I found this little baby bird and called many rehabilitation centers . The only place that actually cared to help was Pelican Harbor seabird station . Though they normally only take in native birds, they didn’t turn their back on this little guy . They took him in and are aiding with his road to recovery . Very friendly and professional staff . Thank you again !

This is the only wildlife animal hospital of its kind in our area and we are so lucky to have them! The staff is incredibly dedicated to their work and the animals they treat. They also work very hard on educating the public and working with elected officials to address issues effecting wildlife in South Florida. We are proud to support this organization, time and money very well spent!

So good to know that there is a place to help all birds that may be injured! Especially this time of year. I also thought that everyone I met there from the lady checking on the cages outside, to the young lady working the front desk and the vet they were all great and quickly checking the baby bird I brought. But I also really liked how they wanted to try and see if the baby bird could survive in his own environment. So they quickly checked him out to make sure he had no broken bones or wings. They also gave me some wonderful tips which I tried once I took him back home. Unfortunately for this little tiny bird he kept falling and wouldnt respond or move once I tried to put him back. So when I took him back and explained the issues and concerns everyone was great and they made me feel like they listened to me and would take excellent care of him!

They are always kind and caring to animals I have personally brought in. They truly care about each and every animal and work towards the best interest of each animal they receive. They are also huge advocates for animal conservation and are always willing to engage in the community to share their wealth of knowledge. They are passionate about what they do and it shows! When they attended an event at my childs school (Doing Good Togethers, Family Service Fair) they taught the children about animal rehabilitation and the importance of respecting our natural environment around us. It was a great experience!

Quick question for the staff- in order to become a volunteer at the seabird station, do I need to be an expert in ornithology ? Any certifications required? I just moved here, but I live within walking distance and have visited your station twice and am very interested in volunteering if you need an extra set of hands :)

This small facility is a god-send to Miami - every person I have met there is so caring and do the very best they can for their patients. You can view their resident birds - those unable to be released, which are cared for daily by the staff and invaluable volunteers, as well as those within their rehabilitation programme. You may even be lucky enough to see them release birds which have be rehabilitated! They take in more than just pelicans or seabirds, they will take in any native species and have great relationships with other wildlife facilities to move animals to more specialist care if required.Staff and volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable, and you should definitely book a place on their monthly sunset cruise to see several species of birds on the surrounding islands.Keep up the good work - the native wildlife of Miami needs you!

Came home saw a white ibis in my yard that we badly hurt (no flight and bleeding) I called Pelican Harbor they told me they were too far to pick up. My car was in the shop for the week so I was referred to Lloyd he was out of town a girl name Amanda was taking his emergency calls, said that I had to take the bird in because they dont get paid for gas pick-up. Long story my car was in the shop as mentioned. I called back Pelican Harbor and told them how rude Amanda was regarding this situation so Pelican Harbor did the righteous act of kindness and sent an Uber car to pick up the white ibis bird. My neighbor grabbed him with a towel put him in a decent plastic bin with poked holes and off to get his wing fixed. I am impress beyond belief. You deserve a Medal of Honor. I am not a bird person, but felt horrible for this bird. In conversing with them there is a possibility that they might have to put him down. Still hoping that is not the case. Thank you for all the wonderful things you do Pelican Harbor.

Wow what an exciting day and a great job by provided by Pelican Harbor Seabird Station for Baby Oakmont Drive aka Red Shoulder Hawk.Today at approximately 2:50 pm a beautiful baby Red Shoulder Hawk was strained and helpless standing upright ( after falling out the nest) onto my North East neighbors driveway closest to the street. The stunned hawk could not move. After my truck was parked, I gently advanced towards the baby hawk and it slowly stumble under the truck a few steps away.A cardboard box, towel and other assistance materials were provided by my neighbor and together we trapped the baby Hawk and withing seconds she/he was ready to relax in the towel awaiting in the box.I contacted Pelican Harbor Seabird Station at 1279 NE 79th Street Causeway Miami, Florida and within 3 minutes of the conservation they arranged to have Baby Oakmont Drive aka Red Shoulder Hawk picked up and transported to their very fine facility. The staff was super kind, knowledgeable about the Hawks and steps necessary to ensure the best possible outcome for Baby Oakmont Drive. We all thank you Pelican Harbor!!!!!Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is a first class operation.
