Most people know that I’m very trusting until you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you guilty. For the past 15 years of dealing with them I notice I have to immediately bring my car back and he say it’s something new like the next day after picking it up. I had him fix my Bentley 8 years ago charged me $8900. I moved to New Orleans and found a Bentley Shop and they told me whoever fixed this car didn’t know what they were doing because he left 20 wires taped to the sides of the inside of the car because he didn’t know what to do with them but didn’t tell me. I paid the Bentley shop another 4K to fix that. I forgave that situation thinking that maybe it was a mistake so I took my old school up there 6 years later and told him to repair every Lil thing you see because I had a leak. He charged me 4K I paid him and the next day the car wouldn’t start. I called and told him that I noticed a pattern with our relationship. Every time I bring any car to you I have To drop a average of 4K then the car would have more problems later. Today I told Chuck that I believe something going on and he better fix my vehicle and I’m refusing to pay nothing else so we agreed to end the relationship after he fixed the new problem. I wanted to expose that shop because I never seen a mechanic that bogus and obviously bogus ever.

Very knowledgeable mechanics. The manager is very professional in his demeanor, and takes the time to explain all repairs. They restored my vehicle to nearly perfect condition. They repaired electrical systems, sensors, brakes and suspension, all to a high standard of excellence. The cost of repair was reasonable, and explained in detail. When I didnt have enough money, they didnt mind storing my vehicle on the lot for two months (no extra charge) while I gathered the funds. I will never go anywhere else for repairs.

I took my car in and he checked it out, quoted me an estimate for the repair and stuck to that amount. He does excellent work, I am a customer for life.

Had reviewed Deans earlier bout some work done and later developed an issue and took that post down. Rather than air my dirty laundry so to speak through this forum with Chuck I spoke with him and resolved the issues I had with him and was treated very fairly. Were all human and make mistakes . When you call car repair companies many times you are unable to explain your car problem with enough detail for them to be able to be able to give you advice over the phone, then sometimes you are. In either situation what sometimes ends up happening is the guy or gal on the phone will goad you into bringing your car to the shop so that they can take a look that sometimes ends up being a costly repair that you had not budgeted for in the beginning. They will almost plead and beg you not to leave the shop without getting it done because of safety reasons.Sometimes this is unavoidable, I will say that for most car repair companies to be 100% sure they need to actually look themselves.But when I called in to Deans they spent a good 10 to 15 minutes explaining to me what was going on with my car before they even got eyes on it. They looked up the car make and model to determine the typical issues with the problems I was experiencing, and even the costs associated with a repair. I knew they were being honest and new what they were talking about because I had literally spent months working on the repair myself.I hate leaving reviews without actually getting service done, I like going through the whole process to be thorough. But I can say that I was actually serviced this time. The only reason why Im not at the shop is because the associated repair just isnt in the budget right now.

My car broke down not far from Deans auto. I was able to get it to their shop. My alternator was bad, so they replaced it and charged me 579.00. They ripped me off and then locked my car behind their fence and said I had to pay that ridiculous price. I wouldnt recommend my dog go there. They are rip offs. The guy at the front desk looked me right in my eyes with his dead eyes and lied to me.

I trusted them with a one-of-a kind engine block for a re-bore job. They did an excellent job of boring and honing to perfection. Everyone I asked about doing the job said Take it to Deans. Now I know why and tell others the same thing. If you want it done right, see Deans.

I called around for pricing on a full synthetic oil change and was pleasantly surprised when they said it would cost $115 but for 10,000 miles, whereas usually it cost me around 70-80 for only 5,000 miles. Anyways, the woman that answered the phone was the sweetest lady in the world and called me back quickly with a quote and set me up with an appointment. It turned out to be the owners wife and I was happy with the service I got. They are busy so be sure to make an appointment. The owner was also very friendly and assured me the oil I was receiving was the best of the best.

I loved the family atmosphere of the office and every person I encountered was so friendly and helpful. I spoke with Vicky on the phone and she was just a breath of fresh air to talk to you and is a great representation of how customer service should be done. I had my engine repaired by Chuck and he did a great job and had my car back in a very timely manner. Overall, I am very pleased with the service I received and will definitely be returning.

The entire staff was awesome!! They rebuilt the engine in my 2003 Honda Pilot and rebuilt the engine in my sons 1988 Toyota Pickup which had electrical issues as well. They worked on my sons car and found the electrical issue which we couldnt find. They did a fantastic job on both vehicles. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for automotive repair. Best price for quality work. Most auto shops wouldn’t even consider changing my timing belt on my diesel. Deans didn’t even hesitate. Had it done in a couple days and even threw in a set of wiper blades. I’ll be a customer for life.

Tried making me pay for their mess up. I Needed machine work done and specifically told them to not touch my block until I was called back with prices and they went and did it anyway and still didn’t call after they did the work. Then they tried to make me pay for it regardless of the situation and even accused me of being a scammer. They let me walk out with no charge but never owned up to there mistake so I won’t be giving them business ever again.

This repair shop was amazing. My battery died at albanese candy store and so I walked here to pick up a replacement. They then drove me back to my car and when I didnt have the tools, replaced the battery for free for me. The battery was only 107 and all the service they gave me was free. I could not be more thankful for this little repair shop! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a person to work on their car. Im from Ohio and was coming home from Iowa so it was luck that I found this repair store, but I am very thankful with how great the people working here were

So I had brought my vehicle there an had one specific thing done to my vehicle work got done said it was all good to go an had a issue that wasnt present there when dropped off an proved it wasnt there an they knew I wasnt BS-ing an made a appoinment to bring it back ended up fixing the issue myself canceled my appointment an no curiosity of why I canceled it Not caring if the issue was resolved this is my personal opinion on the situation if I owned a shop I would make sure if my customers were satisfied ik you cant make everyone happy but at least inquire about this specific situation.

Took my daughters car in for an oil leak that was coming from what I was told was the manifold. I was told they would need the car for 2-3 days. I called to check on the status and was told by Mike that the car wasnt done that they needed to road check it to make sure the leak had stopped. A few more days went by and again called to check on the status and again was told by Mike that it wasnt complete. When I asked why wasnt it complete, I was told by Mike because thats the way it is. Really! Oh, Mike by the way the car still leaks! Nice job! Needless to say my first experience was my last at this place. Also agree with them being over priced!

I bought a vehicle from Carmax in Merrillville, IN. Within weeks it was diagnosed with engine issues. It was then serviced by Deans Auto Repair. Since then, its been in and out of their shop so many times that its ridiculous! And its still not right!!! Matter of fact, its back in the shop at this very moment! Totally unexceptable.....

Deans Auto Repair is amazing. I have been getting cars worked on by them since around 1999. He has done work for me such as rebuilding engines, clutch replacment, and simple things such as brake work. They have worked on many vehicles that were special to me. (Ford Lighting, modded Subaru Wrx...) My Lighting truck throw a spark plug out the motor. Took the truck to dealer for warranty work. To my surprise Chuck later called me to inform me the dealer gave him my truck for him to fix in his machine shop. Chuck guaranteed me that after fixing the stripped threads I would never have a problem from it again. He was correct. I just took the truck to him once a year to check the other spark plugs. I had Deans Auto Repair install a new performance clutch in my modded wrx that I ordered. Chuck called me to let me know it was not fitting correctly. Chuck contacted the company directly to let them know of the issue and sent them pictures. The company agreed with him and thanked him. The agreed with him the clutch was made for just a regular impreza and not properly for a WRX. Chuck got me into another performance that worked great. Chuck is a huge amount of knowledge and his team is able to apply it. Dont let the small building you see throw u off. He has his own machine, equipment, and tons of room back there. I highly recommend the shop for everyday repairs all the way to custom performance work. I say this as I am heading to get my car note from out of town. Has alway fixed the problem the first time

Had my engine rebuilt said it was a two week job turned out to be 11 weeks.should of asked for rental after about 1500 miles on engine started to lose water no leeks no water marks on ground after 3000 miles checked oil 1 quart down took it back to Chuck .So hes had my truck 3 times for a total of 11 days to try to find the problem.I called chuck and told him the water and the oil was low again this was around 3/2/18 and that he could not fix the problem so i wanted compensation for the inadequate work he had done he didnt disagree and offer me $1,000.00 I paid $6,576.18 for the rebuild so Im taking him to court.I will post the out come .Anything major look around

Been getting checked around for weeks at Deans Auto repair will never return to this place work is not quality told me so manydifferent stories. I see why theres so many 1-star reviews here now

Great service quality work

I bought a 4.7 dodge engine from them and six months after i had it installed it blow a head gasket they fixed it and told me i had to by new catilatic converters or it would void my warranty a short time later the timing chains let go and were slapping in side engine and now just after warranty up the engine only has 37,000 miles the ring broke in cylinder number 8 so i have had very bad luck with Deans Auto in merrilliville i dont recommend them to anyone.

He lied to me and then when confronted was goint to charge me a 15% restocking fee on parts he ordered incorrectly ... Do yourself a favor go somewhere else !! He will take advantage of you when he can !!
