Such a fun experience, all in a beautifully modern facility. The state of Mississippi has an incredible history of developing famous entertainers. As they state in the museum, maybe it’s because we often times have nothing more to do other than sit on the front porch, play our guitar and dream of something more. We visited during the traveling Jim Henson exhibit. However, the standing Mississippi exhibit is worth the visit alone. Exhibits were all very interactive, containing some very cool, seemingly cutting edge technology (e.g. the kitchen table area highlighting local chefs and flavors). These aspects make this a great visit for kids as well. Staff was very friendly and more than willing to engage regarding local history. This is a visit every Mississippian should make, and well worth the time for any out of state visitor wanting to learn more about an often misunderstood part of our country.

I just saw the Tennessee Williams paintings—obviously knew of his plays, but had no idea he was also a painter. Fantastic and informational exhibit! So glad to have quality shows available locally. Given the first Saturday discount tickets, its even more feasible to give kids world-class exposure to the arts.

One of the best museums I have ever been too and I live in DC where we have a few museums. The best use of technology to tell stories I have seen. This is what an interactive museum is supposed to be. Good for all ages and does an amazing job of exploring the contributions of Mississippians to the arts. I wish they had some posters of some of the exhibits like the music influences wall.

Much nicer than I was expecting for downtown Meridian. The exhibits are really awesome and full of little known (to me) facts. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing it was lacking was more content. Usually I approve of the quality over quantity, but in this case I was just left wishing there was more. Definitely worth at least one visit, probably worth a visit every time the changing exhibit changes.

We got to tour the MAX for free as part of a business trip. The main attraction at the time was a traveling Jim Henson exhibit, which was cool, but really the permanent exhibit based on famous Mississippi artists and personalities was the most impressive. We were kind of pressed for time, so we only spent about an hour here, but i think you could easily spend an afternoon really taking everything in. The exhibit was not huge, but larger than I initially thought, and I think the ticket price at $14 for admission is definitely reasonable. I would highly recommend.

Bravo Meridian! The MAX may just be the thing that puts Meridian permanently on the map. Ive always enjoyed museums and this one could hold its own with any in the country. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, usually a busy time for museums, and were able to go immediately to the ticket counter. Though there were other guests, it was in no way crowded. The museum had wonderfully-executed content, with the majority of the exhibits being interactive. The museum is beautiful, innovative and informative -- again, BRAVO!!

Amazing new center piece for cultural and arts events adjacent Meridians small downtown Plaza. Fits in excellently next to the citys restored Union Station railroad stop and beautifully highlights in its central court the accomplishments of the regional and larger Mississippis arts, literature and music laureats. From William Faulkner to Oprah Winfrey.
