I got a 2 week trial so that I could test this place out. It is huge, and has a lot to offer. I only did the swimming pool area. The pool water is very cold. I would have liked it to have been warmer. The water slide is really fun. The hanging rope will eat away at your hands. I didnt try it, but my niece did and she got some blisters from it. The lazy river was very enjoyable. The hot tub was nice. I liked how they had the machines to dry your clothes when you are done swimming too. Great facility for families.
Honestly, if you take working out seriously, this isnt your gym. They will change schedules the day before. They will drastically cut hours the day before with no notice.Ive been here a year and I let it slide when there were kids in the weight areas dropping weights not wiping up. Leaving stuff everywhere. But when it comes to the schedule changing with less than 24 hour notice, I just cant let that slide. Its a gym. You either take it seriously or you make people aware that it is not taken seriously from the get go.
Do not requure face mask in water aerobic classes. No social distancing.
We walked in and we were immediately greeted. The enthusiasm the front desk worker exhibited was awesome. It made adhering to safety protocols exciting. Her perky attitude was on level 10. Yes, sign us up for the membership!! It was nice to feel so appreciated and welcomed. We filled out the application, took our pictures, paid and got our membership cards in less than 20 minutes.
Very nice people love instructions instructors nice atmosphere good workouts
Best indoor facility in memphis, Maybe the mid-south.
Simply the best.. Great place to take your whole family...
One of the last remaining places in memphis that feels safe and drama free
Membership vibes.. Family fun and workout. Not to mention FREE childcare...
My favorite place to just exercise .
I really enjoy my membership here. Not only is the facility ALWAYS very clean, but the individuals that work there are always incredible friendly and the instructors, thorough and thoughtful. Working out has never been my favorite thing to do but when I come through the doors at the KROC, I dont get the feeling of dread like I have at past gyms. Everyone, even the fellow members, treat each other with respect and kindness and I love that. I especially appreciate that this summer during the COVID lockdowns, they continued to provide guidance through online instruction.
Awesome place to go work out, take a class or go for a swim. Extremely kid friendly and they even have classes they teach when Covid isn’t a thing. It’s extremely affordable for a family of four. There is no better gym in Memphis. I would highly recommend!!!!!!
Im learning how to swim and the staff is very nice 20/10
Super clean very covid-19 aware Equipment is up-to-date
Look forward to going to the Kroc center the staff is so friendly and warm and welcoming and always ready to help in any way they can
Great place for the whole family ...
Very good place to work out
Great place to workout. Free weight are is great.
Get low low I love it there
Great service well try agin!!!!
Great atmosphere for adults and children!
Ive been enjoying the Kroc for a few months now. Its really nice and never insanely crowded like other places Ive been. The fitness classes are a great way to work out and push yourself to do more. Its comfortable for the whole family. The aquatics area has a ton to offer for the whole family. Really enjoying this place.
Beautiful facility. Plenty of machines so I am never waiting long at rush hour. Very clean and smells good. Friendly helpful staff. Wide range of classes. 4 out of 5 because the lap lanes for adults. Need more or better time management by staff during busy hours like they do with equipment in excise room.
Clean and has everything you need for a good workout
I LOVE this place!
It has the best fitness center in the area for the best price. I love the pool and the classes that are included with membership. You do have to have real swimming trunks which I have heard some fussing about in my house, lol. Still, overall i love the family atmosphere, cleanliness, and available activities.
Top quality fitness and community center, in a convenient Midtown location. Very friendly staff, and lots of classes for all level. Excellent equipment and facility.
My daughter was suppose to start their Kroc Pot summer camp on today. I paid in full on 6/18/2020. Within 5 weeks nobody found the time or courtesy to give me a phone call and let me know that this particular camp would not take place. Instead, we wasted our whole morning just to arrive and be told that due to Covid they decided to combine classes and have passed my daughter on to some Gymtastic camp. Umm that is not what I paid $135 for! If she wanted to attend that particular camp I would’ve paid for that one. I understand Covid is changing a lot, however that is no excuse for effective communication. My daughter had been SUPER excited for weeks about the Kroc Pot camp and this was a big disappointment for her. Had someone taken the time and contacted me when the decision was made, I could’ve requested a refund then and found my daughter something else to do this week. Wasted our time completely.
Very nice. Has just about every option in fitness you could ask for. Indoor pool with a waterslide. Basketball courts, indoor soccer/football field. Full assortment of weights and machines, kids area. Assorted classes happening. You name it, its there.
Ive been going to the Kroc since it opened. I love this place. The space itself is beautiful. The is an art wall along the main hallway that features a different local art installment periodically. There is a large indoor basketball and turf court. A large room on the end serves as a yoga and large class room. The gym is fully defined with all kinds of equipment. The pool is wonderful for families. Theres is a race pool, several lanes, a lazy river and a hot tub. There is even more workout equipment and the spin class area on the 3rd floor of the challenge center which is a multi level area with obstacles and other spaces for kids to hang out.
Love this place! My daughter takes swim lessons with Shanel, and she’s an amazing instructor. My daughter is progressing so nice and she loves her! Great hire Kroc! I also love the entire facility, but this review is to pin a flower on an awesome employee.
I have been a member here on and off since about 2015. The staff is always courteous and the facilities are maintenanced and fairly clean. However, I think there is too many different activities going here. Its more like a community center than anything else and, for me, there are too many people around so the I always felt a little crowded out. I also love swimming but the pool setup is more for socializing than serious swimming. The gym is always packed so I rarely get to shoot hoops when I want either. It is kinda out of my way too since I moved so I have let my membership go for now.
Love the variety of classes they offer. Employees are very nice and helpful. Facility is clean, new and updated equipment!
Great place to work out! The Power classes are the best with instructors, Hannah, Sage, Lauren and Kelly. The swimming schedule definitely needs to be improved since most of the time in the evenings the lap lanes are filled with swim classes. If you need to swim laps, I would suggest going in the early morning hours when the lanes are open. The pool really could have used two more lanes in the original design. Overall, I highly recommend the Kroc .
I love exercising
Looking forward to post pandemic rules
My family loves the Kroc! My teen kids can meet there after school with friends for homework, playing b-ball, or hanging out in the challenge center. I love the group classes and exercise equipment. I have been a member for over a year and have loved every minute of it. The atmosphere is wholesome, clean, and all of the staff are really passionate about what they do! Keep up the good work.
One of the nicest community centers in the area mostly all new and exclusive items that other community centers don’t offer. We are always here for one thing. Our G-Kids always audition for the plays that they offer here. So much fun and the productions are one step away for Broadway. LoL. I don’t know much else about this fabulous place. There is performance stages, a church, gym equipment, indoor pools, water slide, rental spaces, basketball court, and probably a plethora of classes for the young and old. It’s worth checking out all the Kroc has to offer. Wish we lived near here our family would have a membership here.
Easily the best fitness center in the city Fitness for both the body and spirit
Nice place
Beware the Kroc DOES support the man handling and chastising of kids who takes lessons there. Theres very little Christ like about this place
We joined to use the Reach program for our son for after school care. Supposed to be very structured, a time set aside for study and homework, a short devotional time associated with the church there etc. None of this exists. Kids run wild, cursing, pushing. Our son hates it there. Virtually and sometimes literally no supervision. But that being said its still the cheapest after school care you can find just dont expect to get what they tell you is going to occur.
So happy I joined the Kroc Center! It is a beautiful gym with great equipment + cheap classes for its members. Full cardio + weights area, kickboxing, spin, basketball + soccer for kids, and multiple swimming pools. The staff are always willing to help, the environment is friendly and welcoming. The Kroc has something for everyone + great family plans to keep costs low. If youre looking for a community gym this is it.
The friendly staff got my membership set up fast and then gave me a personal tour.
I love this place! Everything is clean, orderly, and Im so thankful for the childcare services. The staff is the best. Very loving toward the children and hold a high standard of work ethic.
Really enjoyed it here while our family went back years ago. It got to be too much a month to only come on weekends. You can do annual memberships elsewhere for so much less so we started rotating those instead. The indoor water pool is awesome. Its just kept too cold in winter. This is a pretty expensive membership but less than the ymca. Join when they drop the joining fee to save money.
Staff are always helpful and friendly. The Croc center offers a lot for the entire family. Payments can be made monthly or debited from your account. I noticed the staff keeping the equipment clean unlike other facilities Ive been to. Restrooms are well maintained. So far Im very pleased.
Awesome gym and excellent childcare. Classes included are great.
The free child care for members bumps this up to a 5 star rating by itself. The facility is large and clean with very few negatives as far as equipment is concerned. I honestly wish there was a larger free weight area, more free weights and proper floors for weight lifting (rubber rather than linoleum). Considering all the other amenities, this fitness center is well worth you and your familys money.
Always clean. Only allows kids to play basketball and soccer recreationally while in facility. No other sports. Wont even allow the kids who do not play to go into the gym. Otherwise it is a nice up-to-date facility with many fitness classes.
Ive never been a big fan of the Salvation Army, because of their biased for-profit attitude towards charity, but I cant deny that this is a pretty nice gym. There are touchscreens in allot of the cardio machines, plenty of activities, a heated pool area, and a good weight room. Expect crowds in the afternoon and allot of kids running around. I get in free so I cant vouch for prices. Staff are very nice and the usual gym crowd is also very friendly and supportive of one another.
I love the KROC and have been a member from the beginning. The pool and hot tub are my favorite part but increasingly in the summer there seems to be no time for adults. The past month every time Ive gone its been packed, the hot tub has been out of service and today the pool was shut down because a kid threw up in it. Its great the KROC is providing a place for kids to swim during the summer time but dont forget us childless adults in the process ;-) There should be adult only times in the schedule. Just a suggestion.
Great place to work out. Fun classes and plenty of machines. Swimming area is design where theres something for all ages. I also enjoyed the church. Great place to worship on Sundays.
Nice work out
I was able to join the Purdue Center of Hope and the Adult Rehabilitation Center for Easter worship service. They had a wonderful service with lunch afterwards. It was a great day!
Our family loves the Kroc Center. We do sports, swimming and exercise here. The staff is so welcoming and kind to my kids!
Great prices for a family of four. Great programs for children. Indoor pool with classes for all ages. Healthy, kind atmosphere. Its a nice, clean building. A great Christian atmosphere.
Great recreational facility in the city. Has it all great facilities, great staff.
There are so many activities for you and your children included in a regular membership, (which is a GREAT deal) they offer far more than any other fitness establishment Ive come across. The indoor pool and outdoor splash area are amazing, as are the indoor AND outdoor play areas! The staff is friendly and great and the facility is phenomenal. There are many adult group classes as well as drama and art for the kids, the drama club puts on their own plays. The cafe has the best, freshest food with many healthy options (we had the Cobb salad and the smoky turkey wrap, which was delicious.) There is also childcare (which brings them out to play, not just keeps them in a room) and worship on Sunday. Im so impressed, l cant say enough good things about the Kroc center.
They closed this Saturday at noon to rent out their parking spots to Cooper Young Festival visitors. If they want to be a parking garage, great, but dont charge us monthly membership fees for gym usage then. We look forward to spending time in the very toddler friendly pool each weekend. What is next? They close operations anytime they can earn a quick buck?
Nice place. My job has used one of their banquet rooms for our fundraiser for two years now. Both times have been very nice and successful events. Ive never used any of their other facilities though.
This is a wonderful fitness center. It has far more useful areas, equipment and classes than other fitness centers in Memphis. As for things stolen, they have lockers that you can put your items in and lock them up. I see people leave items out or in lockers without locks and just dont understand it. Dont blame the Kroc Center because you dont use what is available to you. This is a great place to go and take family, the staff is so helpful and concerned for your safety and experience.
A thoughtful organization made for helping people!! Love to be a part of the team!
Amazing place for an individual or a family. Lots of fun stuff to do. Single membership is much higher than other places.
It has a pool and I can do water aroebics no now
Our little one insisted on playing soccer. Im pro sports so I looked for the nearest option. The Kroc Center offers soccer for her age group at $80. This includes game day uniforms (gotta buy your own cleats and shin guards) and a season of weekly practices plus games. Yes, please!
Great place! Friendly and helpful staff. Great for functional strength training (plenty of bands, belts, kettlebells, Versa Climbers, etc.) Plethora of exercise classes everyday. Theres so much stuff to do here that I cant even get to everything. Only downside is the pool (too small; only 3 lanes), and I wish they had a sauna.
Our family have been members since they opened. Love the atmosphere. Love the exercise classes and staff. Need more consistency on text alerts and notifications on social media pages of when the will be closed.
Its a great place for kids and families. Also, see any Stage Door Production show that is playing. Its pay what you can, and well worth any price. Its just plain fun.
This all in one fitness center has fitness center which includes Zuma, free weights, cycling and more. The indoor pool is fantastic . A part of pool design for laps and even has lazy river pool area. Water slide is fun for all and the cafe is great. Family Fun atmosphere. It offers church, drama and many more activities with a low membership fee.
Its a good place to take care of all of your needs for exercise and conferences
Kid friendly and family oriented..so much to do for kids and parents can have the comfort and assurance that their child is safe while working out..indoor pool and child watch..just a great place to have a .membership
I love this place KROC Community Center is a nice clean fun interesing place that have 115 fitness classes and Its no excuses 2 not come 2 this place 4 work out😍
Very clean nice establishment staff was very helpful and pleasant about helping
High quality facilities, well kept, and friendly staff for good prices.
I love this place! They have great fitness classes and the kids have a good time as well.
Only been here once for a work event but I enjoyed the friendly staff leading us through various team-building activities. Located in a place to impact the community in a positive way.
The pool area use to be really cool, but now its just basic since they have gotten rid of all the activities in the kiddie pool for the kids.
This Center is very spacious and there are many things to do here from Basketball, to swimming and of course, exercising.
Environment is conducive to achieving my goal. Personnel is excellent. I look forward to my workout time.
Excellent facility to work out. Great gym, great staff, great child care and classes offered. Check it out, you wont be disappointed.
Several weeks ago I decided to go with a personal trainer at the gym to assist me with setting up a schedule and some instruction on equipment etc.I was paired with Jeremy who has made the whole experience wonderful and educational. He really took the time to listen to my concerns but was very straigt forward on what I needed to do to achieve my goals. It has been a great experience that could have been very stressful. It doesnt hurt that he has a great sense humor!Would recommend him if you need to get a good start on your work out.
A great place to be a member of, and bring your kids of all ages to come to play, and skin. They have life guards, and every child can use a life jacket. Small weight room, but has every thing you need to get in shape
Great gym and so such more. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the variety of class offerings is great.
Great community place. Good workout area. Wonderful aquatic facilities. Tons of classes and activities. Always bustling and full of energy!
Terrific facilities and an unbelievable experience for all ages for memberships or group outings. This is what a community center should look like. Hands down better than any YMCA Ive ever been to.
Ive been a member since they opened. Great staff, awesome classes.
Do NOT go to this facility if your time matters. You NEVER know when they will close for fellowship, or a big event at the Liberty Bowl, or takeover by a local group. You NEVER know when the pool is being commandeered for a school field trip. The facilities are nicely maintained but the problem is the management never lets you know when they will be available and when they wont. If there is a big event at the Liberty Bowl, they will be closed so they can sell the parking spaces (paying members are: denied use of the facility for these events; not remibursed for the day they cant use the facility; and not paid a share of the parking revenue). This is annoying, since presumably my membership is good for 365 days a year, not 330 or 340 or who knows what. I would at least like a notice posted somewhere a week in advance telling me, Hey, paying members, well be closed next Saturday so we can sell the spaces in the parking lot. That gives me time to adjust my plans. Chaining the doors closed and posting a notice the day of the closure is not good enough. Management will tell you that this information is posted on the website. SOMETIMES it is. But AT BEST (if at all) its posted the DAY OF the closure. So members must go to the website DAILY to find out if the facility is available that day. They dont know these things a week in advance? A sign on the one front door couldnt be posted a week in advance? The website couldnt be updated a week in advance? I commend them for spending a lot of time keeping the place clean. I wish they would spend a LITTLE bit more time keeping the members appraised of when they will be open and when they wont. Holiday season is approaching! This would be a good time to start. I promise to revise this review if you get better.
The Kroc would be better if they did something about all the kids running around unsupervised. Whats the deal? There are so many kids ranging from the ages of 5- 17 just running around the place unsupervised doing whatever they want. When you see someone finally with them( a worker), they are teenagers themselves being just as annoying as they are, just letting the kids do whatever they want. Do any real adults even work there? They should seriously be more structured with these kids and have them more supervised. I have seen kids making out, screaming, cussing, etc and it is annoying. At least seperate workout zones, from the kids. The most annoying place ever.
Weve been members for over a year. The pool is well maintained and our kids love it. Weve also had a couple of birthdays in the Challenge center. Amazing fun for kids and grown ups alike.
My family loves this place. Theres something for everyone to do. The after school program and summer camp is the best.
Nice and clean! I would give it 4 ~5 stars but those after school children are rude and wild. They are unsupervised.
Beautiful well run center that has pools, hot tubs, a large assortment of exercise equipment, group classes for both water based and gym based activities, a large banquet/meeting hall and the local offices for the Salvation Army. The staff members are friendly and always willing to assist members. The Kroc Center participates in the Silver Sneakers program offered through many insurance programs and also have summer camps for children.
This is my choice for exercise and relaxation, without the overwhelming experience of a typical gym. Its family-oriented, so you can just put the whole family in the car and come over. They have something for the entire family, even child care for infants and toddlers while parents exercise and/or workout. Memberships are available with some special discounts.
Have only been twice, but this recreation center has it all, including the biggest hot tub Ive ever seen. This is way more than a gym, or even a fitness center. Besides the treadmills and the strength training apparatus in the fitness rooms, there is a fully outfitted gymnasium, a sports turf, a barre room, a playground; and a multi-faceted aquatic center that includes an enclosed three story spiral slide, a splash pool, a laps pool, and one ginormous hot tub. Theres a theater, a cafe, a chapel, an art studio, classrooms, a child care room, showers, a fire pit, a central courtyard with tables and chairs for relaxing or working, and a multi-purpose hall. There are general classes included with your membership, that range from yoga for seniors to fitness for the pre-school set. You can work out on the fitness equipment exercise in the pool with a group, or swim laps alone; you can take a Zumba class, shoot baskets, or hone your soccer skills. There are classes and programs for every age, and every level of fitness. For a very reasonable additional fee, you can have a personal trainer, or take more focused, intensive classes. There are regular plays put on by the school-age crowd, art classes and exhibits, worship services, and comfortable spaces to catch up on homework or email. The staff is largely young, energetic, enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. And of course, theres the cafe, where you can get health drinks and smoothies, salads and sandwiches, desserts and vending machine snacks.Quite the book, this review has turned into, but theres much to do and to see at the Kroc Center. I have only touched the surface of its possibilities and offerings. Having meant to try it since it opened, I only wish Id gotten around to doing so sooner. This place is fun.BTW, so far I have only gone to the Yoga for Seniors class twice, and love it. Dr Ruth, the instructor, is tough and demanding, while at the same time being supportive and encouraging. She seems a wonderful yoga instructor. Ill return with reviews of different things as I try them, but I imagine that as with everything else in life, there will be both good and bad, exceptional and humdrum. Overall, this place works. So far, at least, and for me.
Best Fitness Center in town. It has everything you need.
Good food
The facility is clean but we continue to have things stolen. Jackets, basketballs, phones..... My car has been keyed in the parking lot. Each time the staff says they cant help. They dont have access to the video and when we turn in an incident for the video to be reviewed each time they say they found nothing. I dont like feeling like I cant set my jacket down for a few minutes and it not be there when I turn around. Or, that I cant park my car without it getting damaged. My sons phone was the last thing stolen. He was in the gym, it was in his bag. Someone actually opened his gym bag and took his phone. There are cameras in the gym and that was not a deterrent. Very frustrating. His basketball has his name written all over it and it also walked away. It would be awesome to be able to fellowship with people in this environment without getting robbed every other visit.
