This was one of the worst experience I have ever had with a company. I had to send a truck an hour and a half from our shop to pickup some material. Unfortunately the truck broke down as far away as possible in Hobart Indiana. I did some fast research for a local company that could fix a 7.3 liter diesel e450 truck. I was turned down from a few small shops saying it was to big and I was turned down by truck shops saying it was too small. Hoosier diesel returned my call and told me they could handle it. They were too busy on that Monday to look at it but I had no other choice with the predicament I was in. I dispatched a second truck to go and recover the equipment that was picked up and the driver of the broken down truck. The woman running the shop was pleasant and felt bad for my predicament. She said they would look at the truck tomorrow and let me know. I called the following day no answer and no returned phone call. I called Wednesday no answer and no return phone call. I called Thursday and begged for a call back. I received a text a little after noon explaining they are down a tech but they will look at it on Monday. Monday came and went of course no phone call. Several phone calls were made Tuesday. (We’re now over a week by the way) I received a text message at 3:00 that she would speak with a tech and let me know. Of course no phone call back once again. At around 8:30 next day I called again. No surprise no answer. At this point I felt it best to cut my losses. I called a tow company to have the truck transported an hour and half back to home base. I should of just done this in the first place. I can’t speak bad about there work, cleanliness, pricing, or anything else. But the customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I hope you live close by if you ever decide to use this shop. If you are looking to open a good local business, open a diesel repair shop near these guys. I don’t see them lasting very long with the way they treat their customers.

This was the second time I have brought my truck to get work on with this company and by far exceeded my expectations! I had a 6” bds lift done with fox shocks and I couldn’t be more happier! They did a awesome job and helped improve the underbody as well to get the most life out of my upgrades. I would refer anyone I know to these guys because of the quality of work and customer service! They really took care of me and did a great job. I wouldn’t go anywhere else to get work done on my truck!

I want to Thank Hoosier Diesel and Off Road.I lost a HPOP on I-80 near the Indiana/ Illinois boarder. Wound up at Hoosier Diesel after referrals. David Shepard got it right in. I cant say enough good things about his service. They jumped on it, replaced the pump, it had the bolt on the gear (original pump) that had started backing out.Did the new pump, cleaned the EGR and a new Oil cooler. Also did some tuning.All I can say is this thing is a beast now.....towed the 78 Dodge Magnum home down I-80 like it wasnt even there. A big difference from the first 250 miles towing it. David went out of his way to take care of a stranger from out of town to make a bad situation the best it could be. Hooiser Diesel Rocks in my book! They saved my bacon.

At the recommendations of others I took my truck in for a clutch install and valve train adjustment. Additionally, my truck had some rather inconvenient circumstances from a mechanics point of view. All said and done, the truck ran better than I could have hoped, the service was outstanding, and the labor cost was very reasonable. This shop has definitely earned a loyal customer.

David and his wife are are very top notch. They are the best diesel shop in the area. We own a fleet of 15 trucks and weve never had issues with any of them because they have the best technicians!

BEWARE - DO NOT GO HERE - Quoted a price and it ended up doubling for the same work that was quoted for. Blamed EVERYTHING on me the customer. Threatened me multiple times and had to end up paying cash because credit card machine was down. Broke other parts of my truck and that was blamed on me as well as lied. wanted to charge me an extra $2000.00 to fix what they had broken. Took the truck home and overheated on the way home because they had not added coolant to a new pipe that was installed. Try to tell me that was my fault as well. Not sure if they actually know their job. DO NOT GO HERE!!! You will regret it!!! Listen to others that have said the same thing!!!

This place is fantastic. There work is very professional, I wish I could give them a higher rating. They stayed over to make sure I got my 7.3 excursion back so I could go to work that night, everything I had done was an A-1 job, Dave and his crew could not get any better

My truck has been to several local shops in the area and I would still have problems after picking up. Id heard about Hoosier Diesel from several people and they were very happy with the work they did. I took my truck there and David figured out the issue when no other shop could. Spent 20k with david last year. Had him rebuild a cat 3044c. Installed motor and it ran for 6 minutes before locking up. Would not recommend. Will not warranty or even look into what is wrong or why it locked up. I have dealt with many people on this earth but never have I dealt with someone as special as this.I paid my bill on time every time and upon receiving the phone call from you after I waited For my engine to be rebuilt which I was told would be done by March was June when you called and said it was done and that is my busy season when you called and asked for payment I told you not a problem I’ll pay over the phone but you did not accept any cards over the phone so I told you to come pick up a check which you did even before I picked up my engine. David’s wife stormed out And after she left I was able to have a civil conversation with david who said yes we value your business and call me direct so you don’t have to deal with my wife. You also stated she does not know how to Deal with customers and you’re working on getting her out of the office. I guess it hasn’t happened yet as she is writing this I’m not looking for a fight I just want what I paid for and yes that is a running engine. As far as my other vehicles go I have Moved away from Hoosier diesel to someone that cares about their customers

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! My experience with this company was nothing less of excellent! Thursday evening my check engine light came on and stated my truck would go into limp mode after 65 miles. I began to panic because I am headed to southern California from Merrillville IN early next week for work. It was around 9 pm at night when I stumbled across Hoosier Diesel and Off-road and contacted Dave on FB messenger. Within minutes he responded with a couple questions and said he can take care of me. I brought my truck into his shop first thing in the morning and met him and crew. He told me what he was going to do to fix my truck problems and will have my truck completed by end of day. True to his word he called me a little after lunch saying he was finished with my truck. Not only did he get my truck fixed, it runs better than when I brought it in! Will be a repeat customer and recommend Dave and his crew for all your diesel needs!

Bought a spare tire and 5 wheels from them for my wifes Jeep. They remounted and balanced my 4 used tires. In addition to an excellent price, they went above and beyond to get it done on our schedule.
