These folks are just as talented as fancier groomers with higher prices and longer wait times. The staff are super friendly, and my dog loves going. Mikayla and Hayley are particularly great!Worth getting the Top Dog Plus package if youre nervous about trimming nails or hate brushing teeth; we always do.

I enjoy going here to interact with folk pets, when they allow you too. Many times they automatically respond to me. I spent 1 1/2 hours there looking for cat food for a feral cat that adopted me years ago, who decided she no longer enjoyed the food she was receiving. Receiving,crazy but was able to find that what she enjoyed is no longer being made.I had to switch to Purina One and now monitoring if she likes that. Yes its a strange relationship when and animal lets you know what they like even if they dont live in your house.😳😲

Our experiment was wonderful came in and purchased a second parakeet for my child because the first one was lonely and they also have other wonderful animals in there to like cats and reptiles thats if you like them but my experience or all was wonderful and pleasant and the customer service was helpful to the questions I asked about the birds that I purchased
Ordered online & it was ready for pickup quickly. Parked, opened app, clicked shop, & clicked Im here . Guy brought out my order in a reasonable time & put it in the back of my SUV.
It was late and had a really knowledgeable and patient store assistant help my son and me. We were looking at different toys, treats for our little shiba on these rainy days. She confirmed our choices and recommended some treats that went well with the toys. Weve been watching our puppy entertain herself with her new toys all morning, and shes having a ball! Only time will tell if these toys will survive during these teething times. That part Im not too sure about at this point. 😄

Went to Pet Smart for doggie training, private lesson with Sandy. She is a great trainer. Lots of patience, suggested a harness to help us walk our dog and stay in control, thunder shirt to help with anxiety. A true GEM!!!!

I dont recommend this Banfield. I drop off my baby at 830am for a teeth cleaning...Was told she will be third.... Called them 130 to check on her and was told they havent started on her yet, because she will be last and she will be ready at 530. WTH? She went from 3rd to last... My job gets very busy between 4 and 530, no way I could be there 530 to pick her up. Plus all the traffic in that area.I canceled her appt and went to picked her up. When I got there I waited and waited and waited....one was on the phone talking so slow like she had nothing better to do while they other one annoyed me. Worst service ever. They dont deserve one star. ATTENTION BANFIELD Dont and I repeat DONT tell me you are sorry and ask me to contact you, because I know you are not sorry and I wont contact this Banfield for any reason every again.

Nice, large example of a PetSmart chain store.... plenty of inventory, decent prices, lots of customers, and animal rescue organizations coming by from time to time looking for your help with adoptions.Regularly get our dog food, fish food and even a couple fish from either this location or the one at Virginia Center without any hitch. Staff is busy, but friendly.We use independent vets and groomers; never wanted to take our animals to a vet or groomer in a big box store, so cant comment on those services.Nice, affordable place to get the food and accessories we need.
Had what I was looking for so thats a plus. One check-out open and backed up but another opened within 5 minutes.

I visited the Mechanicsville, VA location late this morning. While waiting for checkout I counted five customers entering their store with no masks on. No one in the store said anything to them. I asked the clerk if the Governor’s order for mask requirements had changed. I was told no, the order was still in effect.I asked the clerk if anyone was going to ask the customers to put a mask on, and her response was that she was only one person and couldn’t do it. I quietly asked to talk to the Manager about it. The teller pulled her shirt mike and informed the Manager that there was an “upset” customer waiting in reference to other customers not wearing masks. I was never upset, I simply asked questions that irritated the teller. The Manager never came out to talk to me, though I waited quietly and patiently for them. If you want to be safe, just don’t visit or shop at the Mechanicsville PetSmart. Their customers are not asked to wear masks and you will not be protected while you are in their store. I think a call to the Chickahominy Health Department would definitely be constructive. Maybe they can stop by and make a surprise visit to confirm that the Mechanicsville PetSmart is non-compliant!
I took a sample of tank water in and they tested it said it was all good so I purchased 17 glo neon fish $168.00 within 2 days they were all dead. The lady told me that they had just gotten the shipment in so they were already stressed. I figured that was the problem. Anyway I took my receipt to get the refund and purchase new fish Chris the manager told me he couldnt refund the money without proof the fish died I told him that I didnt bring the fish and he said well without the dead fish he cant help me I said well I have pictures and he said sorry. He basically called me a lier. Said all them fish hadnt died. I came home and took back the fish and got my refund. I had purchased more then 7 hundred dollars in that store in a week. I buy all my dog stuff and cat stuff from that store but after today I will not spend another dollar in that store. Chris needs to be fired you dont treat your customers that way.😡😡 DONT SHOP PETSMART MECHANICSVILLE VA

Decided to go adopt a kitten that I had fell in love with while I was visiting. Was told the kitten was fine, no issues, he was healthy right? Tell me why I get him home .. and he has TAPEWORMS AND AN UPPER RESPITORY INFECTION. I spoke to a lady with MEOW STORIES name Kate I believe and she told me I had to buy him a deworming pill. YALL LET ME ADOPT A CAT WITH NON LISTED HEALTH ISSUES AND TRIED TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THAT !? A $150 VET BILL I JUST HAD TO PAY BECAUSE THEY DID NOT TELL ME THAT CAT WAS NOT HEALTHY. VET SAYS HE WAS MISTREATED . THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Im glad I am a loving person and adore animals it is very sad to get a new kitten and SEE AND HEAR HIM SUFFERING AND STRUGGLING TO CATCH A BREATHE . thank goodness for my vet because now we are about to get him all better . But I will NEVER recommend anybody to adopt with pet smart via Meow Stories. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Never again . Go to the SPCA at least they care about their animals.

I took my fur baby here to be groomed. He has anxiety, so I was worried at drop off but after picking him up, he was happy and the ladies said he did great. I appreciate that they paid attention to my concerns and made him comfy with being groomed. I usually do it myself but cant anymore

The store stinks and the floor guy walked around with a tablet and wasnt helpful at all. The item I wanted was out of stock supposedly at their store. I asked where was the nearest store and if they had the item in stock. You can call and find out. He said flatly. When I called the other store a woman answered. Let me see if someone is available to do a stock check for you. Pass the buck is the order of the day here. One associate more lazy and disengaging than the next. Customer service has officially died.
All the tank is are dirty,the tanks they sell are terrible for the reptiles,especially the ones with drawers,if they knew basic humanity they would try a little harder

This store is always running out of Super Worms for my Bearded Dragons.. I was told by employee that they have corn worms and as she showed me where they were all of them were half dead already. Another employee told me their delivery days each week for them so I went to days after they got a fresh delivery and still were out of stock. They say they only get a few in each week. Absolutely ridiculous that I cannot even find food for my dragons at a pet store. I spoke to the manager on duty at the time and he stated i’ll apologize I don’t know what to do for you. I will never come back I will take my business to fin and feather‘s in Lakeside.
The young lady in the fish department was very helpful and sweet. She helped us with a kitten adoption when the people werent available to meet.
Great place for pet care. This location has a Banfiield Pet Hospital in the back of the store and the staff there are exceptional! They treat your pet like they are your own-very personable! Check out the preventative care packages that they have for your pets. Really worth the price! The staff in the PetSmart store itself are friendly and knowledgeable as well.
We took our new puppy in for his first vet appointment. The store and clinic are very clean and easy to maneuver around. The staff at Banfield and in the store were fabulous!

I can never get female fish here so probably wont be back for a while but its a tidy store so doesnt deserve an overall bad review. maybe its due to covid slowing down shipping so Ill give them another visit in a few months and revise my review if I can get the fish and aquarium plants Ive come to expect from the big box pet stores.
They cut my dog and have bad associates working there .. that don’t have a clue to what they are doing my dog is only 7 months .

I used PetSmart grooming services. I know they have had some bad press, but this PetSmart is great. Lisa was the groomer. She was great with my dog who is shy. My dog is a shepherd mix and just needed a bath and nail trim, but she did great. Would definitely go to this PetSmart grooming salon again.

Came to this location first time in this particular one. The employees were friendly. Everything was in stock, the store seemed organized. The only thing I noticed was when I first walked in there was a strong urine smell, it wasnt so bad that you couldnt walk in but it was noticable more so than other locations Ive been to.
If possible I wanted this location to acknowledge my review of one of your employees while she is at another location!I cant say this for all PetSmart employees however the experience I had when I called the Chester location was phenomenal. I had the pleasure of speaking with an employee named Cindy. The Chester location is not her home store. She advised me that she is just filling in there for this week and that her home store is currently the Mechanicsville location. Cindy went above and beyond to help me with the questions that I had. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable and friendly she did not get annoyed with all of the questions I was asking. She gave me amazing advice on the Veterinary Clinic attached to PetSmart. I personally hope that Cindy is in a manager position due to the fact that she has manager qualities that she exemplified when speaking with me. I personally have been in sales customer service for a very long time and Cindy was out of this world when speaking with me. If anybody is looking to speak with somebody who is knowledgeable personable kind and passionate about animals Im sorry our little family members head to the Mechanicsville location and ask for Cindy you will not be disappointed. Thank you again cindy for all the information and advise!Thanks again Cindy you rock, I wish other stores outside of PetSmart and within had more employees like you! You really give phenomenal customer service!
I love PetSmart mainly because of their selection. Its a big box pet store. They have just about every brand, and every kind of pet thing that you could ever want. The story is laid out very nicely, and its very easy to find things there. It has been my experience, that the staff seems to be very helpful. I dont think I ever went in there to buy something, and they didnt have it. Thats the reason why I go back.
This PetSmart is usually very clean, and depending on the day, you have either Luke warm associates, or very friendly ones. Last time we were there we had a very lovely person let us hold and pet the baby bearded dragons even though we made it clear we were thinking on getting one in the future, not that night. They were very nice to small talk with, and answered all of our questions with a smile. I hope this associate is there next time we pop in.
Katie Davenport at the Mechanicsville location was OUTSTANDING. She was patient and took her time helping me pick out my new pet and all the food, accessories... She helped to explain how to care for it and recommended things that she had used for her own. Katie was so kind and a breath of fresh air. Usually customer service isn’t great when you go anywhere to shop but every staff member at this location was exceptional. Katie even helped me take everything out to my car, IN THE RAIN, to help me load it all up after hearing I had recently had surgery and shouldn’t be lifting heavy things. I just can’t speak more highly of her! Thank you for everything Katie if you see this! I hope your manager sees this too and you get the recognition you deserve!!
Always helpful. Friendly staff. I have 2 rescue kitties and a feral cat colony I care for and often place large online orders for in store pickup. Seldom a problem. Also they are so good about setting product aside for me when I call ahead (when Im using an store only coupon). I appreciate this as previously, some items sold out before I could get to the store. My feral colony goes through a lot of food each week and the ability to purchase large amounts of food with a coupon helps.

I would give them negative stars if i could! DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THEIR GROOMING SALON! if you want your dog to be forgotten about and left in a cage for hours and be told that your dog would be ready for pick up at a certain time and have to call to see what is going on because you had not received a call in hours and when calling to see what is going you get told someone else came and pick up your dog and he was no longer there!My dog was dropped off at 1130 am for noon appt to get A BATH -yes JUST a BATH. he is a 12 pound poodle mix. Was told he would be ready at 130pm knowing they needed a few hours waited to call - finally called at 3pm to see what was going on. upon calling whomever answered the phone stated that Max had already been picked up. when asked who picked him up they simply stated some man had come and picked up MY dog, I asked that they re-check and was reassured he was not there. Yes you can just imagine my thoughts/feelings at this moment. Apparently a handful of their employees did not have their s*&^ together and after checking my dog in-immediately checked my dog out as if he was gone. I asked when they actually bathed him and they stated he did not get his bath until 230pm. My dog sat in a cage or who knows where probably without any attention or care for 3 hours!!!! 3 hours!! before they even noticed he was there!
