and their ability to meet appointment requests. My only concern is the frequent turnover of support staff..but then that may be the nature of a fast paced Office personnel position.

The staff has been kind, courteous and simply the best at my appointments. They answer any and all questions. Very cat friendly, with separate rooms. The only office I will bring my pets to.

First-time visit. They were very professional spent time getting to know my dogs and learning there past history. Loved the staff.

Been using this vet for approx. the past 3 yrs, bringing over more and more of our children(pets) as we progress. They are, and have done excellent work with our geriatric pets both canine and feline. Adding Dr. Kristi Fritz certainly helped their workload Im sure but also added a good vet to the staff.

I go to MCAH for everything - vet services, boarding and grooming. I trust their judgment and their care.

The staff and doctors here truly care about my pets. I had a problem with one of my dogs and they went above and beyond for him.

This is the best facility around. The doctors are compassionate and knowledgeable. They are very thorough in their check up routines, they look for new ways to treat ailments and are cautious about prescribing medications. Steroids are not the go to drug in this hospital. The reception staff is not only, friendly ... theyre efficient! I would have given them 10 stars.

I had an amazing little dwarf hamster. She had a broken leg and I took her here, they took AMAZING care of her and even though she had to be out to sleep they did it in such a caring way! I would recommend this place to anyway!

Just recently took my miniature English bulldog there upon my bros recommendation. The entire staff and Dr Bailey were wonderful. I didnt feel rushed through so he could move on to the patient. He took the time to address and clearly explain my dogs multiple issues. Highly recommend!

Would have been one star if they werent so friendly. Stupid expensive and not up front with you. Took my 12yo retriever in with a breathing problem, $600 and three visits later I had to ask if there were any possibility of him getting any better before they would tell me he would not! Yet before that they kept wanting me to bring him back once a week for more tests! I really feel taken advantage of and that they prolonged his suffering unnecessarily!

I have been to the MCAH for several years and I will never go anywhere else. There are several animal hospitals around my area but I still drive to Michigan City for several reasons. It is clean, the staff is super friendly and kind and because of Dr Bailey and the other doctors there. I just know my pets are getting the best care there and they answer my questions. I never walk away feeling like I dont understand what is happening with my pets or that they dont know the answers. That is important to me. Thank you for all you do and how much you care!! Dr. Rex Bailey is hands down The Very Best Vet in the whole tri-state (Indiana, Michigan & Illinois) in my opinion. His knowledge, care and compassion are second to none. The staff are amazing very polite and caring and always right in the ball, you never have a response like I dont know if someone doesnt have the answer to youre question they will do their very best to help and find out. If a client needs a call back you can always depend that there will be a call back. I am so very grateful for Dr. Bailey & Michigan City Animal Hospital and its quite a drive for me but I would drive 2 or 3 times just to be sure my furbabies are properly loved and cared for.
