Our Dog, Daisy May, had to have her spleen removed not as an emergency but as a precaution for any future health issues. Our local vet had to refer us out of our area for this surgery because our vet has no overnight care. This invasive surgery requires an overnight stay. We FORTUNATELY were referred to Southeast Veterinary Referral Center and to her surgeon Dr. Daubs. After meeting with Dr. Daubs, we felt confident and reassured that Daisy was in good hands for her surgery. Daisys surgery went very well, she is a brave little doggie : ). The vet nurse, Rey, that took care of her was amazing and caring. He was very informative and understanding to any questions we asked even after Daisy returned home for her recovery. Thank you to all the staff for the pleasant communication every step of the way. Shout out again for REY! Thank you for being there and returning calls almost immediately to Daisy Mays Mom and Dad! As said she is doing GREAT and back to her normal everyday routine only 2 weeks after surgery! : )) Leslie and Jack Brier

I will not take my dog back to this place. They are fast to take your money and slow to return calls or give you any feedback. Very unorganized, poor communication between pet owner and doctors/nurses. I took my dog in for an abdomen review that was recommended by my dog’s primary care. When I arrived for pick up, a nurse came out, handed me my dog and receipt for payment. Did not discuss anything with me about the diagnostic test my dog had completed and I was not provided with results or given a time frame as to when I would have results. I was told that the doctor and nurse that complete the consultation would call me and they did not. It’s funny how they were very quick to collect payment for services but then had horrible customer service and communication. Being that we are now having to do things differently as far as drop offs due to COVID precautions, there should be better communication between staff and pet owners. I’ve been calling everyday and send daily emails for a week with no return calls or email from Dr Lynn That’s just wrong! I do not recommend this place!

I couldn’t be happier with Stella’s results and I will forever recommend this place.

Although this place is open 24-7 and quick to get you in, they are slow in every other facet. They will be quick to get your pet and take over 2 hours to return your pet to you. They charge a huge amount, our initial quote was 4000$+. They are quick to nickel and dime you for every emergency expense. I feel the amount of care my pet got there was proportional to how much I paid. So since I told them I couldnt pay 4000 dollars and would take my pet and go.. the bill suddenly became a bit more manageable 900$. My pet was to be ready at 7pm, no later than 8pm. We got our pet at 10pm. They are too expensive, offer poor care for your pet and are extremely slow service. Find another place!

I was recommended this place to perform a ct scan for my dog. My initial call was great and very informative. However, I was told one thing on the phone and quoted a certain price. Once I arrived and my dog was seen they quoted almost 3 times the price. I declined all extra charges as all I needed was for my dog to get evaluated to perform the ct scan. I was given more information and set up the ct scan for that Monday and was quoted a price. I arrive on Monday and was told a completely different price as now they needed to perform other exams on my dog before they could do the ct scan in which in my previous conversation they advised it was recommended not required but morning of the ct scan now it became required. Understanding the reasoning why they needed to perform the additional test I agreed, however, agreed only the circumstances with the price being reduced as the communication from this veterinary clinic is very poor. Had they told me from the beginning what was required the outcome would have been very different. They tend to tell you one thing and then once you’re there they paint a completely different picture. My dog completed his ct scan on June 29th. When I picked him up they advised the doctor would call me within days to discuss the results. It is now July 14th and I am still waiting for a call back. I’ve called numerous times and my last phone call I inquired if the doctor was going to call me back the response I received was “she has all your messages you’ve left so I’d imagine she would”. A-class customer service. If you can choose a different place for your pet, I would highly recommend to do so.

I do not know where to begin all I can say is if it wasn’t for Southest veterinary referral center I would not have my little guy. It definitely left a huge imprint in my heart might sound a little cheesy but my dog is my child. My pup was only nine weeks old little French bulldog my first dog ever owned. within 72 hours of me having my pup he became very sick very ill and lethargic he would not stop vomiting so it was normal for me to freak out. I immediately started searching the web I needed to take my pup in to the urgent care came across their page immediately called them and told them what was going on and they told me to bring him in. Long story short my dog was diagnosed with Parvo at nine weeks they were very honest and told me the positive and negative they told me it was gonna be a hard 24 to 72 hours of admission. I am beyond grateful for the team every single time there was a change in shift doctors, nurses... etc I would always get a phone call on any status changes whether his vitals were OK they were normal they were improving. I can’t thank the team enough they definitely put me at ease at such a traumatic and scary time. I was able to pick up my pup after a week and a half of him being admitted and he was stronger than ever and honestly I will forever recommend Southeast veterinary referral center!Balou Blue

Avoid this place at all costs!! Like most dog owners, my dog is my life and went to the surgery team unable to walk. First, after waiting over an hour to be seen, a nurse comes and takes my dog who is unable to walk and drags him into the hospital instead of just picking up my 35 pound dog. Next, he’s seen for two hours with no updates from the Dr. Lin until she calls and says she’ll email me all the details in a few hours. They didn’t ask me for permission before anything and just charged my card $200. Later that night, I get an email saying the issues is bigger then they thought and I’ll hear back next week. No other details were provided. A week later she emails me saying the surgery team is full for the next few months and I should go see another surgeon. This whole time my pet is crying and unable to walk. Now I’m behind weeks waiting for another appointment with zero explanation of whatever issues SVRC found with my pet. If you care about your pet at all, DO NOT GO HERE.

I worked as a veterinarian at the affiliated emergency service when this practice first opened. We took care of their patients overnight and transferred additional patients to them in the morning. The specialists are highly trained, extensively experienced and doing it for the right reasons - they genuinely care about their patients and are seriously committed to helping them. I am a better vet for having had the opportunity to work with this group and, despite now having my own practice in a different part of the country, still sometimes call to speak with one of the specialists when I have a question about something unusual. Very rarely, I have even had reason to refer my own patients (whose owners have been in the area) to this practice for advanced care. It’s always a good feeling knowing that they are going someplace that will take great care of them.

What an abysmal excuse for a veterinary practice. I have never had such a horrible lack of care ever! There are no emergency vets in the Keys, so I drove in the middle of the night to receive care for my cat. My cat is 1 1/2 years old and was experiencing a urinary blockage, which is fatal in male cats if not treated in a timely fashion. I arrived at SVRC at 1am, told them of my cats symptoms, and that I knew he needed an immediate catheter. SVRC had my cat for TWO HOURS and quoted me for a $4000 surgery tp reroute his urethra instead of actually TREATING THE EMERGENCY AT HAND! I was mortified. They did NOTHING TO TREAT OR CARE FOR MY CAT AT ALL. I eventually demanded my cat back and drove to the vet in Marathon (they open at 7am and IMMEDIATELY treated my cat). When getting my cat back from SVRC, they warned me his bladder might explode... THEN WHY WOULDNT YOU GIVE MY CAT A CATHETER FOR A TIME SENSITIVE ISSUE!?Do NOT bring your animal here. Incompetent staff looking to price gouge for unnecessary, irrelevant procedures. Zero stars and waste of money and precious time.

I called and asked about these outrageous charges and they would put me on hold several times and then hang up on me twice. I had to go there and knock on the front door. A guy came out and asked me what I wanted and I explained to him the problem and showed him the charges on my credit card. Then this rude lady with blue hair came out and began to yell at me saying that she was not going to talk to me. I had to remind her that she hung up on me twice and told her that I was not going to leave until I was refunded the money because I had the receipt with the exact amount on it. She left and the guy was the one who helped me and talked to the supervisor because at that point I was going to call the police. It took them a week later to refund me fully. Charged me before even being seen/attended/serviced and had me waiting over an hour curbside with my extremely lethargic 4-week old puppy. A fecal that takes less than 30secs to get a Sample and 30 mins for results anywhere else.... after an hour of patience I called and asked that the $160 charge on my card be refunded because I am leaving. They said I needed to sign a form before leaving to authorize the refund. In order not to wait another hour or waste another second there, I had to personally knock on the door of the lobby to sign the paper and leave. Such time-sensitive situations require immediate care. I Drove to another 24/7 emergency vet, I was attended immediately and was actually provided with care and service.

My elderly dog was basically pooping blood on a Saturday night and I decided to take him here. Customers are still required to wait curbside, theres a sign with the number. The wait wasnt terribly long like other reviews state, we waited about half an hour or so. During that time we saw a staff member who asked questions and informed us of the consultation fee of $119. Once I met with the vet he told me my dog had to have an ultrasound and tests to rule out infections etc. Also Id have to keep him over night with an iv and drugs for nausea and antibiotics. The vet told me to decide what i wanted because he didnt want to write up a ton of different quotes. I opted for the midrange service and was quoted $1200.00 for the first day. My dog has a history of pancreatitis and I know the treatment is not cheap. I declined the service because all the tests that the vet wanted to run were not necessary. Knowing that my dog has had pancreatitis, a pancreatitis test should be the first test needed to rule that out. I waited for another vet to open and sure enough my dog had pancreatitis and was treated for two days for $800.00. I understand emergency service has is expensive and sometimes you need it. We were surprised at the impersonal disposition of the vet that we were referred to see here, Dr. Carro. She repeatedly and systematically referred to our cat as It which we found to be profoundly heartless in and of itself, but then we got her back, it was the first time our little girl was ever literally and emotionally shaking from a vet visit. We will never go back here. Its worth mentioning that there was a covid outbreak in the hospital itself at some point which resulted in us having to find restroom facilities elsewhere despite a $1,300 bill. The price was expected, and we have pet insurance, but the disposition toward us and our pet was not. Our recommendation is to seek care elsewhere. We found a caring doctor up in Broward that we are happy to travel to.It pays to bring your furry family who to a good doctor. I was referred by my veterinarian for diagnostic testing because my dog was not improving from treatment of a what we thought was a UTI. I agreed to what the vet recommended and the vet was very nice. I discovered my dog of 11 years had bladder cancer. I was satisfied with the services from the center that day. My issue is 10 days later, I called and requested to speak with the vet regarding an alternative drug for my dog as the drug prescribed was making my dog sick. I did not get a return call. I called the second day again requesting to speak with the vet. My call was transferred to an employee as which point I was told the vet on call was not familiar with my case. I explained I just wanted a different drug as my dog was not responding well to the one prescribed. She said the vet that saw my dog was not there and they could not call him, but that I could make an appointment and basically start over again. I was told the vet that saw my dog was in the office the first day I called and I told her this. Not only did my dog have cancer, she was sick. I was so frustrated and in near tears at this point. I guess my previous visit 10 days earlier at a cost of $1200 was not enough to speak with a vet about changing the meds. In addition, I called the cancer center that partners with them and they offered my dog an appointment a month later. The person on the phone said, don’t be alarmed by the date because I am going to get your dog seen sooner as this is a difficult cancer to treat. I got an appointment with an oncologist in less than a week with Miami Veterinary Services (MVS). The manner in which they handled my request to speak with the vet and help my sick dog with a simple medication change was disappointing and unacceptable.

This is the worst possible 24hr vet service experience you could possibly be subject to. DO NOT GO HERE! After estimating the wait time to be 2 to 3hrs, it became 4 1/2 hrs. Then another hour before I got my estimate, which was $1039! Then another 2hrs for them to do an x-ray and examination. Total 7.5 hours, and it would have been even longer if I had not finally demanded to confiscate my dog without the diagnosis. Every time I walked up to the front door, there were 4 to 5 people standing around doing nothing. One phone call to the front desk was answered by an extremely rude and condescending woman, horrible. Not what you want when you are worried about your pet. Only once during the 7.5 hours did someone call me....basically to collect the credit card info. My dog was vomiting and had diarrhea. The meds they gave me were $250! They only read the x-ray after I insisted, and I still do not have the results of the imaging they supposedly performed. They did not find the reason for his sickness. STAY AWAY!!!! I hope this review will keep you from going through what I went through. STAY AWAY!!!

When my dog presented signs that something was wrong with him, I - new in the area - rushed to this ER facility at Dixie Highway. First try, a long line at night made me wait till the other day. My dog continued to show a lot of stress, breathing heavily and shaking his head constantly. Today, I arrived as early as I could, followed the instructions and checked-in close to 3:15PM. It is now 5:26PM, and no one came to check the dog in the car (we have to wait outside due to Covid) and after 2 calls to the receptionists, the only answer I got is “you have to wait”. And so as I wait and reflect that even though this is a nice building, possibly with good vet doctors, its customer care team is horrible and might destroy the business reputation. But who is looking at this? Who cares? I bet no one as the 4 to 5 ladies in the front office keep staring at customers as they were bothering their tranquil and laid back jobs. Awful experience and I do not recommend. Do not be fooled by the nice look of the building.

SVRC in South Miami on U. S. 1 has treated many of my cats since 2011. Most visits have been emergencies, though a few were scheduled appointments. Ive never had to wait long when a cat was critical, since their triage process is excellent. My cat Laris recently spent 15 nights (over a 20 day-period) at SVRC where Dr. Carro, Dr. Fuentes, and the staff ran tests, refined their diagnosis, and identified the most-likely medical issues.Note: both doctors carefully explained my options in lieu of operating on Laris immediately to help alleviate costs (e.g., further ultrasounds, different medications/treatments) - which I appreciated ... but I had already estimated the cost, and wanted to alleviate his discomfort immediately.A surgeon operated on Laris, examined his lower intestine and pancreas, sampled a dozen biopsies, and stitched him up nicely. The SVRC staff monitored his recovery continuously, and I was able to visit Laris every day for almost 7 hours at a time. He responded very well to post-op treatment, and evidently expected everyone to pet him, kiss him, etc. Laris!Note: Dr. Carro and Dr. Fuentes identified Laris two issues: a compromised pancreas and an irritable bowel situation (fortunately, medications and B-12 shots will help him absorb much-need vitamins and minerals so he can regain his lost weight.Laris is at home recovering nicely, though he still has a feeding tube until he bulks up again. I am so pleased with his treatment at SVRC. The staff is always accommodating, even when its a hectic day/evening. The doctors always forward Laris treatments to my regular vets at South Kendal Animal Clinic.Expensive? Fifteen nights, 24/7 attention/treatment, RX administration every 2-4 hours, changing IVs, taking blood daily, testing blood samples daily, changing dressings, etc. It adds up - quickly. But Laris is responding positively, and thats what matters. If I couldnt afford to take one of my cats to SVRC, then I wouldnt have any cats.In sum, if your animal has a medical emergency of any kind, please take them to SVRC for immediate treatment. I have 20 cats, and I would not hesitate to take any one of them to SCVR, day or night, for an emergency.

The team at SVRC Pet Emergency Room is outstanding even amidst the constraints everyone is facing with the COVID19 pandemic. We took our 2 female german shepherds in after they got involved in a scuffle that resulted in facial and neck lacerations on one dog and an injured paw on the other. They were organized and handled both dogs with kindness and compassion. Dr. Cluett explained everything that was needed so both dogs could be on the mend soon along with detailed instructions about medication and follow up. Their fees were reasonable and everything was set forth clearly. I appreciated the extra step of recommending behavioral training for both dogs to address their growing aggression towards one another and thankfully, we are well on our way to remedying that situation. I highly recommend the team at SVRC for emergency care.

If I could give it zero stars, I would. This place is terrible. We had to take our dog here after hours because our vet was closed. Our yorkie was behaving very weird and my husband and I were very worried and scared. We were the only people there once we arrived. A tech came out to the waiting room and asked us what was wrong. We explained and he performed a quick physical test right there. He placed her on the floor and she started walking all over the place bumping her head against everything which is what she was doing at home. She wouldn’t listen to anyone when called her name. She would just continue walking nonstop. He checked her eyes and determined right there she appeared to be blind. It really scared us to hear this as we had no idea what was going on with her. He immediately took her inside for the doctor to see her. About 45 minutes later another tech came outside with some papers. She started explaining what the cost of the treatment would be and told us she needed to be hospitalized. We asked her how she was doing and what they found so far. She said “we haven’t checked her yet”. We asked “so where is she?” She replied “in the back”. We said “so you guys took her back there 45 minutes ago in serious conditions and you haven’t even checked her.” Her response was “we have been busy doing other things”. Our dog who appeared to all of the sudden have lost her eyesight, had been under their care for 45 minutes and they hadn’t even taken a look at her. I imagine they took her to the back put her in a cage and just left her there pacing all over the small cage. Can you image? Yet here this tech was talking about hospitalization and a bill when they don’t even know what’s wrong and haven’t even tried to find out yet. We were furious and asked her to bring our dog to us. Someone else came outside to talk to us but we didn’t care to hear anything from anyone. We just wanted our baby to get out of that place. We signed some papers and took her somewhere else. I remember the drive to the other place. My husband and I were both crying out of desperation thinking about the time we had lost sitting in that empty waiting room meanwhile they weren’t even taking care of her. At the other hospital she was quickly taken care of. It turns out her brain was getting swollen do to an infection circulating in her bloodstream. The swelling was causing her to loose her eyesight. She was treated with medication to stop the swelling and antibiotics for the infection. She had to be hospitalized because she became unresponsive. They attached her to an IV to give her fluids. She was unresponsive for 3 days. At one point we were approached by the doctor who had no hope of her getting out of that state. We refused to let her go and decided to continue waiting. It was heart breaking seeing her like that. Even though she looked lifeless, we felt she was there and just needed time. To the doctor’s surprise, she woke up and ate solid food and recovered quickly. Even her eyesight returned to normal. We refused to loose hope. I would never recommend Southeast Veterinary Referral Center or The Pet Emergency Room which is another name they go by to anyone and if there is anyone going through any situation with them currently my best recommendation is to get out of there now! Who knows what could have happened to our baby if we would have stayed there. They are only interested in people’s money. It’s really sad and heartless.

What an amazing place. We rushed our 4.5yr old golden doodle down to SVRC last weekend with very shallow breathing and very lethargic. Even though we didnt do bloodwork, the dr was convinced that our dog had quite possibly eaten some marujuana on our daily walk that morning. Thanks to all the Spring Breakers we have here on Miami Beach littering our paths and beaches. We spent five hours down there and they sent Rex home sedated and ask that he sleep it off. The next day he was good to go. Thank you to the whole team for what they did.

If you want your pet cremated in a group without your permission where you get no ashes or anything, then this is the right place. And Janet P is the office manager that is to blame. This place has a second name that operates as the same business: The Pet Emergency Room (so I made a review there too). What happened:We found our little dog Oliver unresponsive and rushed him here because they were open 24 hours. Because of covid-19 we had to hand him over to the employees and wait outside. After some time, they came out and informed us that he had passed. We went home heart broken and were told we had 3 days to let them know our wishes for his body. Two days later I called to let them know and they told me that it was too late, there was some mistake and Oliver was gone and what was worse is that for some reason the only person to have the full info on what happened was Janet P who was not available. We spent a month calling and leaving messages for Ms. Perales. She never responded. It was a nightmare being left in the dark about Oliver for a month. We just didn’t know what to do. After more than a month of being given the runaround, Janet finally admitted that someone forgot to put our dog on hold and he was cremated in a group without our permission even though they had all our contact information. We are beyond devasted. Do not trust this facility with your pets. We have nothing left of our baby.

Jessica / Jennifer was so kind and compassionate to us when we arrived at 2am. It was so scary for me I forget which is her name! My cat sliced his tongue trying to get his Seresto collar off, as it looped onto his lower jaw and I didn’t realize the extent to the damage done until the next day when he was yawning and I saw his tongue. She showed me how he was healing, explained mouth injuries, and brought him back to the vet to determine if he needed antibiotics right away or not. The vet said that they didn’t want to take my money as it would be more expensive than our regular vet and suggested that I wait and keep monitoring and could take him to our normal vet when they opened in a couple of days since it was healing fine. I was sooo relieved that 1. It wasn’t as big an emergency as anticipated and 2. That we didn’t have to spend a fortune.

After 3 hours of the staff telling me I was next they then told me it would be a couple more hours to be seen. I have waisted 3 hours of critical time only for them to tell me they are very busy and not sure how many more hours I would wait. They then told me they confused my dogs file with someone else and that he was not next on the list as they had been telling me. WORST PLACE EVER! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!!!!

As far as their veterinary care is concerned, they rate hundreds of stars-not just 5. The care and concern for my pets was excellent by all the staff doctors. Ive taken my cats there for years, and I can only praise how knowledgeable the vets are and the concern they have shown for my pets AND FOR ME . Because Nervous Nelly pales in comparison to me. Dr. Fuentes has been a God-send to me and my cats. She has always taken the time to call me and/or sit with me on a timely basis to let me know what was going on. Shes always listened to my concerns over my cats condition and has patiently explained each condition in such detail that I had no questions thereafter. Although I hope I dont have to visit with her again, it gives me peace of mind to know shes there. On the negative side: they are very expensive and the phone service and parking lot leave a lot to be desired.

No stars... I had the worst experience at this place. They have no empathy or compassion for the dogs and the owners. This is supposed to be an “emergency” clinic but they have no intention in answering the phones. They put me on hold as soon as called and didn’t even say “hold on” or “we will be with you right back.” When they finally answered the phone, they asked me to take my dog to the clinic and call them again from the parking lot. I called them as soon as I got there with my dog but again, no intention in answering the phone. I walked to the front door and there was an employee so I asked her if I had to register and she said “yes but you have to call. So I told her, that’s what I’m doing right now but hey are not answering the phone. I could see through the glass door that they were there. After around 20 minutes, the employee that was outside got in the clinic and told them to answer the phone. They finally answered my call, and before even seeing my dog, they asked me for my credit card number. No interest whatsoever in asking me what’s wrong with the dog. I finally told them “this is unacceptable and just left. I called another clinic in Kendall and they took my dog right away.

My dog began with his symptoms Sunday afternoon and we kept an eye on him throughout the day. I contacted my vet friend about my doggo and she gave me some advice but expressed that it may be necessary for him to go to the emergency vet, when I did, at around 8 pm, the wait time wasn’t crazy and they started off by being helpful and hearing me out. However, once my dogs “results” came in, I shared them with my vet friend and she advised me to not hospitalize and what meds to ask for. Knowing my friend wouldn’t advise me wrongfully, I began to tell my doctor what my choice was as into not hospitalizing and asking for the meds my friend asked. I was very respectful and obviously in distress for my baby. The doctor very rudely, aggressively and with no professionalism in her tone or words told me “Ma’am your dog is very sick and WILL die and you will be to blame, this is not a McDonald’s, you can’t have it your way and I won’t be providing those meds. Your dog is extremely sick and he will die. You’re going to have to sign a paper disclosing that you are going against doctors orders” While I understand having to sign the waiver and going against doctors orders isn’t necessarily the best thing, there was absolutely no reason for the doctor to speak to me the way she did. There are ways to express the gravity of a situation without causing more distress or pressure to the pet owner. “ ma’am, I would really advise you to reassess as your dog is extremely ill” “ ma’am, I highly recommend you follow orders” “ ma’am, I understand your wishes, you will have to sign a waiver that you’re going against doctors advice though.” Literally anything was better than the way she spoke to me. You never know someone’s financial situation and to shame them for their choices is just plain awful. Especially now during this pandemic. I am happy to say it has now been 5 days since and my dog is good and recovering very healthily ( I took him to another vet, in which they did not find the same severity of his pancreatitis) I am lucky to have had my friend guide me though this process and reassure me however I find it absolutely sickening and disgusting because looking back it feels very scam-like and that they just wanted me to pay the ridiculous hospitalization fee. I will never recommend this place unless needed as an absolute last resort.

This was my first time ever going to Southeast Veterinary and given the nature of my dogs state I had no choice but to leave him there overnight and to be followed the next day with surgery. My 14 year old dogs hip became dislocated during a grooming session. I was so distraught throughout this whole process, not to mention handing over my Injured dog to a technician I’d never met in the parking lot, since we are not allowed in with our dogs. As I waited outside, I became more uneasy once I had received the call from the dr confirming that he would in fact need surgery. Naturally, I started to google for reviews, and saw a number of negative reviews. I was so uneasy and scared that I was going to have to leave my sweet boy in a place that I did not know and whose only feedback I knew were these reviews that were not putting me at ease. I felt I had no choice but to leave him and trust blindly, even though my heart and my stomach were in knots.I cannot tell you one bad moment I had with any staff member there. They were all AMAZING, CARING, ATTENTIVE, PATIENT, ... I could go on forever. I am beyond pleased and thankful to every single staff member that I spoke to or dealt with and there were several. Dr. Daubs was a phenomenal and caring surgeon. I could seriously write a book of how great he was and the entire staff! Everyone quickly put me at ease with how attentive and thorough they were. I can agree it was expensive then again, hip surgery, X-rays, bloodwork etc... I did not expect it to be cheap no matter the facility and I did wait along time But I was at an ER not at a drive thru. As frantic as I was during all of this, I knew my dog was not the only one in need of attention. Not to discredit anyone else’s experience if they were negative but what are the chances that I dealt with atleast 7-8 different people there over the course of 48 hours and they were all positive experiences? Not to mention I received a follow up call to check on Joey. This place honestly rocks and I am so grateful to everyone for the love and care they gave Joey. I would highly highly recommend this place 🙏🏼❤️🤗

The only downside is that they are a very busy place and difficult to get an answer but one ER vet made a point to call and update us on the radiology exams. The amount of volume for very sick animals is incredible. Our dog has recovered and we want to thank the SVRC for their service. Would recommend again for any emergency call.

My dog had hernia surgeries and neutered at this hospital requiring a one week stay. I took him on a Sunday and he had surgery 4 days later and a second surgery 2 days after totaling 4 incisions on his small body. The first two nights my dog was at the hospital was a bit rough for me, the surgeon did explain the procedures which sounded very complicated and hard for me to understand. The first 2 nights I was nervous wanting to know how my dog was doing while he waited for surgery because I wasn’t going to give up on him, but waiting for someone to communicate back to me was nerve wracking . I got to speak to a lady at the front desk about my anxieties regarding my dog, and from there on everything was great, a very nice doctor I can’t remember his name called me everyday with updates about my dog. The nurse Rey was very nice and always answered all my questions. A special thanks in particular to Stephany a kind young lady who understood my worries keeping me informed about my baby, and finally thanks to Dr Daubs for surgeries well done, my dog is up and running like he never had anything done. So far I am so happy with the results.

Overall I was very disappointed with the care my cat received at Pet ER. I brought in my cat who was very sick early Saturday morning. She had mucus discharge, wasnt eating or drinking but was still at a healthy weight. The first doctor I dealt with was very honest with her assessment and recommended that I should consider putting my cat down based on symptoms she was seeing (she was an elderly cat of 16 years). After consulting with my parents (we basically were co parents to the cat) we decided to leaver her for 2 nights to receive fluids, Oxygen, antibiotics, tests ect... Knowing it was a slim chance, but maybe they would find that she only had a severe respiratory infection.I was switched to another doctor the next day, they ran a series of tests. They found fluid in her lungs and her blood work came back with good results other than a high white blood cell count. They said that her nasal discharge had cleared up. They also said she had no heart problems, they had made it sound she was doing much better. It is now the following Tuesday, and I receive a call that they ran a sample of the fluid and found she had cancer markers in the fluid. We decided based on this information to pick her up the following morning to put her down at out family Vet.When I picked her up, SHE WAS LITERAL SKIN AND BONES, AND HER FACE WAS COVERED IN MUCUS. THEY ALSO LEFT HER IV IN THE RIGHT ARM. They WERE NOT at all honest about her condition. She clearly was not improving. Had I KNOWN this, I would have opted to euthanize her MUCH sooner, not to mention the condition in which they returned her to me.We ended up euthanizing our cat at home, as she was to weak TO EVEN STAND without losing her balance.I am very disappointed in this hospital. I believe the 1st doctor was very Honest and had all the best intentions. The FOLLOW up information I received from other nurses and doctor was WILDY inaccurate and not at all honest. THEY WERE RECCOMENDING TO SEND HER TO ONCOLOGY FOR FURTHER TESTS... IN THAT CONDITION....I am only giving them a 2 star because of the 1st doctor I dealt with.

Then they call saying that he needed to give him lots of fluids and it will cost $800. i told them i did have that kind of money they then asked how much could i give i had $300 so they lets see wat we can do. Later they com back and that he needs to stay over nite for a few days and yhat wiil cost $2000 again itold them i dont have so they kinda force to apply for care credit for me to apply on my phone. i could get thru they said they woould someone came with a clipboard with sn app and the request was for $4000. I asked so what are my dog chances of surviving after i pay and they could answer so declined to to do it i asked what woukd be tge next step rhey said humanely put him down they brought him outside i could see him one last time then like 5 min some else comes and says that they got someone to pay the expenses so in my mind im like a good Samaritan but the only way they will pay if i relinquish my rights to the dog of course i signed i just wanted him to get the best care. Took Honey -my cat- in bad shape on 8/22/2018 lethargic, drooling, not eating. It was late in the night, couple hours later they showed up to explain a long list of diagnostics costs. I accepted. Finally a doctor (Anansa Persaud I thought was autistic as she woudl not look me in the eyes) explained that tests were normal, the Xray showed nothing. She blamed drooling symptoms to all a minor ear infection. She prescribed fungus cream. ordered ear cleaning. There was no Vet report, No written instructions -just Xray report outsourced from UK. I got me a beautiful $700 bill. I even had to ask the tech (very professional BTW) for fluid IV -as cat showed clear signs of dehydration. Honey came home in same or worse shape. Next day Honey was almost gone. I took her to another Vet office three miles down the road -Pets & Vets. They immediately put her in IV fluids and showed bowel obstruction -as clearly in XRays -multiple views not BS. She is fine now -after surgery. Pics before/three after. Pets and Vets are the best.

There is no communication between various vets in this practice, to the point of them literally yelling and screaming at each other. Talk about professionalism.... While there are some good, caring people here, I feel the majority of staff are either incompetent at best or downright malicious at worst. Fellow Miami residents, I know this is the only cancer specialist in the area, but I would highly advise making the drive up north to literally anywhere else. I sincerely hope SE veterinary referral center can take a good, hard look at themselves and make the changes that they know need to happen. I even called a few times to see how my dog was since she had to stay over night and I was very worried and the doctor was great. The doctor even called me before she ended her night shift. The next day Dr. Carro saw her and she proscribed some medications that really helped her. Dr. Carro also explained everything very well and answered some questions I had. I have to take my dog every month for a checkup and so far Ive had a great experience. The nurses are also very nice. The only complain I have is with one of the front desk girl (not sure her name) she is not that friendly and she can give you attitude but the other front desk girl is super nice. I have called many time to ask questions or to see how my pet was during the night and morning and they try to be very nice. Hope everyone that takes their pet to this location has a great experience with SVRC.
