Same story as most of you who is reading this review. All of a sudden, I lost all 12-year worth of data (including files, documents, article drafts, family pictures and videos) that I stored in my iMac. The total size of data was nearly 200GB!! This company is a fraud. They charge me to diagnostic the drive, then they quote me to recover the data. Once paid the deposit to recover the data, waited almost 2 weeks and they didn’t recover the data and keep the deposit. Do not trust this company.

ACE data lab is the BEST!!!Our external hard drive stopped responding when I was sorting through my kids’ pictures to make an album. More than 800GB of videos and pictures dated back 2002 were not accessible. I was so scared that I might lose all my precious memories in a blink. In order for easier access and storage, I saved them ALL on this 3TB hard drive and figured it will last me a long time. I contacted several data recovery companies out of state but don’t feel safe to mail this already damaged hard drive and the ONLY one I have to somewhere I don’t know. BEWARE!! In Miami for vacation, decided to take our external drive, that was dropped and no more spinning, to Ace data lab to get our 15 years pictures and video recovered. My wife went in to talk with the owner (while I stayed in the car with the 3 kids), he promised her to get the data out in a couple of days and ask her $190. After more than half an hour I decided to get in and see what was going on and find out they were talking about their country (China).He reassured me that he would get our lost pictures, asked me to sign and pay the 190 dollar fee. He kept asking us where we were coming from, what we were doing there and what kind of job I have to afford vacations in Miami with a family of five......really?? Why you want to know all that?Before leaving, once I asked him when I should expect the data’s back he started talk like a doctor trying to save a human been and on my way back to the hotel we started smelling something would get wrong.Next day we called in the morning and we were told that he needed some more time to check and in the afternoon he called us saying he don’t think he will have the time to recover the drive during the time we were in Miami (10 days left for our vacations) and it would be 800 dollar more to try without guarantee.Very upset we went to the lab to get explanation of the problem and he simply returned the drive saying that the 190 bucks was just for the evaluation and would be 800 dollar to try to get it backed up. No detailed report was given to us, he just returned the drive with loosen screws!!! Really??? Asked him to put all screws back to our drive and give us a report since he was claiming those 190 bucks for it!!!BEWARE!!

Our database crashed due to a hard-drive problem, almost 5 years of data were lost. 2 weeks ago on Wednesday when my kids are off school and staying home, I figured that since they are playing in the living room, I can transfer the pictures from the digital camera to my computer. All of a sudden, the little one got chased by his sister into the office, he squeezed under my desk to escape from her, Pong! The computer tower was knocked down facing flat on the floor. Immediately I know I’ll have to have someone fix the hard drive to get my important family documents as well as the majority of my work during these 2 weeks. I Googled with my iphone for who can do the job, after calling 5 companies all of whom just plainly told me it was not fixable. Then I called Acedata lab when I almost give up. By the end of Thursday afternoon, which is 24 hours later, I was able to pick up my tower with everything recovered. We recently use the service of Ace Data Recovery Lab to retrieve data from a Seagate External Hard Drive SRD00F1. One morning we turn on the drive and it would not work. It was not dropped but was travelling a lot in our briefcase. None of our computer would recognize the drive and we could not use Seagate tool to retrieve data.Data was completely retrieved including directory structure.The disk itself was not damaged but the mechanism of the drive was.We did business with Chao Wei.It took about 4 business days to get our data.We like the fact that the work is done locally (Miami / Doral).The standard service agreement includes a non-disclosure clause.The rates are comparable to other similar services.Note that the initial diagnostic charge ($95) is not the total charge.We would do business again with them if the need arise.
