So disappointed in the pool.... Only ladders to get in and out of pool!!! Come on, why werent there steps put in like the old Y? Would like to be able to go back to Water Aerobics but cant because having weak knees and cannot do the ladders... Pretty poor designing of the pool.
The new facility is top notch. Walking track, 1/16(?) of a mile weight area, swimming pool. Classrooms a spin bike class set up. Love also that unlike most other workout facilities, there is a shower area. Perfect to grab a workout in the way to the daily grind.
Inviting atmosphere, professional and friendly staff, updated equipment. All this makes going to the Marion YMCA very enjoyable.
Fantastic place for the family workout. Good quality equipment, friendly staff, easy on the pocket, good coaches for swimming, basketball etc, group fitness and many more. Highly recommend.
Very modern, plenty of room to accommodate all activities, will visit as often as possible !!!
Awesome facility......something for everyone.....runners, swimmers, weight lifting, basketball courts, enough equipment to work out with for all ages.
Great new facility. Lots to do and friendly staff.
My normal Y is the one in downtown CR so Ill be comparing the two. This was a 20min drive as opposed to a 5min drive but not the reason for the 3 starsPros:Brand new equipment, and facility, and looks really nice. 2 pools, one for lap swimming and one shallow for kids and other activities. The cardio equipment is brand new and looks very nice and I would love to see the downtown one get some new equipment, didnt see any stair machines there but I wasnt there for cardio so I might have just missed them. The crossfit equipment is open for anyone to use, unlike the downtown one where its locked and the only way to use it is for you to be with a trainer. The squart racks, for me, were the highlight because of the adjustable safety bar on them. Also the parking is 10x better than the parking at the downtown Y.Cons:Missing a lot of amenities that the downtown Y has.1. No lockers by weight equipment. Not so much in the summer time but in the winter time its a hassle. The only lockers that they have are the ones by the basketball courts and swimming pool. Normally this wouldnt be a huge issue but since I can normally store my things in a locker that is within eye shot the majority of the time Im there I dont carry a lock on me. So just so I could keep an eye on my things I put them in a pile on the floor.2. No cable station. The Y downtown has a cable station that you can do rows, lat pulldown, triceps, and a lot other exercises that the new Y doesnt have. As stated before they have the for crossfit equipment that is similar, but if youve never used it before it can be intimidating to use. They do have a small cable station but its made for 2 people to use but is no where near the amount of exercises to the original.3. No assisted dip or pull station. I use this as a warm up whenever I am doing pull ups or dips. Just another piece of equipment that is missing.4. No mirrors in front of the squat racks. All the mirrors are in front of the dumbbells.5. No place to do core workouts. They do have machines that focus on core but I like to do floor workouts for core, like planks. They have mats available to do floor workouts but I felt that no matter where I would do my workouts, I felt I was in the way of some equipment or machines.6. Masks. Before I start, I am NOT opposed to wearing a mask. I wear a mask in before my workout and I wear one when I finished and Im ready to leave without any fuss or complaint. But if you forget your mask in the locker room and you need to use the bathroom, the staff are not afraid to jump down your throat about you not wearing a mask. This is something new to me since this isnt an issue with the Y downtown, I use the bathroom, wash my hands, and get back to my workout without any issue. This rule wouldnt be so bad if they had lockers up by the equipment so its more easily accessable in case you forget.Recommend:I would say if this Y is not your normal Y or is not the closet one, I would not go. The extra travel is not worth it for the few good things about it.
The new facility is huge, brand new equipment with a wide range of machines and equipment. Only wish is that they put in a deadlift/olympic lifting platform with bumper plates to spare the floor and the regular plates.
My social center. It is a place to enjoy
I love the new facility with all new equipment!!
Brand new facility. ! Stop in and see it. Opens Monday the 18th !
First Class facility.
Love the Marion YMCA. The people are so friendly. Come and join us
Awesome new facility!
The staffs are awesome. The building is old but well maintained. Indoor basketball courts, swimming pool, fitness center and child care too.
The new Marion Y is AMAZING!!!
Brand new and beautiful
I love coming here... Always friendly staff and things for the whole family and individuals... The facility is older... A bad thing is the early morning pool swimmers refuse to share lanes but the rest of the day I enjoy swimming... Todd and Diane are excellent aquatic instructors...highly highly recommend
This place is great, last time I was here (which was a long time ago) it was great. there is a great daycare, and the building is really good maintenanced.
Rock on bröthers
I would never recommend this place to anyone. I went there with my sister and I put my son in daycare. When I waked in one of the daycare providers right away stated that they dont change diapers, feed them. Ok great, like I want you to do any of that for my child. He said rudely as well. When I walked Into the room I didnt see any toys on the floor and there was a kid about 5 years old who kept running out of the room and back into the room. He was the only child before I dropped my son off and there were TWO workers. I was gone for 45 minutes before I heard my son screaming in pain. I ran into the room and asked what happened. The girl who was holding my son said he was trying to stand up and fell on his face. My son cant stand up on his, and when I looked around there werent any toys on the floor for him to play with. The room was spot clean. I made a report of what happened and when I spoke to the director she told me that the daycare provider stated that my son was crawling for a toy and slipped on his face. Why would I get two different contradicting stories? I want to know what my son was doing for 45 minutes without any toys on the floor. The director also said that when a kid puts a toy into his mouth they take it and put it into a bin for it to be disinfected. So she basically said that every time my son put a toy in his mouth the provider took it from his hand and put it into a bin to be disinfected. Ive never had an issue with the downtown Y and every time I go there they always have toys on the floor and they are always on the floor playing with the kids.Seriously though I still want to know what my son was doing for 45 minutes without any toys on the floor for him to play with??????
Very nice
Ok
First of all they have no signage outside the building to indicate that this was the Y. This is one of the scariest places I have ever been. The whole building is very dark, and the ladies locker room is NOT SECURED. I immediately felt very uncomfortable and unsafe after walking into the ladies locker room... It is just a large, open area with a door propped open and anyone could just walk in. The area was dirty, there were several community hairbrushes on the counter filled with hair, a showerhead being held on by pink duct tape, and empty crumpled plastic grocery bags all over the place. There were no paper towels at the sinks so they provided Kleenex to dry your hands with instead.. Against my better judgement I went to the weight room and found run down and broken and STICKY equipment, broken mirrors patched with electrical tape and no place to stretch or warm up. Some woman was doing yoga in a tiny dark corner while a teenaged employee stood and watched her. The only other person there was an old and sweaty man who did not wipe down a single piece of equipment that he used. At that point I had had enough and left after only a few minutes. I would not suggest anyone actually go here unless you want to risk to be assaulted or worse, raped, in a dark locker room where probably nobody would hear/care if you screamed. Rather workout in a dark alley downtown at midnight. Its probably safer.
I got buff
The locker room is awful, outdated. There is no sauna.
It is the best place to visit 4 my kids
Cancelled our membership long ago when a very rude lifeguard yelled at my son!
Its usually pretty quiet compared to the other branches and i dont like to have an audience while i workout
Small facilities and pool isnt the greatest.
