This is a family business and in my 26 years as a patient I have always been treated like a member of the family! My situation is a unique one and they are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve my mobility. I have been to other prosthetic clinics and they did not offer any alternative ideas to help my situation like Brownfields did for me. As they weather the pandemic and its collateral damage they have built up one of the best staff I think I have ever seen there! I see some complaints about things that took place during the middle of the pandemic and I believe that we all deserve a little slack during these difficult times! If you need help with your prosthetic or mobility issues this is the best place in all of Idaho, I guarantee it!
I’ve been going to Brownfields since I was 3, and I’m 23 now! Tom has been the one seeing me for the last 20 years and I can’t thank him, or the team of Brownfields enough for everything. Tom is great when it comes to designing my prosthetic leg and helps me to feel comfortable while wearing it. I love the way my leg looks and fits. I always get complements on it.
I have been through a lot of orthotists in my life, and all of them have been helpful, but only Amy at Brownfields has been willing to work on developing an orthotic that would work with my unique problem. Ive had issues with them breaking, but she has always been willing to fix them for me if she could. And after all, they break because I am able to use them and walk more.
First Ill start by saying the service I received was wonderful! The billing, however, became a mess and I feel it was a bit unethical. Knowing this was likely not going to be covered by insurance I asked, very specifically, how much are you going to bill. I was told an amount and was told I would need to pay it in full and whatever insurance ends up paying will be issued back to me as a check. I paid the amount in full and then received another bill showing they billed about $100 more than what they told me, which then fell on me to pay. I am upset because I asked, specifically, what the service would cost. Not cost me, not my portion, but in total. Being in the insurance industry for over 15-years Im certain I asked the correct question but was not given the correct information to make an informed decision. I could have saved about $150 going elsewhere but chose to come here as it was closest to where I work. It was worth the additional $50, but not the added $150. When I called to question and to get clarification, I was met with a polite-ish but complete lack of accountability response. I will not refer and I informed my orthopedic doctor as well.
I was excited when I got the call to pick up my custom boots and inserts today from Brownfields, but my experience has been anything but pleasurable. The custom fitted boots were way off on the fit. I would have to order and wait for a different boot to be ordered. When I requested one pair of the custom inserts to wear in the meantime, I was told no. I would have to wait for them to complete the entire order. What about their pledge regarding the comfort and well being of their patients as their primary objective? So much for their team care approach. Money seems to be their primary objective at Brownfields. I had to initiate almost all the communications from start to finish at Brownfields. It felt like I was having to beg them to help me. Well Im no beggar, Im a chooser. I choose to look elsewhere for my custom orthotics.
I need to order 2 pair of Apex Tennis Shoes. I know the size and Model - should only take 10 minute at most. Have been doing it for about 4 years now. Guess what - I am 30 days out - one full month out for an office visit just to tell them what to order! The VA sent me there because of my sore feel. OH - when I pick them up - he takes out the insert and puts in the new on both pairs at my request. Puts them back in the box and hands them to me and I am gone again in about 10 minutes. I also had to call them and see if my order was there from the VA and it was. They just had not bothered contacted me yet. ANYHOW - what a way to run a business. They were great when downtown. They must be under new management! They are more or less the only game in town. I only have to deal with them once a year.
The Receptionists are friendly and alert. Each of my appointments have had a very short wait time. The person that was helping me was kind and informative. I had asked about Afo socks before I left and was happy to receive them in the mail as I live 150 miles away. Will be continuing on with this company.
Not impressed with this company. I have been waiting months for shoes that never came. They were on back order which I understood but Brownfields never called me once to give me the status. I had to call them several times and finally last week they offered that I could get a refund and come pick it up or get new shoes (which will not be happening ). I call today and they say its going to take another 2 weeks supposedly for my refund when I was told I could go to their office and pick it up. This company sure does know how to give the runaround to customers which is not a business I want to do business with.
I have to say that Brownfields impressed me and left an impression on my heart. My son (10 years old) was upset that he was going to miss P.E. while his prosthesis was in the shop. Brownfields worked hard and fast and then delivered this little boys foot back to nampa to save me drive time so he could get to his P.E. class. 💗 thank you from both of us! Their work and work ethic is above and beyond what I ever expected!
I was so impressed with the level of service. They just couldnt be more helpful!
