We very much enjoyed climbing at Memphis Rox during our anniversary trip to Memphis. Great sets with lots of variety. They have an extensive bouldering area as well as top rope. The orientation was thorough, but not long. And they offer belay classes if you aren’t already familiar with the process. We will be back!

We had a great time training to belay and then challenging ourselves to climb as far as possible..., but the BEST part of our evening was when the young man who works there patiently took my son up and down the walls several times encouraging him the whole time. Im thankful that my 7 year old gets to see men older than him making investments in the next generation. 🙏 I thank God for those moments .

A professional mountain climbing club in middle of the city. They charge minimal fees. Even if you are not willing to pay they will allow you to enter and use the facility. Idea is giving the community and in return they expect us to give our time to community. Not only monetary means. We paid $10 for four group of friends. Trainer was cool and an excellent person. They also have free solo climbing. However, you need to sign a waiver at the beginning. So do it at your own risk.I would recommend try mountain climbing at least once in your lifetime.

I love MemphisRox! I recently started rock climbing to improve my strength, and I look forward to coming here every week. The staff are all super friendly, its easy to borrow equipment (without an extra charge), and the walls and equipment are extremely well taken care of. Theyre also very cognizant of the ongoing pandemic, and have reinstated mask requirements to make sure everyone can stay safe. And if you havent tried anything from their kitchen yet, youre missing out! Their Dat Route smoothie is the best, and whenever theyre cooking something it smells amazing. I 100% recommend MemphisRox!

Memphis Rox is a premier facility for both top-rope and boulder climbing, and the gym also has a space upstairs with traditional gym equipment, as well as rooms for events and fitness classes. As far as climbing gyms go, the space is pretty huge, with a great number of climbing routes for both top-rope and bouldering. The routes also get changed frequently enough to keep things fresh, and there is usually a pretty good diversity in terms of difficulty.Memphis Rox offers a few options for memberships at fair and competitive rates, as well as daily pricing, but it stands out both as a climbing gym and as a community fixture with its policy of turning no one away; if you cant afford the normal rates, you can still participate. But it doesnt stop there - Memphis Rox seeks to be (and succeeds at being) an inclusive center of the community focused on uplifting people through climbing and fitness. In addition to the facility, Memphis Rox offers different fitness classes and climbing trainings to participate in, and when youre done with your time there, they also have a small juice bar in the bouldering area.

We went to Memphis Rox today as a fun thing to do for my brother’s birthday. We didn’t really know what to expect, as it was our first time there- and we had a fantastic time! All the staff were excellent from the time we checked in, to when we ate at Juice Almighty, even to when the security guard asked if we enjoyed ourselves when we were leaving. Leo (might be spelling that wrong) was our belay for rope climbing and he was fantastic. He works as a staff member in the kitchen, but volunteers there on his days off, which speaks volumes to the place. We’ll definitely be back.

This place exceeds anything I could have imagined. I think what makes this place so incredible are the people that work there. They are down to earth, always smiling, and very helpful and friendly. I cant say enough good things about the staff from the front desk to the cafe, they know how to accommodate everyone and it is so impressive. Speaking of Impressive, their cafe has an amazing menu! I have had 2 meals there now and it does not disappoint from fresh juices to smoothies and grilled chicken salads and one of a kind sandwiches. Also, I have never rock climbed EVER, and I was so afraid but I thought I would try it because I signed up my boys to climb. So I tried and it was FUN and exhilarating and actually a little addictive. So now we joined and I am so glad that my hard to entertain children are enjoying their time while they are there.I only wish it was not too far from us. Even though we are right in Germantown and have a new facility down the street from us, I cannot imagine having a better experience than Memphis Rox! Memphis Rox deserves five stars for several reasons:- Primarily they deliver a wonderful combination of bouldering and big wall climbing at a value that is unmatched in the Memphis area. They charge almost the same amount for a student monthly membership ($25) as other indoor rock climbing gyms charge for a singular day pass ($20). The route setting is consistent and fresh as well.-Additionally, Rox serves as a community outreach center designed to help those less fortunate in the surrounding area (specifically youths) to provide them with a safe opportunity to develop new skills in a safe and positive environment.I could not be more bullish about Memphis Rox. I encourage anyone interested in climbing to stop by and give them a visit. It is well worth your time, energy, and money!

This is one of the special places in Memphis that really brings everyone together. We live closer to the other climbing gym but we come to Memphis Rox because it is so much fun to be around such a wide variety of folks from all over Memphis and from all walks of life. There is a weekly class for kids on Mondays from 6 PM to 8 PM that we have been attending for almost a year. I take the weekly yoga class at 6 PM while my son climbs. The facilities are top notch and have a large bouldering area as well as tall walls. Upstairs there are three yoga/dance rooms, aerobic equipment and weights. The café is really good as well with lots of healthy options. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Lockers are free and the locker rooms are nice and complete with showers. Everything except the café is pay what you can, but they have suggested prices for memberships, etc.

Be careful! Once you try it you might not be able to stop!Seriously though, this place is amazing. I came out as a complete novice with no idea what I was doing. Immediately I was greeted by a very welcoming staff member behind their front desk. They explain what is probably the most recent remarkable thing about this place: its a non-profit that will not turn anyone away, no matter if they can afford to pay the already reasonable price. There is no pressure, and nobody will make you feel bad if you dont pay full price. Then they provide climbing shoes and harnesses at no charge. What if climbing is not your thing? Memphis Rox provides gym equipment and a variety of yoga classes. FREE OF ANY EXTRA CHARGES! These guys really know how to make their place welcoming to everyone.Theres still more though! They have a juice bar that operates on the same pay-as-you-can principle as the rest of the gym.The atmosphere is welcoming and family friendly, so being the whole crew out! I love Rox!! I’ve only been climbing a couple months, and it’s a great place. I’m still a beginner climber though but I have such a fun time climbing!-This place is a good entry point for beginner climbers. I wasn’t afraid or embarrassed as a new climber a few months ago to come climb here, which allowed me to keep coming and get better. (Sometimes this means there’s kids that don’t really know wall etiquette in summer months/ on weekends (not all the time though!) but I think this is an ok trade off for all of the people that it introduces to climbing)-The routes are set super well. I’ve been other places where the routes were only hard due to slippery holds or holds spaced far apart. These routes are interesting, and even the “easy” ones can take technique and thinking and are fun to climb.-They add new routes relatively often so there’s usually new things to climb.-Such a fun environment!! There’s not one type of person here- when you look around, there’s a variety of ages and backgrounds all climbing together.-Staff is so nice!-Workout area upstairs is an added bonus!!-You really can’t beat their price!! There are some places that have a discounted month that is still more expensive than a normal month here.Try out Rox!! And you might start loving climbing like me!!

Im x-military, (airborne infantry) have repelled from Blackhawk helicopters, mountains, etc. Have belayed hundreds, if not thousands of times in my life. So the staff member tested me. I failed to tie a figure 8 knot the way she wanted to see it. After 3 tries, she said Im sorry, I cant pass you, you had 3 tries to do it. I said Can I take your quick class and come back in 10 minutes so you can pass me? The reply: no, you can only test once a day. She did not mention this before the test. If I had known that I would have taken their class on the front end to be 100% sure I knew how to tie a figure 8 knot the way she wanted it. I understand safety, insurance, etc, but this is a complete lack of common sense/ critical thinking on behalf of the staff. I couldnt belay my kids that day. Complete waste of time and money for me.
