Thorough Diagnosis & Detailed RepairThis is my first repair at Motorplex, Maple Valley. My truck had a radiator leak and I could smell coolant occasionally. Wamon put me on the schedule for Wednesday 4/5. Dan, my technician, quickly found a serious engine coolant leak beyond what I originally thought was the issue. Wamon emailed an estimate within a few hours. Well the engine was at risk with a water pump leak. The timing belt, water pump and associated components were replaced in addition to radiator/hoses/thermostat. The repairs cost more than originally planned but the value of keeping this truck for additional years far outweighs the investment. The repairs & road test took an additional day to accomplish. Wamon, the Service Manager set me up with a Loaner Car so the repairs were seamless to my work schedule. They emailed me a service report complete with maintenance items that will need attention in the future. .... You will not find better service & technicians elsewhere.Vehicle: Honda Pilot Service Date: 04/07/2017Review Created: 04/08/2017 08:54 AM
This is for the Maple Valley Motorplex. Over the course of three days, the person I spoke with consistently told me he would call me with updates about my vehicle, and never once called me. Several of these times he said he would call within 10 or 15 minutes, and still never called (I waited hours). Every time I called for an update, he made an excuse and said he was looking at the paperwork for my vehicle at the moment, said he would call once he got everything organized, then never called. On the final day around 11:00, I asked if the car would be done by 3:00, and he said they were just finishing up and that it would definitely be done. When I showed up at 3:30, it wasnt done. The guy at the register went into the break room, and a mechanic came out, went to my car and opened the hood. I then waited for 45 minutes while the mechanic finished working on the car. Then the guy at the register handed me the invoice, and it was $200 more than Id agreed to pay. He went to the guy Id been talking with over the phone, and that guy said that theyd added parts to their cart from more than one vendor, so thats why they accidentally almost overcharged me. The key drop is convenient, but the person I spoke with was horrible at communicating and very obviously tried to overcharge me.
I have taken my Subaru in for routine service about 5 times. The service has always been as planned and courteous. No surprises. Front desk always available to go over what was done and may be needed to be done in the future. Short walk to stores, food, etc., while they work. Will be back in about 5,000 miles
Have a 1994 Grand Cherokee and had been having trouble with intermittent electrical problems with windows not opening or only opening when driver used his buttons. Finally they would not open at all and with warmer weather coming finally decided to get it fixed. Jim at the MV location went all out and even though he could not get the original harness needed he found the pins to attach all new wiring. It did take a while but we appreciated him doing the job right and finding parts for such an old vehicle. Hoping to get a few more years out of it. Thanks Jim and technicians for a great job.
Great and professional experience. Very knowledgeable about my German car. Laid out the various options for each issue without any pressure and discussed what the impact of waiting on some would be. Very considerate of costs and worked with me to spend only what was needed.
I dropped off my motorhome, leaving it parked outside of their gate only to have it sit there for three days, then parked inside their lot for three weeks before even looking at it. It had a small oil leak. After finally looking at it they told me they could replace the oil cooler but would have to call in another company to fabricate new lines, only to have the other company flake out on them. Then they told me they could do it themselves but it would cost $2000.00. Now theyve had it six weeks. I called AAA and had them tow it to a REAL mechanic because they had also killed the batteries. The REAL mechanic had it fixed in a couple of hours and only charged me $200.00. Motorplex charged me over $1000.00 for doing nothing but cause more issues with my coach and $800.00 of that was toward labor for doing nothing. Worst shop ever. I will never go back not recommend them to anyone. BEWARE!
Rather spendy. A job I was anticipating to cost about 400 ended up running me 730. I wasnt called regarding the price which would have been appreciated. I had inquired prior to bringing my car if the job could be done before a certain time...it was not. I had told the employee prior what the problem was and I was charged a 145 dollar diagnostic fee! My estimate for further work was exceptionally high. Ive had good luck with these folks before..which is why I gave them 3 stars, but beware-if you dont know anything about cars-youll get fleeced.
Motorplex is the epitome of customer service - an all too lost art in this day and age. I had an unexpected road trip I needed to go on and didnt have time to make an appointment to have my car serviced and road checked. When I showed up, unannounced, Jim made me feel welcome: smile, warm greeting and immediately made sure I knew I was not a burden. Even though he didnt have any available time to service my car, he offered to keep my car and work it into their schedule. Even offered to have their shuttle drive me home and pick me back up when the car was done.My pre-paid service plan at XXXXXXXX Toyota is coming to an end and I am more than excited to be able to shop local and support a local business. Thank you, Jim!
I needed an engine replaced. Its a huge cost and I wanted someone I could trust to not take advantage of me. The guys at Motorplex were honest, friendly, informative and have made me a customer glad to refer others to their shop. They also did the same work the dealer would have done for thousands of dollars less. Im a happy camper and my dog Jack is thrilled to have his truck back.
Jim was amazing and an absolute pleasure to work with in a notoriously stressful situation. My transmission needed to be replaced and my warranty company was giving us the run-around on coverage and dragging their feet with payment. He went to bat for me and got me a better deal than I even thought possible. Since my warranty company slowed everything down, Jim called me as soon as a loaner vehicle was available because he knew they had my family car. I called and emailed CONSTANTLY....I was stressed, ok. He was never upset and very patient with me. We chose Motorplex because my husband remembered his parents always using them and Im glad we did. So, now were second generation clients. I wouldnt recommend anyone else.
Our Ford Freestyle needed the AC unit repaired. AC is very costly and the guy at Motorplex was empathetic to my budgeting needs. We negotiated a deal to get just the basics needed without flushing out the system because I didnt want to pay for that service. The Motorplex team went ahead an flushed it anyway, but didnt charge me for the extra service. They completed the job when they said they would and communicated with me every step of the way, so there were no surprises. They are very professional and they truly care about their customers. I highly recommend this auto repair shop.
I do a lot of business with the Auburn location. They are very professional, they have fast accurate and very competitive rates. They are very knowledgeable and will work with your schedule. I will recommend them to anyone looking to get service done on big trucks.
Heard about Motorplex on the recommendation of a friend. Great, fast service. Wamon took the time to explain my options and what was wrong, and worked with me to get it down to the most affordable option possible. Glad we checked this shop out - its where well be taking our cars from now on.
Best service around at a fair price. Thanks for getting my truck back on the road!
Ive been absolutely swindled by car maintenance shops before. But within just a few minutes of meeting Keith I trusted Motorplex and knew that wouldnt happen here. My experience with their customer service and their work on my vehicle was overwhelmingly positive. I will absolutely recommend this business to friends and family based on my time with them.
I had my truck towed into motorplex on thursday February 4th because I had a very bad coolant leak. Originally Jim and I were planning on doing the entire cooling system (water pump, radiator, cooling fan and clutch, hoses, and thermostat). I didnt hear from Jim that day or Friday but I was on vacation from work so I had plenty of time. Monday rolls around and I call Jim and he tells me that the leak was actually coming from the timing cover so instead of doing the cooling system we agreed on doing the timing cover and John the technician would look at the timing chain. Fast forward to Friday I call Jim and he lets me know that the timing chain was done and the timing cover got a new gasket and the water pump was replaced plus the oil change. Altogether 1700 for the tow, water pump, timing cover gasket and chain, thermostat, and the oil change. In the end Im glad I took it to motorplex, Jim there is really great as well as the technicians that are there. Motorplex is my go to place for all my engine work, I wouldnt have it any other way.Keep up the great work.
Jim does an amazing job representing the shop and team, also very considerate with the final pricing.
Very helpful and friendly, helped me find everything I needed and got me in and out in a timely manner.
I wish i had the same experience has others. I brought my car in there they told me several times over the phone i would get a free diagnostics for 2 hours then after that they would continue to look at the car up to the price of 250 dollars, but would call me if they needed to charge me. I get a call from them saying that i was out of oil, coolant, and just checked that the spark plugs where there but never checked them. I was charged 256 dollars, i get my car back with the battery cables cut off. Never told me what was wrong with my car.
I have taken numerous vehicles to Motorplex and they have always showed great diligence in what maintenance is required for each of the vehicles. The staff has always been a pleasure to work with.
Had a great experience with your Maple Valley location working with Rene Raham. You guys were a great help & I am back on the road.
They were super friendly and accommodating with my changing schedule.
UPDATE: I sent a 2nd email to the president of the company and received a very professional and respectful response, along with a refund. Still unhappy with the original service, but they did make it right in the end.Preface: I emailed the President of Motorplex on August 17 and received NO RESPONSE to my request for a refund. My story follows. Tacoma/Auburn area friends please take note:On Thursday, August 4th, we were pulling our boat east on highway 18 approximately 1 mile southwest of Covington, WA. Our trailer threw a bearing on the freeway, doing obvious damage to the hub and spindle, and we were forced to stop. We called Good Sam roadside assistance and after they verified with Motorplex Maple Valley that they could repair the axle they had Pro Tow out of Auburn tow it to Motorplex Maple Valley. The towing process was smooth and professional. When we arrived at Motorplex, we were told they wouldn’t be able to look at the trailer until at least Monday, the 8th or possibly Tuesday. I was disappointed, since I had hoped given the roadside situation we would be able to at least get a quote and repair timeline more quickly. But we felt our options were limited due to the circumstances and not being familiar with the area. After hearing nothing on Monday, I called Tuesday and spoke to Wayman. He said someone had looked at it and we would need a new axle. This was not a surprise, since the assembly is the simplest type of trailer axle; single, straight and no brakes, and the level of damage was obvious at a glance. I was told there would be a parts and labor quote either that afternoon or Wednesday, August 10.I heard nothing on Wednesday, so I called again on Thursday the 11th. I was called back and told they were having trouble finding the parts they needed from their supplier, but they’d for sure have costs on Friday (now 8 days since we left our trailer). I heard nothing on Friday. I attempted to call at 5:09pm but the shop was closed, so I was only able to leave a message. Meanwhile, I sent an email with an axle assembly I was able to find for about $300.00.Monday morning the 15th, now 11 days since we left our trailer, I received a call with a quote. I was told the parts were going to be over $460.00, and with 4 hours of labor I’d be around $1400 for the complete job. I was also told the parts would have to be special ordered and take ANOTHER 10-14 days. I told Wayman I could buy a used trailer for less than that, and I’d figure something else out and come pick it up.Tuesday the 16th, I walked into Robblees in Tacoma, and in 10 minutes I walked out with a Dexter axle that is correct for my trailer, hubs, bearings, grease, bearing buddies and an extra set of bearings to put on the old axle temporarily to get home. The total cost of ALL the parts with tax was under $325.The next morning (Wednesday the 17th) I drove to Maple Valley to get my trailer. I was charged $115.90 for inspection and diagnosis. Since my trailer was in the yard and not accessible I paid the fee and moved it to the Autozone parking lot, where I put on a temporary bearing to get home. Upon arriving home, I removed the old axle, installed and assembled the new one and cleaned up the driveway in an hour and ten minutes. So I paid $325 for parts and put in an hour labor, and I’m not a mechanic. A FAR CRY FROM WHAT MOTORPLEX QUOTED ME.I am understanably frustrated. 11 days without a quote, then an absurdly high quote that appeared to DOUBLE the stated labor rate, all after having arrived there by virtue of what I though was the good word of a reputable shop. To know that the parts are in fact, readily available, inexpensive and the complete job would take barely an hour just adds insult to injury. There are plenty of shops out there willing and wanting your business. Motorplex did nothing to earn mine.
Very professional and courteous, they did a great job.
Love the guys that work there very helpful and informative
Great repair on old sport car, excellent explanation of issue
Awesome service department and fair prices
I would never go here to get work done they are way over price!! I bought a A.C hose from them is all, bcuz they wanted over $700 to replace the hose and to e vac & recharge the a.c. system, so I called Black Diamond Automotive and Keith said he would do it for around $200 so if you need work done dont get ripped off go to Black Diamond!!!!!

Thank you Rene Raham for being so helpful!!!
They charged us $193 to tell us it would cost 2900 To fix our truck. We took it somewhere else and paid $178 for parts and labor. We were referred by a neighbor, and it looks like they pick and choose who to do dirty so only go here if you are feeling like getting screwed.
Awesome experience!
Great service, Great price for oil changes!!!!!!!!!!!!
