Im very impressed with the level of service at Steves Tire & Auto. I dropped my car off at 7:30am to have my radiator replaced and it was ready for pick up by 1:30pm. The employees were very friendly and helpful, very pleasant experience while they were diagnosing my car and estimating the cost. I recommend them and Ill be going back for my future auto maintenance.

They had excellent customer service! We were 3 ladies from out of town. The got us a tow truck and got our broke down car figured out and fixed by the end of the day. I didnt think pricing was bad especially for how quick they were. Their bathrooms were clean and the office was very tastefully decorated.

My truck overheated driving through Memphis. I checked out Google Reviews for auto repair shops in the area and this one had strong reviews. Vic at the shop was very professional and easy to work with in getting a diagnosis on the truck. The shop seemed very well run and the customer service was very good. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a trusted repair shop.

Hit me with a $10.40 shop/service fee at checkout after never mentioning it during initial price quotes. Bought 1 tire and they said they would put best 2 in front. They didnt do it. Parking is bad. Told me I was lucky it was done in a day because how busy they were.

Posting this to draw attention to their absolute refusal to maintain control of the parking around their business. Patrons and their own staff park vehicles in a No Parking Zone that impedes the safety and flow of traffic entering and exiting N Evergreen and Poplar Ave. No, I have no idea how well they repair cars. Not sure anyone living on N Evergreen would use them because of their inconsiderate treatment of their neighbors.

My vehicle wasn’t starting and I assumed it was just my battery. Welp couldn’t even get it jumpstarted for some reason. Called these guys and they got me a tow set up for my cat to be brought to their shop. Ran a diagnostics test and turned out it was the alternator. Replaced that for me. My car was still having trouble starting. Because I had spent such a chunk of change Travis threw in a battery free of charge and that was the fix my car needed after that. Travis and Vic are great with running the place and I’ll be back!

Well here is a picture of the original diagnosis. Only parts that were actually needed were brake pedal plug, left cooling fan, thermostat, and brake flush. Do your research before you believe what these guys tell you.Steve is a nice guy, but I cant say his shops have honesty or integrity based on my experience.

I can’t say enough good things about this shop! We made an appointment, my husband talked to them about our vehicle snd the issues. My husband dropped off the car late that afternoon and they brought him back home. They called first thing in the morning next day and the car was ready for pickup. They came and picked up my husband the prices were fair. Oh my gosh - since my husband retired from auto repair after 35+ years and he can no longer do this type of work it is so nice to find this gem of a place with honest caring people and customer service. WOW IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!! I have never been to any business that was so well operated! My husband and I needed a lot of stuff done on our truck and called to see when we could bring it in. They were happy to get us in right away. We walked in and Travis greeted us and knew right away what we were there for and had everything organized as in order for the work to be done. We left the truck expecting to to take at least a day or so due to all the work needed but Travis called us that same day and said it was finished! Unbelievable! They were so nice, friendly and professional! Shout out to the BEST tire and auto we have ever dealt with! They certainly earned our business for the future!

I purchased a set of new tires here and had some belts replaced and other routine service. The belts started squeaking so I had to go back to get that fixed. The tires started going flat right away so I had to return for that also. They said the valves on three were leaking. They fixed that and then I realized they had left the air caps off so I returned a third time to get those replaced. I honesty wonder if the tires were genuinely new, as I was charged for. At the least it was an inconvenient pain in the rear for what should have been a single visit for basic service.

First class organization, they fixed my sun roof that wouldnt close, very quickly and easily.. will use them again. Good location in Midtown.

Great for wheel and tire issues. I took one of my trucks tires in to get it patched. Pretty good work as the tire is still holding strong a year later.I replace the tie rods on my truck and was in need of an alignment. The truck drives straight and it was for a reasonable price.I replaced the shocks on my truck and ended up breaking a small mounting bolt off in the lower control arm. With threads exposed on both sides of were the bolt broke off they decided to go straight to drilling. I agreed as I was told the threads on the control arm would be left, aka everything will be returned to its proper function. Well that didnt happen and they drilled out the threads as well. So the solution presented was to cap off everything with another bolt and another nut and charge $135 for 10 minutes of drilling.So good for tires and related issues but not good for actual mechanic work.

I was traveling to Memphis and ran over a rock. I ended up needing a new tire. They were really busy and it was an hour before closing. Even though they were really busy they fixed it right away for me. They were really prompt and reasonably priced. I really appreciate that they took the time to fix my tire. The people at the front desk were so friendly. If Im ever in Memphis and having car trouble I will be sure to go back herr.

New to Midtown Memphis so finding a convenient and honest tire/auto can be a harrowing experience. Had a flat on Monday so took a chance on going just down the block to STA. They were prompt-got our tire fixed within the hour, competent-checked out other issues and werent leery of a Subaru, and friendly-fixed another tire we hadnt realized was also leaking for free and immediately tried to find the most convenient location and way to drop off our car and get us home. Great shop and good neighbors!

Steve’s Midtown was great when they first opened. The last time we were in, they performed an expensive, unnecessary repair and installed a new part that failed immediately. They refused to rectify the situation, and we had to go to the dealer. I don’t know what happened to this business— they really went downhill.Sorry, Steve. We were initially delighted when you opened a second location, as it was closer to our home. We tried to resolve this situation when it happened, and were told to go elsewhere.

No complaints. Fixed my car right and job was done in a timely manner. First job. I just called and Monday I was told $350 parts and labor to put an ALTERNATOR on my other car. Called today he told he $472. Almost $500 to put a friggin part on. The price difference has cause time to go somewhere else. I called just to verify and the prices are RIDICULOUS!! Paid $700 the first time for other car just for a belt. Now this is getting out of hand!!

Will never do business here again . Prices way too high. They fix things on your vehicle that didnt need to be fixed. But guess what ? You cant prove it. Took my 1999 ford f-150 up there to have the water pump replaced. Final bill . $700. Why ? Because they said they replaced the thermostat ( didnt ask for this to be done ). They replaced the fan clutch assembly ( it comes with the water pump as one piece ( but they charged for it separate). Attempted to charge to have the heater core replaced and I call them out on it and then their story changes and says its not the heater core is air box leaking. They claim they replaced the serpentine belt . But before they towed it, I just put a new serpentine belt on it. And didnt even CRANK IT!Final totalthermostat. -$25 in the stores its $8Serpentine belt -$60 in the stores its $32 but didnt need one .Water pump -$60Fan clutch assembly. -$100. WP/FCA come together for $80 in the store with a lifetime warranty!Coolant . -$17Total parts price -$262. In stores $130. Almost double .Labor. -$438.And after all that . I paid for it. Walked out and was like damn. I should have asked to see if they do veteran discounts . I call and ask and they said we sure do. I said ok Im on my way back. Then he said. Oh we cant do it now. You should have asked that before you paid for it. Thanks buddy. Thanks .Never go here period.

This will be my go to repair station from now on. I brought my car in because it had a rumbling noise coming from the front end. They were able to find the problem and fix it. While fixing the problem that I arrived with a new problem was created or possibly uncovered. Either way, they offered to fix it with no extra charge if I could bring it in again since they were closing soon and I needed the car that night. Also, the new problem was not dangerous, only annoying. I brought it back and the car was fixed and I was out the door. I appreciate the honesty and completeness of the work here.

I pulled into the parking lot at work recently, having just had a bad experience with what I thought was my transmission. I feared driving it and really needed to go into the office, but all the transmission shops were miles away. I called Steves on the off chance they could help and was told to come on in. I did, and they drove me back to work. They solved what turned out to be a thermostat problem and even came to work to get me later that day. They couldnt have been nicer, and the shop is spotless and shows nice attention to design. I feel confident in their honesty, since they could have taken advantage of my emergency and lack of expertise. I will definitely go back.

Nice people, bad experience!Took my truck here to get repaired and was told it needed cam sensors, radiator flush, and a thermostat. Cost over $800. Picked up the next day and that evening it started acting weird, then the service engine light started flashing and truck was shaking. Took back to their other location since this location is closed on Saturdays and they tell me I need another engine at the tune of over $5000. Needless to say, I got my truck from their shop. It did not have this issue prior to bringing it there. Again...nice people, bad experience!Update: Getting 2nd opinion and seeking legal advice.

We had been looking for a neighborhood auto-mechanic and found exactly what we were looking for at Steves Auto. The guys at Steves are courteous and I trust them with their recommendations related to my car. Hard to believe, but they actually make car maintenance and repair enjoyable!

Ripped off!!!Bought 2 14 in. stock replacement rims for my civic for 200$ from these guys which I thought was a little high but what the heck I was already getting 2 of my studs on the back passenger side replaced because the old bent rim on the car caused the studs to shear off. When I went to my car to leave I noticed the rims were used, now I dont mind used rims but for 100$ each I think thats a rip off. I went back in and said that I thought I was gettin new rims and the guy said that he told me they would be used and that this was a pretty good deal. Well he didnt tell me that they would be used and that is not a good deal. What a rip off !! Never again will I return... Not the way to do business.

They told me that my steering rack was broke and it would cost me over $800 for a new one. I took it for a second opinion and they said it was only in need of tightening and that it wasnt broke. And the place didnt even charge me for that. All Im saying I wouldnt trust their results, it may end up costing you big time!

I was in Memphis from Little Rock for work, and went to Steves with a miss in my engine and a check engine light, needing a spark plug and wire change. They overcharged at $320. Got halfway back to Little Rock and got a new check engine light. Took it to my regular shop, they told me the wiring had been routed by the muffler and burned through, and one of the spark plugs had been over tightened and cracked. Got it fixed, went back the next week asking for a refund and, after about 20 minutes of talking, was told they would ask the owner would call me. They never called, and wont answer my calls. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Previous experiences had been great at Steves. I was bit frustrated on this visit, however (hence 3 stars). I had a run-flat tire with a slow leak that I wanted checked. Although the tire manufacturer has a repair procedure (fixable in most circumstances). The response I received was that it would not be repairable, and that a new tire would be needed. Very disappointed on this visit.

I have always received quality service at an affordable price here, but I waited an hour and paid $29.50 to have a tire patched today. I thought that was a little much for just a tire patch, considering the average is $10 to $20, and some even do it for free.

Last week was my fourth trip to Steve’s Tire and Auto Repair, in recent years. I am not going through all the details, but after the repairs, this week the coolant drained out and my car over-heated. I called them, they sent out a wrecker, made the repairs, NO CHARGE!!Someone made a mistake, but they made it right. Who could ask any more from your repair shop.

As I sit here in Steves Tire and Auto lobby using their free WiFi, I am just so impressed with this business. I am only here for a simple 20$ oil change, but their professionalism, friendliness, and customer service is just top notch. Thomas here at the counter greets everyone who comes in, and even if hes on the phone, he will let you know hell be with you shortly or hell put the phone on hold to quickly get you started. This is a touch that is lost on alot of customer service folks, most people just glance at you then finish their phone call.Their facilities are immaculate, I mean TOP NOTCH. Its so clean and well kept that I feel like Im in a doctors office not an auto shop. Ive never been to an auto shop that is so well maintained, and their paperwork system and service techs seem to have a very efficient system going on.Furthermore, their prices are very reasonable considering how upkept and professional and centrally located their business is. Right on Poplar about 8 minutes from 240 exit.I highly recommend this place and will be using them again for more extensive auto repairs in the future. Thanks!

It is a rare and wonderful thing to find a business who will treat you right and fairly, especially when expensive and complicated repairs are on the line. In my experience, auto mechanics who practice this kind of treatment are few and far between. Steves Tire and Auto is a welcome exception to this generality. I highly recommend them for this upfront pricing, honesty, and general high-quality business practice.Perhaps a true anecdote best demonstrates the kind of business that Steve runs. I had some last-minute work done at Steves East Memphis location before taking two vehicles on a permanent move from Memphis to Minnesota. Steve fit me in that day. As it turns out, there were a number of problems that needed to be fixed. Yet, every hour or so, I would receive a phone call, updating me on the progress, and letting me know of any more uncovered problems. In the end the work was done in about 6 hours, and the car ran well. The next morning (the morning of my move), I had to run an errand and noticed some growling in the front end. On the way back to my house, I swung in and asked them about the noise. They immediately put it on the hoist and discovered a bad wheel bearing. Though this was not something that had been replaced the day before, Steve simply said that something might have happened while they were doing other front-end work, so they would replace it at no cost. They did so immediately and an hour later, it was ready. Then I left Memphis. 400 miles later, I stopped in Hannibal, MO after hearing a similar sound coming from the front-end again. I called Steves shop to ask what they suggest I do. They told me to have it checked out and requested that I let them know what was discovered. So I had a Hannibal mechanic look at it, and he discovered that the bearing which Steves shop had installed was defective. As they requested, I called and told them what the verdict was. Upon hearing that it was the same problem that they had fixed earlier that day, Steve asked for my address and told me he would be sending me a refund for the cost of the repair in Hannibal.To clarify, Steve refunded me the cost of a repair for a repair that he had done for free even though he knew I was leaving Memphis. He knew that because I had permanently left town, he was not earning any more of my business and that I would most likely never see him again. Yet he did so apparently out of a sense of integrity and honesty. That is a remarkable trait for anybody. It is a welcome character trait in a mechanic.You can bet that if I still lived in Memphis, I would send all my business to Steve. But since I do not, a Google review is the least I can do. In summary, Steves Auto and Tire is highly recommended as a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and high-quality mechanic shop by me, an individual who has witnessed their superior customer service.
