I am currently going pro se and Deborah Matthews is representing my ex wife. Although she seems quite nice, my first courtroom experience started with the magistrate returning to her a notebook of evidence she was attempting to enter ex parte. Apparently thats frowned upon.Luckily for me the magistrate was kind enough to advise me to get a lawyer like Deborah Matthews. Given his previous disdain for her attempt at getting an unfair advantage over me, I was confused as to why he would refer to her as an example of a good lawyer. I then realized that the message was one of not going unprotected in a world of lawyers who try every trick in the book. Unfortunately I would never allow my attorney to try such a move.
