Ive lived across the street from the Joseph Caleb for 11 years now & Ive only known about a turkey give away a couple of years ago before all the construction & I thought everything was closed except the library & the head start program. Saturday the commissioner Audrey Edmonson had a toy give away but if you did not preregister you could not receive a toy for your child. Im unemployed and Im not able to give my kids anything this year but I was unaware of this preregistration process. One of her representatives explained this to me but I was very sad because I didnt know her office was still there because everything else is closed in the Joseph Caleb. I cant say about anyone else but I know I dont have a job& even if they received one toy then they would be happy. This really shocked me & left them sad & disappointed. I LOVE THIS BUILDING IT HAS A LOT OF HISTORY & FOUNDED BY THE LATE JOSEPH CALEB MAY HE FOREVER REST IN PEACE BUT I CANT GIVE ANY STARS RIGHT NOW. THE STAFF IS EXCELLENT. SECURITY IS EXCELLENT. EVERYONE IVE COME IN CONTACT WITH IS RESPECTFUL& THIS BUILDING IS A STAPLE IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY BUT TO WATCH NOT JUST MY CHILD TURNED AWAY BUT MANY OTHER CHILDREN BECAUSE OR A LACK OF REGISTERING FOR A TOY GIVE AWAY & WATCH CHILDREN WHO EXPECTED TO MAYBE JUST MAYBE THEY WOULD HAVE SOMETHING FOR CHRISTMAS BE TURNED AWAY IM TORN RIGHT NOW. HER STAFF WAS VERY RESPECTFUL BUT I JUST DIDNT KNOW & I JUST FOUND IT HARD TO EXPLAIN THIS TO CHILDREN. THIS WAS VERY HARD TO WATCH & I JUST CANT BELIEVE THIS WAS THE PROCESS.🤷🤷🤷🤧🤧🤧😵😵😵😱😱😱I really didnt want to put a star at all but in order to post the review I had to put something. Im torn by this incident so that is why I didnt want to put a star🤦🤦🤦

The new renovations brought a upscale look to the neighborhood, its almost like being in one of the federal building downtown.

Black Miami is still so unknown to many. The Caleb Center is one of the most important places in the community. They have a very nice auditorium. The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center uses it for some of their bigger shows. Its a really good house.

How will it be to buy it for one day

The Caleb Center has a Pre K school. I love it there. My daughter went there when she was small and now my son is going to attend school there as well. Clean place with professional at service of the little ones
