MC and Chas are the best kind of people you could hope to meet! Smart, driven, and fun! What more could you want out of a coach?? This is the definition of a power couple!
I joined SOMA MVMT during the pandemic when I was looking for fitness classes that met outside. I thought Id return to my old kickboxing workouts when the gyms reopened, but after a year of working out with the SOMA MVMT team, I am totally hooked! The coaches are great and the workouts are challenging. I love that every day is different and there is a focus on balancing strength and cardio. You also get access to the app, which gives you a daily workout if you cant make it to the studio. Highly recommend!

I love SOMAMVMT! Chas and MC are great! I was hesitant before I joined because I always had back pains from being at a desk during the day and was worried that the classes will worsen my pain. To my surprise, few weeks in I noticed that SOMAMVMT classes are actually helping alleviating my back pain and my focus and energy have increased.
I joined Soma Mvmt after moving to Maplewood during the pandemic. Not only have Chas and MC gotten my pandemic weary body back into fighting shape, I found a community of like minded people that have become friends. Ive never been this fit or felt this good about my body, and I fully credit Chas and MC for getting me in the best shape of my life.
I joined this gym in October of 2018 and Ive loved being a part of this community. Great coaching with really practical feedback as well as very intentional programming are the reasons I keep coming back. Ive met some great people here and coming to class is always so much fun! I would definitely recommend this gym for any person who is looking for a supportive community that will push you to be a healthier person!
I joined this gym October of 2018, after growing quite bored of the traditional typical global gym. I had lost all motivation, and would constantly just use the same machines. After my first class at CrossFit Maplewood, I was hooked. I’ve been a consistent member ever since. I often feel challenged, always break a sweat, and I always walk out feeling better than I did before I walked in. What keeps me coming back is the way I feel, mentally, physically and emotionally - also the community. Highly suggest checking it out!

This is a fantastic CrossFit gym! Chas and Kris are excellent trainers especially if you need to modify workouts for whatever reason. It is a very motivating and fun environment to get fit!

Chas and Kris are amazing coaches and even better guys. When choosing a CrossFit box you want instructors that teach mechanics, consistency, and intensity, in that order - and thats exactly what they subscribe to here. After three years at CrossFit Maplewood, sweating next to the welcoming faces old and new, both members and trainers, I cant help but feel an overwhelming sense of camaraderie and community. The personalized coaching is the best thing here: from the most basic moves to the technically advanced moves, everyone can find what they are looking for. There is also a great community feel here, with a group of diverse people that are simply fun to exercise and enjoy life with.

This place is simply brilliant!Was super dissapointed when I moved from Dallas, TX to SO, NJ not to find a CrossFit that was of the caliber of my old box. I tried a few places and they just didnt seem right for one reason or another. CrossFit is not just about the facilities, its about the people...the support... the vibe.. the community. Then by chance I came across a name and phone number and I havent looked back since....From day one when I spoke to Matt, heard about his CrossFit experiences and plans for CrossFit Maplewood I knew I had found it! Matt and his family have brought to Maplewood a CrossFit that simply gets it.Whether you are experienced or a complete newbie to CrossFit, Matt provides an unbelievable level of coaching attention, encouragement, patience and humor! Working with Matt and with the support of others at the box, I continue to get technically better, stronger, fitter and enthusiastic about my work outs....I no longer dread that morning alarm, I look forward to it!Through CrossFit Maplewood we have not only met some great people but made some great friends.I highly encourage dropping in on the Saturday intro class and giving it a try.. but be warned.. its addictive!

The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and really help you feel comfortable in a new environment and the members are supportive and fun. From your first day at Crossfit Maplewood, you can tell that people love to be there.The workouts are also some of the best you’ll ever have. You’ll see results and conquer challenges that may have seemed impossible. With the awesome people, great coaching, and killer workouts, fitness is a given. It’s also a perfect environment to build confidence and challenge yourself. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I joined Maplewood Crossfit in mid June of 2017 and the experience has been amazing. I was welcomed and encouraged immediately by the entire group, despite my feelings of complete inadequacy in my level of fitness and knowledge of almost every exercise (I’ve almost never used weights or “lifted” in my entire life). I was also enabled to go at my own pace to properly learn the movements (still learning) as well as not over extend myself leading to an injury and extinguishing any chance of staying on track.After my first 5 weeks I was down 10lbs and 3% body fat. Then my work travel had begun to pickup again and this time I was finding it easier to mimic the cleaner and leaner meals as well as working out daily. After my 2 month program had expired I continued (and still do to this day) to attend CrossFit classes to 3-4 days a week as well as ordering lunch and dinner 5 days a week (I shortly thereafter switched to medium as it was more than enough). After that, I stopped weighing myself as it became less of a focus. I began feeling healthier, stronger and most importantly, fitting into my clothes again. Its been 4 months now since I began my CrossFit and KettleBell program. I ran my first 5k in over a year and was only 90 seconds off my previous years time. I’m seeing continued improvement in my strength and form in my workouts (unassisted pull ups, heavier lifting, faster WOD times and I’m so close in T2B I can taste it). I’m back to fitting in most of my old clothes. The bloating, stomachaches, chest pains and feeling winded after running for 30 feet are gone. I’m down 40lbs (180bs). That’s still heavier than where I was a year ago however I feel the strongest I’ve felt in a long time and know as I continue with my approach I can reach my goal.
Ive been a member here for over a year and couldnt be happier to train at Crossfit Maplewood. Its a smaller Crossfit box with an extremely committed group of inspiring athletes and an excellent coach in Chas. The 6AM is the most crowded class, but you wont feel ignored or left behind if youre new no matter when you come. I get a chance to travel to other boxes in the country pretty often, and Id stack CFM right alongside them. Its a great place to work out!
