I have nothing but good things to say about Sunny Meadows! They were so kind and helpful, and it was obvious how much they cared for the animals there. I would recommend to anyone!
Its a little difficult to get the Dogs. They stall away and give You the running around about the. dog You really interested in and I understand they have to be careful but My God I know Ill be a Good Pet owner Ive had Dogs in the pass
Why would they put pet for adoption when they don’t even respond back or answer calls. This is the worst adoption place! I wouldn’t even give a star. For future reference learn how to communicate.
Very Friendly and helpful. You can tell they have a love for animals. Not just a business! Would highly recommend!!
I really do not like having to give a rescue a review, as I generally just love the fact that they are doing great things for animal; however, this needs to be brought to their attention. I submitted an application for a dog I was really interested in adding to our family. I was open to other dogs as well, but this particular one seemed like a great fit. After not hearing back for several days, I tried to call to see if there was anything I could do or any questions I could answer to help in their decision. No answer so I left a voicemail, but no one ever called me back. I called since then and the voicemail box is full. I have also reached out via their contact us section, via email, via Facebook, and via Instagram, all with no response or even acknowledgement of my attempts. The only reason I know I didn’t get the dog is because I saw that he was removed from the adoptable pets list. So unprofessional- I wanted very badly to give a dog a home from their shelter, but to no avail. I wish them the best of luck, but I really hope they learn to be more responsive to the people who are willing to open their homes to their adoptable pets.
Been trying to get ahold of this place for a week now about an available kitten. Id rather them just tell me they didnt like my application for some reason. Its like they dont want to find homes for these animals unless they know the person personally. I cant even MEET the kitten to see if its a good fit. Ive given them permission to come to my house even and I just dont know what else I can do.Update:They have adopted out the kitten. I am heartbroken. I never was able to get ahold of them and they gave me no indication of whether or not my application was rejected. I found out because they removed him from petfinder.
I attempted to adopt a small puppy. And since I live in an apartment which is gated and have no house with a fence. I cant adopt. And I dont have vet history. Just like a job how can someone get history if they dont give thema chance. I was looking for company since im home alone now. I have pet history growing up we always had pets. I believe they give them to whom they want to . So disappointed.
Nice place but the adoption fee was hidden on the website. The price wasnt listed and we didnt know until after we got ready to leave. Sadly we will not be adopting this pet for $100. One reason I didnt like, the staff have to come to the home to make sure pet has a safe place to live. He is cute, but I am afraid he will never be adopted unless someone doesnt mind the home visit. Please adopt this pet because he deserves to have a loving family too.
Absolutely best place to adopt a pet
I volunteered at Sunny Meadows in the summer of 2019. I was so impressed with the love and care they give their animals, I knew this is where I wanted to return to when the time was right to adopt a dog. After submitting an application, I was contacted by Colby Stevens. He had clearly spent time reviewing the details and the parameters of what I was looking for. He took the time to share about a selection of dogs that he thought could be a good fit. I then scheduled an appointment. While at Sunny Meadows, Colby took plenty of time to let me meet each dog. The right choice became obvious and my whole family has been in love ever since. I highly recommend Sunny Meadows when youre ready to add a fur-baby to the family.I really appreciate the time they spend vetting potential adopters. That shows such care for the animals. I have looked at various rescue sites and postings for re-homing and found their adoption fee to be the most reasonable, especially given the work they do.
These people know what theyre doing. The moment you pull up you see this place is a labor of love. Amy was fantastic, extremely warm and very inviting. We met Lola and fell in love. Highly recommend.
I have applied to adopt two different dogs. Both times I have had the MOST difficult time getting in touch with anyone - I reached out on Petfinder, submitted an application, emailed, called, left voicemails. One of my applications was eventually rejected due to not having a vet reference listed, which wasn’t required on the application. I called, emailed & resubmitted my application with that information & no one would get back with me. Both dogs were adopted and no one answered my inquiries. I understand & fully support having guidelines to follow but it is incredibly unprofessional to not answer people. Unfortunately I will be looking to adopt elsewhere and I will be recommending to friends that they also look elsewhere.
I am still waiting to hear back from them regarding if my application has been approved to adopt a small dog
No help at all, just soliciting donations
Doesn’t return phone calls, emails, or messages. Spent over a week trying to set up appointment to see a dog we badly wanted to adopt. Extremely disappointed
Wonderful place, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They take excellent care of the animals and it is clear they truly love them. You do have to contact them through email which is fine. Their phones have been down for quite some time the director does her best to answer all the emails in a timely manor. Highly recommend this rescue!
I’ve called so many times within the last 2 weeks and sent several emails and never hear a word back. I was really hoping to adopt a senior or adult dog ( I had picked out I truly wanted) but no one returns emails or texts 😔
Looking for a small dog.
I have sent multiple emails over the course of 3 weeks trying to adopt a dog with no reply. I have also called numerous times and no answer and voicemail is always full!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND, PETS NEED FOREVER HOMES
My boyfriend and I adopted a dog from here today. All of the staff that we met were incredibly nice. Our dog had been with them for quite a few years, and its clear that even though they have alot of dogs to care for, theyre all given lots of love and great care. Not only does she have a sweet and loving personality, but she has a beautiful shiny coat and bright eyes. It was plainly clear that they love the dogs they care for. Also, they bathed my dog before bringing her to us, which I thought was really great. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this rescue. Ill definitely be looking to them when the time to adopt another dog comes
I’ve been calling for 3 weeks and not one single return phone call returned!!! I donated $100 and I wanted to adopt 2 dogs that I’ve been asking about...not one single answer!!!IS THIS PLACE EVEN OPEN?!?!
The people were nice but I picked a dog for adoption and filled out paperwork.Never heard anything at all after 2-3 calls and voice mailsMakes people who would be great adoption moms wonder whats going on at the facility.I talked with another person who experienced the same problems.Very disappointed
They are so wonderful and have the best customer service. Employees so are nice and helpful! Will definitely use them in the future!
Awesome job
Wonderful place to find a pet. Staff was very friendly.Updated my review to 3 stars, my mother tried to adopt from here. They made her wait 15 days to find out if she could get the dog she applied for, she had to keep contacting them for an answer and in the end they gave the dog to someone who already had a dog. When we met the dog and when she asked about the dog no one mentioned the need to have playmate if they had my mom could have moved on. This is just to illustrate that the application process needs improvement.
I adopted a miniature poodle from Sunny Meadows this past March. Everyone at the facility was friendly and well-informed on their animals. I was impressed with the cleanliness and order of the shelter, too. I filled out the necessary paperwork for Jack, on a Saturday, heard back from them on Sunday, and I picked up my sweet dog the following Tuesday! I was very impressed with them, and I would recommend adopting from them. There are so many sweet animals that need a home, and I am so happy to have found Jack!
I’ve known Sunny Meadows and their staff for years now. The animals are their top priority and they will go above and beyond to make sure each dog gets the utmost care and gets the treatment they need to live a happy and healthy life 😊👍🏻
We adopted Carter a few years ago. We emailed the staff and filled out the application. We explained that we were looking for a dog that would be trained and work as a medical service dog for our child we also described that the dog would need to be over 2 house broken, and able to follow simple commands. Not only did they help guide us to which dog would be perfect for our needs, the fact that Carter had the natural instinct needed to help our son was a plus. I have read the negative reviews and I can see why some people had a problem. First did you have a system in place in which you would have help in training and loving the dog? Did you already have a vet picked out? And if you are out of the home most of the time (where family pets are not allowed) is everyone looking for a puppy? I can say that we discovered Carter had some fears of larger dogs, loud noises, and walking on the street side of the sidewalk. All indicating that he was rescued from a place that probably used puppies as dog fighting bait/training. We have had friends since adopt from there who have had wonderful experiences, but they knew that a new pet in the home meant more than getting toys, food, leash, and bowls. There are decisions to make for daily care, on going health care, training, and how much companionship you can provide for the new member of your family.
Allow me to preface this comment by stating I have rescued dogs and cats for 40 years. A rescue organization who doesnt bother to respond to an obviously qualified adopter is extremely irresponsible. I visited the facility and completed an application for a handsome male Yorkshire Terrier. As a rescuer, I understand that I may not be approved for my first choice, but I wanted to adopt a dog so that there would be space at the facility to rescue and save another dogs life. I listed three dogs I was interested in as back-up choices. I have been waiting NEARLY TWO MONTHS without a response. The Yorkie will be an emotional support dog for my Fiancè who is a disabled Veteran. He just lost his emotional support dog and is extremely lonely. I suppose they dont want to find excellent homes for the dogs they have to make room to save more: Very disappointing.
Not what they say they are..
Adopted 2 beautiful little girls here .. both were puppy mill rescues.. the staff at Sunny Meadows truly cares
Didnt go.
They lost our application so we filled out another one like we were told and then they refused me because the dog we already have in the home is not fixed..if these people are so desperate for these dogs to be adopted out and have good homes why are they being so damn picky?
Great place!!! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is clear that they truly care about the animals, wonderful people!!!
Had a wonderful experience with Sunny Meadows. We adopted our sweet Schnauzer Charlie from there about 1 1/2 years ago. They were very caring and knowledgeable of his history. We completed all of the required paperwork and received a call later the same day. We are so thankful that they checked our vet reference and always look out for the best interest of these babies fur-ever homes. We had no problem getting in to see the animals, in fact he was not the first one that we had gone there to see, but found him while we walked freely throughout the facility. No pet rescue is perfect, Sunny Meadows saves a lot of lives and we are so thankful that they brought us Charlie. I would recommend them to anyone.R. Andry
This is a good place to look if you are in the market for a rescue animal pet. They have cats and dogs. The facility seems small but they have a lot of animals. The animals are well cared for. The facility is not open a lot, which is my guess as to why the animals are there a long time.
My rescue pal, Luke, came through Sunny Meadows. I think these folks do a remarkable job with what they have to work with, and deserve support and whatever community assistance they can get. They place an amazing number of pets with forever homes and their door is always open to another one seeking a family. Dedicated and caring staff.
Sunny Meadows is a great animal rescue. They take great care of the animals and the staff is wonderful.
I got the dog lucky their and he has been a great dog ever since their service is great and they always try to make sure their dogs are going to a safe environment
If you ever want to rescue a dog this is the place! They take these animals in, no matter what condition, make sure they are taken care of by a veterinarian, and love these animals as their own. There is no better place to find your forever pet!
Great customer service. The lady was very helpful in finding the right pet for me.
I will start by saying that the animals seem well cared for, but they always brought the dog that we were interested in out to us. So we couldnt see the living conditions of the animals. The kitchen area where we played with the dog smelled like urine. The rescue shelter itself wasnt clean....but the animal definitely was. I am only giving this shelter a 1 because of the poor communication between the director and us as an applicant. We waited over 3.5 weeks to hear back about a dog, despite multiple emails from me to them. We even our kids up there three times to play with it - only to hear that our application was denied due to our other dog (but it took 3.5 weeks for our application to even be reviewed). Very poor from a customer service and business standpoint.
This is the worst place to go. I felt a disgusting bias from the woman. She wouldnt even look me in my face to answer my questions. Was bothered that I even had the audacity to ask any. There was no visible food or water In any of the kennels or about the shelter. How do you not adopt to first time adopters? Thats just plain wrong and ruined my childs adoption experience . I regret taking him. You could tell they do not put any effort, thought or care toward the appearance and cleanliness of the facility. The staff was far from friendly . We walked in and had to guess where to go and what to do although you could hear and see people. It was a gosh darn shame.
Our family adopted our first two dogs from Sunny Meadows. During the time we were there, I was impressed by both the cleanliness of the facilities and the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff, with no complaints whatsoever.Based on those personal experiences, I would highly recommend this very competent facility to anyone who was looking adopt a pet in the Mid-South area.
WORST ADOPTION PLACE EVER!!!!!! We had a HORRIBLE experience with the owner. I fell in love with a Maltese puppy while she was still at the hospital, and I was so dedicated to this puppy. I went to visit her everyday and was totally convinced that I would be able to have this puppy. I named her Bailey, and was super excited. This adoption agency told me that they wanted me to have her AND came over to my house and analyzed and judged us, which ended in the final answer of them saying they would bring her back to us in about an hour! I rushed to Target to buy her TONS of puppy accessories, and I get a call about 2 hours later. So, they decided that we were not the best owners for her because we needed another small puppy to keep her company. I was hysterical and could not stand talking to these people one second longer. Anyone who leads someone on that they will be getting a puppy is an EVIL person. I cant stand this organization!!!!
Absolutely great people 💕💕 I have adopted several of my babies over the years.
Excellent service! They do such great work!
These were the best! I got my father-in-law 2 puppies at Sunny Meadows, and he is in love!!! Amy and her staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make this happen. Couldnt have been happier! Thank you Sunny Meadows!
The staff is amazing and knowledgeable. The foster process was simple and convenient for me. Whenever I have a concern they quickly respond.
Nice concept, good people, but not as clean as I would have liked to have seen it. I think the intentions are good and I intend to donate.
This is a wonderful place. These workers and volunteers truly do this from their heart. My mother and my twelve year old son volunteer here every Saturday for the last five years.keep up the good work sunny Meadows.
I have never been to sunny meadows, but my friends sometimes volunteer there. They are non kill and my best friend loves the cats, and another good friend loves the dogs. i have never heard a negative thing about it.
Dont adopt here!!!!! They hung up on me when I told them I would only crate a puppy while I was at work until he was house broken.... Then they told me because of that I was abusive and they hung up on me!!! REALLY!!!! They never called me back and never return emails or responded to their online application. I was told they were having management issues.... I love dogs and do not abuse them..... They are very UN professional in business. The dog I was looking at has been there a year in a outside kennel...WHO IS GIVING MORE LOVE? Not a good place to adopt animals...Pet stores sell crates to protect dogs and keep them safe and the local humane society told me they encourage homeowners to do that until they are house broken....Sunny is not Sunny!!!
Beginning to wonder if this is a real place. Been trying contact them for a week to adopt a puppy and no one will answer the phone or return one of our 3 emails!
Supposedly Sunny Meadows only has somebody to answer the phone on Saturday afternoons. Not so. I have called two straight Saturdays. Also emailed them. And snail mailed while enclosing a $50 donation. No response. How can I adopt a dog if they do not answer? I know it is hard to get any work out of a volunteer who does not get paid, but we all want these sweet dogs to find a loving home.
We had a wonderful experience at Sunny Meadows. In fact, we have adopted twice from them (two separate occasions) and bother were perfect. Thank you!!
Sunny Meadows takes the best care of their animals! All of the animals are aken such good care of. I adopted a kitten years ago from them and had no problems what so ever! If someone has something bad to say about the adoption process, its probably because you are psycho and Sunny Meadows doesnt want you to have one of their animals. If you were giving up your pet, would you want them to go to a family of crazy people? Didnt think so.
The staff at Sunny Meadows works extremely hard. It is obvious they do everything they do for the love of the animals. I know I dont have it in me to clean up after 200 dogs, but they do. Thankful for all they do for the animals.
I am a 12 year old boy. My family and I tried to adopt Mia and they gave us the run around and told us lies about adopting her. They told us we had to adopt three dogs to get her and then they adopted one of the three dogs to somebody else and still didnt give us Mia. We are adopting a Yorkie from a nice guy. THis place was awful to us and made us all sad. Please dont be tricked by these people.
Update on Mia-still waiting to hear from Darrelle about adopting Mia....been waiting since October 2012...My husband and I were told that we had to adopt THREE dogs-Mia, Taco and Bella-in order to adopt Mia. We agreed but the owner still wouldnt let us adopt them. She changed the reason to the fact that we havent owned dogs since childhood. THEN, Taco was adopted solo and Mia and Bella are still there. She told us they had all been adopted when we demanded to know what happened. Lies............shady......
They have lots of great animals looking for a good home.
Great people! love their mission!
PLEASE dont listen to the negative reviews. I have adopted a dog and a cat here and have volunteered and fostered
Not helpful when ack about products for 4 week kitten. I waited 10min for someone to help me
Was a quick in and out ..not a lot of waiting
Seeing as they are only open for a couple hours a day, 3 days a week, I have been trying to call since they opened at 12pm today but they have yet to answer and they close at 2pm. Very frustrating and will gladly take my business elsewhere
One review calls anyone with anything negative to say a psycho? Thats just sad. These people are delusional. They wont return phone calls, and it seems you can only adopt if you work there or know someone who works there. Theres a suspicious bias that makes you wonder what is REALLY going on.
We have adopted three pets over the course of 5 years from Sunny Meadows. They truly care for the animals and know all of their personalities well, and so can match an animals temperament to your specific needs.
No phone calls have answer
It was okay saw a couple dogs I liked. The staff was okay, but the place smelled like pee.
I have never had an experience with Sunny Meadows that has not ended pleasantly. Not to mention that new director of the shelter is fabulous. I was having an issue that was frustrating, but I sent an email and received a response and a very sincere apology for the delay and the issue was promptly taken care of. We have adopted both of our babies from Sunny Meadows within the past few years, and I have always had a pleasant experience. I will say some of the employees out front don’t always seem excited to see you, but I can verify that the animals are well taken care of and well loved. I have volunteered there more than a few times and I can tell you that none of the accusations that are being made here are true. All the dogs online are definitely back there, and all have large play areas and always seem to be having fun playing with each other or volunteers. So since these dogs are not “kept in cages” or miserable as some people seem to like to think, you can understand that Sunny Meadows can be choosy with who they adopt dogs out to. I can verify that just because you have not had a dog before does not mean you will be turned down for an application, however if you have willingly given up a pet, or have had pets and cannot verify vet records than yes, chances are they are going to be less than willing to send a pet home with you. I do not think that has anything to do with customer service, it has to do with making sure that not only are they finding homes for animals, but they are finding the best homes possible for these animals. Every time I have been there it is apparent that the staff has a personal relationship with all of the animals, so of course they are going to be choosey about where they end up, and as animal lovers we should expect no less. They have always worked with us and been pleasant and prompt when we were ready to adopt and found a match. When we found a match in our second dog, and our current dog was undergoing adulticide heartworm treatment, we were even allowed to put her on “hold” so that we could take her home when we were able and it was safe for our other dog to exercise and play. When we took home our newest dog we were told she was heartworm positive and were given medication to give her weekly as a form of slow treatment. Months later, after visiting my vet and being told that he was not comfortable with that form of treatment and he did not recommend it, I did some thorough research of my own and came to the conclusion that I too was not comfortable going through the full year of that therapy when more damage could potentially be being done. I saw that they were under new management and sent an email regarding the issue. I received a phone call back and a sincere apology for the delay, and was told that they no longer used that form of treatment either and they would give me a call back and let me know how they were going to handle it. Not 2 hours later I received a voice mail telling me they had already set up everything for me to take her in for the adulticide treatment, all I had to do was make an appointment with their vet. We also received follow up calls from the new director as well. As it turns out, by some miracle, the slow treatment actually worked for us and our girl ended up being heart worm negative! I even gave the director a call back and told her the good news, and she seemed almost as relieved as I was. I just wanted to put in my two cents as I have had nothing but positive experience with Sunny Meadows, and especially the new director and staff. Everything that they do is for the betterment and protection of their animals, and I would like to think that is something that everyone can recognize and agree on.
I adopted my cat from here 3 years ago.
Love them
Amazing place with the best people!!
Great people who care about pets!
Great organization, great people, great mission!
Ive havent had a pet in a long time and therefore have no pet references. If youve never had a pet before, they tell you to forget it and hit the road.
Great people doing a great job
Very Nice people
Wonderful people helping animals
Good selection of animals, staff is terrible at the adoption process and returning calls.
Not what I expected. I drove a hour to meet with some unpleasant people. I will be purchasing a dog.
Awesome organization!
Great place, Great people
I havent been there yet so, I need to know prices
No response when I called
Great staff.
Love this place!
It saves animals
Dont be open when I want it to be.
Try again
