Doug was very sweet we had a nail in our tire and I called I was 15 minutes away he told me to come in and it would take him 5 minutes to fix it and thats all it took. We are from Louisiana and every other place said they couldnt fix it same day... I would recommend this shop 100%... thank you!

Always taking great care of my car!

I go here every time I have a problem and the issue has been resolved each time. I once broke a key and didnt realize the engine wont start if the keys internal chip is damage. Instead of ripping me off and charging me hundreds potentially, he told me just tape the keys handle together and itll work until I can order a new key from the dealer. The solution worked like a charm, and he helped me for free in that case. Definitely recommend this place.

Im from out of state. My car broke down, they had it fixed the same day I had it towed. Everyone is very kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Plus my bill didnt break the bank, it was very reasonably priced. If Im ever back in Memphis and need work done, I will definitely take my car here. I highly recommend them.

Doug is one amazing man. The entire business is fantastic. Okay! Unbelievable short story. My credit card slid down my windshield in between the dash. I was told to take it to Doug and boy did I get an awesome recommendation. Doug stop what he was doing and came to my recuse. It took him less than 30 seconds to remove my credit card from my dash without removing my windshield. I was told by another auto shop that my windshield would have to be remove in order to recover my credit card but not with Doug. This man also educated me on another issue I had with my car. What an awesome place of business. I would recommend Doug and his business to the world. I am beyond grateful for the things he did for me. Most probably wouldn’t think this was much but it was absolutely perfect for me. He saved me over $1000. Thanks Doug you are the best.

Good shop, good quality and cares about his work.

Ladies, do not go here. I have used Dougs for business and personal vehicles. First of all, the kid at the front desk with the man-bun is rude and disrespectful. Secondly, I was told when I dropped my car in the morning that it would be finished by closing. I was not told until 4:30pm that it wouldnt be ready until the next day. So I had to hire 2 Ubers to get home and back to work the next day which cost over $50 on top of the $700 bill from Dougs. Later, I showed the invoice to a mechanic I know in another town and he said I should not have been charged 4 hours labor for what was actually a 2 hour job and that the bill was about $160 more than it should have been anywhere else.

Doug’s Automotive has worked on three of my family vehicles ranging in age from classic antique, to recent. His staff have the knowledge to troubleshoot and rapidly fix them all, and for a very fair price. They are also extremely courteous and responsive to phone updates. We are very impressed.

So me and my fiancé decided to go see family and we drove 2 hours from home to do so. Well unexpectedly our car broke down and it was the brakes. We slept in the car for two days waiting for my paycheck and we finally got the car to Dougs Automotive. They went out of their way to help us and I couldn’t be more thankful to of found good people. Not only that my my dogs were with me.

Its a pathetic shop. Never give a correct price. Price can increase at any time. Not reliable at all. Stay away from this shop and look for a better one.

Picture this: You pull into the lot and see vehicles of all types. Except for the customer parking, the lot seems nearly full.You pull in, park, and walk through the front door. To your right, you see the waiting room, with big couches and recliners, backed by vending machines. Windows encircle the room. It is simply decorated, but clean-smelling.You turn to your left, and you hear a friendly voice on the phone. His name is Phil, and even though hes explaining something to a customer, he still nods your way with a welcoming smile. As soon as hes off the phone, he greets you by name if youve been there before, and wants to know your name if you havent. He is busy, but not to busy to chat with you or even trade jokes while he works.You explain your need, Phil writes it down, and gives you the low down before your job even gets to a mechanic. You immediately feel like he runs a competent shop -- but hes not the guy in charge. Hes just the first face.The guy in charge, Doug himself, strolls quickly into the room, explaining something complicated to a customer while he snatches up the next work order. he calls something back to one of his mechanics in the back, but you dont hear more than a muffled answer.He, too, greets you by name, if he knows you, and always asks what you need as if he is eager to get to work, and regardless of whether your request is simple or complex, it doesnt change his expression.Your vehicle is in good hands.

I’ve had some repairs, fixed flats, purchased tires, had brakes done, and had several oil changes done here since spring of 2018. As someone who isn’t native to Memphis, I have been so relieved to have found a shop of this quality. The prices, customer service, and work done are much better than either chain stores or other shops I’ve tried in Shelby Co. This is the only auto shop I use anymore. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Needed my tire plugged after driving over a screw somewhere. Was dreading waiting for a long time with two little girls. Took it to Doug’s and it was fixed before they could even finish the drink they got out of the vending machine! Very friendly staff and speedy service! Will definitely be back!

These guys are the best. Its so funny how i found out about Dougs Automotive my lawnmower didnt want to start so i goggle lawnmower repair so the first repair store had a waiting period of 5 weeks. Dougs was the nearest one to me so went. When I inter Dougs Automotive they dont repair lawnmowers but these guys are so good they still work on my lawnmower and they fixed it. I really, really wanted Dougs to be my go to place since I havent been able to find a trustworthy automotive shop since moving to Bartlett.I was quoted over $500 for a distributor to be replaced on my SUV. When I performed a quick search online, I found I could get a brand new distributor for $60. In addition, I found a video showing how to change the distributor in under 30 minutes.Now, I am fine with paying for a service, but I ask, where exactly is the $440? I know their rates are $100/hr, but are you going to tell me that it takes 4.4 hours to change the distributor??Granted, I did call AutoZone and they quoted an absurd amount of $275 for the same part. Fine. Lets use the overpriced part. That leaves $250. So does it take 2.5 hours to fix this, when I, not being a mechanic was able to fix in less than 30 minutes??I asked to have my car back and I was informed the diagnostic is $100, which you know, a machine does in just a couple of minutes. I paid it.I will not be back for return business. I cant stand businesses that take advantage of people, especially if you dont know anything about cars.Too bad because I always recommend people to the businesses I like and trust...

They seem to really care. They are fair priced and do not suggest tons of things to be repaired beyond what they are working on. I dont usually write reviews, but due to the fact that I was badly ripped off I wanted to inform people about it. I went to Dougs Automotive to get freon put in my car. I was charged $145 only to get in my car with lightly blowing warm air. I went back inside to inform the guy(I forgot his name) about it and he goes to tell me my compressor is out. That defeats the purpose of putting freon in my car. The compressor is what makes the air work. Highly upset! If I could rate for 0 stars I would have. I knew nothing about a compressor leak and was not informed about it until after the service provided. Then they commented and said they advised me not to get the freon put in my car. Lol I wasnt informed about the compressor until after the freon was put in my car. Of course theyll say anything to cover their butt.

These guys are some of the best mechanics in the Memphis area! they are fair and honest. They only do the work that needs to be done. They were polite and helpful with everything I needed. Had a slow air leak in my tire. Friend recommended this auto shop and even called to see if he could check it for me. When I arrived I was shown the waiting area. My brake caliper bolts were stuck on both sides so I took the whole assembly off and went to gateway to see if theyll take them out. Didnt expect anything for free but they wanted 90 bucks even if it turns out they couldnt remove them AND said it would take an hour. No thank you. I went to Dougs and he was done in 5 minutes. Super friendly staff, fast and efficient service, and would highly recommend Dougs Automotive to everyone. I cant thank you enough Doug! You will be my number one go to from now on.

My sister took her car to Doug after her car dealership said that she needed over $300 of work done on her SUV ..After checking everything out, the mechanic at Dougs told her that she did not need any of the repairs that were listed on the worksheet from the dealership. They did not even charge her for the diagnostic evaluation!!! She is retired and is on a limited budget .What a relief and a financial blessing !! Honest, fast, quality work. Ive been taken advantage of at mechanic shops before and had to go back again and again for the same reason. At Dougs, Ive always felt like hes doing me a favor. He fixes the problem for good. The mechanics and the front office workers were always nice. And hes very honest. And very competitive prices for labor.

These people are so lost... they think.. its ok to charge $60-$90 for an alignment that cant be done. Its not the customers job to know everything about what repairs are needed. Its the technicians job to confirm the customers complaint then tell the customer how much the repair is. This no good shop tried to charge me for an alignment that couldnt be done because they wanted way too much for the tie rod end that was also needed. After I declined the repair...they tried to charge for an alignment that couldnt be done or a surprise diagnosis charge which was even higher. I thought the technician was good but the guy and lady at the service desk was no good... Dont trust these no good money scamming scum bags! They tried to take advantage of me & rip me off... Dont give them the chance to do that to you.

That place is so unprofessional!!!! The ladies at front desk have very little education and they act like the scum of the earth the black lady I spoke with was ignorant and ghetto and the white lady I spoke to sounded like a woman from a trailer park. I mean the dumbest women work for that place. The place is owned by an incompetent woman who knows nothing about cars. If they didnt have a male mechanic the place would be useless. I have never seen a shop run so awful. They tried to charge me three times what the repairs should cost and they kept changing the prices and on top of that they tried to charge me for services I didnt ask for. That place is the worst shop in the city. They have all women who run the place that dont know anything about cars or running a front office. Im sick at how that place is being run.

I took my car in because the air condition wasnt working and get a diagnostics on my car to see what all need to be done to get up and running better. I had to take my car back the air went out and they didnt run a real diagnostics. No written detail of what the did. A few days later the air stopped working. Now they say the wires to the compressor are bad why didnt they check that in the first place. On top of paying 238.00 they want to charge 360.00 more now way.

Dougs Automotive is hands down the best place in the memphis area to get your car repaired. My wife and i have used him many times including when her brand new car was rearended. Id been told that my rear motor mount needed to be changed by another mechanic. This place is awesome enough that they will let you bring your own parts and theyll install them. They found out that it wasnt the rear mount but the two side mounts that needed to be changed (which Id already purchased in a set) and switched them out for less than it would have cost to have the rear mount changed. I cant tell you how awesome it is to have a mechanic tell you that you your bill is lower than expected. They also gave me a free quote for a cv joint that I needed to be replaced. To me things like that speak volumes about the character of the employees at Dougs Automotive. They definitely earned my loyalty. Hats off to the people working at the front desk theyre extremely helpful and polite!
