DO NOT RENT A SATELLITE PHONE FROM THIS STORE UNLESS YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET RIPPED OFF.Short story: wanted something reliable for health reasons and was told Satellite was much better then cellular especially at sea.They rented me a phone for 2 weeks with a prepaid 100 minute plan.Received phone. Didn’t work. Called them and was told I needed to be outside and not in a building. Took 15 minutes to connect to satellite. Called them back and was told it should take 2 minutes or less but it could be because of the area I was in. Still in hometown but was assured at sea and internationally there be no issues.There were no issues because the phone simply didn’t work. I was on the top deck of our ship and never got reception. Everyday for the entire trip I tried to use the phone and never got a signal.For the heck of it I turned my cellular on and it actually not only worked but worked right away as Cellular at Sea. So at least I was able to communicate.Still tried Satellite daily and it did not work until one time on land international- got a signal but couldn’t make a call.Contacted company day after I returned and told them what happened. I sent the phone back to them. They said they’d have to see if their were technical issues. I said no calls were made/received and I used my cell phone instead at a close to the same rate (a little higher).I waited 5 days. They ignored messages, I believe they purposely put me on hold so I’d hang up and they forced me to dispute the charge.They replied with “Customer must contact us in 48 hours if there is a technical issue or no refunds would be issued.” First of all I contacted them the day I got the phone with the concern and they said I would have no issue at sea. It never worked once at sea!When I returned from the trip, I contacted them the day after to let them know and instead of acknowledging the phone didn’t work they are just saying I didn’t contact them (which isn’t true) and that’s why they don’t have to give me my money back.SO FOR $200.00 - THEY SCAMMED ME. I wonder how many other people they do this to and probably most people just say nothing. I plan to file with Consumer Affairs Fraud and sue them in small claims court.100% STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. It is a fraud and they are selling / renting phones that simply don’t work.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I rented a satellite cell phone from them and pre-paid for 100 minutes. I was going to Mexico and although never had a satellite phone felt I needed something that was going to be 100% reliable especially being on the ocean.I received the phone and in my home state, it took approximately 15 minutes for the phone to connect to their satellite. This was outside, clear view of the sky, etc.Once connected I ended the call and called their customer service for the second time. The first time I called it was for the fact it did not work at all even though I was near a window.Anyway the second time I called I explained it took 15 minutes to get a signal and it concerned me because waiting 15 minutes to connect means that I wouldn’t be able to make and receive calls really when I wanted.I was assured that especially were I was traveling the service was great as long as I was in an unobstructed view to the sky. Knowing that the top tier of a cruise ship gives you an unobstructed view, I was fine with that.After our ship left port, I tried to make a call about two hours after sailing. The phone couldn’t even connect to the Satellite. I actually stayed on the top deck for a few hours enjoying some conversation with a friend so it was fine but noticed during the entire time the phone never connected to the satellite.Because of the two minute delay to connect to a satellite before I left on the trip, I made dates/times for people to call me. Obviously that plan failed because the only time I was able to use the phone was on land in Mexico.During the trip I wasn’t able to make or receive one telephone call!By the way, I ended up having to use my Verizon cell phone and got charged all sorts of additional fees because had I added international calling and cellular at sea, I wouldn’t of been charged as much. And the only reason I didn’t use Verizon was I was told the Satellite phone worked much better.I have to say my cellular phone worked just about everywhere and even allowed me to access the internet! So I used a VOIP service, connected to the internet and tried to save as much money as I could.Also everyday I tried to see if the satellite phone worked. Never did at sea.After calling the company the day after returning and telling them the issue their response was for me to send the phone back and they would see if there were technical issues.I said that’s fine. I paid for shipping to get the phone sent Fedex to me and then I sent the phone back to them by FedEx.I told them I would wait 5 days until disputing it with my credit card company.Not only did they not reply, they ignored my calls and even hung up on me. I believe they have caller ID because when I called I’d experience wait times of 20 minutes and then just hang up. If I dialed from a different phone number, especially not from my state their sales team would pick up right away.I disputed the transaction with my credit card company. Their response was he checked off the Terms & Conditions of renting a satellite phone which specifically were:If the phone doesn’t work, customer must contact us within 48 hours of receipt.That was their only reason for not issuing a credit. So obviously they see no calls were made/received, I did in fact call them the day I received the phone by Fedex two times and this is how they treat their customers?All I can say is:- Stay far away from this company for Satellite rental phones. I think it’s a semi-scam.- Check reviews online for your cellular company. You might be surprised to know that while I used Verizon, especially at sea when I could get a signal it was extremely clear and no dropped calls. On land in other countries....no issues.I can’t compare the Satellite phone because IT NEVER WORKED.And shame on this company over $200.00 they are fighting me and making up stories to try and scam me out of the money. What they don’t know is I reside in Florida and plan to take them to small claims court if they want to play this game.
I guess I should have read reviews before renting from this company. We rented one of their Iridium phones for 1 week, and NEVER EVEN USED IT. I rented the phone from Sept 30th-Oct 7th and it was mailed back WITH TRACKING on Oct 7th. They are now trying to slap me with a past-due invoice of $150 because they didnt receive it until the 15th. The item was mailed back on the 7th day, I paid extra to provide tracking information to provide to SATPHONESORE that it was returned in a timely fashion and in the time period it was rented for, but they said it arrived late. I paid $75 to rent the phone I never used and now want to charge me more... I dont think so!

Horrible customer service. Once they have your CC they will continue to bill you even after the account is closed, which they make very, very hard to do. Their charges were flagged repeatedly by MasterCard as a fraudulent transaction on my card. Hmm I wonder why? They do however put a lot of energy into threatening you with collection if you dispute any of their charges. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
I ordered an iridium go predict wind package. That all showed as I would expect on time. Everything was shipped.Got back to the boat and wanted turn it all on and set it up. But three days later and Im still waiting for someone to finish initializing the Sim card.....I guess?Seems like it should take about 30 seconds or so to do. The little ladies in the tin huts on the islands can activate and top a Sim card in about ten seconds. I paid you guys close to 300 dollars USD a month and they can not get it done in 3 days.Need to step up your game.

These guys will prey on uninformed people who bring in used equipment to have it activated, telling them that their functional used handset is not working (even when it is) so they can make a sale at two or three times the price of the used handset.I’m guessing they sit there and put on a show to pretend it’s not able to make a phone call when they are indoors, and the phone wouldn’t necessarily function properly anyway since it does not have line of sight with the sky.But hey, anything to make the sale, right?
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received through this company. I wanted to order a satellite phone to have on my week long trip through Canyonlands in case of any emergencies. When I received my original phone it did not work. They attempted to help troubleshoot over the phone, but could not get it to work. They then offered to ship one overnight to Moab to arrive on Saturday 6/2/2018. I actually do appreciate their efforts and everything was great up until this point. However, they shipped it overnight (not Saturday delivery) and a replacement phone did not arrive until 6/4/2018. At this point it was already too late since I was already in Canyonlands on my trip and would not have access to a phone again until 6/9/2018. I am thankful nothing happened and there were no emergencies during this week, but it would have been great to have just in case. Not to mention that not having a phone in a harsh and remote environment such as Canyonlands could have been potentially dangerous if anything had happened.I understand things happen and generally try to be patient and understanding when unforeseen events like a phone not working happen. They tried to make the situation better by sending an overnight replacement phone, but failed to make sure it was a Saturday delivery. Honestly, the most frustrating part was the lack of Customer Service. When I tracked the replacement order on FedEx and realized that the phone would not be there until Monday and I immediately called on 6/1/2018 to try and get this corrected. I spoke to a representative on Friday. It was towards the end of the day and it sounded like the representative just wanted to get me off of the phone as soon as possible so that she can go home for the day. I was hung up on the first time and when I called back I got the same representative. She made it very clear the phones were about to be shut off, but she would follow up with me later to see if the shipment could be changed. I never got a follow up call and again I am convinced she was just trying to get me off the phone at that point. It would have been better if she had called and let me know the phone would not be there on Saturday instead of no follow up at all. I would have been disappointed, but would have appreciated the efforts.I originally went with this company because they have great prices on rentals. However, I would MUCH rather pay more and have equipment that works and decent customer service. I would caution anyone considering this company. You get what you pay for.
I received the phone by the scheduled day we were supposed to leave on the trip. (Monday) However when speaking to the operator during the ordering process I requested a delivery date of the Friday before and scheduled to receive the phone via Fed Ex and I was paying the increased cost to avoid the phone coming on the day of travel. No harm as Fed Ex came early but annoying because I did not want to receive on the day of travel. Next time I will order phone earlier.
I had a very bad experience with this company. I was in a rush to set up an Iridium GO account to use to retrieve wx information for an offshore sailboat race - I only had a few days to set things up - when I old the sales rep that he initial sarcastic response was Ok, only 3 days? This should be fun. I probably should have looked elsewhere at that point but I proceeded.A short list of the problems that ensued: They activated the SIM card but never sent me the account configuration/setup needed to access all parts of the service. I could not get through to anyone before leaving on the trip, so all we could do with the Iridium was SMS. My wife (on shore) tried calling several times and left several messages but no one got back to her. After the trip I tried to cancel the service but the company repeatedly charged my credit card. I had to go through AmEx (multiple times) to finally get the charges reversed.Very bad experience from sales, to support, to billing. For my next trip I used Global Marine Networks service and they have been excellent.2018.03.12 - just noticed that the store replied to my post suspecting that I was confusing them for another company. Ive attached a photo of one of my invoices to remove any doubt that this is the case. I am only inspired to write reviews when service is particularly good or particularly bad. SatPhoneStore had multiple opportunities to make this situation right. If they attempted to look me up and could not find me as claimed, its probably fair to add poor bookkeeping to the list of complaints.I was out in the ocean with a safety device that I could not fully use, simply because no one was available to help met set it up. That sort of situation leaves a strong impression.
