We had a great experience with Stay Alfred. We were in the heart of the downtown area and most places were within walking distance from our door! Parking is right next door, it’s about $10 a day but you pay as you come in and out of the gate (cash or ATM). Great place; loved the character of the building. Highly recommend staying there.

This was a great choice for a hotel in Memphis if Beale Street and downtown Memphis is your reason for going. It was a great location and in walking distance of great restaurants and museums. I would definitely stay again!! The room wasnt as clean as I would have liked but I wouldnt trade that for the location.

This place. The instructions to stay were abysmal.I had two nights booked. I got there late - another guest had to help me figure out how to check in. Finally got in (first you have to find this random mailbox - I posted a picture so if you, regretably, decide to stay here, you can find it.) they give you a code to access a box. You access the box, and then you get a card that only works for the elevator and external doors. You have a different code for the external door (should you not have your card), and a different code for you room. The hallways and elevator looks like a mental asylum, not a hotel. The room had an ironing board, but no iron. Tons of space, for sure, but no amenities. The TVs were on when I got there, very loud as well. There was also extremely loud noises (maybe construction, maybe the building) in the morning.I was traveling to Memphis for a very important meeting. I parked my car in the lot connected to the building. When I went to leave or my meeting in the morning, I could not get out of the lot. The machines card reader was malfunctioned, and my ticket could not be accepted by the machine. I called the number given a number of times, and it went to a full voicemail-box. I finally talked to someone after 25 minutes, and the best she could tell me that maintenance would come in a bit. I was trapped.Luckily, someone who lives in the building (its an apt and a hotel) saw me and used his pass to open the gate.I then found a room at a reputable hotel in Memphis and spent my second night there.I told Stay Alfred - Chisca of this problem, and they denied my request for my money back the night I didnt stay there. They did not care that Id share this story.Do not stay here, its not worth whatever you save.

In all of the times I have been traveling to Memphis, I did not know of this place. I am glad to have found it. The location is ideal. Short walk to Beale Street. Delicious restaurants are all around. Downtown is right there. And its just a couple of blocks from the river. The one big down is no elevator. I was on the 3rd floor and Im not a young man anymore carrying luggage up and down. Lol. And I cant say it would be handicapped friendly.

The location was fantastic and certainly there’s enough room for 8 people to sleep. But the kitchen table has only two chairs and there are three stools at the bar. There was really no place to just BE in the apartment. Moreover we were so disappointed that there were not enough towels for 8 people to shower - even though they made us register all 8 names and birthdates. We stayed two nights and two adults had to dry off with hand towels the entire time. We couldn’t find trash bags in the apartment which seems like a staple sort of item. The bedding was thin and rough. Closet was missing door handles. I just felt that for the amount we paid it should have been a lot more thoughtfully outfitted. If what you want is just to be close to the hustle and bustle, and nothing else matters, then you’re fine. If you want to be comfortable (and dry) then you might need to advocate for what you need better than we did.

Very disappointed with this hotel. They are very insensitive to the customer needs. They are only concerned about making money and making sure the rooms are booked. I would never stay at this place again. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else where they understand great customer service.

We were so excited to stay here. Elvis recorded music in this building long ago. Its a beautiful building with much history. When we got unpacked after a long drive and got into bed we discovered that the bedding had likely not been changed for WEEKS. There were so many hairs. Hairs everywhere, different kinds, lengths, on everything, and every bed.We called and were told it would be morning before we could get new bedding but we could go buy some and get reimbursed. The next day the couch bed broke. Just a horrible experience. The manager came and apologized, they only took $50 off our 2 night stay. Disappointing.

First it is important to realize that this is nowhere close to a full service hotel. You cant check in or even leave your bags early. We called a day early and were told they couldnt accommodate an early checkin despite the rooms were unoccupied the day before! We had to check our luggage at another nearby hotelThe lock code didnt work and we had to wait 35 minutes on the phone for it to be corrected. There isnt any housekeeping and some parts of the unit were dirty.I suggest booking at a real hotel.

Literally felt like a home away from home.Beautiful, and like an idiot I couldn’t figure out the instructions to get in, but John came through all the time with the assist! 24-hour help for everything. Even stuff that I could’ve actually read the email for (like the WiFi password)Literally my only critique is add more towels. The two I had didn’t suffice as I used one for my hair and one for my body. I usually prefer to use a different one every day or every two days. But that’s just me being weird. Definitely didn’t take away from the experience. 🖤

We absolutely loved the location of The Chisca! Our directions for parking and how to access our unit we’re perfect! The unit was a good size for our group of 6 adults. The historical aspects of The Chisca was an added bonus! When we arrived the unit smelled horrible and strongly of “smoke”. Since there is a $500 fee for smoking in the unit I tried to call the 24hr line (left a message) and emailed a representative to simply report this issue. No one responded to the phone message I left. And the email returned said a local representative would contact me, and no one did. All correspondence prior to the stay was answered immediately so I felt this lack of communication was somewhat intentional.

Have stayed here twice and overall the accommodations are nice. A good mix between a hotel and Airbnb. Location is great as well. A couple comments for management:Need to step it up in terms of cleanliness. There was a layer of dust/hair on everything and obvious crumbs on the couch and chairs. Care was not taken when it was cleaned after the previous occupants. I’m not sure I’m going to stay here again...it was kind of gross.Check-in info could be more accessible. Would be better if it were in an email, rather then having to navigate through the app which is not very intuitive.Lastly, need a TV in the second bedroom!

I gave it a 2 for location and security. The other stars not given due the following negative experiences:(1) ease of entry. We parked in the lot for $10/day - not a prob. It was not clear where the front door was to the building, it was not clear where the walking gate in the parking lot was located, so we used the gate that led to the building. Our link didn’t work to get the details on codes, etc. so we had called the phone number posted. Was on hold forever so had to resort to buzzing in. The people that answered aren’t affiliated with the hotel and weren’t happy. She buzzed us in, stomped down the stairs, gave us a card to call (I told her we tried calling that first but no answer) then handed us a business card of someone to call). We spent 15 minutes trying to access the instructions and walking all over the building and left a message for this person- she never called us back. We finally discovered that the entrance to the building and was on the other side of the building! From there, we could access the lockbox for the keys.(2) functional equipment as advertised. We had 5 in our group so we needed the queen sofa bed for our son. When we opened it up, the metal bar was separated and could not hold the weight of the bed when folded. I immediately called the 24 hour support. After being on hold for awhile they redirected me to guest services and received a call back quickly. He was the best experience because he kept me notified of next steps. When we came back from dinner, we met 2 people guest service employees and they wrestled with the bed to get it back into a couch. They kindly brought us an inflatable bed since we couldn’t use the sofa bed. I felt horrible for my son because every morning he was on the floor - those inflatable beds suck.(3) ease of departure. Instructions state to leave the keys in the room. The five of us and all our luggage plus my sister’s family of five and all of their luggage (also stayed at the hotel) were at the walking gate of the parking lot. We were on the street, outside of the building and our cars were inside the lot. The instructions state to scan your parking ticket. Didn’t scan. We went to get another ticket- didn’t give another ticket. Called the phone number on the gate. The lady told me that I had to call from the phone on the gate and not from my phone in order to get a code. There was no phone by the gate. So I walked over to where the cars enter and push all the buttons that I could (including the one that said CALL). She kept telling me i wasn’t doing something right or it would have called her. Her job was only to push buttons. She actually said that. I told her that we had 10 people standing outside the gate with our cars inside the gate and none of our tickets would scan. And after several minutes finally said we were going to call the police to help us. She gave us the code at that point.Really just a disappointing experience overall. The rooms were nice though.

First off, the place is still under construction so not everything is clearly marked. I got my key without a problem. But the keyless fob was useless because it didnt work on the main door. I had to climb over the back fence and use the rear door where the fob worked. As soon as I opened the door to the apartment a wall of smell hit. The whole apartment had a odd and absolutely unpleasant odor. The AC was off so I turned it on high hoping to clear the air. I left the apartment to do work and I came back about 4 hours later, scaled the fence, and unfortunately the smell was still there. It was so bad that I could smell it on myself the next day while I was out. It sucked having to come back to that for two more nights.

I booked though Air BnB and thew actual apartment is though a group called Stay Alfred. I was a bit unsure as why another company is using Air BnB as they vehicle to run a hotel business. be aware these guys are only about the $$$. I needed to change my booking (5 days accommodation) a week earlier (the booking is 7 months away) and the new price was $1200 more !!, I tried to discuss it with them reasonable and their reply was thats the new price no discussion. The kicker is they have a $500 cancellation fee even 7 months out ? Pure price gauging. Do not book a Stay Alfred accommodation unless you are happy with their high fees and dynamic pricing.

Being charged $100 cleaning fee is a little ridiculous! Especially when no one is cleaning on a daily like at a hotel. Also the tv in the bedroom went out constantly. You would have to unplug and power cycle to get it to working again. Just for it to go right back out. The apartment was nice the building seemed like it was still under renovation even though no one was working on it. Don’t know if I would go back to this location but may give another one a try.

So we rent space from this company last Thursday through Saturday before Christmas!!! An the first place which was Metro 67 would have been ok if we werent treated so badly by the Desk clerk, so we demanded to be move to another hotel or give us our back and after a great deal of going back and forth they finally saw it our way and moved us somewhere else!!!! However, when we got there the master bedroom TV didnt work and the toilet was broken in the master so I had to stick my hannnnnnnnd in the base to flush because the chain was broken!!!!! An it was filthy in there you all so disgusting and felt like vommiting every time I had to due it!!!! We asked for them to fixed the TV but was told by the time they got there we would be checking out!!!! Also the pull out couch had brown stains on it!!!!! A there was a bug in the bathroom when we first use the Master!!!!!! This company needs a major over haul and a New contract with a better more detailed eye for cleanliness!!!!!

Nice apartment option in the centre of Memphis. We had a 3 bedroom apartment on the 8th floor. The old Chisca hotel building is being redeveloped and is still a bit empty, but the apartments have been refurbished in industrial style, overall very successful!Bedrooms are spacious with good beds, and bathrooms are very nice as well. The kitchen is well stocked and it is nice to get a small convenience packages at arrival. The coffee definitely helped beating the jetlag ;-)There were a few oddities. Firstly for a 3 bedroom / 8 person apartment there where not enough seats in the lounge. (3p couch and 2 seats). And also for such a wonderfully stocked kitchen there was no place to decently have dinner. One small table for 2 persons and a bar for 3 people.Lastly access is a bit of an inverted escape room.... instructions provided by StayAlfred where very good, but you need a lot of different cards and access codes. Also the limited number of access cards is a bit of an issue, especially with a larger group. You cant get in without, so you closely need to align plans when you go out.Parking was very easy behind the building. $10 per day.Overall a good apartment for 4 people. Any more would push it.
