I took my wedding dress to have it taken in at the straps and hemmed. Both were done perfectly. I also had a French bustle made, bad idea. Definitely recommend This business if you are just doing alterations like hemming or taking things in. If your wedding dress calls for a french bustle and you want it to look perfect, then find a more specialized business. You could see the threads through the dress, I was so heartbroken, even after removing the added threads, my dress still shows where the sewing happened. It’s so sad especially since the dress is so beautiful and now I feel it’s partially damaged.

I have used Gils for years and have always been very happy with their work. Most recently they expedited a last minute dress alteration for me that I needed before a trip with only a couple of days notice, I highly recommend them.

I bought my bridesmaids dress brand new from an online boutique and brought it to Gills to be hemmed. When I picked it up, the hem was great but there were several stains on the bottom half of the dress. When I pointed them out, she did not seem to have any idea what it was or how it happened, she even pulled the original material that was cut off the dress to compare and make sure there were not any stains on the dress previously. I stated that the dress was brand new, was not stained before. She said she would clean it and I could pick up the following week.When I went back to pick it up, I’d say at least 80% of the stains were out - enough for it not to be very noticeable. She repeatedly claimed that the dress was dirty prior to me bringing it in. She said I must have bought the dress used or someone tried it on, wore it and it got dirty. She actually laughed and said there was absolutely no way it could have gotten dirty at Gills.I paid $45, full price for the hem. I did not pay anything extra for the cleaning. I honestly do not have a problem paying full price for the hem and I understand that things happen but the fact that she was not the least bit apologetic, was adamant I brought the dress in dirty and laughed when I said otherwise was extremely rude.I will definitely not come back here.

Omg, I love this place. I used then last year to alter my nieces top to her prom dress. I needed it done quickly, actually within a few hours. My niece lives out of state, but was here dress shopping. So I wanted it done before she left. They got the job done in two hours and it was perfect!!! Fast forward to now. They canceled my nieces prom last year but we still had the dress. But now its too tight. I go back to them to alter the top again and let the bottom out some as well. She remembered the dress from last year. I was shocked!! Its another rush job because my niece has to leave soon. She fitted her, added a few things and the dress should be done in a few days. The price is always reasonable and I cant wait to see the outcome. They are so very professional and kind. Absolutely wonderful customer service!!UPDATE: We went back to get the dress 4 days later, and it was PERFECT!! She had to let the top out and add straps, and let the skirt out two inches. And it fit to a T!!! Ill never take my alterations to anyone else but them! Sandy is such a joy to be around. She always greats us and has great conversation. I love her ❤️. I just picked up my bridesmaid dress and EVERYTHING fit PERFECTLY. I a lot done to it - had it shortened, tightened, made the slit higher and she even fixed one of the straps that seems to have had a fold in it. Not only that, but when I picked it up, she gave me a COVID safe (REALLY cute) mask that she handmade. It was such a nice experience and I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. Had a dress altered- service was great and they are very kind but I feel that I was way overcharged. Had an inch taken off a bridesmaid dress and then had it cleaned after. The bill was $72 (36 for alteration and 36 for cleaning)... I didn’t Dispute it but I’m really confused if this is normal pricing for a simple dress. Won’t be coming back.

I had a terrible experiece in September with wedding dress alterations. I chose Gils because of all the stellar reviews, and I dont get clothes altered much. During my consultation, I wanted to address (1) an issue with the bones in the dress poking me in the stomach, (2) take it in a bit, and (3) a hem. When I came to pick up my dress as directed three weeks later, the bones had not been addressed. She said she forgot. She asked me to wait, and she removed the bones. As it was a strapless dress, this caused the dress to sag significantly which was something I was concerned about at the first consultation when the suggested fix was to remove the bones. She said she would fix that day, so I came back that evening, and it still wasnt right. She said to wait so she could fix but I wasnt able to, so I went back the next day. I wasnt overwhelmed with satisfaction, but I was a little frustrated so I called it good took it home. She insisted on taking several photos, requesting I remove my face mask for the photos, which made me uncomfortable as I really wasnt super satisfied. Tried it on the next night at home, and realized that the changes messed up the length because I was stepping all over the dress, it was extremely saggy in the front - no amount of body tape was going to fix it, and it was bunching up all in my waist. I dont remember how many times I had to go back, but I visited at least four more times over a few days as it was the week before my wedding. Each time, she made sevearl fixes on the spot and I spent about an hour or so there waiting. At the end of the day, the bodice was as smooth as it was going to get and I wasnt stepping on it anymore. I gave up. Ive attached pictures of the bunched up bodice during my wedding ceremony. While I appreciate her attempts to change things as much as possible, I was quite dissappointed with my entire experience, and the end result. I felt I should share, as I based my decision to use this business based on reviews.

I needed a bridesmaids dress altered to be appropriate for a traditional, conservative Catholic wedding, and she met all my requests for this. I bought a facemask from her as well - my boyfriend thought it was really neat and wanted one for himself so I took him there to get another one. Overall, had a great experience - I will be back and I will tell my friends!

I took my wedding dress there. It needed to be shorten and I was very nervous about whether they can do a good job on it or not. Actually, they did a perfect job. They shorten the dress like original. They also altered some tight parts and some loose parts. Overall they did a great job. Im totally satisfied and I will definitely go there again for my future alterations and also suggest it to everyone.Also, very nice and friendly staff.

I took my wedding dress to Gills to be hemmed, taken in and have a bustle added. The fabric is very delicate lace and chiffon with no backing in parts. They did an excellent job, and youd never be able to tell it was altered! The dress fit like a glove. As I was trying the dress on, we realized that the bustle was forgotten and the pin used to mark it was still in the dress. The ladies at the shop jumped in to action and within 15 minutes I was walking out the door with dress in hand, bustle and all.

Gill’s Alterations provides quality tailoring fast! I had express ordered a leather skirt, for my vacation. It came in late Saturday and I was leaving on Monday. Unfortunately it was way too big, I initially panicked before finding Gill’s on yelp. Deciding to give it a shot, I came in Sunday at 1:00 pm with the skirt in tow. Sandy, the seamstress pinned my skirt, took my measurements, and promised to have it ready by 5:00 pm. Sure enough, at 5:00, when I came to pick it up, my skirt was ready and beautifully altered. She had not only taken in the skirt at the waist but had taken the skirt in all the way through the sides. By doing this she maintained the integrity and design of the skirt so that it would not only fit me, but fit me well.I am literally sitting, in my car, holding my skirt, and writing this review. That is how satisfied and happy I am. To everyone reading this Gill’s alterations is the best tailor, in Cobb County. You will be impressed by their speed and craftsmanship- please, for the sake of your closet go to Gill’s and ask for Sandy!Thank You Sandy, you are my vacation hero!

Wonderful experience! I was going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding and the wedding was fast approaching, but my dress was a couple of inches too small. The ladies here at Gills did wonders! They made the dress fit much more comfortably and removed all of the paneling that was giving me issues. I really cant thank them enough! These ladies are very talented and their work is top notch. 5 stars!

Needed a dress and husbands new suit altered for a wedding. Took it in on Sunday and was ready for pickup Thursday. When putting the dress on for the wedding Saturday I felt it needed more alternations on the back of the dress. I was able to wear it to the event with no prob but did take it back the next week to have them alter it a bit more. They were extremely nice about it and had it ready within the hour at no extra charge. I felt the prices were average for any alternations business. I would recommend and will be back in the future.

I went to Gill’s to have a long evening gown that I had purchased for my son’s wedding shortened, with other stylistic changes that I wanted made. The alterations shop in Canton that I had always used said they were too busy to make the modifications I wanted, that they really couldn’t be done, and that I should come back in a month before the wedding! I was not comfortable with this and looked elsewhere. Gill’s was not at all fazed by my requests and everything was done exactly as I had requested. Very professional!

They did a fabulous job altering a prom dress that we were told couldnt be done by another shop. Absolutely made the wearer feel and look like a princess. Lovely, patient staff that really knows what theyre doing. Will work on any type of garment. They love what they do and it shows in attitude and workmanship.

When I purchased my dress it was too big up top and the general cut was an A line. The experts at Gils knew immediately where I wanted places cinched in and even altered the actual cut of the dress from A-line to a trumpet cut which was the modification I wanted. I really could not be happier with the results when I got my dress back a few weeks later. In addition to being awesome at what they do, theyre also super friendly and warm. I needed a bridesmaid dress let out in the bust and wanted a longer slit and she took one look at it and knew exactly what to do! She had the dress done in a week, and it was a perfect fit. The price was half of what it would’ve cost at another alterations shop I’d gone to, and she was so sweet. I highly recommend getting any formal dresses altered here for a fair price!!

I gave them a pair of black slacks to be hemmed and skinny-ed up, for lack of a better word. The pants I had were labeled as Regular fit, but were way too baggy, so I took it to Gills Alterations and was measured, pinned, and hemmed correctly. After it was done, the pants fit amazingly. Slim fit like I like, as well as being hemmed perfectly. They both know exactly what they are doing, and do a very good job at it. Super happy with my altered slacks. 5*****

Gills is awesome-accommodating on a time constraint too. I took a winter coat in to get the zipper repaired. Gill took a zipper from one of her own coats (because it was from the same designer) and put it on my coat. Forever grateful! I get pants tailored regularly and button fixes etc.

Everyone at Gill’s was so helpful and nice! They did an amazing job on my wedding dress! It was a very intricate and complicated, but they managed to get it done in a very short amount of time.

Sandy did incredible work. I lost enough weight that the dress had to be taken in even further, and she added straps for me so that I wouldn’t have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction on my wedding day. I’m going to strongly recommend her to any future brides.

As far as kindness, professionalism, and customer service goes, Gills is exceptional! I am getting married and now have a dress that fits me perfectly! I have been going to Gills for years and Sandy does beautiful work! She has altered garments for me and several of my friends that other seamstresses would not do. Her work is always excellent and she wants her customers to be satisfied. Her prices are also very fair. I have had all kinds of apparel altered and she always does an excellent job. I brought in a bridesmaid dress that had to be taken in. Not every alteration place can do what Gills did because of the wiring and bones in the bodice of the dress. She did a fantastic job and I got it faster than I had anticipated. I will most definitely come back here!

These people are amazing at what they do. My wedding dress had a gathered skirt that flowed outward in the back, but it was far too long. When I got it back, it was the perfect length and the skirt still had the amazing flowy look to it. It looked like it came like that from the shop! It is stunning and Im so excited to wear it on my wedding day!

This place does a great job and Ive used them for a couple of years but I just took 2 uniform skirts in to be altered and they wanted to charge me $72! I complained about the price so they lowered it to $60 and said the reason is that the skirts have liners so they had to do extra hemming. I asked my co-workers what they paid for their uniform pieces and no one paid that much and most of them were shocked it cost me that much . Its a shame because Ive always liked them but I refuse to pay outrageous prices like that .

They do great work at a reasonable price. Brought in 7 items that needed repairs (seam splits and buttons missing), and the repairs were done very well. They are approx. 30 minutes drive from me, but well worth it - places closer to me dont do a very good job on repairs, and Gills was great - worth the drive!

Open Sundays! What a life saver! Brought in a dress with a busted seam (that I had rented for a wedding and had to return Monday) and Sandy stitched it up while I was there so I didnt have to make another trip to pick up! Highly recommend!!!

Gills alteration did an amazing job altering my wedding dress. They told me to wait for 2 weeks. However, it was actually done like 3 days earlier than the promised date and they called me that it was done early :) Not only that it was fast, they perfectly altered my dress! They all were very sweet. Also, the price was non-beatable compared to Davids Bridal and other alteration places around Kennesaw. I was so so satisfied! When I need to get my bridesmaids dresses altered, I will for sure come back to Gills Alteration :)

A few weeks ago, I stopped into Gills Alterations to have my two new suits altered. Unsure what was needed, they had me try on the suits, checked a few measurements, and only suggested hemming both pairs of pants. I inquired about the suit jackets, and they thought it was fine.They were very affordable, pushed for nothing extra, and were extremely quick. I trust this place with my tailoring needs.

Brought in 4 pair of pants to be hemed, only 3 were done properly

I took an item to several alteration shops only to be told that the alteration that I was requesting was too complicated and time consuming. The last shop called me after I had already left the item with them and told me they could not do the work. They recommended GILLS ALTERATIONS and they did a PHENOMINAL JOB and the price was VERY REASONABLE. I was so impressed with their work because my mother was a seamtress and passed away recently. I know good work and this is EXCELLENT WORK.I will recommend them to everyone and I will definitely be a return customer.The item was for my daughter and she is ECSTATIC.

I went to Gills because they had good reviews. I was very dissatisfied with the service I got for a simple hem on a cocktail dress. First, I made an appointment specifically to have the seamstress pin my dress, but she was not there and her husband assured me that he could pin my dress correctly. I arrived to pick up my dress several days later after the time it was promised, and the dress was not hemmed. While I waited, the seamstress hemmed my dress. Of course, it was not pinned correctly, so the dress was too long. I again returned after the dress was promissed the second time, and the dress had a visibly crooked hem. The seamstress took out the hem and re-did the work with a different hem which hid some of the stitching, but the hem looked lumpy. She tried to blame it on the the stretchy fabric. I would think that if she could not properly hem a dress, then she would say so up front. I am hoping that maybe having the dress dry cleaned will help with the lumpiness. I was still charged the full $40 for the unsatisfactory hem job.

This place saved my life.. I was in my friends wedding and my pants needed to be altered and drycleaned before the weekend. I came in and Sandy took care of me and within a day my pants and shirt were altered and dry cleaned at a reasonable price, it was well worth it!

I am very happy with the work Sandy did on the Starfleet uniforms my husband and I brought in. We had ordered Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine uniforms online; they came from China, and were huge! We brought them to Gills, modeled them for Sandy, and she knew exactly what was needed. She said they would be ready in a week, and they were! They look amazing!! Now we are all ready for DragonCon!!
