I asked for a low taper and i basically my whole head got shaved my entire side. asked for 2 inches off the top and got 4 cut off

Tonight was my very first time at the 18/8 fine men’s salon, I booked with Nicole! At 18/8 for hair stylists you’re either considered a beginner, middle, or advanced (for how long you’ve been there cutting hair) Nicole is considered a “beginner” according to 18/8. When she greeted me she was so sweet and inviting. I knew immediately I was in good hands keep in mind it was my very first time here so I already didn’t know what to expect from anyone. As Nicole started cutting my hair her and I started talking I asked her how long she had been working here, she said since January. That’s when I started telling her when I was booking my appointment I was unsure who to book with because for all I know the “beginner” stylist could be just as good as the “advanced” stylist. She started to tell me how before working at 18/8 she had her own salon and how she had 20 years off experience on her back already! I said to her it’s unfair that they give you these titles! Nicole did an amazing job! She was friendly, kind, and funny. I told her I was going to leave a Google review because she deserves more recognition for the hard work she does! Long story short Nicole was amazing and I will be coming again. Thank you!

I needed a spur of the moment haircut and 18/8 was able to fit me in within a half hour! Everyone was friendly and the haircut was great! My stylist was Dena and she was able to transform my covid hobo hairstyle into a clean and professional look! The salon was clean and comfortable, prices are on the higher end but I feel as if they are justified. Would recommend.

Pretty friendly service but I paid a lot of money for a bad haircut. I didnt notice how bad it was until I got home. They cut my neckline really high and cut really high around my ears. It did not look natural at all. This was a few months ago and I cant remember the persons name

Excellent hair cut and service. Was able to book a same day appointment on their website. Wanted a change so I let my hair grown out to enable some different options. Showed my stylist, Alaira, some pics of the look I was going for and she gave me exactly what was best for my hair. I love it and my wife does too. Alaira was great to chat with and both my wife and I had a great time.

Thank goodness a place that actually can have a conversation and cut mens hair exceptionally. They may be a bit on the pricey side but like most things you pay for what you get... but in this case you get the attention of a professional and that alone is worth the extra $$ for me. You wont be disappointed setting up an appointment here. This place offers 3 pricing levels so everyone can enjoy the great experience this place has to offer.

I used to love going here and didn’t want to go anywhere else and the haircuts were the best I have gotten and had my favorite stylist but sadly they left or I can’t seem to find them on the scheduling website anymore. The past three haircuts I have gotten while trying to find a new stylist have been extremely underwhelming and poor for the price. The first of the three, the lady was making rude comments about the acne that I have on my neck and gave me a haircut that was nowhere near what I have gotten previously. The second of the three was the best of the three but it still grew out very poor and a couple spots were left long, but the lady wasn’t rude which was the only positive. The last haircut I have gotten and sadly probably the last from here the lady had an attitude like she didn’t want to be cutting my hair or even be there that day. She rushed through my haircut in less than 10 minutes and did not trim around my ears, left hair on my neck that my girlfriend had to clean up for me, left a long spot and cut to far up on one side and didn’t blend it in with the rest. Last year I would have given this place 5/5 stars and would highly recommend it, but the quality has dropped so severely I am contemplating trying to find another place.

Paula at 18/8 is excellent, and I continue to be very comfortable going there during the pandemic.Having gone to my previous salon in Minneapolis for more than 20 years, the owner and friend who did my hair retired last year. I did a lot of checking before choosing 18/8, and made the right decision. The price for an executive cut is slightly higher than it should be, but the salon is well run and I finally have someone who is experienced, professional, and does a great job in Paula.

Had one of the best haircuts Ive ever had from Alaira. She not only was super cool but she took her time cutting my hair exactly how I like it. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality! Super friendly. Definitely coming back!

Went here for the first time today and it was an amazing experience. I had been having the same person cut my hair for as long as I can remember, and was pretty nervous about having it done elsewhere. I wanted to try a haircut that was a bit different from what Id normally go with and Nicole did a great job working with me to get the result I was looking for. I will definitely be back.

This was my 3rd time to 18|8 . Casey was fantastic as always, and the whole staff was going above and beyond during COVID-19 to make sure the experience was a safe one and as good as it could possibly be. Im very glad to become a regular here.Notes for others on what to expect during COVID-19:The staff is doing everything they can to make sure were safe, theyre safe, and that the experience is as close to normal/best standards as possible. Please give them your patience and understanding, as you should anyone.- You will need to wear a mask. Staff is also wearing masks. You should really be wearing a mask anyways.- Theyre spacing out stylists at stations to allow for more social distancing. The stations already have a bit of a barrier as well. This means fewer total available time-slots but this is a good thing for you and them anyways, since the last thing we want to do is walking into an over-crowded location right now.- I checked in a moment before my appointment, and had practically no wait but your mileage may vary if youre super early.Their between-client cleaning standards are already pretty high so please be patient while they get the place ready for you.- Staff is washing their hands, as usual, but of course these days we notice it more and its good to see.- At check-in, I had my forehead temperature taken using one of those digital thermometers youre probably seeing all over the place these days. This is also a good thing, and its now part of their routine during these times.- Gowns/capes are being used once per client before being cleaned. Equipment is being sanitized and everything seems clean.- If you enjoy a good chat with your stylist, fear not, the energy is still there to have one.Thank you to 18|8 and Casey for being a place I can trust to get a haircut even with a pandemic going on.

I have been going here for the past 3 years after i moved from Chicago to Minnesota. With haircuts you get what you pay for and here they crush it. my stylist Katie wonderful and always on point. When she was on vacation another stylist who took care of me was excellent too. They listen, they suggest, they confirm, then they execute. You will always walk out looking your best.

I moved to the North Metro a few months ago and have since had to abandon my previous stylist. I was nervous because Ive been using the same stylist for what feels like forever. Stephanie made me feel right at home and let me know right away her plans for my head. It turns out shes awesome at her job and has done an amazing job on my hair. I highly recommend her and this great studio. (Is that the word?)

Great hair cut!

I have had many haircuts from here before and Brandon has always been great and done an awesome job. However, when I called to let the front desk know I was running 10 minutes late to my appointment today they said it doesnt work and said to reschedule to another day. So after 30 minutes of driving I had to turn around. I will no longer return to the 18/8 and go to one of your many competitors in the area. Good customer service is being flexible with the client, even over just 10 minutes.

As a male, I’ve struggled for years on finding the right person to properly cut my hair. I’ve been to Great Clips, Fantastic Sams, Sports Clips, you name it but I found relief when I was recommended to Eighteen Eight. Since then, I’ve been going here for years.Easy online booking, quick check-in and respectful staff. The business has a nice and clean atmosphere to it and you’re even offered a free beverage.Even though I live over an HOUR away now. I make the drive. The drive may be long but you’re guaranteed to have your hair cut right. It’s refreshing/uplifting to have a clean haircut that’ll boost your confidence and make you look more professional.Great experiences with Tamara and Katie! All the stylists are probably just as great. I’ve been to a few others I can’t remember the names, but each stylist has key attention to detail.When you read the negative reviews for this business, you’ll notice there is some inconsistency in what the person is posting. I love how management responds respectfully or firmly.Give this place a shot, you won’t regret it.

Had a haircut about 7 weeks ago with Brian, great haircut. I made an appointment for 10/25 with Brian and arrived and checked in stating I had an appointment with Brian. The receptionist replied that she would let him know that I had arrived, went to the to the back and then returned to her desk. I waited about 5 minutes and a woman came out and said she was ready for me. I replied that I had an appointment Brian and was told that he went home sick and the receptionist tried to call me. Checked my phone, no calls from18/8. Drove out of my way and no hair cut. Really poor customer service, very disappointed and will not be returning.In response you had the correct contact information. I confined my number when she said she did not have, also had email, no cecommunicatio. Don’t blame the customer

Not your average mens salon... I was not satisfied with my initial cut/color and Andrew went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Sara, my stylist was so great to work with and her attention to detail is unequivocally superb. Love my cut and LOVE THIS PLACE!

Alaira has been my stylist at 18|8 for approximately six months as of January. I tried 18|8 after my previous stylist stopped cutting hair. She does an outstanding job, I feel like a million bucks each time I get a haircut! Her fade and hard-part work is the best Ive ever seen. The atmosphere at 18|8 is nice, not overly fragrant and without some weird gaudy design. The price can be hard to stomach, but worthwhile every time you look in the mirror.

The overall experience was great! I received a hair cut by Adam and enjoyed every minute of it. Great cut and even better experience with Adam. I will be going back to him.However, I was very disappointing by the classic shave. I had never had a classic shave so I was very excited to try it. After having to wait longer than expected, I got home and realized my side burns were no where near the same height and I had numerous patches missed. Not just not smooth, completely missed.

Super nice staff/stylists, comfy environment. Never trusted anyone to cut my hair for 8 years until I found this place. Casey is awesome and my main hairdresser. Fun convos and does a terrific job!

My haircut from Casey was totally perfect; it is the best I have ever gotten... no kidding. I am horrible at describing what I want done so I gave her some general guidelines then asked her to cut it in a way that she thinks fits my head/face. Ive been going here for over 3 years; there is a reason I keep going back. The location is super convenient, but even if it was 39 minutes out of the way I would keep going because of the people. Whoever is up front somehow knows me when I walk in and is always friendly. If youre looking for a place in a jam or want a place to make your regular hair place...do not look further! Easily a 5 out of 5.

Best cuts in the state!!!Update*** I have 3 boys and myself, weve been making a day of it by driving 90 miles to get our cuts for 6 months now and after years of being dissappointed with cuts we all give Casey 5 stars for every cut so far!!! First time going to a barber shop and it was amazing! Had an executive cut done which included a 5 minute neck and shoulder massage, the cut with a wash, and a hot towel finish. They also offer a complimentary drink for during the visit! My new go-to place!!

First time Ive gone to a Mens salon as opposed to a Sams/SportClips/etc and definitely not the last.Casey was great and despite coming in and telling her that I essentially just wanted More of the same in relation to my current haircut, she went above and beyond and gave me a slightly new look while still keeping true to the style I previously had. Couldnt have asked for a better result.Despite booking the appointment (Online) not even 5 minutes before I walked in the door they were able to get me in and seated within about 3 minutes. Ive been coming here for the past two years and wouldnt even consider going anywhere else. The entire staff is amazing and I usually see Paula who does truly artistic work. Ive had experienced stylists compliment the skill involved to do my hair properly. No other place I have ever been to has the talent and vibe that 818 has. If you are a man, this is where you need to go.

From outta town and needed a cut. Called to schedule ahead on the recommendation of a local, got put on hold and gave up after 10 min. They were rated well, came recommended, and I needed a cut so I just decided to walk in. The receptionist was happy and welcoming. She ended up getting me a appointment within an hour with Brittany. The salon is modernish, clean and had good vibes with upbeat music. The stylist was very nice and provided good conversation along with a great haircut considering shed never cut my hair before. Would definitely recommend her. My only complaint was the lighting. The ambient light was low, a lot lower than Im used which made it harder to see. Deffinetly worth the $40!

Ask for Alaira,It’s frustrating as a guy to get a proper haircut with the right expectations. I was originally was going to the hair district in Maple Grove. This issue is everyone is okay with cutting men’s hair but, theres not nearly as much importance of doing a great job as they would on a woman’s haircut. I would come in for a 45 min haircut and they would do it in 15-20 minutes. Every where I’ve gone in the last couple years I’ve been treated as a fill in their schedule. The difference at 18/8 is all they do is Men’s haircuts. So I feel your hair and your business is valued more. Not only that they specialize in Men’s haircuts. I was super nervous about using a new location especially since there’s no bio’s of the stylist artist there. I saw a positive review about Alaira and stepped out of my comfort zone to give her a shot. Alaira is super picky which was a perfect fit because so am I. She looked at my hair ask me a lot of questions and educated me on how to get the most out of my haircut and how it can improve. She also saw and kindly pointed out areas that the other salon was cutting my hair to short around my cowlick so the daily maintaining my hair made it very difficult. We made a plan how to grow this out and made me aware that I can come in for a touch up appointment for a fraction of the regular haircut price because it’s only a 15 minute appt. Many places that cater to woman would not offer this to men. So in between my full haircut I can be able to allow the hair near my cowlick to grow out while keeping my sides looking sharp. Thus creating a more manageable haircut that I don’t need so much product to hold it together. This was a 45 minute appointment and Alaira spent the full 45 minutes with me making my haircut perfect. I came in nervous but, left confident in my choice I’m completely sold on using Alaira again and because I booked right there a follow up appointment for a touch up. They gave me a card with the touch service to be complimentary so no cost to me. If anyone is frustrated like I am I think Alaira is fantastic.

Ive had really bad experiences at other places before and you can immediately sense that they know how to cut YOUR hair. Paula is one of the best if not THE best stylist around, and Im very lucky to have found her!

Friendly staff who specialize in guys hair. If you dont care for the smells and attitude of a typical salon or old school barber and you want a better haircut then the mall chain this is your place.The best comparison would be to call it the Brooks Brothers of hair, they do men’s hair very well and that’s it.
